    The "Boss" sandwich with tots

The Boss breakfast sandwich is the bomb. Going back for this bad boy again. Everything bagel + egg + cheese + sausage + bacon + secret sauce + tots = awesome.

Biscuits and Gravy with scrambled eggs. Yum!

The Skyway Grill is the go to breakfast spot in downtown St. Paul. I eat there several times a week and the food is always great. I recommend the Boss breakfast sandwich on a croissant with avocado added, the biscuits and gravy with scrambled eggs added, or the French Toast. They also serve lunch, which I assume is equally as good, but I've never had it so can't provide a review. But with the variety of burgers they offer there is something for everyone. And the staff is fantastic!!! So friendly and courteous!!!! Don't be surprised if you see the owner Scott behind the counter or working the grill. He is a longtime restaurant owner in downtown St. Paul and that is because of the care he has for his customers and staff, and his desire to provide great food at reasonable prices. If you work, live or are just visiting downtown and haven't been to this place yet you need to check it out!

    Capitol burger and fries

I just ate at the Skyway Grill for the first time at lunch today. I'm not sure exactly when it opened, but it must have been very recently. They are in the old mcdonalds location. I ordered the Capital Burger, which had pepper jack cheese, grilled jalepenos, jalepenos bacon, and jalepeno cream cheese on a jalepeno chedder bun. Sounds like a lot of jalepenos, but it really wasn't too much. The cream cheese was very good and gave the burger a nice gooey texture. The bacon was a bit overpowered by all of the jalepeno and cheese flavor, which was a little dissapointing. Also, the burger patty was a bit thin and a bit overcooked for me. Finally, I thought the bun was too dry. It wasn't like stale dry by any means, I just prefer a more moist bun (usually buttered). Overall, with all the flavors combined, the burger was pretty good. I would order it again, but will probably try something else next time just to see what else they have. I also ordered fries, which were good but nothing exciting. Really not much to say about them. The menu is simple, they have about 8 pre-set burgers or you can build your own, I think 3 side options, and drinks. The prices are pretty reasonable I think; you can find a slightly cheaper meal in the food court, but they're going for a slightly higher end product I think. Good experience, fun to have new options downtown. Hopefully they do well.

A solid food court restaurant in a bank building downtown , with excellent and complex burgers. Clearly a local favorite.

I highly recommend The Boss breakfast sandwich or the Gyro - both are generously sized and have great flavor.

The tacos and quesadillas are solid and definitely worth trying, but I've been disappointed with the burritos and the pork al pastor. The carne asada burrito looked substantial at first, but it was overwhelmingly filled with plain white rice, which made it feel bland and not what I'd expect in terms of flavor or balance. The pork al pastor was even more disappointing. It didn't resemble traditional al pastor in taste or texture. It was overly sweet, lacked depth, and the pork itself was extremely dry, unfortunately dry enough to make it difficult to finish. There are still some good items on the menu, and the service keeps me open to giving them another try but based on my experience, I wouldn't describe the food overall as authentic or five-star quality.

The new owners, a corporation owning 6-8 other restaurants have CHANGED almost all the recipes for breads, cakes , wonderous cookies and 80 % of all pastries! No more butter, no more fine ingredients and no more of their once " Grossinger's taste/quality" STELLAR seeded rye bread! They even eliminated the lemon flavoring. In their incomparable lemon coconut cake! Their stuffed cabbage is one of their only true deli dishes left. Sandwiches are half their original size...... heart breaking after going there 3-4 times a week for 25 years........ Cecil's of course had to cut back on the $$ use of butter in their pastries. But they have WORKED VERY HARD to still retain their wonderous long long ago heart warming flavors. ALL their sandwiches are AUTHENTIC. Old world New York City flavors! Made with care and love. My husband loves their beautiful generous Nova salmon platte. Noshing away happily! I love their pastrami Rachel's with plentiful half sour pickles lots of Russian dressing and creamy Cole slaw. Wow. This is the…read morefirst time eating Dave's Hot Chicken (from the St. Paul Ford Parkway, Mn location). I don't know why it took this long to try it out, but I'm glad I did! I told my wife and 11 year old daughter today that this was going to be dinner, so text me what they wanted from Dave's Hot Chicken. The wife wanted the two slider (hot) meal with fries, no drink. The daughter wanted the 10 piece bites (mild) with fries and the Powerade slushy. I miss-ordered, this resulting in a large bill. First time error, but shame on me. I ordered 5 Ala Cart extra hot chicken fingers. The final bill was about $85.00!!!! I paid it, and was handed a receipt, and an electronic pager (yes, these still exist!). Seeing as everything is made to order unless you order online ahead of time, I expected a wait since I ordered in person. The Highland location wasn't too busy, so I got my food in about 12 minutes. I requested extra Dave's sauce, and they accommodated with about 6 extra packs at no charge. Just be aware, that sauce packets cost extra, so they did me a solid. Since I got 2 extra orders of fries, I punched a hole in the fry containers with a knife since it would take about 10 minutes to get home. I may have ate "some" of the fries while enroute. Fantastic. Crispy, hot, and well seasoned. When I arrived home, I was admonished by my wife and child that I got way too much food. But the accolades after they tried the food were amazing. They loved it. I loved it, and the dog, much to her chagrin, did not love it because it was a bit spicy for her. She got none. My daughter's meal was great. No spice (mild), and she loved the chicken bites and fries. My wife only ate one slider (hot) because the slider totally eclipsed the bun. She said it was very good. I tried all their food and then my extra hot tender. It was pretty spicy, but I may have to order the Reaper next time. Side note: The bill, as mentioned earlier was about $85.00. That's way too expensive for a fast casual meal for 3 people. That fault was mine. I accidentally ordered 5 Ala Cart extra hot chicken tender meals. I should have prepared better, and the cost would have hovered around $40.00. Still a bit spendy, but well worth it for the food quality. Lesson learned. Anyway, this was a great meal, and we will have it again in the near future. The only major downside was the Powerade slushy my daughter ordered. It was way too sweet. The attached picture was after we ate!

Again not strong flavor but made well. Upcharge $2 (service didn't mention) Atmosphere: Kinda loud because it's a smaller restaurant and harder to hear the person across from you. Nice older classic decor and look. Been there since 1986. Unfortunately the entree food was not good... Disappointed on the California Burger. Had no flavor. The tomato was bland and soggy, the meat had no seasoning or flavor. The avocado was dull and tasteless, Only good part on it was the lettuce.
