We decided to try Ze's Diner for dinner, and overall it was just okay. Nothing we had was bad, but nothing really stood out or made us excited to come back specifically for dinner. The service was friendly, and the classic diner atmosphere is welcoming and comfortable. Looking at the menu, it really seems like breakfast is where this place shines, so we'll definitely be back to give that a try before making up our minds completely. I'm hoping breakfast leaves a stronger impression because this feels like the kind of place that's known for its morning meals. BUT the Chicken Wild Rice was really good and they probably make it because mine had a bay leaf in it. For now, I'd say it was an average dinner experience, but I'm looking forward to giving breakfast a chance. Ze's is a 50's style vintage diner located on in a strip mall in prior lake, MN. The atmosphere is friendly, and the decorations include pictures from period films. breakfast is available all day. The diner tends to be a fairly popular place and it can take a few minutes to get a table. the servers were very prompt to take our drink and food orders. The food was what we have come to expect. I don't normally give a 5 star rating, Ze's consistently a good experience and I we come back almost every weekend. read more

Needed a spot to meet for brunch with our cousins in Prior Lake, and Ze's worked great! It was packed on a Sunday mid-morning, but didn't wait much longer than 15 minutes. Service was a bit harried and short, but efficient - and that's what matters. The space itself has a classic diner feel with booths, old time photos, and checkered flooring. I got the Oh My Gosh breakfast - a great scramble-esque plate with eggs, hash browns and toppings. Others in our group liked the benedict and pancakes. My husband grew up in Prior Lake and has lived in California for the past 55 years. Whenever he comes home, we have struggled to find a restaurant. Ze's Diner was a pleasant surprise! I am a connoisseur of biscuits and gravy and Ze's is one of the best! The biscuits were flaky and not overcooked. The sausage gravy was meaty and flavorful. We shared the triple berry French toast and it was delicious! My husband had the country fried steak and he said it was one of the best he's had and the gravy was excellent. Of course, great food in a diner is wonderful and when you add the excellent customer service; it's a winning combination. Our server started when she was 14. She is now 28 and has finished college. Friendly, quick service. I love this place. But tonight was different. I ordered the club Sandwich and was disappointed. The bread that was toasted apparently with almost stale bread. It was very tough to bite off wile eating the sandwich. The club also was small. For $15 I surely expected better quality of food. I have eaten here several times in three years and this was my first bad experience. It is also the first time I ordered something else besides breakfast. I will stick to the breakfast menu which never fails me. read more

The service here was excellent. All the tables were full, except 2. People kept coming in but never had a long wait. The staff kept up on all the tables making wait times very low. The staff were very friendly. The food was great, big portions. For my picky eaters, especially when it comes to cheese curds, they loved Zes'. We went to Bloomington location that just opened. While service was great the food not equally good,Ny daughter had delicious omelette while I had the meatloaf dinner My iced tea tasted moldy so exchanged it Meatloaf good flavor but the entire plate not hot, Vegetables were carrots, broccoli, carrots blend not hot or seasoned and sparse not even any butter on them and meatloaf had been warmed on a grill crusty around edges. I wasn't in the mood to complain and hungary.Mestloaf had good flavor. The restaurant entry strange with kitchen window facing front lobby and an entire service area there but no counter. A refrigerated case facing front entry with long cord for power hanging out of ceiling and just wrong. Not sure if they are missing counter or what but not welcoming. They have great servers and we were waited on right away. So our take is breakfast is best there but the rest of the menu- for dinners not so good. read more

Today, I had lunch here with a couple friends. I've heard mixed reviews on the place, and diners aren't really my thing, so I wasn't expecting much. I did plan on only ordering diner food, because that's what diners do well. :) I was quite surprised with my meal. I got the Fiesta Omelet w/hashbrowns and toast. The omelet was spicy! It had lots of jalapeños in it. It was really good! The hashbrowns were good after adding a little salt. My friend got the Cajun Omelet, which was tasty, but not spicy at all. The service was good. With the mandatory 18% tip: $79.48 We could have eaten at Texas Roadhouse for that. We are talking eggs and pancakes here, not t-bones. Stellar breakfast location!!! We loved the cute 50's diner vibe and it felt like the staff there loved it just as much. The servers always had a smile and chatted when they could, and it was amazing how quickly your coffee cup would be refilled or empty plates would be whisked off your table. I went with the Mixed Mess. The scrambled eggs were nice and fluffy and there was a great balance between the veg and meat. The eggs were nestled atop a golden bed of hashbrowns, and then topped off with a hollandaise sauce from the heavens. My husband had the King Kong Omelet and he loved it! Food was outstanding. You must try one of their milkshakes. Had the pancakes and the Mixed Mess. Sourdough Toast also fantastic. Service was great and I liked that it seemed extremely family owned and independent. We have recieved coupons for years in the mail so we decided to give Ze's a try. We ordered the Clubhouse sandwich & the Sweet Moody ( Eggs, Bacon & French toast ) Both were very good, especially the French toast, I'm not sure what they did differently to them but they were excellent. The service was first rate too! Another nice thing was a neat 50s theme going on ( Murals of classic cars and old time movie stars ) We absolutely will be back for breakfast/ lunch again soon. read more

When I toiled in the area I visited Ze's Eagan location several times for breakfast. On the occasion that I would stop in I found the eggs well prepared, the hashed browns tasty, the sausage par for the course and the coffee hot and strong. Cajun breakfast was a reliable, savory and generous (if not particularly spicy) highlight for yours truly. The pancakes are quite large, flavorful and filling. Although not personally sampled the omelets looked great. Homemade (I think) jams and very good (genuine ?) maple syrup. I probably should have paid closer attention or perhaps have a better memory. It has a mid-1900s feel, a classic "malt-shop" interior. Plenty of free, adjacent parking (at busy times a short walk may be required). Maybe not worth a special trip on my part, I'd say that it is a solid choice if nearby. read more

Specifically the manager - no notice of 90 minute limit prior to seating and he literally "told" us to leave after 60-70 minutes claiming we had been there 90 minutes. We knew exactly what time we got there because we were meeting there. Proceeded to argue with us about it and with a raised his voice. Hadn't even finished my coffee. We brought the family here for breakfast over the weekend. The food was straight down the middle diner food. We had eggs & hash browns, french toast, pancakes, etc. While nothing was a standout, the portions were substantial and the prices were fair. The restaurant is spacious, so if you need 2 high chairs at your table, it is fine. The service was pretty quick, too.
