Was craving sushi and heard good things about this place, so I decided to come by with a family member for dinner while we were both visiting San Francisco. There was a relatively sleek, quiet ambiance, and two people who seated us before explaining how the menu operated and headed off. Unfortunately this was the most that we had when it came to interactions with the servers, because they proceeded to ignore us for the remainder of our dinner until we called them over to ask for water. We decided to get Salmon Nigiri, California Rolls, and the Rainbow Roll. They were all alright - the nigiri was a bit pricy for there only being two pieces, but the rolls were priced relatively okay. Out of all the soju pitchers we liked the strawberry yogurt the best. It was very sweet flavourful with strawberry puree on the bottom. The lime maguro roll was super yummy. The lime zest added a lot of flavour and out of all the sushis we ordered maguro was the freshest fish. The lime maguro roll was yummy Zenpo karaage was super yummy. Low key it's a bit of a catfish because they say it has cacao nibs and parmesan but you really can't tell that those ingredients were there. This place went viral on instagram so I decided to give it a try. They advertised $12 all you can drink so I was stoked. You order through the iPad at your table. Dragon roll $16 (5/5) - your typical dragon roll with unagi and shrimp tempura and avocado Shimizu roll $18 (5/5) - my favorite roll. If you like fish and scallops, this is it. Chef's special $28 (5/5) - 5pcs, salmon roe, uni, toro, salmon belly and scallops. I recommend ordering this with a roll. AYCD $12 (1/5) - it was so hard to order a drink. When i was done with my first drink, I had to ask multiple servers for the second drink. They kept walking by and not give me a drink. I probably waited 20 minutes for the second drink. Keep in mind you can order the drink through the iPad so I did that before I asked any servers. When I wanted a third drink, it was the same thing. I had to wait and ask multiple times. This is disappointing when they advertise "all you can drink" but really it's not because they don't want to give you a drink and purposely try to avoid you or take forever. I would come back for the food but don't expect much for the all you can drink. Service was mediocre. There's a ramp so it's wheelchair friendly. The restaurant is a bit small. read more

Came here for dinner and it wasn't busy at all. We got seated right away. It's around the neighborhood so decided to check it out. We got seaweed salad, California corners (their version of crab Rangoon), and 5 sushi rolls. We got the truffle salmon, dragon, Philly, Moeru, and another (can't remember the name) with tempura shrimp with crab on top. You order on the tablet at the table and food comes out on the belt next to you or by robot to the table. Food came out pretty quick and the server checked on us several times to make sure everything was ok. It was clean inside and nothing extravagant. Seaweed salad tasted ok but also tasted too 'wet' and liquidy. The California corners were good but nothing special. Favorite rolls were the truffle salmon and dragon. The Philly was standard and didn't disappoint. The others were ok but didn't love them. The ones with tempura shrimp were nice bc of the crisp shrimp but was a bit heavy on the breading. It would've been nice it all the ones with crab weren't sooo imitation crab looking and tasting or a bit of real crab would be nice. Some of the seafood tasted fresh and others didn't. Got takeout for myself and a friend, tried 3 rolls. It was plenty of food for the two of us, with an order of edamame. Everything was super fresh and tasty, and packaged neatly for us. The place was empty when I came to pick up the order, soon after opening on a weekday. I did see the robot, and although obviously didn't use it since I got takeout, I think personally I would prefer a human server lol. We order a variety of things to share- I would say a bit pricey for "conveyor belt" style sushi, but rolls were nicely presented. My friend and I came to Zenpo Sushi on a Friday night at 6:15pm and was pleasantly surprised that the place wasn't packed yet. We were quickly greeted by all the servers and they immediately sat us at any table of our choice. Our server was very friendly, he guided us through the ordering process and was quick to answer any questions we had. We got tons of food and drinks to share. Their sake selection was great and I enjoyed the recommendations provided to us by our server. I enjoyed it so much that I forgot to take photos! But I highly recommend the hot sake and Aladdin sake. We shared the following appetizers and House Specialty Rolls: - Seaweed Salad - very refreshing, yummy and crunchy! FYI, one portion is enough for two people. Unless you're a big seaweed salad fan like I am then get yourself a portion all to yourself - Chicken Karage (not picture) - was very delicious, fried to perfection and the sauce it came with complimented it very well. I do wish it was cut into smaller pieces but that's a personal problem lol. - Truffle Salmon Roll - I highly recommend this if you are a salmon fan. The roll itself was very light and refreshing. The flavor combo was amazing! - Ballet Roll - My second favorite roll we tried. I enjoyed the combo of the spicy tuna, cucumber and tempura for the added crunch. - Phoenix Roll - We ate this roll and forgot to take a pic hence why it's missing two pieces already (lol). But this one was an odd one for me. The texture in the outside was crispy but the inside texture was mushy. It's hard to describe but somehow the flavors still work. For me, I just wasn't a fan of the textures so this was at the bottom of my list. Overall it was a really great experience. Great food, nice ambiance and very friendly staff. Also, it was very entertaining watching the food come via the bullet (conveyor belt) and also seeing their robot server going up/down the aisle serving everyone their sushi rolls. Zenpo is the newest bullet train sushi in SF! I tried them on their grand opening day and it did not disappoint! The restaurant is spacious and modern with the train track running through the restaurant. They also have cool little robots serving water and food. We ordered a variety of rolls and sashimi. One of the guests doesn't eat raw and they had a lot of options for veggie rolls and cooked dons. My favorite were hands down the sashimi, it was so thick and fatty and fresh! Im not sure why all the reviews here are a glowing 5 stars cause almost all the food we had was mediocre at best. Upon first glance, I absolutely loved the big open space, large windows, and bright lights. It gave a clean, simple, and modern feel. First off: food. Aside from them not having a great selection, the fish was inconsistent in both quality and sizing. Some sake pieces were fatty, some were lean. Some toro was rich/fatty, and some were stringy. The rice in the nigiri was too large for the thin slice of fish on top. I also didn't get the hype with the truffle salmon roll. The truffle flavor hits you hard first, then 3 seconds later, all you're left with is bland avocado and salmon. Second, I thought this was a bullet train restaurant? We ordered quite a bit (some not pictured), and only one dish came to us on the train. The rest were delivered by a robot, which sometimes would get lost. We saw one of our dishes being delivered to another table, then spun around 3x, then made its way back to our table. Most of the tables inside are pretty small, especially when you have the tablet, drinks, and sauce trays. I had asked the server if we are supposed to put the empty dishes on the robot and he said "you can, but it's our job to take away the dishes". But majority of the time dining, the plates never got taken away. Overall, nice location. Mediocre food. So-so service. I wouldn't go out of my way to come back here. read more

We stopped in here for an early dinner after catching a performance at the Symphony Hall down the street. It is located on The ground floor of the parking garage we had parked in- so it was highly convenient. The place is small, but very cute and clean. The decor is modern and gives off a high- tech vibe. We got seated immediately and put in our order on the iPad at the table. We got several different rolls, sushi and appetizers to try. The drinks were pretty basic with soda, water, and several different sakes and wines. They menu was separated into various sections like appetizers, hand rolls, classic rolls, specialty rolls, etc. It was fun to watch the bullet train roll by us delivering food to different tables and the robot server cruise by with orders on his trays as well. The wait to get our food was not long and here were our impressions: The food arrives quick! The hot items were hot! As in piping! The shrimp sui mai skewers were little balls of fried yumminess we had to let cool down, they were so hot off the fryer. The gyoza was also piping hot and the filling was flavorful with a nice chew while the wrappers were chewy and not soggy, and crispy on the edges. We got several orders of sushi, and the fish was so fresh. We also tried several of their specialty rolls and nothing we tried was bad. I particularly liked their crunchy roll, the combination of the hot tempura and cold veggies was a great combination. Another of our favorites ended up being the Zenpo roll and the Shinsoo roll. A couple of things that stood out for me. The rolls were cut/ arranged into nice easy-to-eat pieces. I appreciated that you didn't have these huge pieces of roll that you were trying to fit into your mouth in one go, or take a bite out of and then everything falls apart. While human interaction is minimal, the waiters are still a constant presence. Our guy stopped by multiple times to check on us, make sure we had everything we needed, and to see how we were doing. They kept cleaning empty plates off our table- so it was never too crowded or cluttered. I love the decor. Going with a high-tech, clean and modern space I appreciated the attention to detail throughout the space, and as weird as it sounds even in the bathrooms! The walls had different textures and features and the bathroom mirrors had touch buttons so you could adjust the lighting to your liking. It's the small things- but I was delighted at them. We spoke with our waiter and he mentioned the restaurant had been opened for about 3 months. It is a family business, the owners being brother and sister. We spoke with the owner on the way out and he couldn't have been nicer! If your down in the theater district, or City Hall I highly recommend a stop by. We've walked past this place a couple of times on the way home and finally got to try it out. The exterior is quite ominous with tinted windows, but the interior was beautiful! We were drawn in by the sushi train and robot service so we were excited to try it out. We arrived around 6pm on a Wednesday and we were seated very quickly. It was primarily self service as we ordered through an Ipad. The rolls were brought out on the train which was not as exciting as we thought. It was less of a train, but more of a movable white plate. The food itself was quite delicious. They had a variety of interesting rolls and pricing was not overly expensive. Some dishes were brought to us by a robot and some by the waitress so the service portion was a bit all over the place.
