I was warmly greeted by a receptionist who politely and promptly took my information, and within minutes I was able to see a physician. Ms. Lisa M. Griffin, ARNP, was thorough in her questions; was caring, attentive, knowledgeable, and kind; and soon I had a diagnosis, a treatment plan, and the prescription that I needed. I had a similar experience when I visited the clinic two years ago -- equally satisfied. Despite some negative reviews, do not be afraid to use this clinic. I found their care exceptional, comparable to the care that I receive at my University medical clinic at home. The CHI Franciscan Urgent Care Center on Fauntleroy is now my "go-to" care provider for routine medical needs while in West Seattle.

After arriving I was escorted to a room by a staff member and within a few minutes Erica Lacey, PA-C entered the room did an initial examination then proceeded to perform medical procedures. She continually kept me informed as to her progress which made me relax. The receptionist Tia (Tai?) was extremely helpful and accommodating as were other assistants. After examining my ear he suggested that the discomfort may be from earwax buildup. I was a bit skeptical, but after flushing my ears, I could hear again and the pain was just about gone. I kept monitoring things for the next several days, and sure enough everything went back to normal. Just be sure that you arrive on time/a little early. I overheard a convo with a guy who had come about 10 minutes late, and he had to rebook. As far as I can tell, this isn't the type of place where they triage treating patients according to how severe their condition--it's moreso about seeing patients at their appointment times. I think this is a great option for minor/run-of-the-mill concerns.

Then I checked the other urgent care locations and saw they were at least the same price. They do tend to prescribe medication more often here than other places, but when I've expressed concern with a specific Rx I had issues with, they were quick to find an alternative. The biggest reason I love this place is the time it takes. I'm usually out the door in less than 15 minutes (with an appointment). That includes greeting reception, getting vitals from an assistant, answering questions about why I'm there, talking to the doc, and leaving with my visit summary. I don't come here when I'm feeling well - I want to be back home, wrapped in a blanket, hopefully with some antibiotics or medication to make my plague less miserable. More than any other place I've been, this checks that box. If you're looking for a conversation about how your family is doing, make an appointment with your PCP. If you're sick and need something addressed quickly, visit One Urgent Care.

TERRIBLE rude receptionist who put my husband's health, life, and safety at risk…read more My husband had an episode of disorientation; we called his PCP who said they could not get him in today but that he needed to be evaluated in person and get scans within a 48 hour window or he could be in serious danger for stroke. (Unfortunately due to other reasons it took almost 2 days to establish this info so we were within 5 hours of this deadline by now.) His PCP doctor sent us specifically to Franciscan Urgent Care. When we arrived, I quickly explained the situation to the desk staff, starting with that his PCP had sent us directly there and said it was time sensitive. The first thing this woman said, already condescendingly, was "well if he's not having symptoms now we can't do anything. He needs to *establish care with a PCP* and get evaluated by them." I explained for a second time that he already has a PCP and that they sent us to urgent care (which I had already stated quite clearly). The woman proceeded to - "well, his doctor was wrong. If he's not having symptoms right now we can't do anything. He needs a PCP for evaluation." I again said he HAS a PCP and that they said he needs to be evaluated *in person* by a doctor today and likely get scans before the 48 hour window closes. The woman again said they at urgent care couldn't do anything and we should schedule with his PCP. (Who, again, had already told us that they could not see him within the critical time window and he needs urgent care.) I said, okay, I understand. Should we go to the ER? At this point she got more combative and said "well you can't just walk into an ER and announce you're there to get scans. You need insurance authorization for scans which is why HE NEEDS TO GET EVALUATED BY HIS PCP." I again told her I understood that, but again that he would not be able to see his PCP today and that his own doctor had advised us to be evaluated in person within this critical 48 hour window. I said I understood we could not just walk into the ER and demand to have scans done. I asked if an ER doctor would be able to perform an evaluation to get a referral for a scan. I should mention I was very calm and polite throughout all of this. At this point she put on her biggest "dealing with difficult people smile" and informed me "Look, I have told you several times, but if you won't listen to me, then you can just go ahead to the ER and have them tell you the same thing I'm telling you. So why don't you do that since you won't listen to me." Like .... ?!?!?!? We were in a time sensitive medical situation, the repercussions of which could be lifelong disability or DEATH. I don't know if this woman was intentionally misunderstanding me or just incapable of basic comprehension, but either way she made it her mission to dress me down and be as unhelpful as possible because apparently putting us in our place was more important than my husband's life. (And I don't even know how we could have offended her in the first place in the few-sentence interaction I described above. She seemed to make the immediate assumption that my husband didn't have a PCP and therefore is a lower class of human being - despite the first sentence out of my mouth being "my husband's PCP sent us here." And side note, I find it extremely unlikely that an urgent care doctor couldn't have done the same evaluation that was done an hour later by the kind and responsible staff at St Anne emergency department. But this gatekeeper at the urgent care front desk wouldn't even let us talk to an actual member of the medical staff. If you want to be treated with basic human decency and have your medical concerns taken seriously, do NOT come to Franciscan Urgent Care, where the receptionist apparently knows more than the medical professionals and won't be told otherwise.

She really listens to her patients and trusts their instincts with their own bodies. She said something like, "you have been living with your body your whole life, you know it better than I do, tell me what works and we will go from there." It feels so good to be heard. She goes above and beyond, truly, from finding the cheapest place to get prescriptions for her patients to acting as therapist and listening to your grievances about life. I never feel rushed or silly or dramatic like so many other offices make people feel. Her office hours are convenient and I am always able to get an appointment asap. No more booking check ups months in advance!!! Thank you Dr. Johnson.
