Domo was a great experience for my friend and I! The outdoor seating was fine in 60-degree weather with the heat lamps. We came at 6PM and there was already a waitlist for indoor seating. What we ordered: + Black Pearl [4.5/5]: Great great umami roll. I think it could have some more depth like acidity or saltiness, but the black pearl roll is a great mouthfeel of fatty fish and caviar. + Castro Roll [3.5/5]: An average roll. + Poke Tacos [5/5]: HIGHLY recommend these. Super great portion for the price. Really delicious flavor. I think the ratio of fish to everything else is very well-balanced. Each bite has a great ratio of crunchy seaweed to a mouthful of fish to that umami avocado and sauce. I would 100% order these again as an appetizer. I would definitely come try again! The quality was pretty good, though nothing in particular blew me away except for the poke tacos. :)

Great neighborhood sushi spot with great service. Came in right before last call and ordered the California crab roll and a spicy tuna roll. The sushi taste super fresh and the the prices are really fair. Great spot to swing by and have a couple rolls and roll on with your day. For two rolls and a bowl of miso was $35. They also have specials that are hand written on the glass wall inside with other options that aren't in the menu. It's not a very large restaurant so seating can be limited if it does get busy but the inside is very clean.

A cute place in hayes valley that has seafood options. It's a small place but has a good options and is in a good location.

This is a very small restaurant with a simple menu. We went on a Saturday evening, and the wait was surprisingly only about 20 minutes. The service was okay: slightly rushed, but understandable given the small space and quick turnover. We started with the Negi Toro Roll, which was pretty standard. The Black Pearl Roll caught our eye with its interesting description, and we were told it tends to be hit or miss. Personally, I thought it sounded better than it actually tasted. The flavors don't go that well together. The Sunkis Roll was better, because I liked the combination of salmon and lemon. The real highlight of the meal was the Poke Tacos. We literally debated ordering another round. They come as a pair, but you can add a third if you're dining with an odd number of people. Each taco is a crispy tempura seaweed shell topped with poke and a generous heap of seaweed salad. I'd come back for the poke tacos alone, but otherwise, the food didn't leave a strong impression.

Cozy sushi spot with plenty of space right in the heart of Hayes Valley. I'm not a huge sushi lover, but I liked this this place wasn't just mood lighting and a high price tag. They had a good mix of rolls, and I left pretty satisfied after a dinner with 3 friends. They were pretty busy but there wasn't a wait on a Thursday night. Would come back and try more rolls!

Needed a quick bite and came to Domo as I heard they had ties to a very famous influencer's father. Not sure what I was expecting, but thought it would be more than low-quality nigiri. The service was good as they were attentive and seated me very fast. There is very limited seating. I opted into sitting at the bar as it was only available for parties of 1. The yuzu sashimi was good, but the nigiris were sub-par or low quality to my standard. It wasn't that great in my honest opinion. The sushi tacos were loaded, but just seemed like it was put together with a bunch of sauce.

My boyfriend and I were in the mood for sushi after shopping in Hayes Valley, and we discovered Domo on Yelp. Due to their limited seating, they don't take reservations. We arrived on a Saturday around 7 PM and found the place packed, with a party ahead of us and maybe one table available outside. We opted for inside seating as it was chilly outside (but there were heaters outside FYI). We were seated within ~15 minutes at a table. There were ~4 tables and some bar seating inside. We quickly fell in love with the cozy, intimate ambiance inside. The tables were spaced out nicely, and the table size was perfect for all the dishes we ordered--no issues moving anything around. The staff was friendly. Here is our order for the night: Large Sapporo Beer and Umeshu (plum wine): I was thrilled to see umeshu on the menu, as it is my favorite alcoholic drink! I am used to having it with club soda, so it definitely felt strong, but it was still smooth and tasty. Miso Soup: Great appetizer. Edamame: Comes in a very generous portion, perfect for sharing. Crunchy California Roll and Domo Roll: These rolls were good but, unfortunately, a little underwhelming. They were tasty, but not incredible. Omakase (4pc): This was the highlight of the meal! The nigiris were top-notch and the fish was very fresh. We'll definitely be ordering more nigiris on our next visit! Our meal was the perfect amount of food to satisfy us. The total, before tip, was $104, which I think is a reasonable price for the quality of the food.

This place was so so so so so good I almost cried eating the domo roll !! This is a cute little restaurant tucked in Hayes Valley that you can expect a waiting list at upon arrival. It is so cozy yet classy inside and you are greeted by the amazing folks who work there. The star of this night was the domo roll, to which I have no words to say other than that roll was FIREEEEE like each bite felt like fireworks exploding :,) I could eat like ten of these in a row. If you are ever in the area pleasseeeee make sure you try this because WOW. Must come back and have again !

My friends and I were in Hayes on a Friday night and originally wanted to check out a different restaurant but the wait was way too long. We stumbled upon Domo on Yelp and although it's not directly on Hayes, it's a quick 2 minute walk away. I actually recognized Domo from an influencer I follow on socials! Her dad owns the restaurant! For a party of 3, we ordered a couple of things. For appetizers, we got the edamame, sashimi salad, and hamachi crudo. We got three rolls to share - the negi toro, domo, and castro. We also got a bottle of Riesling for the table. Everything was amazing! My standouts were the hamachi crudo and negi toro roll. The fish was really fresh and pricing was overall pretty good for SF. The service is fairly quick, and the restaurant is cozy. It's pretty small, so there's limited seating but feels intimate. Definitely a great spot for a date! I will be back!

been wanting to come here because isa sung's dad owns it the sushi is pretty high quality, I would say this is a hidden gem and one of the better sushi spots in sf. the moment I saw the $15 off doordash deal I came sprinting. the restaurant is really small but we walked in on a wednesday night and got a cozy table in a corner. we tried the domo ($18), castro ($18), black pearl ($20) and they were all delicious. the domo had unagi which I love but since it's baked it was missing the oomph from the crisp. the black pearl was unique with the truffle pate. all the fish were melt in your mouth tender :") would come back to try more rolls!

Very cute sushi restaurant in Hayes Valley. Good quality fish and amazing menu items! Their specials' menu is always so good and creative. I love their truffle rolls and sashimi/carpaccio. They also have really smooth sake options that you must pair with your meal. Quiet and cozy ambiance and super sweet staff!

such a cute date spot. it's soo romantic. the seating outside r all benches facing the road and they have a heat lamp above every single bench. also u can ask for a blanket, they'll provide one to keep u extra toasty. now onto the food. i'm impressed by the ratio of yuzu in some of the dishes we ordered. it worked wonders with the salmon citron and hamachi crudo (OUR FAV) i can't stop thinking about it!!! and the black pearl (scallop + truffle another heavenly pairing) also had that hint of citron that never once overpowered the fish even tho u can taste it clear as day workers there are also attentive and personable, i so so recommend!

    Online price

This place scams you on pricing, especially on pickup orders. Online their chirarshi bowl is listed for $35 + tax/fees When you go to pickup and pay, the bill says $41+taxes/fees When I pointed the discrepancy out, all I got was a whoops can't do anything there tough luck Make sure you check the bill for any issues

Been here a couple of times already and the service never failed. Even came here during the Cherry Blossom Festival and the staff were still friendly / accommodating. They even put a spicy sauce on the side of one of the katsu plates when we mentioned that my dad couldn't handle all that haha. This cozy spot mainly focuses on katsu plates, but I like how they had off menu or specials to choose from if you'd like another option. I will say though them katsu plates were just chef's kiss. The meat is pounded thin enough where it's still juicy and tender, but doesn't affect the exterior from being crunchy and a bit flaky. Nothing was dry here yallll! I also like how it already comes with miso soup and salad. Huge fan of that Hamachi Truffle special though. Think of a citrusy flavor from the ponzu, fresh fish, a bit of micro greens, and a thin slice of jalapeño that just ~works~ on a cute wooden spoon that you want to steal I could honestly eat like 5 spoons of this. I'd skip on the calamari as it was kind of skimpy to share with a large group. Only note was that their fried katsu curry was a bit underwhelming with having more slices of carrots than potato! Would love to come back if I am ever in the area.

The restaurant can be a little hidden, but it's pretty easy to find with the instructions they send before your reservation. It's located above Fermentation Lab. Just head up the stairs and you'll find it inside the old Ichi Pub space. The restaurant is small and intimate, with only 9 seats at the counter. When you arrive, walk through the Yuji curtain and check in directly with the chef since there is no host. My biggest concern with set menus is always whether I'll feel satisfied and full afterward, but that was definitely not an issue here. My husband and I were both very satisfied after the meal. Every dish was delicious, and you could really taste the quality of each ingredient. Highlights for me were the bluefin sashimi, which was so buttery and soft that it literally melted in your mouth. The skillfish was rich and decadent, and the citrus and ginger balanced the flavors. The fried fish was another favorite as it reminded me of the savory Japanese rice crackers I loved growing up. Since it's located in Japantown, parking can be challenging. We had to loop around several times looking for street parking and even had two cars take spots we were waiting for, so definitely give yourself extra time before your reservation. I would highly recommend this place! The chef changes the menu periodically based on what's in season, so it's a great excuse to come back and try something new in the future. The location is unusual, as the restaurant is open to the mall, which is a bit disruptive. I came for the 8:30pm seating, but the previous guests were still finishing, so I had to wait until 8:45pm. The staff did not seem very concerned. Bad start. You could also hear the mall cleaning crew during dinner, which was not very pleasant. I ordered the 24-item Mizuho Menu, as did all the other guests. There were 5 guests in total (the restaurant can seat up to 8 people). Here is the menu I was served at the end of May: 1. starter: ama ebi cracker with caviar, pickled lotus root with shaved bonito, crab salad 2. nigiri 4x: isaki, iwana, myabi tai, kanpachi 3. sashimi: chutoro, hotate with caviar, umi masu, sawada 4. nigiri 8x: hirame, suzuki, inada, kurodai, shima aji, kamasu, otoro, aged A5 wagyu, kinmedai 5. hot dish: miso soup with inari and shrimp head, hokkaido uni with marinated ikura, black cod, umi masu with raw yellow egg and caviar 6. dessert: matcha ice cream with strawberry Frankly, the food was excellent. The starter was not very creative, but the nigiri were great. The sashimi selection was very nice, with some fish you do not see as often in omakase menus, such as isaki, iwana, and myabi tai, a kind of tai. Sawada was delicious and is always a good inclusion. We asked for some wasabi and received a small cup of kizami wasabi, a chopped wasabi with a slightly crunchy texture, which was a nice touch. For the nigiri, all the classics of a good omakase were present: otoro, kinmedai, shima aji, uni, hotate, and wagyu. Kamasu was also included, and it is one of my favorite fish. It is also worth noting that they age both their beef and their tuna, including the otoro that was served. A few pieces were torched, maybe a few too many. Overall, the service was not memorable, although chef Ron Au was friendly and nice. The place itself felt a bit questionable, and my expectations were not very high after the beginning of the meal.
