Tried this place for the first time and I loved it! I came on a Monday night at 7pm, so getting a seat wasn't a problem. It's a smaller place though so that's something to keep in mind for a day that might be busier. The service was very attentive and friendly. I'll always order salmon collar if I see it on a menu and this one was huge! It's felt like a whole salmon fillet along with the collar. The black pearl roll was my favorite. It had a good seared flavor and the dollop of truffle pate on top wasn't overwhelming. The jalapeño hamachi was also a solid choice. I'd pass on the zesty salmon tempura roll next time, but I'm also not the biggest fan of shrimp tempura in general. I'll definitely come back here. The service was okay: slightly rushed, but understandable given the small space and quick turnover. We started with the Negi Toro Roll, which was pretty standard. The Black Pearl Roll caught our eye with its interesting description, and we were told it tends to be hit or miss. Personally, I thought it sounded better than it actually tasted. My boyfriend and I were in the mood for sushi after shopping in Hayes Valley, and we discovered Domo on Yelp. Due to their limited seating, they don't take reservations. We arrived on a Saturday around 7 PM and found the place packed, with a party ahead of us and maybe one table available outside. We opted for inside seating as it was chilly outside (but there were heaters outside FYI). We were seated within ~15 minutes at a table. There were ~4 tables and some bar seating inside. We quickly fell in love with the cozy, intimate ambiance inside. The tables were spaced out nicely, and the table size was perfect for all the dishes we ordered--no issues moving anything around. The staff was friendly. Here is our order for the night: Large Sapporo Beer and Umeshu (plum wine): I was thrilled to see umeshu on the menu, as it is my favorite alcoholic drink! I am used to having it with club soda, so it definitely felt strong, but it was still smooth and tasty. Miso Soup: Great appetizer. Edamame: Comes in a very generous portion, perfect for sharing. Crunchy California Roll and Domo Roll: These rolls were good but, unfortunately, a little underwhelming. They were tasty, but not incredible. Omakase (4pc): This was the highlight of the meal! The nigiris were top-notch and the fish was very fresh. We'll definitely be ordering more nigiris on our next visit! Our meal was the perfect amount of food to satisfy us. First and last time for this place unfortunately. The restaurant is VERY small, only a few tables. It's freezing cold at night and they have the door open. Patrons were wearing jackets inside because it was so cold. I sat at the counter which was pretty tight. The service was ok nothing special. The food was boring. I tried the Jalapeño Hamachi roll. It was literally hamachi and slice jalapeño. No sauce or anything. Complete miss. I also tried the hot tuna roll. This was better. Good flavor and nice crunch to the roll. Mildly spicy, but it was good, not great. For the price of sushi these days I will absolutely skip this place and go elsewhere. The size of the place made me feel rushed to eat and get out. Came here for the good reviews and the good prices so decided to check out Domo for a light dinner! We ordered 3 rolls, including their speciality black pearl with albacore, their Domo roll, and a veggie roll. Their veggie roll was unique since they added sweet potato but I was struggling to swallow it half the time because of the shiso leaf that was added in or it might have been the tough nori. The Domo was probably the best roll since the scallop and salmon were cooked to perfection! The specialty roll (black pearl) was also really good but the shiso came up again in this roll (probably some sort of oil) which we realized we weren't a fan of that particular flavor.
