I visited Ze's on a late Monday morning and was anxious to try the restaurant as I had read such good reviews. I'm afraid the service left a lot to be desired. Our server looked to be terribly overwhelmed and struggled to keep up with the needs of her diners. While we were patient with her, I grew frustrated after asking her for mustard twice only for her to hand me the bottle as I literally had two bites of my burger left. I also ran out of ketchup but was unable to gain her attention to get a new bottle until I figured I should just finished the fries before they got cold. She just neglected to apologize for the delay and seemed uninterested in providing any type of customer service. Being new to the area I was hoping to find a new "spot" but Ze's disappointed and I don't anticipate we'll be returning. read more

Ze's was pretty good! After the crushing disappointment of Hovie's being closed for no apparent reason I found this diner with the help of the Yelp community. Ordered the Ze's Slam with French Toast, Sourdough toast, scrambled eggs, hashed browns, bacon and a sausage patty. The toast came buttered, but no jam on the table. The server brought me their homemade jam that Yelpers are talking about-- but I DON'T think it's actually homemade jam. I think it's ice cream dessert topping. Very thin and sugary with little miniscule pieces of fruit in it. Personally didn't care for it on my toast, but would have been right at home on a Sundae! The French Toast was quite good! The syrup was actually perfect-- a thicker syrup that clinged to the french toast for a nice, even, sweet coating. Everything else was just OK. Maybe a step above OK, but nothing super amazing. No complaints. The decor was perfect 50's Diner fashion, the service was awesome and the food was, all-in-all, a hit. Everything on the menu is served at all times of the day, which is great. We visit the Minneapolis area 2x per year. This is our go-to breakfast place! The food is amazing! Everything is super fresh, delicious and they have gluten free bread!! The service is amazing! There's usually six months between our visits but the staff always remembers us. They really make you feel at home. The decor makes for a cheery, homey and very lively atmosphere, like a little piece of home. Hopefully we will get back there very soon. read more

We drove around Sunday morning to find a great breakfast spot. We went to 4 other places in Eagan before we settled on this. We often go to Jakes and we like it but wanted something new. We got there at 10:30 on a beautiful Sunday summer morning. The place was hopping and active. They had a young smart hostess who took care of us right away and got us seated. We thought it might be a long wait but they were moving them through efficiently. I ordered the Apple Fritter French Toast. It came with 2 eggs any style. I got them sunny side up and used the yolk like a dipping sauce. It was so fantastic and no need for the syrup. Jeff had the Mixed Mess. The hollandaise sauce on the Mixed Mess was really good too. He also loved the home made jam that came with it. Then we ran into some friends so that was fun too. We are for SURE going back. What took us so long to find this place. read more

We went here for lunch and saw that they serve breakfast all day. I had the steak and eggs and it was great. The steak was a little more done than I had ask for but it was still good. Their hibiscus tea is delicious cold or hot but it's WAY better warm. My husband had the gyro pocket and it was very tasty meat. The overall meal was very good. The only thing I didn't care for was the Egyptian tea since it was just a Lipton tea bag with some kind of loose leave inside the tea pot. I don't know what Egyptian tea is suppose to taste like and so wasn't impressed. The service was great. They have a variety of cuisine options. I like that the place is quiet and not too noisy. It seems like they get a lot of regulars since it's tuck away in one of the strip malls in Eagan. I like that they have build your own juicy Lucy on Tuesday. Love their Elvis wall decor. Haven't been to Ze's in a while. Wait staff still friendly and attentive. However, the food was very lacking. Meal 1 came with eggs fried not scrambled as ordered. The toast was burned on one half and not toasted on the other. The substitute piece came as the butt end of the loaf and torn apart, not cut. Meal 2 was Huevos Rancheros. However, it was the worst example ever. The tostada shells had a rancid flavor, the salsa watery and bland, very few black beans, the eggs barely cooked, not over medium as ordered. The staff is friendly and efficient each time we dine here. The food is good comfort food. The whole family will find something to eat and it has a vast enough menu to try something new each visit. Food is satisfactory. Don't order for delivery through Uber Eats. Although a discount or promotion is advertised, Ze's delivery prices are $2 to $3 more per item than pick up negating any such discount or promotion. I find this misrepresentation hard to stomach. read more

The diner has a 50s theme. It's clean and bright. It was a quite night with only a couple other tables occupied. I think their location in a strip mall might mean they get passed over for some of the area's freestanding chain restaurants but I recommend you check this place out. I found it on Yelp as none of us were from the Eagan area. We had a Friday night dinner with a large group of family with 5 separate checks. Our group was two tables with 6 kids ranging from 8 to 16 years old and 7 adults. Our waitress, Michelle O., was excellent! The kids were all at one table and all placed their orders first then Michelle got their ticket into the kitchen so their food would come out first. Next she took the order for the adult table. She was efficient and entertained various special requests. The food came out quickly. Our soda and water was kept full. Our party had everything from pancakes to burgers and a variety of sandwiches. needed a quick bite & stumbled across ze; was impressed by the vintage/retro interior. i walked in with my smoothie & was asked ifbi wanted another drink (most restaurants would t low outside beverages; shows their very secure) all the employees on the floor were walking around servicing everyone in a quick graceful manner. something ive never seen at any restaurant ! i had my meal & paid in under 20 min mind you the diner was full & customers were walk in & fishing up every 15-30 min ! the moment someone left they would clean up & reset the tables & chairs. & employees were very conscientious about cleaniness & giving the best service. best diner ive ever been to & will return ! read more

I live and work extremely close to the area so I always keep my eyes open for new places. I've been wanting to try out Ze's for a while and finally got the chance this Sunday, Cute theme 50's but I know just around the corner theres Juniors which is the same concept and has been in the area much longer (I haven't tried their food just yet) so I bet there gotta be some competition. Anywho I ordered the Ze Slam which is a wannabe Grand Slam from Dennys I guess you could say. The pancakes were nice and fluffy prob the best part of my slam everything else was nothing to be special about the sausage was patty shaped instead of a roll. The hashbrowns were nice and crispy but again had no flavor. My boyfriend ordered the Big Mouth Burger he said it was good and big. The order came with fries it looked almost like 10pieces of french fries which made me laugh but thats ok but they weren't too tasty just had some seasoning on top. My brothers food was the most disappointing of the meal he ordered a steak and eggs when asked how he'd like it he ordered medium well. Got the food and it was definitely cooked very well. When I say very well we compared it to beef jerky super cooked and chewy running the steak knife through multiple times to cut the piece of meat he ate one bite. While my boyfriend and I tried saving it (we hate wasting food) but barely got to half the steak before giving up. I won't be coming back even if there was a coupon theres too many other places that is cheaper and better tasting in the south suburbs I was hoping this was going to be a new regular joint for myself. Hubby and I stopped in to Ze's last month to give Eagan's newest restaurant a try. First impressions: white glove clean, super-friendly staff. You get two stars right off the bat for those categories in my world. The owners' son was our waiter, and he shared the family restaurant history with us and made us feel like regulars, even though it was our first visit. I had the fish tacos, hubby had the beef stroganoff which was the dinner special. The fish tacos were fresh and hot...missing a little kick of spice, but overall very good. Hubby's stroganoff was a very generous portion, and he enjoyed it. We ordered desert, I had the baklava and hubby had a huge piece of chocolate cake, rich and delicious. My baklava was one of the best I've ever had. Frequently, baklava ordered at restaurants is drowning in honey or syrup, and you can't even taste the nuts because the sugar is so oppressive. Ze's baklava is light on the honey/syrup and the nuts are the showpiece of the desert. The phyllo layers were nice and crispy on top, too...but sweet and moist in the middle. The generous portion of baklava is a bargain at $3 Hubby returned with our sons for breakfast and they all enjoyed the huge portions. They're not pulling off the 50's diner theme real well, but I'm not going to ding them on decor. That theme is overdone in my opinion, and Junior's right around the corner has the exact same decor, so it's a little overkill in Eagan. It's such a neutral decor in Ze's, they could easily switch to something a little more current. read more

My favorite is the breakfast burrito and the salsa tastes like it is homemade. The service is also great - last couple of times the owner has even stopped by to ask us how the meal was. After a long search, we finally found the spot for breakfast! Ze's is a hopping place with consistent quality food. The old school diner is exceptionally clean and the service is outstanding! Eggs are cooked to perfection....unlike most short order eggs. Pancakes are fluffy and ultra-tasty. My wife had their Cajun Breakfast and loved it! The plates are overflowing with food and will have you walking away stuffed! I look forward to trying their Juicy Susie which is their rendition of the Juicy Lucy. My Dad says it's outstanding.... Give Ze's a shot... You won't be dissapointed! read more

Took my girls to Ze's for breakfast this morning after an early morning soccer game based on other yelp reviews, and i had to add one of my own. DECOR - First impression was of a cute little 50's style diner. Classic cars and classic movie imagery all over the walls, checkerboard floors, counter in the back with an open kitchen. Looked the part of a fun breakfast spot. Clean, bright, retro padded chairs...it just made you smile to walk into this place. Opened the menu and got an immediate red flag though. The menu was kind of all over the place. Is it burgers, is it pasta, is it mediterranean, is it asian, is it mexican, is it southern soul food?? Normally when restaurants do this, they are trying to cater to a broad spectrum of tastes. What i have found generally is that the places that have an overly diverse menu do a mediocre job at everything rather than doing anything particularly well. Well, thats where the red flags ended. Although the menu is a little random, it was a really tough choice to nail down a breakfast. Lots of standard favorites, but lots of really different options for those such as myself who like to try things that are a bit more off the beaten path. FOOD - I got the king tut sandwich, which i was informed by my server was an egyptian street food. Hard boiled eggs sliced and sauteed with feta cheese served on a pita. Simple, perfectly cooked, and the flavor combination really worked well. The girls got a gyro omlette, which was wonderful. Gyro meat was minnesota spicy and delicious and omelette was perfectly cooked. And also the huevos rancheros, which was also perfectly cooked, mn spicy, and delicious. The homemade jellies are to die for as well. SERVICE - The service there is outstanding. Our server was a very nice young man who was friendly, knowledgeable, and constantly smiling. He had a lot of recommendations on the menu, and was just a pro all the way around. And looking around the restaurant, it appeared that all the servers were the exact same way. Happy, smiling, friendly, and courteous. Ticket times were really fast, the food came out hot, and the server kept the glasses full and the plates cleared off well. FINAL WORD - The only issue i had with this place was my own pre-conceived notions of the randomness of the menu. But that isn't the fault of the good folks at Ze's. The upside to having a very random menu is the possibility of doing it all right. And in this case, we did one of their specialty breakfasts, a mediterranean dish, and a mexican dish, and all were fantastic. The wait staff was wonderful, and the whole experience makes me want to go back and see what else they do well there. Very nice work Ze's diner, we will definitely be back again and again. Ze's Diner is gem! The service is fantastic and the owners of the establishment are visible talking getting to know their guests. I recently took my two kids there for breakfast and when we left my son said "WOW that place is just like Disneyland everyone is SO nice. (we had just returned from LA) There are a ton of options on the menu and the restaurant is very clean and vibrant. It's a cute diner, but it was a fairly underwhelming experience. They brought me the completely wrong meal and had to make correct one after realizing a Reuben and eggs Benedict aren't the same thing... The sandwich was literally the saltiest sandwich I have ever eaten to the point I almost didn't eat it at all, and I love salt! It's fairly close to my house so maybe I'll give it another go and try some of their breakfast foods. read more
