The diner tends to be a fairly popular place and it can take a few minutes to get a table. the servers were very prompt to take our drink and food orders. The food was what we have come to expect. Friendly, quick service. I love this place. But tonight was different. I ordered the club Sandwich and was disappointed. The bread that was toasted apparently with almost stale bread. It was very tough to bite off wile eating the sandwich. The club also was small. For $15 I surely expected better quality of food. I have eaten here several times in three years and this was my first bad experience. It is also the first time I ordered something else besides breakfast. My husband grew up in Prior Lake and has lived in California for the past 55 years. Whenever he comes home, we have struggled to find a restaurant. Ze's Diner was a pleasant surprise! I am a connoisseur of biscuits and gravy and Ze's is one of the best! The biscuits were flaky and not overcooked. The sausage gravy was meaty and flavorful. We shared the triple berry French toast and it was delicious! My husband had the country fried steak and he said it was one of the best he's had and the gravy was excellent. While service was great the food not equally good,Ny daughter had delicious omelette while I had the meatloaf dinner My iced tea tasted moldy so exchanged it Meatloaf good flavor but the entire plate not hot, Vegetables were carrots, broccoli, carrots blend not hot or seasoned and sparse not even any butter on them and meatloaf had been warmed on a grill crusty around edges. I wasn't in the mood to complain and hungary.Mestloaf had good flavor. The restaurant entry strange with kitchen window facing front lobby and an entire service area there but no counter. A refrigerated case facing front entry with long cord for power hanging out of ceiling and just wrong. Not sure if they are missing counter or what but not welcoming. I did plan on only ordering diner food, because that's what diners do well. :) I was quite surprised with my meal. I got the Fiesta Omelet w/hashbrowns and toast. The omelet was spicy! It had lots of jalapeños in it. It was really good! The hashbrowns were good after adding a little salt. My friend got the Cajun Omelet, which was tasty, but not spicy at all. The service was good. The servers always had a smile and chatted when they could, and it was amazing how quickly your coffee cup would be refilled or empty plates would be whisked off your table. I went with the Mixed Mess. The scrambled eggs were nice and fluffy and there was a great balance between the veg and meat. The eggs were nestled atop a golden bed of hashbrowns, and then topped off with a hollandaise sauce from the heavens. My husband had the King Kong Omelet and he loved it! We have recieved coupons for years in the mail so we decided to give Ze's a try. We ordered the Clubhouse sandwich & the Sweet Moody ( Eggs, Bacon & French toast ) Both were very good, especially the French toast, I'm not sure what they did differently to them but they were excellent. When I toiled in the area I visited Ze's Eagan location several times for breakfast. On the occasion that I would stop in I found the eggs well prepared, the hashed browns tasty, the sausage par for the course and the coffee hot and strong. Cajun breakfast was a reliable, savory and generous (if not particularly spicy) highlight for yours truly. The pancakes are quite large, flavorful and filling. Although not personally sampled the omelets looked great. Homemade (I think) jams and very good (genuine ?) maple syrup. I probably should have paid closer attention or perhaps have a better memory. It has a mid-1900s feel, a classic "malt-shop" interior. Plenty of free, adjacent parking (at busy times a short walk may be required). Maybe not worth a special trip on my part, I'd say that it is a solid choice if nearby. read more

What a cute place to go to eat! The inside makes you feel like you're in a diner from the 60s and the wall murals are really cool! They have good malts and breakfast food, I have yet to try their lunch menu though.
