The food was really good and the portions were huge especially given the price. This would have easily been a 5 however the food took forever to arrive. We ordered our food at 7:30 and it didn't arrive until 8:20. The sausage and sausage patties both had great flavor, the gravy was good and the american fries were nice and crispy. I've heard good things about this place for years but have never been in the area at the right time to stop by. Well, my husband and I stayed over night at Mystic Lake Casino on a Saturday night. Checked out on Sunday morning and thought... let's do brunch. Ah-huh...I have the perfect spot for us to try. Don't forget to write your name and number of persons in your party when you enter the door. One step up. But we did see a couple of customers work it just fine with their walkers- they appeared to be experienced in navigating the entry. The Reuben here is a home run with grilled rye bread, juicy and plentiful corned beef, and a good amount of sauerkraut although I prefer just a bit more. I ordered it with tots and really enjoyed those. I mean, tots are hard to screw up but it has been done. These were hot and crispy and perfectly cooked. Believe it or not, I have gotten tots at another restaurant and they were still frozen in the middle. I also tried the bourbon wings and requested flats and that's what I got! This place is a classic old-time diner. Decor (interior and exterior) is from the 40s or perhaps early 50s. The Chef's Breakfast was a TON of food. And overall, very good. The pancakes were delicious; sausage patty and hash browns were well prepared. The over-medium egg was a little under-cooked for my taste, but the line between easy and medium on an egg is hard to judge. The servers were very friendly--to the regulars. They spent a lot of time talking to people with whom they were familiar. For a newbie like myself, it just seemed like "business"--take order, deliver order, fill coffee, deliver check, move on. Similarly, when I was being seated it was, "table or counter", and when I chose the table I got the feeling I had chosen wrong (in their eyes). read more

Great little diner with a classic menu that meets all expectations for the true American breakfast. Service was good and the food came pretty quickly. There was a nice atmosphere with probably a standard clientele for a weekend morning. The eggs Benedict spoke to me today and I enjoyed the tangy hollandaise with the rich eggs. I like just a little ham on mine, this had a significant stack of thin sliced meat though. Very tasty. I also really liked the crispy hash browns. Perfectly cooked. I was full and happy by the end. A simple little diner. Nothing fancy. Feels like a little small town but has a warm atmosphere. Easy parking right off the 101 bridge. It has great spaces for large and small groups even though the place itself is on the smaller side. There is more of a bar side and a booth side. We were seated right away on a weekday. I ordered the Pancake Scrambled Eggs and Ham. It was delicious. Now it was served all on top of itself but the waitress did offer a second plate. That was very useful and necessary. The thing that made it good not just ok was the service. They were super friendly and very helpful when navigating the menu. They were there anytime we needed a coffee refill sometimes before. You do need to pay up at the register before you go and there isn't a ton of room to do so because it is right at the door. Be aware of those coming and going. read more

Wampach's is one of our favorite restaurants to eat at. They always have the best tasting food and the dine in service is impeccable every single time. We usually get the Country Fried Steak, and they're the only place we've come across that allows you to upgrade to two patties instead of one for just a few bucks extra. It's worth it. Wampach is one of the true treasures of Shakopee. I'm a huge fan of the breakfasts! The portions are always plentiful and so very delicious. My go to breakfast items is Eggs Benedict and the Cajun hashbrowns. I recently had lunch at this fine establishment, and I found the Smashburger's are mouthwatering delicious!!!!! The Double Smashed Burger was drooling good! I will definitely try another lunch items in the very near future. Before the Smash burger got my attention, I was seriously thinking about ordering the Dagwamp. This looked deliciously enticing. Wait, I forget to talk about two other important things. Service and Ambiance. First of all, Wampachs has been around for 50 plus years. I know why. The food and service were top notch. Think of a diner from the 50s. This is your place. After placing our order it did seem like it took a while to get it. My oatmeal was upper hot but well cooked. Not lumpy or undercooked at all. My wife had the two eggs and toast. Great little diner with a very cozy small town feel! I've been here multiple times but this mornings food was note worthy. I ordered the country fried steak. The gravy on top was a sausage gravy and my sides of hash browns, toast and eggs were perfect. A great portion at a good price. $12.99! I also got a chocolate chip pancake on the side, was perfectly cooked with a nice crisp to the outside! Service was quick and everyone was polite! We waited about 20 minutes which is not bad at all. We had a nice walk up and down main street. I'm not sure why people are complaining, it's an old diner and the wait should tell you something! It's a great spot!! We decided to head over to this diner in search of a good pork tenderloin, and we were really impressed with the wait staff, our cook, and the whole dinner! Really nice people, and the food was excellent - we could tell the locals were eating there, too! What a find! Best food we have had in a restaurant in awhile! This is my second time visiting Wampach's. Its near work and a decent option, all things considered. But I certainly can't say its the best breakfast I've had, or "as good it gets". It took at least 20 minutes to get a simple order of biscuits and gravy and hashbrowns. Perhaps I should have been more specific, but I requested onions with my hashbrowns. They were thrown on top instead of being mixed in, which creates a bit of a taste difference. The gravy on the biscuits was very good. Creamy, a hint of spice, and quite a bit of sausage. Portions are generous (see picture). Breakfast is their bread and butter--there's not too much in the way of lunch and dinner options. The "morning specials" aren't anything spectacular. It added $1 to my biscuits and gravy and came with a small glass of juice (I believe coffee and tea are also options). A small glass of juice was $1.10 ala carte, so I saved a grand total of 10¢. Of concern was their credit card machine was broke. They were manually writing down everyone's cc# (but not mentioning it until after the fact). You need to get here early, bring a lawn chair while you wait and a fully charged phone or a book to read. If your group is more than four I suggest you divide yourself into two and sit in separate booths. We put our name on the waitlist at 10:40 and didn't get seated until almost noon. The food was good but it's not worth the wait. I don't think Guy from #DDD would find anything on the menu to highlight. read more

Fresh fast and always a hit!! This place is always packed but the service is always the same time and time again. For as small as it is in there, your wait for your meal is always worth it. It's very quaint and old school diner, just on a much smaller scale. You get giant delicious pancakes, their biscuits and gravy are amazing and they really have an extensive menu. There is something for everyone, including the kids. Probably the best go to spot for breakfast south of 101! Even when ordering to go the quality and taste of the food never misses! They did miss the French fries with my nephews meal, they were superrrr packed that day, and we didn't realize it until we left. Bummer.. but no biggie. Delicious breakfast at a small, but cute diner! The pancakes were so good. Big menu with lots of options, and the breakfast is served all day. The potatoes were perfect, I loved everything. My husband said it was one of the best everything omelettes that he has had in a long time. It all tasted fresh and homemade. These kind of places remind me of back home in Wisconsin. Is this place perfect? Absolutely not. Is it charming and old school? Absolutely! Wampach's is what you'd imagine if you were in a small down looking for a dinner experience. While the food is nothing spectacular, the prices and the atmosphere can't be beat if you're looking for a hometown experience. Honestly, even if we go here in the afternoon I always order breakfast food. You can order most (if not all) of the breakfast menu all day. Note: This place always seems to be busy. If you're planning to go on a weekend, you will most definitely have to wait for a table. There really isn't a hostess, so check the hostess stand to see if there's a running list of names you put yourself on to get in line to be seated. read more

DISORGANIZED. I can't figure out what everybody is raving about? The food itself was very stereotypical greasy spoon fare. Not bad and not great. Our experience with getting seated and served this morning, on the other hand, was horrific. We waited 23 minutes (after being told 15 or less) to get a table. That's fine, it was breakfast time and it was packed. After being seated it was 32 MINUTES before anybody bothered to take our orders. Mind you, we had our menus all down and were talking for nearly that entire time, it was clear we had make our selections. What's worse is the waiter took another table's order before ours, who had been seated a solid ten minutes after us, THEN proceeded to head toward the 6 top behind us and try to take their order before ours also. Those folks had JUST sat down. I checked my watch again when the food arrived and it was officially 48 minutes from the time we were seated to the time food arrived. This is in a tiny diner with like 10 total tables. I was given the wrong potato. We had to ask twice for ranch. My coffee cup sat empty for most of the visit. All of the staff that I encountered were very friendly though! We ordered breakfast food and it was all good. Not great. Good. I did overhear several other patrons raving about certain menu items (more lunch or supper type items) so maybe if we try them again, we will go later in the day. read more
