After our annual summer trip to Minnesota's Largest Candy Store (see my review) we decided to skip the trip to the local McDonald's (to the nephews dismay) and venture further into Jordan and try something new. Making memories we were. My sister found this quaint spot on Yelp and we were delighted with our choice. The boys got over the fact that was not a play place loaded with germs and all was well with the world. If you are under the age of sixty you will most likely be the youngest in the place. If you care about that kind of stuff. If you only drink Pepsi products you are also in luck. Mountain Dew on tap? Let's do this! The Feed Mill is quite small. Upon entering you will wait to be seated in a very small area that has 4 chairs. It seems to be very simple and who helps you is just whoever happens to be free. Be patient. We had no idea what we were doing but it worked out swell. The service was top notch. The staff was extremely attentive and had took the time to answer questions we had and dealt with the 8 and 10 year old boys with ease. Remember, most the of the customers were pushing 70+. Ours was the odd man out table. We ordered: kids meal with 1 (huge) pancake, eggs and 1 strip of bacon. (prefect for the picky 8 year old), a club sandwich, a grilled cheese sandwich with bacon and fries and the cajun breakfast. The 4 of us were satisfied with our choices. Everyone finished their meals with ease but me. I asked for a to go box as that cajun breakfast was a feast to feed 2 mouths! No complaints, I was happy to finish it the following day. I enjoyed it and would happily order it again. Without mushrooms which I did this time and they actually listened. My sister and I were happy to not be eating Big Macs. The boys were happy to sip Mountain Dew and root beer. The service was excellent and it was a great experience. If you ever find yourself in downtown Jordan I highly recommend Feed Mill. You can even purchase a T- shirt if you wish! read more

I came here this morning for a breakfast date with my toddler. We met up with a friend and her toddler. There was enough space for both car seats, our table and two high chairs. Our server was very kind and brought out our food quickly. I think my hash browns were a bit too soaked in oil for my taste but everything else was just fine. read more

We always get the Cajun breakfast which is very good, but today I felt like an omelette. I got the all vegetable with smoked sausage. It is one of the best omelettes I have had. Oddly enough, I found myself in Jordan, with breakfast on my mind. Yelp helped me find this little gem. Great view of the creek. You can sit right by the edge of the creek at the window and watch the water rush by. Wonderful attentive, but not overly familiar service. Good homey food. This tastes like the food I make at home, if I weren't too lazy to make hollandaise sauce. Which I am. I had the Cajun breakfast, which is not spicy, but delicious and huge. I was starving and still left a third behind. Our table also ordered the biscuits and gravy. All delicious and even the decaf coffee was fresh and tasty, which is often not the case. Excellent breakfast here! When I'm in town, I meet up with a friend and eat here for breakfast. The cinnamon rolls are my favorite. I also love the giant window that looks over the creek, it's beautiful no matter what season. read more

I wouldn't go back. It's very forgettable food that is a few steps below denny's and a step above a 10 year old's attempt at breakfast. It's definitely edible when you're in a pinch I just think this place needs better quality food and something that makes them special other than the view. Just had brunch there with a friend and it was SO good! HUGE fluffy pancakes, thick-cut bacon, perfectly-cooked eggs. The incredibly sweet server made sure my coffee cup was always full. The dining area has these enormous windows overlooking a pretty, green area, making the experience even nicer. I would absolutely recommend stopping here for a bite if you're in town. read more

Just heard from my daughter and son-in-law who stopped in to eat for the first time. They asked their server to wear a mask due to COVID concern. Son-in-law undergoing chemo and explained he had a compromised immune system. Server snapped " I do too but the mask is hot and sweaty." Reprehensible! We made a reservation for ten people when we were an hour out yesterday - a Sunday - morning. Response was astonishing: they could seat us, offered excellent service, meals and sides all done perfectly at the same time and served piping hot. The food was excellent - fresh and clearly prepared with care. Never had to ask for anything - they were really proactive about things we might need without overwhelming us. Very, very well done overall - I've recommend to friends about 5 times since we got back yesterday. A wonderful experience in every way. read more

First off, who isn't looking for a nice place to have breakfast. I have been to this diner a few times and the food has always been good. the view out the windows is very nice. It is a little pricey though. Why I give this diner only two stars is that they have a waitress that will make your experience a nightmare. Know what you want and don't change your mind even if she is still at the table, she will bite your head off! If three people order the same thing she will tell you not to expect it all to arrive at the same time, too much to ask the of the cook. Refills have to be requested at least twice. We went in for father's day and this particular waitress just about had a cow because we didn't have a reservation. The place was empty save for one family eating there. Insisted that my daughter decide before everyone was there whether her family was going to have the buffet or eat off the menu, even wanted to know what the rest of the party was going to order. When we said we would like to order off the menu I thought I was going asked to leave. They do have a younger waitress that is very nice. Hope you get her if you eat here. read more

In general, I love small town independant restaurants - partly due to my love for a good "hot beef commercial". For the uninitiated, this is roast beef between two slices of bread, with a side of mashed potato. Then the whole thing is smothered with gravy. Simply offering this dish gives any restaurant my Real Deal seal of approval. I could have even given the restaurant a four start rating for the following reasons: 1) They also offer hot turkey AND hot hamberger versions of the hot beef commercial 2) Great view overlooking the river and local town team baseball field 3) My son's burger and fries were perfectly cooked and tasty Alas, this lovely small town restaurant only scored a three star rating because our server was clearly bothered by our presence. It wasn't just me and my son...she was equally terse with all customers. I don't think she has a good handle on the fact that her tip is in direct correlation to the service I recieve. I read Kristi C's review and wished I would have had the server she did (the server called everyone "hon"). There's no way we had the same server. Go for the solid small town food offerings and view, and maybe you'll get the friendly servers "Hon." read more

I live three blocks from this restaurant. I have eaten here twice, separated by six years time. I would *love* to dine in town, if I could. This place has mediocre food; of the same caliber as Denny's but maybe a shade worse. The service was once overtly hostile and slow, the other time it was clueless and VERY slow. The restaurant is nominally air conditioned, but was hot and sticky both times. The view of the creek, out the glass wall is nice, but you could just stand on the bridge. Good luck! read more

Yes, the french toast was pretty good, they added cinnamon to the egg mix. I took a pass on the fruit topping that would have came from a can. But what I really loved about the experience was our server who called everyone at the table "hon". When was the last time anyone but your mom or your sweetie called you that? Our food came out fast, no complaints with the service or the prices. For a little home town cafe, this is about what you'd expect. Not only was the breakfast good, but the service was excellent. To make things even better, though, I use a stainless steel straw, which I forgot. After I left, the young woman who had been my server literally ran after me to give me the straw back (then she ran back to the restaurant).
