This would have been a 4 star review, if only we hadn't found-- not one, not two, but THREE hairs in our food. I, alone, had 2 hairs mixed in with hash browns, and the other in my omelette. My friend found one in HIS hash browns too. These were not head hairs either. They were thick, black and curly. Yes, it's as disgusting as it sounds. Be sure to check your food before you eat it! I went here yesterday (Oct 5th) with a friend of mine for a quick, simple and tasty breakfast while we waited for his flight. I ordered an Omelette and he ordered the classic breakfast. Honestly, up until the hair, the food wasn't bad. Gravy was great, hash browns were soggy and awful, omelette was solid and the bacon was fantastic. Good coffee too. But c'mon. 3 hairs, at one table? We would have said something but we didn't want new food, and even if we still had an appetite after discovering these hairs, we had a plane to catch. Well, he did, anyway. I've been here twice, once for lunch and once for breakfast. The service was excellent but the food was sub par. The vanilla shake lacked vanilla flavoring. The burger had BBQ sauce that was so sweet that it overwhelmed any other flavors that may have been in the bacon, cheese or burger. The texmex breakfast was a little better but it could have used more salsa and a little bit of a kick. Nothing here to make me want to come back. read more

Went here for dinner. My BLT was so-so... Light on the bacon, very underdone on the toast. The fries were "deceptive" according to my fiancé - they looked crispy but were soggy and flavorless. I had 2. The cheddar-filled juicy Lucy burger was a hit with him, however. The cole slaw also was bland. Prices are a bit high for a "diner" - though if the food was better I wouldn't complain. Service was good and friendly, despite the place being understaffed when we went in (only one waitress for the entire place). I may go back for breakfast (given the more positive reviews for that meal), but won't be back for dinner. read more

Took my girls to Ze's for breakfast this morning after an early morning soccer game based on other yelp reviews, and i had to add one of my own. DECOR - First impression was of a cute little 50's style diner. Classic cars and classic movie imagery all over the walls, checkerboard floors, counter in the back with an open kitchen. Looked the part of a fun breakfast spot. Clean, bright, retro padded chairs...it just made you smile to walk into this place. Opened the menu and got an immediate red flag though. The menu was kind of all over the place. Is it burgers, is it pasta, is it mediterranean, is it asian, is it mexican, is it southern soul food?? Normally when restaurants do this, they are trying to cater to a broad spectrum of tastes. What i have found generally is that the places that have an overly diverse menu do a mediocre job at everything rather than doing anything particularly well. Well, thats where the red flags ended. Although the menu is a little random, it was a really tough choice to nail down a breakfast. Lots of standard favorites, but lots of really different options for those such as myself who like to try things that are a bit more off the beaten path. FOOD - I got the king tut sandwich, which i was informed by my server was an egyptian street food. Hard boiled eggs sliced and sauteed with feta cheese served on a pita. Simple, perfectly cooked, and the flavor combination really worked well. The girls got a gyro omlette, which was wonderful. Gyro meat was minnesota spicy and delicious and omelette was perfectly cooked. And also the huevos rancheros, which was also perfectly cooked, mn spicy, and delicious. The homemade jellies are to die for as well. SERVICE - The service there is outstanding. Our server was a very nice young man who was friendly, knowledgeable, and constantly smiling. He had a lot of recommendations on the menu, and was just a pro all the way around. And looking around the restaurant, it appeared that all the servers were the exact same way. Happy, smiling, friendly, and courteous. Ticket times were really fast, the food came out hot, and the server kept the glasses full and the plates cleared off well. FINAL WORD - The only issue i had with this place was my own pre-conceived notions of the randomness of the menu. But that isn't the fault of the good folks at Ze's. The upside to having a very random menu is the possibility of doing it all right. And in this case, we did one of their specialty breakfasts, a mediterranean dish, and a mexican dish, and all were fantastic. The wait staff was wonderful, and the whole experience makes me want to go back and see what else they do well there. Very nice work Ze's diner, we will definitely be back again and again. Ze's has only been open for almost 2 weeks now. We visited on a Saturday morning for Breakfast. The gyro omelet was excellent. Our food that morning was so tasty that we returned during the week for dinner. I had the Big Mouth burger and my wife had the Gyro sandwich. They were both very good. This is a great breakfast place. I have only been here and ate off the breakfast menu so I can't comment about any of the other dishes. The breakfast menu is very generic aside from the gyro omelet which I normally get. I love gyro meat and the cucumber sauce they include with it. I also highly recommend the hibiscus tea. Great little neighborhood diner in Eagan. Prices are VERY reasonable, and if you go home hungry it is your own fault. Nothing fancy, just good simple cooking. I had the country fried steak with real mashed potatoes and vegetable. It's not going to win any awards in Texas, but it was tasty, the sausage gravy was homemade, and for just over $10 you can't go wrong. I'm not sure what the couple next to me had, but they looked liked the biggest, tallest burgers I've ever seen with a huge stack of homemade onion rings. I've been here for breakfast. First time trying this place out. The place was packed. Staying in Farmington temporarily. I had the waffle with eggs, bacon, and hash browns. To say this waffle was the best I have had is an understatement. It was waffle perfection. Not to mention the syrup, I am not sure if it is a homemade syrup or what but it is amazing. The homemade jams were awesome as well. I am extremely sad that I will not be close to this gem of a diner in a couple weeks. But that said I would definitely make the hour drive to come back. The staff were rock stars. So attentive and fast. Super friendly and all had big smiles. Might have to go back for a lunch or dinner option before I move. I will be back for breakfast though. Just had a wonderful late breakfast with my wife. We aren't from the Minneapolis area and love trying local places to eat and found this beautifully decorated old fashioned diner with a little Central American twist to the food. The service is quick, on point, and friendly. They are even vegetarian friendly with a couple dishes with no meat and even more than willing to remove meat from any dish. We wanted to give Ze' Diner another shot and we were very pleased with everything. Just like the last time - the coffee was flowing! That is always a plus. Keep that coffee coming Ze's team! Ze's appears to have hit their stride with everything. Our Food was fresh & tasty and we left stuffed. The kids devoured their Mickey Mouse pancakes - a nice creative touch. My wife ordered one of the Egg White Omelet and loved it. She was glad their was a "healthier" option, served w/ a side of fruit. I went all out and ordered the the Gyro Omelet. Man, I think I have new breakfast favorite. I like the side of cucumber sauce that came with. I couldn't help but to dip in the sauce every other bite. It was absolutely the best food, the best service, and the best time. Everybody was friendly, the food came out quickly but cooked correctly. Teresita waited on us both times, and she is awesome! That was very important. We ate breakfast each time, but the hashbrowns were cooked to perfection. The eggs were fluffy, and all the other ingredients appeared to be very fresh and cooked just right.
