    House seasoning
    Trecie M.

So good. It's located in the City Center building downstairs. The customer service is on point and the food is amazing. The portions are sharable sizes, the seasoning is good, and we got a cookie on the house. My daughter purchased their house seasoning to take back to California. Definitely a gem.

Ok so my husbands like your taking me to the cop shop! This little gem is located inside the city hall building lower level in the garden room. It's a family owned business. The young lady at the front was super sweet and you heard her lovingly call back to "Daddy" in the kitchen. Southern charm and wonderful food. Great find! That's to fellow reviewers for pointing this place out.

Amazing food. Get the gumbo. You won't regret it! Delicious cornbread and the chocolate chunk cookies - they are worth it. Great service and super kind and helpful owners. An asset to Eden Prairie businesses!

    a box of french fries

Currently visiting Minneapolis and looking for lunch. We found this little spot located inside Eden City Center. My first thought was, "Yelp didn't tell me it near a police station," but already being here we decided to give it a try. At first, I wanted to try the fried ravioli but my mom reminded me that with the additional food I wanted, I wouldn't eat it all so instead I chose to just go with the tenders baskets w/ fries, and I'm glad I chose to stick with the tenders. With several different flavors to choose from, I went with the SWEET & SPICY ASAIN, they also flavor your fries!! And with that I wanted to try something different, so I chose DILL PICKLE. OMG y'all! When I say mouth watering I mean MOUTH WATERING! Everything was so delicious, and the owners (BLACK-OWNED BUSINESS) are just the nicest I've ever met. Their ranch is probably the best ranch I've ever had. When I asked Daddy Davis about it he said, they make it with their house seasoning. The also sell their house seasoning for $7.25 and I bought a bottle to take back home.

I had an awesome breakfast burrito and their awesome Tirimasu Latte (iced), and they have other offerings that will lure me from St Paul for future visits. Specifically, now that I am mourning the loss of Sun Street Breads and its Thursday Night Pizza Night, I'll have to try Smith's version of that. But I'll probably come back for brunch on a weekend pretty soon and get more coffee, as well as something from their bakery. But also, yes, brunch; the eggs in my burrito were really perfect. I was there at around noon on a Sunday; peak busy times so parking was a little hairy but I eventually found a spot. I absolutely recommend coming with a bunch of pals and hanging out for a good long time, but maybe don't all drive separately if it's noon-ish on a weekend. They have a lovely patio area which was well-populated, even on this extra-sunny mid-February day. If you like adorable cafes, you will definitely love this place.

I immediately started looking at coffee shops that I could relocate to in order to work. I had been wanting to go try Smiths for a while but the opportunity just never presented itself despite being just down the road. I arrived and the driveway leading to the parking lot was lined with cars, but I was able to find a spot in the parking lot after a minute or so. It was definitely a full lot for sure. The location is absolutely adorable as this is a historic house. It was once a Dunn Brothers, but I do love that it is its own thing now rather than a chain. They had a outdoor patio that people were enjoying but it was a bit chilly for working and sitting outside, one person even had a dog which I LOVE! Inside the front door you are greeted with a welcoming counter that you can order. I opted to try the salted caramel iced latte. If you are consuming there (which I was) they give you a number to bring to your table and they bring the drink. I really liked this idea especially in the aspect of not having to stand and wait for a drink. The price was a bit high (7.55 for a 16 oz with $1 tip), but then again everything is getting expensive these days. I walked back to the seating area and there are essentially 3 rooms downstairs, I walked through all 3 to see where working would be ideal. I went upstairs but there was a woman in the room so I assumed it was a group that was meeting or something so I opted to not investigate further. I found seating downstairs in what felt like the quietest part, but there were a lot of people there talking and the acoustics were not exactly fantastic. I did have a call which I took via teams and air pods and discovered the sound in the room was actually really not awesome for a meeting as it was quite loud and the wifi was not strong enough to support the video on the teams call. So would I recommend working from Smith, not if you have a meeting, but if you are looking for a place that has some background noise, I guess... However this is certainly a place that is perfect for meeting someone and enjoying breakfast or coffee and I love that. I did not order food this time, but everything I saw get delivered looked delicious. I also noticed they have a pizza night on Thursday nights and immediately made a note of that for a date night with the hubby.

We got 2 appetizers and each got an entree. The cauliflower wings were good but the larger ones still had raw batter on the inside. The deviled egg scotch eggs had good flavor, but the deviled egg yolk texture was a little weird to wrap our brains around. My friend didn't much care for her sandwich but I thought the pepperoni flatbread was quite good. The chef pushed back a bit on my wanting to add fresh mozarella for obvious reasons, but the reason he was pushing back was the reason I actually wanted it on there lol. The server was knowledgeable and helpful. Made a mistake but fixed it pretty quick, no big deal. But my biggest complaint was the lighting. The lights directly above the table were SO BRIGHT! Made it feel like an airport lounge and actually gave me a bit of a headache. Definitely kept us from being able to relax and enjoy our food and drinks because we felt like there was a constant spotlight on us. We will probably come back at some point, but because you can't really feel like you can relax it will probably be a little bit.

With the three off us, it was a 2-1 split in favor of lunch. My wife had the Southwest Grain Bowl which she proclaimed was excellent. Her sister opted for brunch and enjoyed her Avocado Toast. I ordered the Margarita Flatbread and really enjoyed it. The flatbread had balsamic drizzled on the top which gave a taste I've never experienced with a Margarita pizza. The large, roasted tomatoes also added a nice touch and taste. Good service is almost becoming a standard in most restaurants we go to and it was certainly evident here. All in all, an enjoyable meal.

We also ordered some drinks (You're My Boy Blue & the Rhubarb/Ginger Gin Fizz). Both were a perfect balance of refreshing and fruity. We ordered the Candied Bacon flight to share; the menu listed the bacon flight flavors (whiskey jalapeño BBQ, roasted chile brown sugar, honey mustard, 4-pepper blend) and the 8 large, thick slices looked inviting but we had no idea which pieces were which flavor. *Management Suggestion: Get little toothpicks or flags so diners know what they're tasting!* That said, while I tried two pieces I thought looked good and I enjoyed them, RC munched through them unaware they were different flavors, lol. My take: they were ok. I also ordered the French Onion soup as I love trying different restaurants' take on it. Five stars for the soup, it was absolutely delicious. A thick piece of crusty bread topped with melted cheese that dripped over the crock topped rich, delicious caramelized onions and just enough beef stock to be able to call it soup. Banging. For our mains, RC ordered ribs with a side of Buffalo Brussels Sprouts. The ribs had good flavor but were definitely not fall-off-the-bone; more like saw from the bone. We both love Brussels but the beef-tallow fried sprouts with Buffalo sauce and caked in melted bleu cheese crumbles were not good. If you don't like Brussels, you might like these because any sprout flavor was overwhelmed by the bleu cheese. For my main I tried the braised Short Rib Ravioli, generous ravioli in a very rich cream sauce then topped with (I think) bacon, mushrooms and tomatoes. I ate one raviolo and it wasn't for me. I thought the filling was bland and the sauce didn't meld with the flavor. I didn't eat it, the manager came to apologize and ask if I wanted something else, but RC was close to finished and I declined. Good on them for taking it off my bill without me asking. Service was five star, atmosphere nice, although the huge flat screens everywhere were a distraction lacking sound or captions. The bourbon selection looked great and I momentarily wished I could try some! :D

I selected a full rack of ribs, and the meat fell right off the bone. They had the perfect blend of BBQ, smoke, and tanginess. The sauce was not runny and stuck to the ribs. I didn't even bother with the fries. The coleslaw was mediocre and was lacking in flavor, but the ribs were heavy. I asked the server about this and she confirmed they no longer made arepas but hadn't updated the menu. This could have been forgiven if the rest of the dish had any flavor beyond raw onion and garlic. The hollandaise had no flavor either, and they had no salsas or anything else to add other than tobacco and Chahula. The shrimp was minimal and also bland.
