we stopped @zinburger for a quick bite this afternoon and were seated in the patio area in the back of the restaurant on river rd. my SO ordered the wagyu burger medium and it came out perfectly cooked. he wasn't excited about the iced tea (only option was flavored) but loved my truffle fries. service was good, not fantastic (refills took awhile) and just a heads up: small birds have access to this patio area when eating. yeah, live birds...who are hungry. so it may not suit everyone to eat in this area. bathrooms are clean but there are only two. go for the burgers; eat at the front of the restaurant. read more

First time here. New to the area and my friend Matt suggested this place. So today he and I went on a hardware store run and went here for lunch. Fantastic. Had the Diablo burger (as rare as they could make it) and we split a truffle fries. As good a burger as I have ever had. Great beef, great burger, great fries, heck, even the iced tea was awesome. Our waitperson (I wish I had gotten her name) was great too. If it's not obvious, I really like this place. For a bit of perspective, I'm 65 years old and not given to trendy projects, and though this place has a hip vibe, the people are genuine, the food is excellent and the prices are reasonable. Holy cow (literally), these burgers are amazing! While they offer interesting combinations like, El Diablo, Bruce Lee, Zinburger, etc., I chose to B.Y.O.B. My combination was Danish blue cheese with wild mushrooms, lettuce, tomato, onion, Dijon mustard and cooked medium rare (pink all the way through with a warm center). Perfection! It was a one cloth, quadruple napkin experience. Although I could have split with my husband, I enjoyed every ounce. My friend ordered their unique California Burger Bowl which includes a delicious beef patty with avocado, sweet potatoes, mushrooms, brussels sprouts, brown rice and quinoa. She said it was fabulous and plentiful. Zinburger also offers salads, wings, Mac & cheese, a variety of fries and other sandwich proteins such as chicken, turkey, and veggie. Apparently they have sinful shakes however we knew we couldn't manage one of those too. And they have cocktails, wine and beer. We also shared the zucchini fires which were perfectly seasoned and melted in your mouth. I prefer mine a bit more Al dente however these were tasty. This is my second visit to this place and I have to say I am impressed. We came for happy hour. $6 drinks! I had the jalapeno margarita. It was awesome! I had two. Velvet had wine 8 oz pour for $6! She had one. Light weight. I had the special burger brie arugula and a perfectly cooked 8 oz patty of pure Black Angus goodness. Yum. I think I may have scared our server at Zinburger. Not that a table of six highly boisterous people walking in toward the tail end of the night on July 4th wouldn't be intimidating... I think it was more so my pointed questions about how food was prepared, whom the executive chef was, whether the restaurant was in a restaurant group, and if they had a beer sommelier that really threw him off. Zinburger has this very contemporary look, with lots of exposed metal moldings, simple clean lines, a very open dining room, and a number of wall-mounted flat panel TVs. As the name would indicate, it's a mash-up between a wine bar and an upscale burger joint, with most burgers rolling around the $10 range. Not much for a DCer to bat an eyelash at (hello, Central, I'm talking about you) but definitely not cheap by Tucsonian standards. Between the lot of us, we ended up trying many different burgers, and the boy got the seared ahi salad (beautiful and tasty - I'm glad they brought the dressing on the side... it would have been a bit much poured on it). My Samburger was done up just medium - great and juicy beef patty with a slice of cheese melted on top. Although the menu mentions that it's served with Thousand Island, I didn't really notice. What got my attention was the savory smoky bacon on top. Mmm! The only garnish with the burger were three slices of pickles (which I nibbled on in between bites of meaty joy). Even before I bit into my burger, I was already a little tipsy from my draft Sierra Nevada - they have a number of great microbrews on tap! Who does wine with burger? Not that I disapprove - I just find it much more satisfying with a cold one. And apparently so did everyone else in my party. Plus, our fries came out as quasi-appetizers. Sweet potato chips were meh. The yogurt sauce was good, but they need to be a little thicker so you can actually taste any sweet potato. Double truffle fries were typical truffles frites with truffle aioli. Surprising for Tucson, but not as good as Poste's in DC. Zucchini fries were the winner for me - cover in parmesan, these little nibbles were a mite crispy, but very tender when you bit into them. The Ranch dressing became dangerous the more I imbibed. Don't forget to check out the interestingly decorated restrooms before ditching out of Zinburger. Ladies - ever wanted to know what it feels like to be hounded by the paparazzi? Came here tonight with my mom and aunt for dinner. We got to sit outside by the fire and it was so nice! They had heaters on the wall too, so it's perfect for the winter season. I forgot our server's name (may have been Carly), but she was amazing. I had never been to this location, but the inside is so cute and the food is fabulous. One of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. We ordered 4 salads and drinks. We were there for an hour and 45. Drinks took forever. Food took forever. Portions used to be much larger than they are now. After waiting an eternity, we were told there was a large party on the porch and that's why it took forever. Not an excuse. Very, very impressed! Maybe one of the best happy hours (especially for food) in Tucson. Large orders of fries and milkshakes for $3, salads for a little more, and miniature burgers along with standard drinks. As a vegetarian, I was very pleased with the handmade veggie burger (which by the way can substitute the beef patty in any of their burgers). The veggie burger was flavorful and had a great texture which is sometimes hard to come by in veggie patties. My dining partners enjoyed their meat burgers as well. Opted to sit "outside" in the tented area with heaters which was considerably quieter, but still chilly as many of the tent gaps let the high winds in. I don't usually enjoy burgers other than here. And even then I prefer just the burger patty (I usually switch it for chicken) with various veggies on. I recently tried the el diablo with chicken substituted and it tasted amazing. The chicken was grilled and had so flavorful with juiciness in every bite. The lettuce and onions tasted very fresh and the jalapeño with avocado added an extra kick to the meal. I had a bite of my husbands burger bowl which was also surprisingly pretty good. He got the meat medium and it tasted just perfect. And of course no meal to zinburger is complete without the truffle fries! I came on a busy happy hour time frame. There were no available seats so I sat at the bar awaiting my other guests. I took advantage of the time frame and ordered their meals. During that time I interacted with David, the bartender. He made a screaming mean drink! My family didn't eventually join me but I was able to order their meals and take them to go. David totally worked with me and help me get everything going and he was gracious and our food was stinking awesome!!! I ordered a burger and chicken sandwich and sweet potato fries and onion rings!! Yum! Burgers are creative and HUGE! They have a patio behind the restaurant that is pet friendly and has mist machines that help keep it cool during the hot summer months. The furniture is very chic and the patio is well shaded. The other members of my party ordered the Wagyu burger, which has an "American Kobe" patty. I ordered the weekly special, the Chuck Norris, and we shared the sweet potatoe fries and regular fries. The Wagyu burger was definitely juicier. If you like mushroom and onion burgers, this gourmet version is definitely the choice for you. I wanted a crazier burger with lots of fixings and the Chuck Norris was definitely that. BBQ sauce, coleslaw, onion rings and more in one burger! So good! We were also able to order a single patty and a side of bacon for our dog. I'm sure he enjoyed it as much as we enjoyed our food. I'd say the fries were a little over seasoned but that's based on personal taste, as everyone else thought it was good. Maybe it was because I already had so many flavors from my burger. Someone that looked like a manager or owner stopped by to take our plates and ask about our experience, which showed care as we had mentioned to our server that this was our first visit. Our server was friendly and the pace was good. They are pricy with the burgers averaging $13 (fries not included). We like it here -- dining room, service, food. As you might expect from the name, this is a burger and wine bar (beer and full bar also available). Not just beef burgers, but also waygu (aka "kobe"), turkey, and chicken. A few salads -- one of our party had the Chinese Chicken and liked it very much. My particular goto meal for my last two visits has been the California Burger Bowl with turkey, vice beef patty. Very tasty, and you can almost believe you're eating a healthy meal. Plus, we really like the zucchini fries -- tasty, not crisp, but not soggy either -- just right. There are also milkshakes. It's December, and the milkshake of the day was Candy Cane, and that was pretty good as well. Although we have not partaken of the wine or drinks section, it covers the back half of the menu, and all wines are available by the glass as well as by the bottle. We also tried the wings -- the single disappointment of our meal. Not to our taste -- I prefer wings that are not quite as spicy, and a bit crispier on the outside. Which means, of course, that they may be just the way you like them. If you sit on the covered patio (which we have not) you may be treated to a nice fire in the fireplace -- perfect for winter dining! There are some downsides to this location. Although the parking lot is large, it tends toward the crowded side, even on Sunday afternoons. And if you need to use the facilities, you may be waiting in line -- one person at a time, please. read more

The onion rings were my favorite. I love onion rings and am particular about them but these are greatness!! Take out disaster! We use to be big fans of Zinburger, so naturally when they offered 25% off take out we wanted to take advantage of a great deal. Multiple times we have ordered and picked up our food only to find they forgot our sides or entirely gave us the wrong order! It seems the kitchen and front of the house are unorganized and not able to handle the volume of orders coming in. They should put the focus back on making good food and providing for customers and maybe they wouldn't have to worry so much about making a quick dollar. read more

Tried new burger today, breakfast. Has egg, bacon, avocado, lettuce, mayo and some cheese. I need to avoid dairy rn so got it without the cheese or mayo. Really good!! If you're worried about it being dry without mayo, avocado does a great job of making it deliciously creamy and it's healthier than mayo. Egg is runny. I usually don't like runny eggs, but forgot to ask for it well done, but it was okay anyway cuz when they stick the stick in it to keep it all together, it punctured the yolk so the yolk emptied out. Got it medium and it was just so good. Quite greasy on account of the bacon but it's bacon...what do you expect...if you can't eat spicy and like eggs in sandwiches/burgers, get this one!! Also got the usual fries: zucchini, truffle, and sweet potato. We had a party of 5 and finished most of the zucchini and truffle, had about half order of sweet potato left which I took home with half of my burger.
