This place is amazing. The sushi tastes fresh, the rice is delicious and the drinks are on point. Our server was very attentive and so was the gentleman tending the bar. They both walked around and made sure everyone had what they needed. The music was also on point they were playing 2000s bangers so it was nice to sit eat good food and listen to great music. When we left the kitchen staff also said by and thanked us for coming. We normally drive down to Dublin for sushi but we now found our new local sport. Keep up the great work, Zoku!

A friend recommended this spot for sushi and I'm so glad he did! We used to go to Livermore but now we can stay here in Tracy to eat quality sushi! From the beginning everyone here is friendly, professional, and helpful. If there is a problem, they remain courteous and always try their best to resolve any confusion. Also the owner and employees are regulars there and we love seeing their familiar faces when we visit. It's like they have a great employee fam going on! Ambiance is cozy and cute. They now added some cute table lamps too. They also have large tv's with closed captions and often times the game playing. Sushi is delicious and fresh! For appetizers we love the hamachi carpaccio, chicken karaage, and grilled edamame. For sashimi, definitely the tuna and hamachi For rolls, the spicy tuna roll, hamachi jalapeño roll, and scallop roll

Amazing food. The quality is high, price, unfortunately matches the quality. Enjoy Ikura two Ikura nigiri for $8.50. This was a great generous portion of Ikura, very fair value. Calamari. $9. Fresh fried calamari, you can tell that the quality is not just a small previously frozen pieces. Comes with a Creative non-spicy cilantro ponzu sauce. Cucumber salad. 850. Comes with shrimp, the cucumber itself is sour, but would have liked a little more sweet. The wakame (seaweed) salad is also just OK. I probably would not order again. Mango shrimp. 1750. Was able to substitute tuna for California roll. It was a great substitution, and very nice to accommodate. Overall great roll. Tempura bento. $23.00 came with two pieces of shrimp and several pieces of vegetable tempura (two or three slices of carrot, two broccoli, two green bean). The rice was very nice. Well made short grain rice. The tempera sauce was perfect classic traditional to put sauce sweet and shoyu you fish base. Miso soup was also very traditionally made. Not sure it was worth $23 but may order it again. Tempura is made without egg.

Quality! Finally was in town and had the chance to Check this place out and I'm sure glad I did! When we walked in, we quickly got seated. It's a relatively small restaurant so I'm sure there will be some wait times! The menu had a nice selection of food and drinks. We got some hot sake and edamame to star! Both delicious. We then got two rolls. Both delicious and very fresh. The scallop one only had 3 pieces to it (bummer) but they were HUGE!!!! Almost too huge where you couldn't enjoy it all in one bite... but boy was it delicious!!!!! Definitely on the upper price of local food for this area... but sushi tends to be. I would definitely come back and look forward to trying some other rolls !

Updated review Posted 5.3.25 We dined here last night on for our family Friday night dinner. This place has insane potential to be consistently awesome but they lack customer service in general basically. A big reason for this is they're understaffed, it's as simple as that. You can't put maximizing profit in front of taking care of the people who come in and make you money. We arrived to 3-4 open 4 top tables in the restaurant, and were told they were going to clean a table off to sit us. Why would you clean a table when there's 4 clean ones already, all ready to be sat if needed? We waited longer than we should've, especially considering this. The host could've just sat us right when we walked in. Server took a bit to come over, ok no big deal, asks us if we're ready to order, we order apps and ask for a few more minutes. We then order the rest of our food. The apps come out, and we finish both before we get our waters even? The thing about being short staffed a bit also is........you need to step up the pace a little bit, its what the situation at that time dictates. Then our food comes out, if I remember correctly, 1 entree at a time for the 4 of us, with my daughters coming out much later than the rest. They also forgot her soup that we ordered, and an extra roll that came way after as I think they forgot. Now the food to me is good, but rolls are normal size, normal fish portions, but expensive. You hit me with $20+ on a roll, it needs to be better than good. I had to get up to ask for our bill & a box, weren't really checked on during the meal either. My wife had 1 beer, & 1 saki. Bill was over $200. Even with 1 beer, 1 saki, & 2 apps, I thought the bill was high, especially for the service. The food quality and ambiance on the inside are there to get away with what they charge, but you have to have better service, or people aren't going to go back and pay that kind of money.

First time trying this spot in Tracy, California. All I have to say is just wow. The ambiance of the restaurant is really nice. Was definitely an experience when you come inside. Definitely a gem of a restaurant in Tracy. The food was amazing, the presentation and food was great. The sushi was really good and fresh. Very flavorful and delightful. My party of people ordered many sushi rolls and it was all very tasty and delicious. The service was really good, from the time we got in to the time we left the restaurant it was good vibes all around. The atmosphere there was really nice. The staff there were really good and they all helped my party when we were over there. The staff was really nice and helpful. Good vibes all around, no complaints from us. I give this restaurant a 5/5 star review from presentation, great customer service, and of course great food. Will definitely be back and will definitely be recommending this restaurant to all my friends and colleagues.

I've been wanting to check out Zoku for quite some time. We decided it was a FriYay day at work- so let's go out for dinner! We came in right at opening, before the rush that came in near the end of our meal! The menu has a ton of options, and since I practiced restraint, I'll have to go back for a few other items that caught my eye. This time around, we got the assorted sashimi appetizer with tuna, salmon and hamachi. For being quite a newbie to the raw fish world, and very texture picky, I enjoyed the freshness of each type and would order it again. We also ordered the grilled edamame- which that addition of the char flavor made this something I would choose to order each time. The agedashi tofu was also quite tasty, but due to the textural aspect, I would have preferred a firm tofu. This is traditionally made with soft to medium-firm, so just something to keep in mind texturally! (I'd order it again though... I'd just have to prepare myself that it more melts in your mouth.) Lastly, there were 3 rolls I was bouncing between and settled on the Chili Spider Salmon roll with soft shell crab. I liked it, but I don't know that it would be the particular dish that would bring me in time and time again. I'm looking forward to trying some of the other options that caught my eye. Service was great- prompt, friendly and efficient. I like how they have the sushi bar seating and it was clean and uncluttered, unlike so many other places in the area appear to be. It was an inviting space.

A big shout-out to our hostess Rachel! She was AMAZING! Came on a Saturday night around 7pm and it was really full in the restaurant. We were immediately seated with waters and menus. The selection of the menu was endless, there were so many great appetizers to sushi rolls it was hard to choose just one. Upon ordering, Rachel was able to help us out and give suggestions since we were struggling a bit. The food quality was great overall, the service was impeccable, and to much surprise as someone who has lived in Tracy for quite some time this spot is a must for amazing sushi! Heres what we got: Agadashi Tofu (5/5): so good with the sauce and it came out warm! Chicken Teriyaki (4/5): LOOK at the portion size! also delicious sauce 8 Piece Sashimi (5/5): all very fresh and big cuts of fish Takoyaki (4/5): delicious and did not skimp on the ingredients Sushi Rolls (5/5): I like how the rolls were not small and they were easily shareable between 2-3 people; points for being unique with some sushi rolls

Ordered to go. Been here a few times now and service has somewhat improved. Last few times I've had issues with missing order, wrong change, and over charged. I've tried a few things here and I would have to say, it's not bad, but not that good (for the price). When I get the sashimi the cuts are irregular. Either it's big thick cuts or mildly thin. The fish seems ok but not quite fresh. I feel like with the rolls, sometimes it tastes overly sauced; so much so that it's hard to taste the fish. The rolls do fall apart too easily. I ordered the poke a few times and this was the first time it didn't come with chips. Guessing they either forgot or they no longer serve it with chips. Their menu of sushi is fairly limited compared to other sushi places in Tracy.

Zoku deserves 5 stars for its service alone! Our waiter, named John Legend according to our receipt, gave the best service I've ever received in any restaurant. He was super kind and understanding on how long we took to decide our order since it was my party's first time here. He was happy to give recommendations and gave us the seaweed salad we ordered free of charge as it was our first time at Zoku. The seaweed salad was delicious, but a little different from other places. It wasn't as sweet but I appreciated being able to taste the seaweed flavor more. My favorite suggestion from John was the salmon belly. The salmon was so fresh and the extra fat in the salmon belly made it such a delicious bite. My younger brother ordered the chicken katsu, which was huge!! Half of the plate was filled with rice and the other half was chicken. He couldn't finish it so we had leftovers. The restaurant has a small bar area for drinks, a sushi bar, and regular dining tables as well so there's something for everyone! It's a little pricer than other sushi restaurants in Tracy but definitely worth the visit!

Really good sushi for the area! Everything is presented so nice. Their oysters and hamachi carpaccio are a must order! Hand rolls and sashimi are also really fresh and good. The place itself is pretty dim and not too big. Expect a wait when it's busy. There is a full bar to the left when you walk in where you can order drinks while you wait.

Food was SOO good! Our waiter was super nice and helpful. Ambiance was nice as well. We ordered ramen and sushi and it was soo delicious and filling. Would 100% recommend.

Ac was not working. Bathrooms in disrepair. The food was OK at best. Rice was mushy, edemame was mushy, rolls were falling apart. The service was ridiculously slow and bad. Had to ask about 5 times for utensils for our kids to eat their food with, apparently they had run out of forks (even though it wasn't busy at all). By the time we got them food was cold. One server for 3 tables and she was having trouble keeping up. Music was good though. read more

This review is long overdue. If you're looking for quality sushi and fresh fish, look no further you've found your place! We finally have a favorite sushi spot in Tracy. The staff at Zoku is really the best and they are so consistent with their quality and service. We love all the servers and staff. Our favorites to order are bluefin toro, salmon toro, shrimp mango, and spicy crunchy rainbow. Their side salad is great and a generous serving size, miso is always fire. Our son loves the chicken teriyaki. Plus the ambiance is clean, modern, but casual at the same time. They always have great music playing, and if you're in the mood for a cocktail they recently hired a great bartender, she nailed our cocktails a few weeks ago and we are very picky. If we're going to eat out, Zoku is always at the top of our list. read more

Went for lunch on Friday and had to take the family back today! They all loved it! Everything I've had has been great! Apps- grilled edame, Gyoza, calamari! The Shrimp mango roll a must! My son loved the ramen! Hubby loves octopus and the salad with octopus was amazing! If you haven't tried go! It's Japanese contemporary so keep that in mind! No fried rice or chow mein but who needs that when everything we had was great! And... customer service was fab and that makes it or breaks it for me! Enjoy! read more

The vibe is so nostalgic! Have you been to Amakara in Dublin? I mean, before they moved to the beautiful, classy place they are at now? I'm talking about when they were on Regional St. and it was intimate and lively and engaging. THAT IS NOKU! It is a great spot and the sushi chefs and cooks make amazing food. The specialty rolls are on point and the Ramen is delicious! Of course, the grilled edamame was a perfect starter. Yes, yes, yes. Go! Eat well! Hang out with some of the best and funnest sushi chefs! I have been here a few times since the opening and they have always been great. Drinks are awesome and I always get the Red Dragon roll. The wife and I were looking for a new sushi restaurant and stumbled upon this place. The menu and the descriptions were very helpful and in theory, the food sounded like it was going to be amazing. The execution and the quality, on the other hand, unfortunately left a lot to be desired. We ordered about $120 worth of food for the two of us, which was a decent amount of sushi and we were full, but the quality was consistent with what you would find at sushi buffet. The staff were very friendly upon picking up the food so that's always a plus. read more

Get ready for a party in your mouth at Zoku! The service was great! The wait was short..might not be for long once more people in Tracy find out about this place! The food was excellent: beautifully created, artistically presented and deliciously delightful. The pictures of our orders speak for themselves. The pieces of sushi and shashmi were bursting with flavor-full of contrasting textures of smooth, creamy, crunchy, and crispy all rolled into bite size pieces. The shashimi is fresh and just melts in your mouth. Don't forget to get sake or an IPA to go with your food either! Totally worth the experience and worth a try if you have not gone. The best night, date night we had in a while!!! Food is awesome, staff were over the moon and back! I guess Friday night is lit, but food and service are not compromised. They delivered! On top of that, we met a regular couple who buys bottles of sake to share with everyone. In the end, we met a bunch of great people just enjoying the food and the positive ambience. Atmosphere was great, but the food was an experience. I don't remember much on account of the sake but the salmon skin hand rolls and tofu agedashe was something special. Not a fan of the calamari, but it was cooked differently than the fried crispy ones me & wife were used to. Overall 4/5 but i'll give 5. read more

Stopped by to check out this new Japanese restaurant in the Tracy area! Staff was super welcoming and friendly. Very fresh fish, unique dishes, and great ambiance. We had the Zuke Tartare made by Chef Albert--well seasoned and the garlic chips on top are delicious! Ask for some shiso as well to brighten up the flavors. Tamago specially made by Chef Daniel as well! So delicious and sweet. They just opened so hours are pretty slim (5-8 pm) but they will be open full time soon! I believe they are connected with the Amakara sushi restaurant in Dublin since their menus are similar! If you enjoy Amakara, check out this place as well. read more

Amakara in Tracy! Finally a place in town that uses quality ingredients! Tender delicate cuts of fish. Not rubbery or chewy. Everything was great. Attention to detail in every dish we had. Wow.... I was pleasantly surprised to see Zoku Sushi as I took my dog to get groomed at Pampered Pets. Words cannot describe how awesome the experience was. Hands down the best sushi I've hands in Tracy, actually Bay Area as a whole. Yeah bold words, but absolutely accurate. If you do end up going you have to order the Hamachi Carpaccio, Tuna Tartare, & Chefs Nigiri. Cannot wait for everyone within in the Bay Area to try this gem. read more

Stop zokuing around and come try this place! Hands down the best sushi spot in Tracy! I came here with two other friends and we all ordered the chef's special roll. Needless to say we are in loveeeeee! Every bite being literal perfection... Can't wait to take all my friends here! I'm a snobby SF native when it comes to authentic Asian cuisine out here... or anywhere for that matter. Boooooy.. was I wrong. Definitely coming back to support them. Try the hamachi carpaccio and any tartare for raw. Had the edamame (grilled and salted... really good.. and healthy!) and gyoza. Both were on point. I don't usually get ramen at a sushi spot but I had some of my friend's and I was surprised how hearty and delicious it was. Daniel and Albert were great chefs.. not just speaking for their culinary skills but for their willingness to engage with customers. I'm impressed guys. Mind you, I was literally customer #2 and expected some "growing pains" of new businesses. But, nope. Flawless. Well done gents, bravo! read more

really wanted to try this place, tried to call in an order, put me on hold for over 6 minutes, tried to call back & they turned off their phones... i get your busy but leaving a customer completely hanging is rude. ive worked in food service and the correct way to go is "i apologize as it is quite busy unfortunately we arent taking to go orders." mind you it says they close at 9pm and it was 7:37pm when i called, the food scene in tracy has gotten horrendous. read more

More than once that we experienced food that was not "up to par" with Zoku. The rice they served was either overcooked or old in the pot or their rice cooker is not functioning properly. That's happened with our chicken katsu and chicken teriyaki entrees. Also called takeout and had to wait 15 mins. More than the time it would be ready. Lastly, the hostess or host who has taken our order doesn't know their menu & denies that the item we want is not there or given the wrong thing. We keep coming back but keep getting disappointed. read more

Stopped by here for the first time with my girlfriend on a Tuesday morning. The atmosphere, service, and food were phenomenal. We both got a lemon salmon roll and I got a deep fried philly as well. Both came out delicious and quick. I absolutely inhaled both rolls. This place is a hidden gem, easily my favorite sushi place not only in Tracy but within the Valley, I will be coming back guaranteed. On top of the fantastic food, the excellent service was appreciated. Our server was incredibly welcoming and warm. The atmosphere, cleanliness, and music were awesome. Discovered this hidden gem about 2 months ago and it has now become my weekly go to spot. The great food, people, vibe, their playlist is outstanding and the popcorn chicken and cocktails are top notch. This was a pleasant surprise. Thank you to other reviewers comments. I ordered the 20 piece sashimi and Asahi. I wanted to order more but for one person the twenty piece was a lot of food. They did not skimp on the portion size at all. Sashimi was thick and lots of variety in this dish. I truly appreciate the young lady who took care of me. She was really patient, kind, and nice. The other team member checked on me and made sure I was taken care of. Very great way to spend my dinner with a nice team. The place is very clean and the ambience was chill. Well to be honest I have no complaints other than i wish my drink was stronger but it tasted great, The bartender was nice and friendly, but so was the entire staff. My food came out fast which is a plus, and it was busy night but it didn't seem to matter to staff, as they worked like a well oil machine to keep the customers happy. I Ordered a roll and a teriyaki plate, and I must say the portions were larger than i am used to. Absolutely the best sushi you can get in the area, they have the freshest fish I've ever had in the valley without any of the bay area prices. The sushi chefs and service staff are all such kind, welcoming and easy to talk to people and serve some of the best Unagi I have ever had. The food at Tracy's hidden gem, Zoku, reaches taste buds I didn't even know I had!! Albert is nothing less than a food Artist! Daniel and Kenson, too. We were fortunate enough to sit at the sushi bar and watch the artists at work. I never cared for sushi, sushimi, or anything other than tempura but have been enlightened by the amazing food at Zoku. Tried the Hamachi Carpaccio, Chu Toro, Tomago, and 'safer' choices of tempura, Grilled Edamame, Kinoko Krunch, and Fried Philadelphia.
