I have been coming to Zingo's for years, but was hesitant to try it again after the new owners took over. I don't know why I waited so long to come back! The food is still good and the restaurant has been remodeled and updated and looks better than ever! The food was delicious and the service is fast and friendly. The serving sizes are HUGE and the bill wasn't too bad! When you walk in, pay attention to the free standing menu board near the door. There are several items listed on that board as the "specials" and you won't find them on the menu, but they should be! (I HIGHLY recommend the hot link sandwich if you see on the specials board!) I usually come during my lunch break - right around 1 pm - and I have had great luck with the restaurant being less busy during this time, so I have plenty of time to come in, order, eat, and get back to work in an hour. BREAKFAST was outstanding. My chili cheese omelette was made with home made chili which was excellent and was served with a good portion of of hash browns properly cooked. My VietNam Veteran brother's ham and cheddar omelette was also good. Waitress was friendly and couldn't have given better service. Came in on a Saturday while waiting for my car across the way. Sign said to seat ourselves so we did. We were greeted promptly by our server but from behind us, asking what we would like to drink. I ordered hashbrown and an egg and my friend got the sausage breakfast. Everything was cooked correctly, but her biscuit and gravy was cold (what she was most looking forward to). Our server checked on us multiple times and even took care of our bill. Our only real complaint is that she just wasn't friendly. No smile, no real pause in her step, and the place wasn't slammed (former servers). We felt like an inconvenience. Would I go back? Sure. But it's definitely not a craving. read more

I really wanted to like this place. It was conveniently located next to our hotel. My partner had the Ortega Burger with fries and a side salad. I opted for the breakfast Chicken Fried Steak, scrambled eggs, hash browns and biscuit with gravy. My partner said she liked hers fine. Nothing spectacular but it served its purpose. My scrambled eggs were fine as was the biscuit by itself. The gravy was as bland as it could get. It tasted like creamy flour. Almost no pepper and no sausage or other protein typical with most CFS. The hash browns were boring, and only barely browned. But they were also adequate. We're they lost me was the CFS itself. The batter has no crisp to it but was more like a gelatinous goo on the bottom side. Shared a bite and she said it's texture was like cold, uncrisp, chicken skin. Once I got to get a bite of the steak itself.... I'm not sure how long it has been around but it was literally the toughest CFS I've ever had. I gave it to my dog. So if you're considering eating here, know the burger was mediocre and the CFS and it's gravy, truly miss the mark. Sorry Zingo's. You do not pass go. read more

Not bad! Mom & pop diner similar to Mr. Perry's or Denny's. Clean bathrooms & friendly service! Food was similar to what we would expect from a truckstop diner. The table & cutlery weren't exactly spic and span, but the bathroom was very clean. Don't feel deterred if you notice a lack of diversity in the restaurant. I was about to skip ordering as we were the only persons of color in the restaurant I was very uncomfortable with all the staring and dirty looks from the non-poc patrons. However our server and the owner or manager(?) were both so sweet when welcoming us and helpful when ordering so I decided to order food afterall. My family members enjoyed the chicken strips w/ onion rings, "The Wilbur", the saydsgcountry fried potatoes, and fried okra. I ordered the crispy chicken waffle sandwich but I preferred eating the waffle slices separate from the sandwich itself. I know Zingos has been around for a while and sometimes gets overlooked cause it's pretty much a truck stop diner. But Zingo's has always been good to me definitely a step up from Denny's. The inside is not much to look at , it's a typical truck stop diner , but they're churning out some decent breakfast outta there. 4 stars only because it's a bit run down and sometimes a little shady lol but clean. Don't let that deter you away I'd recommend going at least once and judge it for yourself. read more

Today my fiancé and I went to eat breakfast thinking that this nice little place was still as good as it once was. We went in and sat down. We then waited and waited for someone to ask us if we wanted anything to drink but no one ever came to our table. Then another couple sat down and as soon as they sat down a waitress went right over to serve them. I was so upset that we got up and left. The service at this place was horrible. I really recommend anyone who loves diners to really cherish this one. The menu is dead on diner food with the best original sign still standing in town. If you are on a special diet save this place for a cheat day. When I walked in at 8 am the sign said chili verde omelet and I got excited. It was my cheat day so I was overjoyed that it wasn't sold out. For me everything the served was perfect: the taste, way it was cooked and all the sides (whoever complained about the sourdough obviously doesn't order it in a diner setting as it was exactly as I expected, mild). We are originally from Long Beach and moved out here. We spotted Zingos a couple months ago but it was under remodeling. But we decided to go and have breakfast there. I had the chicken fried chicken which was extraordinary good and it came with hash browns with medium cooked eggs and the whole breakfast was extremely good. The owner came out and chatted for a bit which it gave Zingos a home like feeling. He was very nice and professional and again made us feel like home. The waitress were very friendly and helpful. Very attentive. I would definitely recommend Zingos to friends and family. Next time I'm trying the steak and Eggs. Someone else ordered it but it looked amazing! Looks like a cute vintage style diner so I wanted to try it. You can't really mess up breakfast but they did. The gravy was so bland and had hardly any taste. I ordered the chicken fried steak with eggs and country potatoes. The chicken fried steak tasted a bit odd and the country potatoes needed seasoning. I am not a picky eater by any means and this is the first place ever that I have tried and made my breakfast not taste well:( Service was pretty fast but not once did the waiter smile at my guest or me. I have to say that Zingos has the Best Cheese Burger I have had on the West Coast. This small truck stop diner does not hold back when quality , portion, taste, and presentation are concerned. My Husband and I went to Zingo for dinner tonight. He likes breaks for dinner and was going to order a omelette. Come to find out they only serve breakfast until 2 pm There menu is much smaller. I got the chicken fried steak. It was very good but the gravy wss very water down and no taste to it all. I got 2 sides with my meal. They only had 4 or 5 sides to choose from. No mashed potatoes or bake potato but I was told I could get mashed potatoes witch I did. The meal also came with a salda. Which came out in a small soup bowl. My husband got a bit witch was 14.00 witch I thought was a bit high He said the bacon had no flavor to it at all. If you don't care for chicken dont go.for dinner. They only have the chicken fried steak and spaghetti and other chicken items. No longer a child menu I did not see any French toast which is our daughter and granddaughter favorite. Also my husband loved there tuna salad when it use to be the old dingo but that also is gone. I do not think we will be going back unless they add more things to there meun. read more

My husband ordered the chicken fried steak and I ordered the Denver omelette. Their service was pretty good even though it was busy. The food looked good but then my husband tried the chicken fried steak with the gravy and said it was not as good as he's had at other restaurants. He thought the gravy had a sweet taste to it. Not sure if they put sugar in it, but that's the flavor it had. He also said the hash browns were crispy on the outside, but mushy on the inside. My omelette was tasty and the English muffin was perfectly toasted. Don't you hate a mushy wet muffin that's not been toasted enough. Service was adequate, an older lady who was kind serving me was apologetic when my re-order of bacon was given to someone else. Everything was very subpar: bacon microwaved, hash browns under cooked, sourdough toast thin & tasteless. It was edible, but I used to get better food back in my Air Force days from the mess hall to be honest. I'd skip this place, even though I HATE supporting big Corporate owned chains like IHOP, their food is at least to an acceptable standard. Sorry guys, you missed the mark.
