We have a bit of a drive to get to Proctor's Theater so we always stop at Zhu's for dinner. It's not the best Chinese food I've had (I grew up eating in Chinatown) but it's definitely not the worst. We usually are the only ones eating in the dining room but they do a big takeout business. I can't say a lot about the decor but my daughter loves the fish tank near the entrance. I think if you order from here you won't be disappointed. read more

The food here was average at best. The dumplings were a bit over fried. The chicken ramen broth lacked flavor and the meat a bit tough. I think because they offer a mix of many different Asian cuisines, perhaps some they do better than others. read more

I frequent this establishment quite a bit and I must say that I am impressed every time. Their food is very fresh and their service is amazing. They're very intentive. They're very nice and they know their business well. It's a very cute establishment as well with a lot of different ambience that are amazing to look at. Omg, this place has the very best Asian food ever!! We got sesame chicken, honey walnut chicken, seaweed salad, vegetable lomein, crab Rangoons....so flavorful and delicious!! This is my new Asian restaurant!! Ordered on line and picked up. Their chef's are so talented!! Great portions and yumminess, worth the drive for sure!! I love ordering from here. The food is always fast, fresh, and arrives hot; and I usually get it delivered, which is a feat in itself. I can't say much about the service or ambiance since I've never eaten inside, but Zhu's is easily some of the best Asian food in Rotterdam. Not the best Chinese food I've ever had but not the worst either. My husband and I got take out. I ordered the Sesame Chicken combo and upgraded to pork lo mein: the chicken was good but the lo mein lacked flavor and the pork strips tasted old or like it was sitting for a while before being tossed into the noodles. My husband got the bourbon chicken with pork fried rice. It was LOADED with peppers and onions and unfortunately the peppers overpowered the taste of the bourbon chicken. We really enjoy dining in at Zhu's, the staff is do nice and it's a very comfortable atmosphere. We always order the Szechuan Wonton, tender wontons with a spicy peanut sauce and refreshing cucumber slices. My favorite meal is the Triple Delight in garlic sauce, which includes shrimp, chicken and roasted pork with fresh vegetables in a spicy garlic sauce. We've ordered takeout and everything was just as good as dining in, but you don't get the same friendly faces that you get when dining in. read more

I had lunch on my day off really looking forward it. First, they will not substitute tofu for any meat on the lunch menu. This left me with vegetables, which is fine. But my broccoli was very greasy and overly salty (trust me I love salt!). The fried rice had too much soy sauce. Nice service and atmosphere. The price was right at $9 total. Great food, great atmosphere. Zhu's has something for everyone. Their fried scallops are amazing and their udon is cooked beautifully. Their chicken wings are THE BEST!!! Just found Zhu's - amazing. Have tried four different fishes in the past three weeks and they are all outstanding (both Thai and Chinese dishes). Fresh vegetables cooked perfectly, flavorful sauce and large pieces of meat. Great portions as well (always leftovers). Definitely worth trying!!!! read more

Everything we got here was incredible and the price really cannot be beat! This will be a new go-to for us for both dine-in and takeout! We got the taro bubble tea with rainbow boba (the rainbow was new to us and a fun twist), the egg rolls (some of the best I've ever had), gyoza (a favorite of mine that never disappoints), the house special ho fun (delicious and HUGE portion), and the chicken Thai basil curry (delicious). Went last night for the first (but, not the last) time. Everything was delicious. Lots of vegan choices too. I opted for thai and my partner went with Chinese. We started with bean curd soup and scallion pancakes. I got the thai basil bean curd. Partner opted for Buddha's delight. Very good service. Everything was so fresh. We will be back for sure. Grew up in NYC, I'm very picky with my Chinese food. Been eating it for 50 years. I'm so happy that I tried Zhu's tonight. Sampled an array of Chinese specialties and each one was as delicious as the previous. The atmosphere is a little basic but when you get the check you'll forget about the cloth napkins. Do yourself a big favor and get down here. If there's better Chinese food in the Capital District I've yet to find it! read more

Went for lunch. They had a nice lunch menu with specials. Had the chicken and string bean lunch special with wonton soup. Food tasted very good and portion size was adequate for lunch. The service was very good as we were checked on several times during the lunch. The restaurant was clean with many tables, although the decor was very dark. Only thing I missed was noodles for the soup and hot tea on the table like other Chinese restaurants I've been to. I would certainly go back because the food was very good. Try it out. read more

I hate that they charge extra to switch out the pork egg roll. What about people who don't eat pork? When they first opened, they offered to switch out the pork roll for a spring or shrimp roll free of charge. The food is good and the place looks and smells clean. I would recommend it to friends with a warning about the pork egg roll! The vegetable rice is good. read more

I used to go here every Thursday after Bowling. The food and service was always fantastic. I was a regular costumer and when they saw me, they knew my order each and every time. Sadly, overtime as the staff changed, so did the food and service. I had always ordered Sweet n Sour Chicken with the White Rice. The last 2 times I went here, I had to wait for an excessive amount of time. The chicken came out overcooked, it was more breading than chicken. They did not check on us at our table after getting the food. It's just gone down hill. They stopped caring it feels like, and for those reasons I will not be coming back. Even the coke was really flat! Not just once but twice on separate trips here it was disappointing. Unfortunately, I will not be returning. read more

This was outstanding. I placed a web order and had a special instruction and they called me to verify exactly how I wanted it. I had the sesame chicken combo with white rice and the wife had the beef string bean combo with shrimp fried rice. We also ordered the won ton soup and pan fried won ton. The best thing, nothing was overly greasy and everything was loaded with salt. The fried rice does have peas in it (which I'm not a fan of), but everything tasted great. Portions are standard sized, the garlic sauce with the fried won ton is a bit spicy, but the taste is good. Fully recommend. read more

I was in the mood for Chinese food for dinner. I went into the restaurant and it was clean and cozy. I ordered for take out: a Roast Pork egg roll, a Seafood Tom Yum soup, and a Roast Pork Lo Mein. The staff who took orders from me were friendly and helpful. The egg roll was great and not oily. The soup was ok. It had a lot of oil but there were plenty of seafood: one clam, plenty of shrimp, scallops, and crab meat. The Roasted Pork Lo Mein was very good. There was very little salt and I didn't feel bloated after eating it. I was satisfied with the whole order. I can attest that this restaurant does earn 4 to 5 stars. I'd recommend going there for either lunch or dinner. I'm going to go back and try their Ramen. read more
