Found this new place on our daily walk. And OMG was this place fantastic!!! We got 3 rolls for $18. We got shrimp tempura, spicy tuna, and salmon avocado. All were delicious. My favorite was the shrimp tempura. It has a yummy creamy sauce. I look forward to coming back.

SF drivers are built different... Many can simultaneously navigate steep hills, tight parallel parking, pedestrians, e-bikes, scooters, cyclists, Waymos, buses, narrow streets, and traffic...and some even manage to eat on the go. Not that I advocate for distracted driving but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. Handroll Hawker is making eating on the go a whole lot easier esp for slobs like myself who regularly find random food remnants in their car. Their specialty is Aussie-style sushi, essentially premade, uncut maki rolls for a quick grab 'n go meal. While Sushirrito was big years ago, this is a different: you can grab 1-2 rolls for a snack or 3+ for a full meal. They have 9 different handrolls stocked in the cold case: crispy chicken, shrimp tempura, spicy salmon, spicy tuna, salmon avocado, cooked shrimp + avocado, tuna + mayo, cucumber + avocado, and more. P R I C E S - 1 roll: $7 - 3 rolls: $18 - 4 rolls: $24 - Miso soup: $3.50 - Drinks: $4 (Side note: Sushi Counter in NYC charges $12 for three rolls, while Penny Roll in MI charges $10 for three.) H A N D R O L L S Simple and done right, the handroll (4 inch?) is rolled nice and tight, making it easy to eat and easily portable. The sushi rice is THE standout...sticky yet still retaining distinct grains with a subtle tang from the red vinegar. This was opening time tho so the texture can vary, depending on how long the rolls have been sitting in the cold case. The nori is chewy (as expected) but not too difficult to get a clean bite. * Tuna Mayo: An Aussie classic, this is like tuna kimbap minus the crunchy tang of pickled radish. * Spicy Salmon: The spicy mayo has yuzu, adding a nice, citrusy tang. * Spicy Tuna: Same delicious spicy mayo as above but the cut of tuna wasn't ideal...it was quite stiff with strips of sinew running through the entire piece. * Salmon Avocado: Can't go wrong with buttery salmon and perfectly ripen avocados. The rolls come in a pink box lined with their signature double-cherry paper. Cute and very on-brand. There are several tables for dine-in and two outside but this is more of a takeout spot. Hip hop playlist. Restroom available. Overall, Handroll Hawker is a solid option for a quick meal on-the-go esp if you live around Russian Hill or the Cow Hollow/Marina-adjacent areas. Grab a few rolls, hit the road, and hopefully find fewer rice grains in your car than I do.

Newly opened handroll spot on Polk. Very fresh and tasty! Finally something to replace the old zero& that's been sitting on the corner. The prices are not bad with a combo deal of 3 rolls for $18. The handrolls are a decent size, so was filling enough for a full meal. I got the spicy tuna and salmon roll. Both were delicious, with generous amounts of filling. Very flavorful with citrusy sauce. Also got the miso soup, which came in a cute pink cup. Service was quick on a weekday. It's mostly for takeout, but there's a few small tables inside and on the sidewalk as well.

This is such a fun and new concept on Polk! I ordered 3 rolls for $18 and it was a great snack before dinner. The rice was very flavorful and the rolls tasted freshly made. The spicy sauce in the spicy tuna is not my personal favorite but the proteins were pretty fresh. I feel like their dressed proteins need more acidity or kick to it. I also liked the to go miso soup. Tai and Romi are doing their best to serve fresh and tasty food and I felt like they were very accommodating to new customers!

I went there today and following people's recommendations I tried the lemonade and omg it's SO good!! My favorite hand roll was the shrimp tempura, beautiful place btw nice vibe and the girl at the front was super nice! I'd definitely will be back.

location is easy to find and so cute

SO GOOD I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS IN SF FOR OVER A DECADE and they DO NOT DISAPPOINT! (I'm hard to please with hand rolls my mom lives in Hawaii)...Exceptional staff, phenomenal selection (hard to pick a fav)! My son had 4 the first day and he's 6 and doesn't eat anything. Best in the bay hands down, I could legit go everyday. Local art by Serge Gay on the interior which is EPIC and beautiful pink boxes for your takeaway. What are you waiting for?! GREAT FOR ON THE GO, GREAT FOR A QUICKIE, GREAT FOR BOMB HANDROLLS FRESH FROM DOWN UNDA.

I loveeee it here! The lemonade is nothing I've ever tasted and it's so refreshing. The hand rolls are so yummy and I keep coming back. Favorites are shrimp tempura and crispy chicken. The vibes in this place is so nice and I also love the music. The staff are super nice and welcoming! This is forsure one of my new favorite spots and will always recommend to friends & family and keep coming back:))

I came here and ordered a salmon roll and tuna roll. I became very sick a few hours afterward and got food poisoning. Before leaving a review, I reached out to them privately on Instagram to give them a chance to address it and letting them know that's the only thing I ordered and had for dinner. Unfortunately, instead of taking my concern seriously, they assumed I must have eaten something elsewhere.

Tuna roll, salmon roll, and shrimp tempura roll with condiments on the side

Clean, fresh, tasty rolls without too much fillers inside. Reasonably priced for the size of each roll. Similar to maki roll except thicker roll so a lil bigger. Good value. Hope the quality and quantity doesn't change as they get more recognized.

Have eaten this place 4 times since opening. The roll are amazing. I've had tempura shrimp, crispy chicken & spicy tuna. The value is unreal for the taste. SF has needed something like this for a long time. The owner is so nice and you can tell she truly puts care into each box. Can't stop thinking about the Yuzu lemonade. This is our new go to lunch spot.

We were able to walk in and get seated fairly quickly without much of a wait. We partly also chose this place due to its Japantown location and proximity to Daiso (we had some errands to run). As for food, we got the Kani Dofuno Agedashi as a starter, and then we also shared a few rolls: the spicy tuna maki, negitoro maki, creamy salmon roll, and 49ers roll. We also had a Sapporo and two sake flights! It was nice that every sake flight had totally different sake options to try as well as little name cards describing the drink. All the food was so delicious, and we would definitely not only all rate it a 10/10 but we would also come back another time to try more dishes! :) The ambiance was also nice and cozy! There's a lot of seating, at high tops, tables, or at the sushi bar! Definitely a great vibe. Only downside is that the bathrooms are outside, but that's fairly consistent across most Japantown restaurants. Overall, we were very happy with our dining experience :)

TLDR: When you're at the heart of Japan town, you have to embody the nation in all the good ways…read more Kui Shin Bo, embodied the nation's backbone of being average to above average in multiple things. This place covers many of the basics (rolls, ramen, tempura, yakisoba, teriyaki, unagi). I really only see it as a jack of all trades, but a master of none. It doesn't mean that this restaurant has no place in Japantown, but it doesn't inspire confidence when it's located in an isolated region of the mall with less foot traffic, while its competition on the other wing has lines longer than the location's capacity. Black Garlic Ramen: It's always a mystery to me how black garlic improves a bowl of ramen. My expectations, however, remain the same. How thick is the broth? How clean is the broth when consumed? What is the quality of the chashu? Do I get enough noodles? I think the best part of this meal was the amount of soup they give, and the chashu was very good. It sucks that the chashu is tiny, but they did very well. I feel that the noodles were those wholesale ramen noodles that were portioned, and the garnish was fine. The broth was okay, 3.5-ish stars in terms of taste. Dynamite Roll and Volcano Roll: I think it's a problem if I have trouble identifying which is which. I can tell you that both are good enough to try, and the Volcano Roll comes with raw fish. Both come with a good crunch and a good sauce, but like most Japanese places that lean heavily into the rolls, good luck finding out what you ordered and what you just ate. Ambiance: Very classic Japanese. They're really at their best to convince you that you're in Japan. It may get tight during a busy day though. Service: Standard. You order, your water gets refilled, you pay, you leave.

Every roll was packed with fresh ingredients, the fish tasted incredibly fresh and the presentation was beautiful. My absolute favorite was the Domo Roll. Seriously no kidding, it was so good! The roll is so flavorful and just melts in your mouth. Unfortunately though, my last visit was honestly RUINED by poor customer service. I understand the model of first come first serve for their seating and have participated every time. However, this time I have a torn meniscus and called ahead to ask if I could be put on the waitlist since my mobility was very limited and the operator assured me there was no wait and I would be seated right away. 10 minutes later when we arrived that was not the case and we ended up being 4 parties behind in the line, which is fine things happen unexpectedly I totally understand. What really was upsetting was when we were told our table was next and being cleared, 10 minutes passed by so I went and asked again clarifying I could not stand for too long due to the injury. The server was very rude and said I had to wait to be told to sit, even though he had just told us we would be seated soon, and then proceeded to lie and tell me the open table was for the owner. The patron sat the table was definitely not the owner and I even heard him say he called and asked for the table for a first date. It felt really humiliating and upsetting to be passed up and continue to wait with a significant injury. And then when we finally were sat, at the bar top, the same server was just really rude and cold. It was an overall upsetting experience and I hope you never let your staff treat customers like that again. Overall, I do love the sushi but after this past experience I don't think I can come back.

If there isn't something on the conveyer, you can always ask for it. They were cutting up real, whole fish so you know it's fresh at least. Service was great, super quick and the "chefs" were responsive. The menu is nice, with lots of drinks to choose from as well. Cuts were not authentic but still meaty. Pricing can be on the higher side, depending on what you like. But others have mentioned it can be cheap as you like or expensive as you like at places like these, as they are priced essentially by the choice of fish and how it's prepared. Atmosphere was lively for a weekend night, but I have been here during the week as well when it's less busy. It can be tight if it's full (get to know your neighbor!) but it's more than adequate. Always a fun experience and I have , and will be back.

Oma San Francisco Station is an omakase restaurant inside Japan Center in San Francisco Japantown…read more They offer 3 menus: Mizuho with 24 items, Sakura with 16, and Tsubame with 12. The location is unusual, as the restaurant is open to the mall, which is a bit disruptive. I came for the 8:30pm seating, but the previous guests were still finishing, so I had to wait until 8:45pm. The staff did not seem very concerned. Bad start. You could also hear the mall cleaning crew during dinner, which was not very pleasant. I ordered the 24-item Mizuho Menu, as did all the other guests. There were 5 guests in total (the restaurant can seat up to 8 people). Here is the menu I was served at the end of May: 1. starter: ama ebi cracker with caviar, pickled lotus root with shaved bonito, crab salad 2. nigiri 4x: isaki, iwana, myabi tai, kanpachi 3. sashimi: chutoro, hotate with caviar, umi masu, sawada 4. nigiri 8x: hirame, suzuki, inada, kurodai, shima aji, kamasu, otoro, aged A5 wagyu, kinmedai 5. hot dish: miso soup with inari and shrimp head, hokkaido uni with marinated ikura, black cod, umi masu with raw yellow egg and caviar 6. dessert: matcha ice cream with strawberry Frankly, the food was excellent. The starter was not very creative, but the nigiri were great. The sashimi selection was very nice, with some fish you do not see as often in omakase menus, such as isaki, iwana, and myabi tai, a kind of tai. Sawada was delicious and is always a good inclusion. We asked for some wasabi and received a small cup of kizami wasabi, a chopped wasabi with a slightly crunchy texture, which was a nice touch. For the nigiri, all the classics of a good omakase were present: otoro, kinmedai, shima aji, uni, hotate, and wagyu. Kamasu was also included, and it is one of my favorite fish. It is also worth noting that they age both their beef and their tuna, including the otoro that was served. A few pieces were torched, maybe a few too many. Overall, the service was not memorable, although chef Ron Au was friendly and nice. The place itself felt a bit questionable, and my expectations were not very high after the beginning of the meal. But the food was truly excellent, and for that reason I think it deserves 5 stars.
