Oh Wow! I have been to Ze's Diner in Bloomington and the Eagan location about 6 times now for breakfast. Each time, fantastic! My mainstay for breakfast is Perkins. Or was. Try Ze's, If only once. If you don't like it, go back to Perkins. I brought the family unit to Ze's about two weeks ago in Eagan, Mn, and the food/service did not disappoint. We ordered the Rancher for the wife, the kids pancakes for the daughter, and the chicken fried steak breakfast for myself. Delicious. Plus they have two different hot sauces on the table, as well as their homemade jam! I thought it was ketchup at first, but I put it on everything. This is now a weekly event for breakfast. Was hungry for a Ze's breakfast, however the food at the one near my home has not had good food for quite a long time. My wife has been to this location several times and has enjoyed it so decided to make the drive. It was definitely worth it! Despite being extremely busy, the restaurant was clean and service was excellent. We knew what we wanted so ordered as soon as the server came to our table. We received our drinks right away, and although we didn't time it, felt like it only took 5 minutes to receive our food. We watched around us and it appeared that was the case with all their tables/customers. Ordered the country fried steak, over medium eggs, hash browns, and toast. Went here for a business brunch. Private lot right our front. The spaces are sort of small. I did witness a shoplifitng at the drug store adjacent to the parking lot. It was the first time I was there, i ordered a Reuban sandwich. It was the worst Reuban sandwich I ever had, I could only finish less that half of it because I was getting sick to my stomach. I completed my goal of eating at every Ze's in the state (and the Cahill Diner too). The experience here was the best I've had. Our server was wonderful. My egg's Benedict was perfect. The eggs were cooked to perfection; English muffin was toasted just right and the hollandaise was wonderful. My husband said his bacon omelette, toast and hasbrowns were excellent. Ze's Diner is the perfect spot for classic breakfast diner food! I've eaten here twice and each time the service has been friendly, fast, and attentive. My coffee never was low. It's a cute little retro vibe and the prices are reasonable as well. We arrived around 9:30am on a Saturday and we were seated right away, but there were only a few tables left. We got the hot and spicy bowl and it was so good we dug into it before I could take a photo of it. It had so much flavor and a decent amount of heat. The little bits of diced peppers and onions added the perfect texture crunch to the dish. Hash browns are nice and crispy and the toast is thick and buttery. The ham was a little too sweet for my taste. The star is the rhubarb jam, perfect for putting on pancakes and French toast. read more

How can you go wrong with all-day breakfast lunch and dinner?!?! Having some good friends come in from out of town and staying in Eagan I was on the search for a great breakfast spot that wasn't too busy around 8am, and Ze's was certainly on the menu. Having the best intentions of only having breakfast I asked our awesome waitress Michelle if I could order anything off the menu and she said yes, so it was game on. Making a completely sober decision, I ordered the fried pickles and cheese curds for a little bit of Midwest flare for my Southern friends to start, along with the Fiesta omelet for myself, substituting the tortilla and set up the bread to wrap up my cheesy, meaty breakfast item. Combining my DIY burrito with some of their house-made salsa and the Ze's sauce was a great decision! My friends ordered the taco omelet special and the regular breakfast with bread and their homemade strawberry rhubarb jam which was fantastic. You know a diner is going to be good when it is packed and it was packed! We went on a Sunday and they have a sign posted about only staying an hour due to how busy they get. There are people bussing tables very quickly so turn over is fast! We were sat down fairly quickly and our waiter got drinks right away! Our server was very nice and fast! The atmosphere is fun and filled with plenty of cool 50's diner items! My mom said it felt like being transported back in time :) The biscuits and gravy were delicious, peppery and creamy! The bacon is thin and not very crispy. Just depends on your bacon preference but I typically like a crispier bacon. I had read a lot of reviews about the apply fritter French toast. There was a weird after taste that I didn't care for... I'm not sure what happened. The club sandwich my mom got was classic and tasty! The fries were also very good!! I've eaten here before and the food and service are both generally good. I ordered online for just pickup of a single stack of pancakes. $12 for three pancakes and no sides (meat, eggs, etc) is a little absurd. They were okay, but not $12 okay. With the price of eggs seemingly going down, Ze's should strongly consider lowering their prices. these were $7 pancakes max. In addition, there isn't a designated pick up area. When I entered the diner, there was only one server working, in the middle of taking a large table's order. He said I could sit wherever, but I told him I have an order to pick up. He brushed me off and said he'd be right with me. luckily, I saw my order sitting on the counter and grabbed it. so glad I wasn't going to just sit there and wait for him to be done as my food was getting cold. This was a Saturday evening, btw. You might be saving money on staff, so you can afford to offset with the food prices. read more

Efficiency without fussiness is what comes to mind immediately when I reflect on our breakfast here. There were 3 people working the relatively small dining room, and they were working it well. Set up as a relaxed retro-style diner, with music playing very softly in the background and lots of locals dotting the room, you immediately feel comfortable settling in. While there was a "please wait to be seated" sign up, patrons were advised to sit where they like as they entered. It was about 30% full when we arrived around 1030a & packed by the time we left. It's not a fancy establishment but it isn't the run of the mill greasy spoon either. We each opted for our choice of omelette, of which there were several unique offerings & 3 bread choices to pair with them. The ingredients used were fresh, food came up fast and hot. The ample "fillings" were served under the fluffy eggs, giving you control of the ratio. Bonus: the lovely house made jam was good enough to suck straight from the bottle (please don't) From my vantage point I was able to watch how the house ran. It was truly spectacular. 2 wait staff tended to patrons, while a 3rd person circled. Drinks were topped off regularly. Plates were cleared as quickly as they were set aside. Tables were cleaned and set as the patrons exited. The longest wait was for our bill, still under 5min. Prices are reasonable. Great food & service, a much better choice than chain diners with canned/frozen veggies - do yourself a favor when the diner mood strikes by giving these guys a go! read more

Came out here with a group of friends for breakfast and we weren't disappointed. Everything was delicious and we tasted amazing. I got a side of biscuits and gravy because it was recommended, and I must say, it's a must to try! I honestly, would just get biscuits and gravy and be satisfied. I've been to Ze's for breakfast a few times and finally made it for lunch with my husband. I had the patty melt with cole slaw. It was perfect and generous - so much that I had to take half the sandwich home. My husband had the club sandwich which was chocked full of bacon and smoked turkey along with lettuce and tomato. A good club sandwich is his "test" for lunch and Ze's did not disappoint. The fries that came with it were quite tasty and we took half those home as well! The service was quick, the food was the appropriate temperature and the decor is cute. This place is ALWAYS busy but the food and service never waver. Family brunch this morning was so great! Ze's was pretty packed, but we were seated right away and the drinks were brought out almost immediately after. The service was outstanding, very friendly and drinks were kept full. The food came out in what felt like a blink of an eye and our hungry bellies were happily surprised! I decided to try one of the off menu specials listed on their board when you walk in: the hot & spicy burrito - steak, chorizo, peppers, onions & jalapeños wrapped in a flour tortilla and smothered in cheese sauce. This burrito was actually a lot better than similar ones I have had at authentic Mexican restaurants. Get it while the special is still going- you won't regret it! My husband had the country fried steak which was very tender and the gravy had great flavor. Their hash browns are nice and crispy too! They have a pretty standard kids menu, my daughter loved the Mickey pancake- very thick and fluffy, studded with chocolate chips and topped with whipped cream. What more could a kid want? :) The diner is conveniently located in a strip mall near the center of Eagan with plenty of parking in front. It has a great retro design, red and white leather booths and chairs, and black and white photos/memorabilia studding the walls. They even have a super cute traditional diner counter you can sit at and a case loaded with a variety of treats I wish I had room to try today. The corned beef hash was just pre sliced corned beef and frozen hash browns cut up and then microwaved? There was no crispy to this at all.the coffee cup I got was so dirty inside is was gross. This diner is a delightful discovery! It is gratifying to experience someone execute their job to perfection, and the crew here did just that. We arrived at 11am on a Sunday, and despite a full house our wait for a table was less than 10 minutes. I asked if there was a wait list, and the hostess replied, "yes". When I asked if I could add my name to the list, she tapped her forehead and smiled, and said "no need...it's up here". True to her word, we were seated shortly thereafter. I'd guess it's a family run business, as all the staff looked like they could be related. The staff appeared to be a well-oiled machine and worked together well; each performing their roles with no wasted movements. Given how busy they were, it's impressive how attentive they were, and how quickly the food arrived. These folks are professionals, who know what they are doing. The menu is extensive (and full of foods you'd expect at a diner), and they serve breakfast all day.Since breakfast is my favorite meal, I knew I was in for a treat. I appreciated that they served Coke products (a pet peeve of mine is when restaurants serve only Pepsi products, which I detest). I ordered the Gyro Omelet, which was a unique take on breakfast foods that did not disappoint. The omelet was served with hash browns and toast (includes homemade strawberry rhubarb jam for the toast). My dining partner got Ze's Slam (pancakes, eggs, bacon, toast, hashbrowns ), and it was equally tasty. The food tasted like it was homemade, which is a quality I look for in restaurants. All of the plates of food coming out of the kitchen looked fantastic. The vibe of this diner is kitschy 50's diner, and it was fun.
