I have been twice and my last visit was underwhelming but I still give them a 5 stars. I'll come back to give them a best out of 3 The first time here I was so comforted by the truffle fries and their signature burger. I don't know what happened this last time but it didn't taste as fresh and came out a little warm. Oh but definitely don't skip out on their bacon wrapped curds. I forgot to order them this last time and boy did I regret it... I love the vibe, a bit of a classic diner joint with modern touches. The menu is fairly simple and straightforward with some twists. Service is friendly! I would recommend anyone to try them out. I will revise after my third visit, hopefully adding more compliments! read more

What a fun local joint! Great vibe, decor and service. Love all the old photos from NSP past. Get the fresh squeezed orange juice!!! The avocado toast was fresh and yummy. Others enjoyed the biscuits and gravy and the classic breakfast, although didn't love how the hashbrowns were prepared. Look forward to coming back for lunch or dinner. Patio in the summer too. North St. Paul has a nice little gem with Mac's Diner! I had originally heard about the burgers here, and being tired of our old standbys I wanted to check out some place new. After perusing the online menu (and Yelp reviews!) I was very excited by a lot of the other options. We had the Rosemary buffalo honey wings (good, but not sure the sauce was anything super special), onion rings (good) and the Mac Daddy burger (good - loved the pickles and fries). We also had a slice of the black bottom banana cream pie (mid). I'd love to come back and try the meatloaf, fish and some of the drinks looked tasty (I think there was a white russian style boozy milkshake offered - Yum!). I just opened the website and saw they had a burger of the week as well (wish I had known this!) Overall I really liked what we ordered. Its unclear to me if things are scratch made (we wondered if the blue cheese dressing was house made?) but regardless it was good and I thought prices were reasonable. Great neighborhood spot! Came for breakfast on the patio and was happy to see it was dog friendly! I have gotten burgers from the flat top grill during the car shows during the summer and they are very good. Prices are decent, although I do feel that I paid way too much for a side of avocado, but the food is good and the staff is very friendly. Went there for all you can eat wings. Space was well lit and seating was plenty. Service was friendly and quick. Drinks and wings refilled fast, and they even apologized for the shrieking kids behind us. The wings were pretty good, my favorite was the garlic ranch dry rub. Food was absolutely delicious. We went around lunch time during the week and it was not busy. Waitress was extremely nice and attentive, answering questions I had. I got the Miel Coffee and Macs Omelette, which were delicious and fresh. The coffee was so flavorful but not overly sugary and the omelette was absolutely divine. My bf got the Rodeo Burger and loved it as well, he usually doesn't like bacon but really enjoyed the crispiness that they prepared it at. He also got a raspberry milkshake and we love that they gave the extras in a separate cup. Stopped for a quick dinner at this long time institution of North St Paul. I grabbed a stool at the bar and got right into ordering. I'm still on an Old Fashioned phase so that was my drink of choice tonight. Dinner was a rodeo burger with fries. Their burgers here are smash burgers and they are so good! The rodeo had bacon, cheese, fried onions and special sauce. It was so fresh and hot when it came out of the kitchen. It came with a side of fries. Their fries are a nice meaty fry that was perfectly crispy on the outside and full of potato on the inside. Lithe bartender was friendly and helpful and very attentive. This is a great place for all ages. Nice kids menu and delish adult food and drinks. Def recommend! read more

My friend and I went for AYCE wing Wednesday ($16). Also comes with fries. Pictured are the wing of the week (horseradish sauce) and my favorite (rosemary and honey buffalo). The wings have a nice crisp to them. The horseradish sauce was OK. I liked how these sauces seemed to be blended into the wing where subsequent orders (not pictured) seemed like the sauce was just poured on just prior to serving. We tried the Thai Chili, the Cajun dry rub, Jamaican Jerk, and the garlic ranch dry rub, which is the only one I didn't really like. The bacon wrapped cheese curds with the blueberry dip on the side were a delight along with their tasty paloma! They have a nice patio for outdoor eats as well. read more

The wife wasn't feeling well on Father's Day so I took advantage of her illness to satisfy my need for a burger. My daughter and I visited Mac's Diner and although she doesn't care for burgers, she saw a tray of them go by and decided to join me in ordering a Rodeo Smash. It was so awesome that I now have a favorite burger in the Twin Cities, and my daughter is a smash burger convert. I've never seen her eat so much beef. We may have created a monster! Arrived at a very busy time. Slight wait for a table, but no big deal. Ordered beverages and tried reading the menu. Very difficult. Tiny printing and some blue printing on a white background was unreadable. Use your phone to blow up the menu or bring a magnifying glass. OK. Placed the orders. Pleasant waitstaff and comfortable area. Food was delivered and plates were mixed up which my partners found out after they started to eat. Got that straightened out and ordered a beer. I like Summit but it's not available here, so I ordered a brown ale. When it came it looked like Miller Lite. I'm not familiar with the brewery that made it, so I guessed it was what they considered 'brown ale'. After a couple of sips the waitress showed up with a real brown ale and said she had made a mistake. I would have definitely preferred a Summit EPA. All in all, we all considered it to be OK, but no reason to rush back. read more

While visiting family, we stopped by this local spot I hadn't tried before. Nestled in downtown North St Paul, Mac's Diner gives the traditional diner feel with new age options. We split an app and burger. The Spinach Artichoke Dip was garlicky and creamy although particularly oily. We used a couple of napkins to remove the excess oil. It's also served with grilled bread which appeared to basically be Wonder bread with a light toast and some garlic butter. The star of the show was the Mac Daddy burger. The smashed patties were flavorful and a bit crispy, and the combination of cheese, onions, pickles, and sauce were an absolute delight. The fries were meaty while also being crunchy and salty. As someone who grew up in the area, I loved seeing the personal touches. The pictures on the West wall were all local - the snowman (IYKYK), Miss Minnesota, 1960s hockey team, etc. They even have a burger for current Twins pitcher, Louie Varland, who was also brought up there. read more

I went to Mac's for the first time April 8, 2026. The menu was pretty standard for a diner, and in line with local prices. Our server was wonderful- friendly, knowledgeable and attentive but not intrusive. The decor was new but styled to resemble an older establishment - nicely done. The cheese in the mac was creamy like Ive never had before. The burger meat was cooked to perfection. Kudos to the person running the grill. Went here for an early dinner/late lunch, while I had some time to kill. I was lucky, that I was early enough for their happy hour. I ordered two domestic beers ($3.50 each at their happy hour price!), sliders, bacon wrapped cheese curds and a cup of chili. Service was quick, but not rushed. I did have to remind them, to bring me my second drink. The sliders were pleasant, but not great and the chili was plain. My favorite item was the bacon wrapped cheese curds, which they serve with some type of berry BBQ sauce. I liked it. I hadn't had a BBQ sauce like that before. Full meal, before tip, cost about $23 dollars. Overall, the food gets 3 stars, but the price and atmospheres bring the total score up to 4 stars. read more

My friend and I picked up a couple salads on our lunch break. Both salads were both tasteful and very filling! I got the Southwest Salad and my friend got the Mediterranean Bowl and we both added chicken. The place looks like an old diner inside that has been upgraded but has kept its charm. Went on a Friday around 10 am and it was pretty quiet. Location had plenty of on street parking. The restaurant is very large with nice diner decor. Waitress was attentive. The French toast was okay but nothing fancy as the crème brûlée sauce was not very strong so it gets lost so it just taste like regular French toast. The poutine is a 10/10. I recently visited Mac's Diner on a Wednesday night for the $15 all you can eat bone-in chicken wing special! While there I also ordered the Mac Daddy Burger as I have heard rave reviews. Upon arrival it was relatively quiet and we were seated immediately. As the evening progressed it began to get very busy which is always a good sign! Our server was also the bartender and while very friendly, was a bit on the slow side which could have been due to the extra duties with having to wait on the bar seats as well as the bar itself. The wings themselves were fantastic. Nice sized and perfected cooked. The sauces were just so-so and we tried everyone they had to offer. My favorite was the Jamaican Jerk. The burger was also just okay, in my opinion. Perfectly prepared smash patties, pickles and a pretty tasty housemade burger sauce. I would have liked to have a little more seasoning on the patties and the bun was fairly dry. Honestly I would order it again, though and give it another go.
