We went on a Saturday for dinner and they were very busy, but we were still able to get seated right away. Service was friendly but a little slow with it being so busy, and it was loud inside. The smoked wings were awesome and one of the best bites -- they're served uncut and the bacon bourbon glaze was incredible. The walleye fingers were on the smaller side and tasted standard. The wedge salad was a little sad and could have used more toppings for the portion of lettuce. The bacon bourbon burger could've used more seasoning in the patty, but the sauce was flavorful. Great spot! They have a fun speakeasy in the back that I've been to a number of times but this time we checked out the front! It's a casual burger joint vibe with great burgers, apps and cocktails. We had cheese curds and fried pickles to start, the pickles were lightly breaded which was perfect and the curds were delicious dipped in the sauce it comes with. I had the chicken fried burger for the main course and it did not disappoint, I'm a big chicken fried steak person and this was that in burger form. Friday night I went to Burgers & Bottles in Eagan with brother and gf, this place only has Burgers, apps, and salads. All of the burgers are single smash only besides one Double smash (that's what I got) my brother got one of of the main burgers. Here's a pic of my "Double" absolute joke, White Castle has much thicker meat than this. My brother and I felt completely ripped off. There should be laws about which restaurants can call themselves burger joints. First time trying this restaurant. Went off reviews raving about the burgers. I can say that I don't know why anyone would rave about this place. With tax a single patty cheeseburger with bacon and fries is $17. Picked it up, the burger is embarrassingly thin. 1/4". It was over cooked. Only redeeming factor is that the taste of a couple of the bites I took were decent. No better than Culver's though. The bottom bun was inedible because of all the canola oil grease coming off the wildly overcooked grease soaked, nasty tasting, fries. After tasting these horrible fries, I asked what kind of oil they are fried in. They told me Canola (toxic) and olive oil. No one asked if I needed napkins, mustard, mayo, ketchup, or napkins and none of those were included. Now my hands smell like old rancid canola oil. Skip it and go to Culver's or chilis or even Wendy's. Any of those mid range burger places are far lost costly and have better standards on taste, quality, and portion size. Landed in St Paul starving g and coworker suggested we give this place a try. Walk in, super nice bartender asks us if we are here for food or drinks? I'm like both? but we ended up seated in the bar area right inside the restaurant. Drinks and food orders taken almost instantly. The food, cheese curds and a burger arrived piping hot and nothing but accolades in the food and service. Store is tidy, well lit but not too bright so a pretty good place for me.... But it gets better. There is this door in the back of the room. It's not your normal door but after we settled our tab at the bar, we walked thru this kind of hidden door to reveal a bourbon bar with one of the largest collections of bottles I've ever seen at a bar. We sit down, again, bar tender is super friendly and attentive. Prices for pours are decent after you finally make a decision on which one you want to start with because it is a bit overwhelming. In the end, after the -12 below temps, I decided wholeheartedly that the only reason I'd ever move here was because of this whiskey bar. :) read more

Came in on a Sunday afternoon for a bite. Was a little disappointed in first impressions as I stood and waited for almost 5 minutes for someone to come to the host desk. Others that came in during while I was there either stood for awhile or just sat themselves. To be fair, it was one guy that was running the host desk and serving. The ambiance was fun! So many bottles of sodas on the wall but it didn't feel overly stimulating or cluttered. Everything from the seating, to the lighting and even the bathrooms were clean and well kept. The food was good! The cheese curds are an absolute must! Ask for the chipotle ranch as well! So good to dip between the sweet sauce and the salty smokey chipotle. The burger was tasty! The brisket was tender but got a little fatty towards one end of the burger. This would be a great hang out with friends, a date or even just a quick bite on your own! Stopped in on a weeknight and sat at the bar. I loved that they not only had a great beer and cocktail list but also an extensive craft soda list too. Apparently the Manhattan must be their specialty because the bartender was constantly making for guests. I had the bacon cheeseburger with chips. It was delicious. When this place first opened, we were frequent customers and LOVED the ambiance and the food was great. Not so much anymore. We received some gift cards and were anxious to go back. We hosted our out of town company with children over spring break in March 2025. It was a week day lunch trip. The bartender was also the host, waitress and maybe even the cook? The cheese curds were great, the rest of the food was almost inedible. The burgers were over cooked and dry, The cheese on the burger tough and burned around the edges. French fries were cold and unappealing. The kids got a kick out of the pop assortment and everyone helped the youngest eat the warm chocolate chip cookie that accompanied the kids meal. This Saturday for dinner, we tried again. The beers were great. I asked the waitress specifically if the burgers were any better. She said they were ordering patties from a new vendor and all were cooked "medium". Again, the burgers were charred and dry. The six year old gaged up a big black piece of meat he could NOT chew into his napkin! It didn't get better- French fries still suck and the cookie was a snickerdoodle. I believe he was a manager or the owner goes by the name of Ben. He's a white gentleman with glasses.. as I was sitting down eating my food he came approached me at first friendly asked me how was my meal everything was going the second time he approached me. He sat down at the booth. I was at in the conversation, just got weird. He proposed that he will give me the mail. I was eating for free and extra funds if I perform on him. Wouldn't let me ask any questions and completely made up a lie about why I couldn't be there and refused to give me the owner number so I can talk to the owner and see what was the issue, and did not want me in his establishment. I can't recommend this restaurant. We waited forever for our waitress, then we waited forever for our drinks. My husband was brought a different drink than he ordered and it was more expensive than the one he ordered. The floor was so slippery I almost fell going to and from our table. My friends and I came for brunch at Volstead House, but when we got there they said it's not open until 4pm, and they currently had a wedding party back there so we couldn't peek at it either. Anyhow, I told them their website stated they open at 10am they told me the website isn't updated...yeeeeah we should have left at that moment. Instead we decided to eat at the front room Burgers and Bottles. Some of their menus had drinks "x'ed" off, some didn't, the silverware was dirty, our dry burgers were well done not medium as advertised, and the service sucked. I ordered a coffee and was told they don't have coffee mugs because they were in the backroom, the Volstead room that we could all see into...so she was going to give me a to go cup, which would have been fine. She came back with a coffee mug and said she scrounged one up...thanks, you made the trek across the threshold of the room next to you and grabbed one. I am so thrilled. She gave us Splenda, we asked for real sugar and the response was they don't serve that because they are small. Wtf? You serve brunch, you can buy packets of sugar at Sam's Club next to you for coffee. Then there was a hair in my coffee mug. The Benedict came with basically a hard boiled egg. The yolk was cooked to oblivion. Okay, so when this terrible meal finally came to an end she asked if we wanted one check or separate . We asked for separate checks since we ordered different items and costs were different. Ummm...she came back, gave us three checks, but just split the total in three. Wtf? Initially went for the speakeasy hiding in the back, but the hours were deceiving and they did not open until 4pm. After two other failed attempts at finding food that day, we figured it was the same kitchen so let's give it a try! They have several interesting burger creations, similar to other burger joints nowadays. I chose the Fired Up Burger with a side of battered green beans. Not incredibly spicy, but tasty if you use the dip they provide on the side. The burger patty style is similar to something you would get at a sports bar. The overall vibe and decor reminded me of one as well. They do ask how you'd like the burger cooked, however both came out well done. I also ordered the Walnut Manhattan, which was a sweeter variation as expected. The other non-alcoholic beverages they provide are bottled and creatively displayed on the wall. I'm well past due on leaving this review, but I still feel the need to leave our review from our visit for my fiances birthday this past fall. As they didn't take reservations we made sure to show up early as we had a group of 10 or so. We quickly put our name on the list, saw the place was busy, and also realized we were behind a group of the same size that appeared very agitated that they were still waiting to be sat. We hopped over and grabbed some drinks at the bar next door Volstead and listened to some music for about 20 minutes before coming back into the restaurant area. We saw that the restaurant was starting to clear out, but noticed the group in front of us was still waiting to be sat as well - which got us a little nervous. The workers kept telling us not to worry we'd be sat shortly. So we waited, and waited, and waited. We waited well over an hour and a half to be sat for dinner. We watched as many tables became available due to how late it was now getting and were never once talked to about maybe splitting our group up into separate tables so we could be sat and eat. We eventually asked why the delay and were told that there was a group sitting at the table they were planning on putting us at and that they had paid but had not left yet. We pushed back on them to ask them to head to the bar as they had a group waiting and they basically said they weren't going to do that. Eventually this group left and we were able to be sat, at this point half of our group had to leave as they had kids and needed to get home. About half of our group remained, our server wasn't very interested in us at this point, which just made this experience that much worse. We had our orders ready to go once we were sat, because at this point it's almost two hours we've been waiting. Once our orders were taken that was about the last we saw of our server until he dropped off the bills (which weren't correct the first or second time they were brought). No check to see how our food was, no check to see if we wanted more drinks (spoiler alert: it was a birthday, and we had just waited two hours for food, of course we wanted drinks) it was truly awful. Now I've worked in the industry for a long time, I know what it's like to have tables like us, tables that are frustrated at a long wait, poor service and clear lack of organization. However, we were prepared, we came early in anticipation of our larger group and had we been asked to split up into separate tables so we could've been served faster we absolutely would have. We were annoyed at the restaurants lack of initiative in asking the previous table to move to the bar, etc. so we could be sat. We were annoyed at the lack of really anything with the staff, there was no effort to apologize, try to explain, etc. This is a common practice when dealing with busy nights. It was just exhausting and honestly ruined the birthday. On a final and better note, the food and drinks were good. However, after the experience we all left agreeing we wouldn't be back. Will we stop by Volstead for drinks? Absolutely. Will we be eating at Burgers and Bottles? Absolutely not and probably not recommending them to anyone else unfortunately. read more

I called before they opened to see when I cold place my order. they still answered and let me know 1130 for their 12 open. Buying my team lunch for a birthday and this is where the birthday boy wanted- rave reviews from him and after experiencing it, I wish COVID wasn't a thing so I could experience on a normal night! We always sit at the rail and there were empty seats so the host gave us menus and allowed us to seat ourselves. The bar area is not very large and we sat for 12 minutes while the bartender shared pleasantries with another couple,bar backs washed glasses and went in an out of the bar, wait Staff made drinks for their tables all in very close proximity to where we were seated and not one person even acknowledged us. My son and I stopped by here on a recent Saturday. The first thing to catch one's eye is a huge selection of bottled pop on shelves reaching to the ceiling on the wall opposite the bar. They do offer a staggering number of obscure, regional and hard to find sodas. We started with Smokehouse Poutine (fries, cheese curds, home smoked brisket, gravy). Delicious! The brisket was an excellent addition to the traditional recipe. I ordered a Grilled Mushroom and Swiss burger while son went with the Bacon Brisket Burger. Both were huge, well prepared, flavorful and satisfying. I added a punchy Cock 'n Bull Ginger Beer that was a tart, refreshing accompaniment to the rich food. Son had a XXX Root Beer ("Tastes like root beer used to taste"). There are many, many very good to great burger joints in the metro. Certainly no shortage of choices. That said, in my estimation this place is well worth your consideration, especially if you live in or are passing through the SE 'burbs. read more

The food was a letdown tonight, and we won't be back. It was a far cry from the first and only other tasty meal I had here around five years ago. My husband had the brunch burger, no pico with a side of curds. I had the bacon cheeseburger, no BLT or mayo with a side of fried pickles. My husband's was missing the LT but was otherwise okay - nothing special but not terrible. The curds were also decent, with the real winner being the house made berry jam. My burger on the other hand had a semi-dry bun, no onion, and didn't even taste half as flavorful as a McDonald's patty. The thin burgers were somehow still pink inside, and the cheese looked like it'd been through hell and back. A good burger here should be table-stakes. Let's preface with the burgers were great. The service... I don't know if I'd come ever again because of how terrible it is. We've tried this place multiple times and every time the service slacks. We come once or twice and the service sucks and then we have an awesome server and we come back and strike out again. The hosts were new and it was so cute for my industry heart to watch new hosts be broken in... but they were telling people it was a 30-50 minute wait at the door. If the parking lot was not enough to deter you- a 50 minute wait most definitely will. But giving a wait time with a 20 minute difference; I didn't know if I should laugh or cry. They had originally messed up my reservation and placed me on a waitlist for volsteads. Our table of three was then waiting for a table to be cleaned off and next to be sat. But then another table of three walked in and I'm not sure if the new hosts- bless their hearts mixed it up or what. After they apologized it was another 15 minute wait until we were sat. Our server was also the bartender and she didn't greet us for another ten to fifteen minutes. In that time she was triple sat. Our whole experience start to finish was two hours. I would've had a better experience had our server been a little more attentive. I sat with an empty glass even after the dinner crowd had died down. The table next to us who arrived fifteen minutes after we were originally supposed to be sat were sat ten minutes after us (one of the tables our server was triple sat with) our server was not very consistent and lacked time management skills. She also was not very friendly, and was not efficient while she worked which explained the slow process but also why we sat for two hours and the table next to us sat for less than an hour. We'll probably try it again in a few months... hopefully their FOH is a little more seasoned by then. Their BOH; chefs kiss. Besides my cold waffle fries the food was nice and crisp; and not overly greasy (past experiences here before they were). After seeing a delicious looking burger from this place online I decided to stop in for myself. They have so many unique burgers! Mac n cheese, cheese curds, avocado and brisket and more. I eventually decided to get the cheese curd burger and my boyfriend got the brisket burger with fries to split. While waiting for the food we ordered drinks. I got the white wine flight.. not bad but not great. The flight comes with preset wines Chardonnay, Riesling and a Pino Grigio. I would recommend doing a beer flight instead. They have a decent amount to choose including local beers. The food was really good. The buns on the burger are also worth mentioning, soft and buttery deliciousness. I also think it is unreasonable to charge an additional $4 upgrade for 15 tater tots.
