Okay YUM! Came here on a Friday afternoon by happenstance, and I was so glad to be there! There are plenty of options-for breakfast, brunch, and lunch! They have drinks and happy hour as well. Everything we ate, we enjoyed! I would definitely come back and try some breakfast food.
This was my third stop at MN Burger Week, and my favorite so far. I've never been here, and it was such a cute diner. The interior was comfortable, has lots of big screen TVs, and there was also a nice patio space. We got the $10 burger special, which was two smash burger patties, topped with smoked cheddar, crispy bacon, and some sort of mayo sauce. Cheese curds were also advertised on the burger (which I was looking forward to); however, if they made it to this burger, I missed them (or they weren't overtly present). The burger had lots of crispy browning, and it was really a tasty burger. It was also the first burger we've sampled in Burger Week that felt like their normal burger, and not a shrunk down burger for a promotion. I appreciated that distinction. We added sweet potato tots to the meal for a $6 upcharge, which was a "melt in your mouth" delicious option. We also got the meatloaf dinner. If I see meatloaf on a menu, odds are high I'll order it. It was really good: the meatloaf had a tasty sauce, the potatoes tasted fresh, and the green beans had a nice snap still. I really love it when restaurants serve vegetables this way: still crisp, but also tender. Our server, Nellie, was welcoming and friendly, and attentive when needed. Finally, the wall art showing local scenes was really cool and memorable. I see that they also serve breakfast. That might be our return visit.
What a fun local joint! Great vibe, decor and service. Love all the old photos from NSP past. Get the fresh squeezed orange juice!!! The avocado toast was fresh and yummy. Others enjoyed the biscuits and gravy and the classic breakfast, although didn't love how the hashbrowns were prepared. Look forward to coming back for lunch or dinner. Patio in the summer too. Street parking.
Another nice lunch at a very good restaurant. The food is always very tasty here and the service was excellent. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful.
Stopped in for lunch today at Mac's diner in North St. Paul. I had their Brisket Grill Cheese sandwich with fries. I highly suggest going for just that. They have a full bar. I did not partake this time. They have a full breakfast menu all day service. Dinner menu also for you later eaters. Great servers vary friendly. Go and enjoy.
Great neighborhood spot! Came for breakfast on the patio and was happy to see it was dog friendly! I have gotten burgers from the flat top grill during the car shows during the summer and they are very good. Prices are decent, although I do feel that I paid way too much for a side of avocado, but the food is good and the staff is very friendly. Cool decor on the inside and they have great specials during the week.
Went there for all you can eat wings. Space was well lit and seating was plenty. Service was friendly and quick. Drinks and wings refilled fast, and they even apologized for the shrieking kids behind us. The wings were pretty good, my favorite was the garlic ranch dry rub. The flavor of the week was Guinness mustard, not really something I'd get again. We also had the Mac Daddy burger, it was a decent smash burger.
Love that we have a nice place to grab breakfast (lunch and dinner too) in the neighborhood! Their Crème Brûlée French toast is phenomenal! Highly recommend. They have lots of indoor seating options as well as a dog friendly patio. During the summer months they are a staple at the Friday Night Car Shows with an outside grill serving a great smash burger! Service is always friendly and everyone working really seems to enjoy their job!
Food was absolutely delicious. We went around lunch time during the week and it was not busy. Waitress was extremely nice and attentive, answering questions I had. I got the Miel Coffee and Macs Omelette, which were delicious and fresh. The coffee was so flavorful but not overly sugary and the omelette was absolutely divine. My bf got the Rodeo Burger and loved it as well, he usually doesn't like bacon but really enjoyed the crispiness that they prepared it at. He also got a raspberry milkshake and we love that they gave the extras in a separate cup. We had to box our meals up since they were super filling and I got a Miel to go but definitely worth the visit, will be going more often!
Hello All I had forgotten about a new well newer restaurant in North St Paul. The restaurant has kind of a 50's diner style inside but with a cute surroundings. Ok now to the food. My breakfast was great. The other person in my party had the Biscuits and Gravy. He said his was great as well. They have a bar here as well. Now i want to try more. Great job all. The service was very pleasant as well!! Thank you
Stopped for a quick dinner at this long time institution of North St Paul. I grabbed a stool at the bar and got right into ordering. I'm still on an Old Fashioned phase so that was my drink of choice tonight. Dinner was a rodeo burger with fries. Their burgers here are smash burgers and they are so good! The rodeo had bacon, cheese, fried onions and special sauce. It was so fresh and hot when it came out of the kitchen. It came with a side of fries. Their fries are a nice meaty fry that was perfectly crispy on the outside and full of potato on the inside. Lithe bartender was friendly and helpful and very attentive. This is a great place for all ages. Nice kids menu and delish adult food and drinks. Def recommend!
Great burgers, full bar, retro, fun atmosphere and friendly staff! They can get busy so there may be a wait. Street parking.
My friend and I went for AYCE wing Wednesday ($16). Also comes with fries. Pictured are the wing of the week (horseradish sauce) and my favorite (rosemary and honey buffalo). The wings have a nice crisp to them. The horseradish sauce was OK. I liked how these sauces seemed to be blended into the wing where subsequent orders (not pictured) seemed like the sauce was just poured on just prior to serving. We tried the Thai Chili, the Cajun dry rub, Jamaican Jerk, and the garlic ranch dry rub, which is the only one I didn't really like. The bacon wrapped cheese curds with the blueberry dip on the side were a delight along with their tasty paloma! They have a nice patio for outdoor eats as well.
I have been twice and my last visit was underwhelming but I still give them a 5 stars. I'll come back to give them a best out of 3 The first time here I was so comforted by the truffle fries and their signature burger. I don't know what happened this last time but it didn't taste as fresh and came out a little warm. Oh but definitely don't skip out on their bacon wrapped curds. I forgot to order them this last time and boy did I regret it... I love the vibe, a bit of a classic diner joint with modern touches. The menu is fairly simple and straightforward with some twists. Service is friendly! I would recommend anyone to try them out. I will revise after my third visit, hopefully adding more compliments! read more
This was our first time trying out Mac's Diner and we came specifically for Minnesota Burger Week. When we arrived it was very busy, which I thought was a good sign for it being a random Wednesday evening. Unfortunately the area around the host stand is very cramped and made for some awkward standing and shuffling as people walked in and walked out. I was very impressed by the staff, especially the hostess who was always kind to everyone while working very hard to help clear tables, sit guests, and manage the wait list. Our waitress was very kind and helpful as well during our meal! Unfortunately, I was not a big fan of our food though, we both ordered the Curd Your Enthusiasm smashburger, which was a limited offering for Burger Week and featured cheese curds, spicy mayo, bacon, and cheese. The burger itself looked amazing and was a lot of food for the price, but the taste just wasn't there. The cheese curds and fries on the side had an old oil taste and the burger had an off taste that I couldn't quite place. It wasn't awful by any means and we both ate a good deal of our food, but neither of us would be interested in ordering it again. I got the feeling that we came on an unusually busy night and that they weren't staffed well enough to handle the crowd so I only took off one star for the food. Overall, I feel like our experience may not be what the standard experience is and I appreciate the staff working so diligently and being kind in their interactions. While the food was not to our liking this time, I would be open to coming again on a slower night and giving them another try! read more
Heads up bring a sweater. It's surprisingly pretty cold in the restaurant. Definitely recommend their onion rings appetizer. Cooked golden brown with a little crunch, the onion actually stays throughout the whole ring and doesn't come out when you take a bite and good portion, also not oily. Their Mac sauce that comes with it is pretty good too. Got the oreo shake and it was creamy and good flavor. The rodeo smash burger was better. The beef patty was pretty thin though. But had good flavor. The fries were cooked with a little fluff and good shape and size. Not oily either. Service was pretty good too. Also has outside dining. We had a great experience all around here!! Smashed burgers were pretty awesome, cocktails were tasty, and soup was creamy! Love the milkshakes as well -- perfect consistency. We stayed at the patio around sunset and it was great ambience plus our server was very interactive :) read more
The wife wasn't feeling well on Father's Day so I took advantage of her illness to satisfy my need for a burger. My daughter and I visited Mac's Diner and although she doesn't care for burgers, she saw a tray of them go by and decided to join me in ordering a Rodeo Smash. It was so awesome that I now have a favorite burger in the Twin Cities, and my daughter is a smash burger convert. I've never seen her eat so much beef. We may have created a monster! The fries were awesome as well and the service was outstanding! My only regret is that I didn't have enough room left to try their desserts. Next time (maybe)! read more
First time dining here. Really cute diner style place. I ordered the mushroom Swiss with fries and my husband got the grilled cheese and brisket sandwich with fries. They offer breakfast all day along with the sandwich and salads menu. Both of the things we tried today were very good. We had great service everyone was very friendly. We'll be back!! read more

Families, locals & out of towners, hometown feel/ambience at this hidden gem. Fully prepped bar (including nice cocktails), great tap beers, and generous portions of good tasting food make this a "must stop" venue. Don't be fooled by the friendly, relaxed vibe...it's a diner with attitude: tasty entrees worth travelling to North St Paul! Great service is exemplified here! While visiting family, we stopped by this local spot I hadn't tried before. Nestled in downtown North St Paul, Mac's Diner gives the traditional diner feel with new age options. We split an app and burger. The Spinach Artichoke Dip was garlicky and creamy although particularly oily. We used a couple of napkins to remove the excess oil. It's also served with grilled bread which appeared to basically be Wonder bread with a light toast and some garlic butter. The star of the show was the Mac Daddy burger. The smashed patties were flavorful and a bit crispy, and the combination of cheese, onions, pickles, and sauce were an absolute delight. The fries were meaty while also being crunchy and salty. As someone who grew up in the area, I loved seeing the personal touches. The pictures on the West wall were all local - the snowman (IYKYK), Miss Minnesota, 1960s hockey team, etc. They even have a burger for current Twins pitcher, Louie Varland, who was also brought up there. read more

Stopped in for happy hour and wasn't disappointed. Had all four items on the HH menu. Sliders, cheese curds, chicken wings and chili dog. The Cajun dry rubbed wings tasted great. The bartender Rob was super helpful and gave me tastes of their on tap drinks. My favorite was the old fashioned. I will definitely be returning. Easy on street parking. read more

My friend and I picked up a couple salads on our lunch break. Both salads were both tasteful and very filling! I got the Southwest Salad and my friend got the Mediterranean Bowl and we both added chicken. The place looks like an old diner inside that has been upgraded but has kept its charm. DIVINE! Visiting from California! The food in this place was scrumptious. We ordered the brisket mac and cheese and the mushroom burger. WOW!!! The cheese in the mac was creamy like Ive never had before. The burger meat was cooked to perfection. Kudos to the person running the grill. Last but not least, the appetizer, bacon -wrapped cheese curds ooooh YUUMMM! The server was polite and friendly. We will definitely be coming back. read more

Went on a Friday around 10 am and it was pretty quiet. Location had plenty of on street parking. The restaurant is very large with nice diner decor. Waitress was attentive. The French toast was okay but nothing fancy as the crème brûlée sauce was not very strong so it gets lost so it just taste like regular French toast. The poutine is a 10/10. So much flavor in this dish I would 100% recommend. read more
I recently visited Mac's Diner on a Wednesday night for the $15 all you can eat bone-in chicken wing special! While there I also ordered the Mac Daddy Burger as I have heard rave reviews. Upon arrival it was relatively quiet and we were seated immediately. As the evening progressed it began to get very busy which is always a good sign! Our server was also the bartender and while very friendly, was a bit on the slow side which could have been due to the extra duties with having to wait on the bar seats as well as the bar itself. The wings themselves were fantastic. Nice sized and perfected cooked. The sauces were just so-so and we tried everyone they had to offer. My favorite was the Jamaican Jerk. The burger was also just okay, in my opinion. Perfectly prepared smash patties, pickles and a pretty tasty housemade burger sauce. I would have liked to have a little more seasoning on the patties and the bun was fairly dry. Honestly I would order it again, though and give it another go. The overall ambiance of the space is amazing. Has an awesome throwback feel. read more

Had an amazing latte! I ordered a sugar free vanilla and it was so hot that it stayed hot all the while I drank it. I ordered the chorizo bowl with hash browns and sourdough bread. It was delicious. Yummy breakfast menu that's available until 3 PM. Lunch and dinner menu looked good. I'll tray that my next visit. The walls have pictures of No St Paul history and the old dinette. The diner is really clean with high ceilings and lots of tvs in the bar area. Service was excellent! read more
