The food just needs to be improved! I went there pretty hungry for lunch and ended up super disappointed the food barely eatable. I received an extremely greasy chili dog (the bottom of the bun was stained orange as if it was literally just sitting in grease, I had to tear the entire bottoms off. The chili was COMPLETELY flavorless with a non meat like chew, thats really as far as I can explain that one. It was like there, but tasted and disintegrated as if it wasn't. As well as, everything generally just came out as if it had been sitting around, it was cold and a bit stale. I also ordered a "THE FARMER" from their breakfast menu, and though this was better and a little fresher, the potatoes were still cold and mostly uneatable. So, inna nutshell I haven't tried everything, but this isn't the first time a meal I've had from there came out subpar. Price to quality food ratio id have to rate it like a 2-3, the hotdog was 8 dollars and "the farmer" was around 13-14. With that in mind, to have points where I am genuinely STRUGGLING through my meal is crazy. I would have to rate my overall experience between a 3 - 4 outta 10. On the advice of the counter worker, I ordered the Crispy Chicken Sandwich. It was so overcooked with black pieces from the fryer attached to the bottom. I threw it away after 2 bites. The fries were so greasy and everything tasted like onion rings - they must share the same oil. Worst restaurant I have been to in a long time. So... I was not expecting this place to be in a Shell gas station... but this is the best "gas station" food I've had!!! I went on Yelp when I was heading to Eagan. I don't go there often so I wanted to see what was new I should visit. "Grab and go" was what I was looking for. Walked in and it was super cute! They had a nice seating area if you wanted to eat in and also they had many options for food. I ordered the turkey burger with cheese. I asked for no bacon and they assured me that it was duck bacon and not pork bacon in the patty. (They couldn't make without it). It also came with fries for only $9 and some change. Great value for what you get! The burger was flavorful and juicy. It was a shock! They also had pickled shallots and an herbed aioli that tasted like Greek seasonings. It was mouth watering. Great job on the food and service. It was slower, but I only waited around 5 minutes. Quick for turkey burger and fries. You go and pay at the gas counter. I would venture back! read more

Was flying into Minnesota to see family & since flight arrived @ 5:45am was looking for a breakfast place. Out of the 10 I bookmarked opted for this place for the reviews. Asian man was very nice & helpful & nice when ordering & even great when I went back to ask for salsa for oue burritos. Hispanic woman had an attitude & was rude. When she was calling out the order for pick up I went right up when I heard ours & said that it was mine. She looked at me kept calling out the order & I said it is mine again. Then with attitude says where's my receipt. Mind you I've watched all the other people (all men) be given their orders without a receipt being requested by her & with a smile. I've eaten here a few times, and for a gas station, this place is pretty cool. My tacos were very good, the cheese curds pretty good, the Mac & Cheese all right, and the pizza OK. The whole BBQ menu wasn't available when I was there last, so haven't tried it yet. You can do to go, sit inside in a very nice little area, or maybe sit outside on a sort of sidewalk. And you can get gas and use the decent size gas station market while there. And there's a nice bar next door. read more

For a restaurant that is inside of a gas station this place far exceeded our expectations! We had been receiving coupons in the mail all summer for this place and finally decided to take a chance and order some take out. When we pulled up the restaurant and saw it was in a gas station we were instantly a little apprehensive, however, we still decided to press on knowing that we are generally pretty laid back people so how bad could it really be? We ordered a sandwich and a burger to go and man it went above and beyond what we were expecting. Both of our meals were full of flavor, cooked well, and at a pretty reasonable price point. Was in a rush, looking for a burger joint to go to around 9:30pm near burnsville. Went with this place because of the rating, but should've paid more attention to the reviews. It's a deli inside of a gas station. Once you make your order at the deli, you are given a receipt to take over to the store register to pay for, then you go back to the deli to wait for your food. They do have a lounge area for you to dine in, which looks nice. I ordered the fried chicken (2.5/5) with onion rings (4/5) on the side. The fried chicken was thoroughly cook but not evenly cooked. Some parts of the chicken was over fried, which made the meat very dry on the inside. The burger consisted of a handful of dill pickles, which was a bit more than enough and I did take some out. The onion rings was coated with a well flavored batter and deep fried well. They were probably the only high light of the meal. My son got the bacon cheese burger (2.5/5) with fries (2/5). The burger had a very sad, very thin slice of beef patty. The fries were flavorless, stale, and soggy. Not sure if it was due to the late night that the food turned out like this, but I probably wont be returning even if I was in the neighborhood. read more

Sitting here in Farmer's Grandson blissing out because I am eating a whole bowlful of Chicken Tinga over retried beans. No one has ever offered let alone served me an entire bowlful of chicken tinga, usually I have to settle for a couple of fabulous tacos. Not here--Farmer's Grandson made it up exactly as I requested. I've eaten here several times an have never been disappointed. For breakfast I have gotten breakfast burritos with chorizo, a bacon and egg sandwich on toast or simply just donuts and they have all been delicious! For lunch I have ordered numerous wraps they have on the menu and they let you take away and add toppings to customize your eating experience. For dinner I have eaten here several times to get my comfort food fix. This place has really good mashed potatoes! Now remember, this is also a gas station so there is literally every single canned drink and bagged chip available to you. Their inventory of drinks, chips and candy is crazy! I was looking to get some lunch and picked up some food to go from Farmer's Grandson Eatery. This is the type of place that I enjoy going to. Family and locally owned. Their menu has lots of good looking options. I was in the mood to try some bbq so I selected their brisket platter. One of my few pet peeves when ordering bbq is when my brisket is not sliced thick. In this case, I was served thin slices. This is fairly common at restaurants that don't specialize in bbq. In fact it almost looked like roast beef, just smoked roast beef. As I tried a piece, my initial impression was replaced by being a bit startled by the nice smokey flavor. Being a traditionalist I am not a fan of sauce on my bbq. I picked up another piece and another piece. While the brisket was not overly tender or juicy, it did have good flavor. The fries were fresh cut and very good and their cole slaw was fresh and crispy. A decent lunch and very affordable. This is a place I would like to get back to again and try some of the other items on their menu. read more

I was just planning to get gas and when I walked in to pay the bill I noticed a big sign, that got my attention. Meat potatoes cheese gravy! They call this thing poutine. What is poutine I asked myself. The gentleman at the counter told me it only takes five minutes to make my poutine. So I settled up the bill and waited for my poutine. When I got it it was very large and in a Styrofoam container. I loaded up on all their house sauces. Here's the list: barbecue, sweet barbecue, bourbon barbecue, chipotle ranch. All of them are worth getting your fry and twosomes in them. So we headed out on the road and we opened up the box poutine. 5 people and 1 poutine and let's just say it got crazy. I've been back several times, some good some not so good experiences. It really seems to be hit or miss with this place. Once I got a burger with ingredients missing, other times my French fries are overdone. It just depends. Cheese curds are still delicious tho I'll be back here foooooor sure! I was kinda taken aback by the fact that it's attached to a gas station. When I see that I think of truck stops that are old, dingy and run down grossness that I wouldn't stop at unless I absolutely had to. But this was nothing like that! (Smiley face). I walked into a very clean and trendy space that was quite busy during the lunch time. Through the busyness, the employees were polite respectful and focused on making good food. The gentleman who looked like a chef told me as he handed my Cobb salad to me that he made it with love! You don't get that every day! Picked this place for its proximity to the airport and great yelp reviews. It's a little complicated. Order here, go over here across the store to pay, then go to another location to pick up your order. I saw my first ever Pepsi freestyle maChine here, so that was cool. Our food was only so-so and myself and my lunch companion felt sick the rest of the day. I tried the cheese curds (they come with a weird fruit sauce so ask for ranch), the cubano, and ordered the "kids chicken tenders" which eNded up just being the same as the adult menu and I was charged the adult price (this was after I asked if there was a kids chicken meal option and he said yes). Tried to ask questions of the cashier since the place was a little confusing, but she was leaning over the counter on her phone and seemed bothered by me. This place is amazing if you want a lot of food for cheap. I'm talking McDonalds cheap. You won't walk away remotely hungry! The first time we came here we ordered burgers and honestly weren't that impressed..but I believe they are more catered toward bbq. We ordered two pulled pork sandwiches and a Cuban..all come with fresh cut fries. Total was $22! I started watching them make the food and when the woman making the pulled pork sandwiches went and grabbed two massive handfuls of pork I was impressed...and then she put that massive amount on ONE SANDWICH. The Cuban was just as stuffed with yummy pork goodness. Don't worry..I made sure to get a big bite of both lol. Both were fantastic. I can not recommend the burbon bbq sauce enough..I honestly asked if I could buy some today ‍. I may be an addict now ‍ We will be going back to try all their other offerings. Great stop, one wouldn't know it's a gas station right off. You have to look past the menu, the groceries, the cheese curds, the smokehouse and then see people paying for gas. You'll also see a lot of people picking up to go orders. Like they are in the know. Go there and then you'll be in the know. A grilled chicken sandwich and a Chicken Torta with a side of beans, and a side of rice and a side of guacamole. Don't forget the cheese curds. Lunch for 2 was $34 with a drink from the grocery store. Great deal and delicious. Cool story about the family farm. Next time I'll try the smokehouse. read more

How 'bout we start with holding hands. I order the Monster Burger, get my receipt, pay at the gas cashier and quietly look the place over for 10 minutes trying to decide which way this is gonna go. My order comes up and I'm out the door with my TOGO box in hand. 10 minutes back to work and I gently peek under the lid of my styrofoam box. Looks decent. Double patty burger. They were pre-grilled and kept hot, but great flavor. Rustic cut fries; a little limp, but 10 min drive in January and food tends to cool. Fresh lettuce, devine bacon, fresh tomatoes and onions. All in all solid. I've eaten crappier burger's for more $$ and fries aren't a deal breaker for me. I like salty potatoes. So... The Farmers Grandson definitely broke the mold and I hope they succeed. This is a hidden gem and was perfect for our evening endeavors. My friend and I were looking for exciting eats but minimal human interaction. We got it! Lack of humans here is not a bad thing and certainly not any indication of quality. We made up stories about this being the scene for a coming of age movie hang out spot. Akin to 90210's peach pit or Friday Night Lights burger joint... it's undercover cool. We ordered the Poutine. It was fantastic! Lots of gooey cheese curds, gravy and they didn't skip on the meat. Big (still bite size) pieces of meat. The poutine was more than enough for the two of us to share, this is a good group appetizer or great for exciting leftovers with eggs the next morning! I ordered the pastrami on Rye and my friend ordered the Mexican sandwich that I can't recall the name of. I was too obsessed with my own food to pay much attention to hers. It was all well made food with good flavors and adequate sizing for sharing! We took half of everything home- which I like because great food makes good breakfast leftovers. The other YELP reviews are helpful with their advice on how to navigate paying. To recap- Order at the counter- pay the convenience store peeps and slide over to the pick up counter. The only reason it's not 5 stars is the styrofoam boxes. Those are a pain in the ass. They rip, they puncture, they are awkward and in the way. Plus styrofoam is just plain bad. It would be cool to have plate options for eat in. But then I'd need a box for my leftovers... hmm it isn't perfect. Ultimaspent too much time fighting with the stupid boxes during my meal. Now, about the sauce...I was excited about the sauces and was telling my comrade about the rumored exciting sauces. Here's what went wrong, she was doing food pick up while I finished buying chocolate for our next outing- a movie. I grabbed some ketchup and asked my friend about the sauces. She said our options were ketchup, mustard, mayo and ranch that was empty. I was puzzled because ain't nothing special about those condiments. I wanted something for my pastrami Sammy so I mixed together the ketchup, mustard and mayo to make do. We didn't think much beyond that. Oh how little faith I had in my fellow Yelp reviewers... As we prepared to leave and grabbed a plastic bag (#banplasticbags) for our leftovers, we noticed the fridge on the counter with the famous sauces!! DANGUT! Boy did we feel stupid. Too late now, we wouldn't have the joy of the sauce experience. Don't make our newbie doufus mistake! The fancy sauces are at the pick up spot in a mini fridge (with a glass door)- they aren't hiding it, we were just ill equipped for awesome-sauce awareness! I'll definitely be back. I am very disappointed in the service and quality of my order. Here are the main points from my experience: 1. My order was placed at around 6:20 pm and I was given a time of 6:55 pm to pick up my order. This order was not ready until 7:30 pm 2. The shakes that I ordered had no Oreo and tasted like banana. 3. My brisket burger did not have bbq sauce on it and my fries were not with the order, instead I received cold onion rings which I HATE. 4. I requested sauce on the side for the cheese curd burger and it came lathered on the burger. 5. I requested no bun for the fired up burger and it was served on a bun. 6. I requested gravy with the mashed potatoes which was not with the order. I did not order sauce with the chicken fingers and was given honey mustard. Every single meal from the order was wrong and cold. 2 of my family members used the word 'stale' to describe their food. On top of all of this, I was unable to call to discuss these issues; the line was busy. I emailed the above mentioned description of my experience and requested a refund.
