Just like wanting a hot dog real bad, I've had moments where I felt the same about a poke bowl. It's not as fussy as sushi, and you can get toppings and garnishes up the wazoo. On my way to Dolores Park, I must've had a confrontation with my wazoo when I randomly strolled in here for lunch. Everything still looked fresh at 2PM. I couldn't help but order a $17.95 Regular Bowl with Salmon and Yellowtail, my two favorite nigiri. In fact, I asked them to add extra yellowtail because I was "real bad". The rest was easy - white rice, kewpie mayo, cucumber: edamame, crab meat, green onion, sesame seeds, fried onions, ginger (Photo 7). Any more and I won't be able to bend and snap. FOOD - 4 stars...the salmon-yellowtail combo worked like a charm AMBIANCE - 3.5 stars...not much to the space but plenty of room SERVICE - 4 stars...pretty darn fast TOTAL - 4 stars...when you need a poke bowl real bad RELATED - Exploring the Castro? Had this spot on my list and decided to try it when I was in the area. Ordering was simple: it's a custom bowl and you choose everything from bases, to proteins, to sauces, and toppings. They're very generous (not so much with the proteins) and the medium size portion is good enough to share. For proteins, I chose the marinated salmon and tuna. Both were okay. I enjoyed my bowl overall. Limited seating inside because it's fairly small.

Such a cute little poke spot! It's a tiny spot and absolutely a neighborhood gem. Very casual with only a few seats. The portions are generous and they have a good selection of fish as well as toppings. They are also so friendly! Highly recommend grabbing a bowl here in your way to the park :)

Solid poke bowl spot! The ingredients were fresh and tasty. Portions were on the smaller side but it was still very good!

Medium Poke Bowl ($16.75 unless you throw in some extra cost items)

By now we all know the poke bowl drill: Choose your size, base, proteins, toppings, and garnishes. My hands-down favorite poke bowl and the best version I've ever had is in Orange County (Uroko) so in a way, every other poke bowl I consume is being compared to that. I'a Poke did a reasonably good job but if Uroko is 5-star (it is) then I'a Poke is 3-star. That said, I'm not in SoCal; I'm in NorCal and there's no Uroko here and I've not found a place that comes close. In NorCal, I'a Poke rates 4-stars. A medium bowl ran $16.75 pre-tax and if you throw in some extra cost items (e.g. mango) the cost can add up quite fast. The menu also offers some "signature poke bowls" at an additional cost (topping out at about $21) which take the guesswork out of optimizing your order. I ordered up a pretty decent poke bowl on my own, not best in class but good enough that I feel comfortable saying if you're looking for a poke bowl in the City you'll likely be satisfied by what I'a Poke is putting out.

Large Build your Own Bowl

Delicious. Got a large bowl and had to power through to finish it. I really like the marinated salmon but it has ALOT of onions. When my first scoop was mainly onion the guy making the bowl was very nice about re-scooping. Kind service. Good tasting food. Highly recommend. Best for to go.

regular bowl

Pretty decent poke bowls, especially considering the prices. I got a regular bowl with salmon, yellowtail, brown rice, tamago, masago, and kimchi. They have a nice selection of fish and toppings, and I like that they have yellowtail because some places don't. Not the most incredible presentation but it was good, the fish was great quality. I do wish the rice was warmer, it was just kind of room temperature. I don't have much else the say. The location is nice, it's really quiet inside but I was just getting a quick bite and heading out so it was ideal for that.

I absolutely love all their pre-marinated poke options. A medium size is a good amount of food. Many toppings to offer. Definitely recommend stopping in.

Friendly and quick service. Poke bowl was fresh and rice heavy. Perfect late dinner.

I don't think I'd come back. I paid $20 for a bowl and couldn't eat it. The tofu was really hard and the spicy tuna tasted sour to me. They charged an extra dollar for a side of sauce. Just not worth the money to me. The bowl was pretty though!

I come here all the time! I love poke and this is a great lunch/fast dinner spot. My usual order which I know by heart now is: Large white rice bowl 2 portions spicy tuna, 2 marinated tuna Green onions + cilantro Sesame shoyu, spicy mayo, chili oil Fish eggs, crab, both seaweeds, edamame, sometimes avocado Togarashi sesame seeds friend onions furikake And a little more sesame shoyu on top I always take it to go but I like the music when I'm there. More electronic/pop vibes. I go there often and I think they know my order by now haha

I sometimes really luck out on parking, Gay Pride and found a spot at the corner at 7pm. About the shop, it's not huge but it does not need to be with each poke bowl crafted if you wish to your specifications. My suggestion, build your own Bowl with the Regular being more then sufficient for a meal, but if you wish go Large at worse you get some killer leftovers As for the Food it's really fresh, and the Seafood is top notch. I love to include a mix of proteins for texture contrasts with my choice being for chew Shrimp or Octopus, and for flavor the Marinated Tuna or Salmon, or the Yellowtail. Toppings omfg oh so good Seaweed, Masago, Kimchi, Cucumbers. Garnishes, YES, Furikake, Ginger, Sesame Seeds and more :) In short great fresh food, friendly service, and a price point that I can embrace!

Claudine R.

Pretty good poke. I guess some of the condiments and garnishes weren't the freshest when I went. I specifically noticed the ginger wasn't fresh and I like a strong ginger. Watching them scoop the fish, it seems like they're skimpy on the fish but to me it's okay since I like to add a lot of condiments and garnishes. So it seems like more food to me. Service was fast during lunch hour. There's limited seating, maybe like 8-10 seats. So I wouldn't plan on eating there. Take it to Dolores and enjoy it there, unless you're alone.

An amazing food item I have only had here: poke in a burrito-like seaweed wrap. Craveable.

We got the Garlic Noodles, Pork Belly Taco, Kalbi Short Ribs, and of course the Wings, as well as the Ube Colada and Lychee-tini. The Garlic Noodles were delicious. Couldn't stop going back for more with the yummy Garlic flavor. If you love Garlic, you will definitely love these Noodles. The Pork Belly Tacos were just okay. It was cooked fine, but the flavor was just okay. The Kalbi Short Ribs were also just okay. They were cooked fine, but really had little to no flavor. Definitely have had better. As for the Wings, we got the Pa'ina, Sriracha Honey,Salt and Pepper, Garlic Cilantro, and Spicy Mango. The Pa'ina has Sweet Chili Glaze, but too us was just spicy and didn't really have much flavor beyond that. In comparison, the Sriracha Honey we thought had more flavor besides its heat. The Salt and Pepper was a disappointment. It didn't have much flavor and was actually the least tasty of all of them. It was moist like the rest of them, but wish that the Skin was crispy like you expect Dry Rub Wings to be instead of being soggy. The Garlic Cilantro was a good combination with the Fish Sauce, Cilantro, Garlic, Serrano, and Lime Juice if you like Cilantro. The Spicy Mango was actually no really spicy and had a good Mango flavor to it, not that artificial Mango flavor you get with some things Plus, the Ube Colada was thankfully not too sweet, and was well balanced in Alcohol to drink ratio instead of barely tasting the Alcohol or the Ube. The Lychee-tini was also well balanced in both the Lychee and Alcohol flavor. Overall, great drinks, service, and food. Definitely would come here again and try more yummy food.

I stopped coming here because they discontinued their croquette musubi. Well today, I checked…read moretheir online order platform and the croquette musubi were back! I placed a togo order and went in to pick it up. The order was ready before the appointed time. I did not get the croquette musubi. It was a gross fried spam musubi smothered in shitty spicy sauce that I did not want. WTF happened to you Kitchen Aloha? No one smothers their musubi with shitty Korean spicy sauce. The whole thing was inedible. This sucks

Underwhelming poke in the Tenderloin…read more Based on the appearance of the bowl, I was expecting bright and fresh flavors, but looks are deceiving. I was disappointed to find the bowl very bland and flavorless. It felt dry. The only sauce was mixed with the salmon pieces and didn't really taste like anything. This left the rest of the bowl lacking flavor and having dry rice. It seems like they just threw in a bunch of random ingredients to take up space in the bowl. I mean, carrots and tortilla strips are definitely interesting choices for a poke bowl. The portion was relatively small for what you pay. The amount of avocado given was just sad. You also aren't able to make adjustments to add other things to the bowl - you're stuck with what is set in the description. For this spot being a very small hole in the wall, I thought I would be noticed and assisted quickly. I was the only person in there but had to wait an unreasonably long time to get my order. I placed the order online long before I walked to the restaurant during my lunch break. When I got there, I sat waiting for probably 10 or so minutes before someone even came out from the back to hand me my food. Maybe their other menu items are better, but I wouldn't recommend Kitchen Aloha for their poke bowls.
