    Cute intimate spot, delicious tapas style dishes, & sashimi. We were for date night and had the most pleasant experience. Our waitress was so sweet and honest about recommending the best dishes for our $ and flavor profile. We were seated toward the back in an intimate two seat table, and next to us were to friends who seemed to be catching up on life over a meal. Loved conversing with them and sharing what items we were all ordering. Honestly - likely why I'm giving 5/5 stars as vibes were amazing. The 5 piece omakase was only $30-$35 (I think) and each piece was unique with their own flavor profiles & sauces. Such an experience with each bite. We enjoyed the idea of tapas style dishes as we got to try multiple items (not all pictured) and some were a new take! Corn Tempura--fire fire fire. We love IPA, so when we saw Matcha IPA on the menu we were so excited because we have yet to try. Such an elite combo!

    Went here for dinner on a Saturday night around 8pm. Called ahead and got a reservation for two but there were empty tables when we arrived so you may not need to do that. Staff was very friendly and the place is cute and has anime decorations. We got the five piece omakase nigiri and a selection of four nigiri and shared some tapas. To me, the tapas were the star of the show. We got the ika and uni, baked baby scallops with uni, the shishito peppers, and the miso soup. The scallops were phenomenal! It comes with two little bites on two scallop shells and since it's baked there's a delicious caramelization that blends well with the uni and scallop. Must try! They ika and uni I recommend as well. I also recommend the king sake toro (it's torched) and the o toro. Some of the nigiri like the scallop one had too much wasabi for me. Cute spot if you're in the area!

    Great neighborhood spot for authentic sushi. This is not your Americanized sushi roll experience but high quality sushi. My group tried the corn fritters, gyoza, and 8 piece omakase--it did not disappoint. The restaurant is bigger than it looks and we were able to get a last minute reservation for 5 people without a problem.

    Holy hell this place was good. It was giving authentic Japanese cuisine baby, there wasn't a California roll on the menu. Fantastic Japanese tapas and everything was so Delicious. Me and my mansss enjoyed the Valentine's Day pre fix menu which came with a variety of dishes, including sashimi, omakase nigiri, hamachi crudo, udon, yuzu brussel sprouts, trip tip katsu I mean I could go on. We particularly enjoyed the thiccc and saucy enoki mushrooms. The flavor was buss down! The service was quick! The sake was flowing! I need to come back asap!

    Fenikkusu serves some interesting dishes that you wouldn't find at your typical Japanese restaurant. As the name says they serve tapas (ie small portion) dishes and specialize in sushi. The mini kaisen don is the real star of the menu and is a well thought out balance of sashimi rice, aromatics and salmon roe for some brininess. The mentaiko pasta is also a really awesome dish. I would come back here for these two dishes. I also enjoyed the corn fritters and the mackerel. I would stay away from the oxtail pot and is the main reason why I didn't give a five star rating.

    The ambience of this place is so cute and cozy. We got the matcha IPA which was so smooth. Then we got the mushroom in miso sauce, escolar, and 8pc omakase. The chef makes it in front of you if you sit at the bar and he was super sweet! Amazing service and even more amazing food.

We ordered- Hamachi carpaccio - 5/5 a must! $13 Mentaiko udon - 5/5 a must, chewy noodles so flavorful I would come back for these! Waygu carpaccio- $15 Unagi don - flavorful $26 5-piece Omasake nigiri - $28 this was my least favorite as somehow the fish was flavorless. Overall a great Japanese tapas place with sake.

    I can't believe the last time I went to Fenikkusu was all the way back in spring last year - it way too good to be missing it for so long! This time I tried: - three-piece sake nigiri - my one true fish love is salmon always and forever - it was so fresh and buttery here - mini kaizen don - had the most adorable presentation/I wish I could keep the baby wooden spoon. The fish was a good variety and again very fresh but did not include sake so I'm glad I ordered that separately! My favorite part was the uni which was SO creamy and the perfect touch of sweet. Lovely place and it seems like you can count on being able to get a table quite easily!

    Amazing service and ambiance and even better food. This place serves wonderful omakase that's fresh and unique, but my favorite is the mentai udon. It's amazing and I always get this as takeout as well.

    Came here for an early dinner on a Thursday with some friends. I would def make a reservation if you come on a weekend or even for a later dinner. We got a couple of things to share but the dish that stood out the most was definitely this don with ikura, toro, and uni. After mixing it it was the perfect bite. The mentaiko udon was also really good as well as the hamachi carpaccio. This is such a great spot for a smaller group dinner or a cute date night. I will definitely be coming back to try out their other dishes!

    With only one full table, I knew something was amiss. The mission is usually packed with people during dinner time on a Sunday night. This place was practically empty. Waygu beef carpaccio was overcooked. Like carpaccio is supposed to be on the rare side, but I knew from looking at it that it would be a fail. Eating it only proved my point. Maguro zuke was just okay, and so was the O-toro. Had better elsewhere. My uni and Toro bowl for almost $60 was not worth it. They let you order one per table, but my table didn't even like the one we ordered. The brown rice was dry, and the uni wasn't melt in your mouth buttery. The Toro tasted like it had been sitting in the Tupperware for a while. The fried Anago was plain and boring and came with tonkatsu sauce. They should season the batter. The asparagus was horrible. It had a lot of hard edges that should have been stripped off. It's unedible if you don't strip off the hard part. Waste of $8 or so. The sushi was just okay. We thought it was overpriced and really couldn't say it was super fresh or the best we ever had. Just overall disappointed.

The fish was so fresh and melted in my mouth. I highly recommend getting the tasting to try out different pieces. We also ordered the snow mountain roll which included white tuna. I also enjoyed this role. Everything paired really well together. The Gyoza was also tastier than I was expecting. Super crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The koueigiku sake paired so well with all the food. Super smooth, sweet and went down easily. It was $24 per glass, which was on the pricier side but worth it.

Between the four of us, we ordered the yellowtail sashimi, Japanese style fried chicken, chef's selection of seven sashimi, a Wagyu New York strip with mushroom ponzu butter sauce, a yuzu miso marinated black cod, a side of bone marrow with sweet garlic soy and a Japanese mushroom rice hot pot. Before jumping into the food, I wanted to quickly call out some highlights from our service for the night. I thought the pacing of the dishes was good, it was thoughtful that our server had written down which specific seat ordered which cocktail, I appreciate that our waiter waited for our last guest to arrive before going over the menu, and I liked that we received clean plates at some point during the meal, and the table was cleaned off before dessert. The small details matter! Of the dishes we ordered, the miso marinated black cod was by far my favorite dish. Compared to the cod at Nobu, the one here is not as sweet, nor as charred, but that's not a knock at all -- it's just different. The flakiness of the fish really demonstrates how carefully and skillfully the fish had been prepared and cooked. If there's one dish you have to order while you're here, it has to be the fish. Another item I really enjoyed was the Japanese style fried chicken. This item reminded me of really well-made popcorn chicken: the thigh meat was tender and juicy, the pieces were lightly battered yet still really crispy, and the chicken was well-seasoned. I thought the weakest dish was actually the most expensive dish: the Wagyu New York. The steak was cooked nicely and I enjoyed the mushrooms that were garnished on top, but the ponzu butter sauce was a bit lacking -- a lot lighter than I thought, and the entire dish desperately needed some finishing salt. From the small dessert menu, the only item that caught our group's attention was the Japanese style strawberry cheesecake. Unfortunately, this cheesecake was a miss for everyone in the group, leaving our last bites a bit disappointing. The cheesecake had a texture that was spongy and almost too soft, almost similar to what you'd experience biting into a soaked strawberry shortcake dessert. Overall, Roka Akor had some hits and some misses. If you're in charge of booking a large corporate dinner, Roka Akor definitely fits the bill, since we say many such groups here during our time here. If you're looking for an intimate date night, you also might want to look elsewhere, since the volume here gets uncomfortably loud to talk without having to yell a bit. However, if you're looking for a spot to fill that very niche mid-week splurge with friends or co-workers, Roka Akor is a good option.

Original mushroom potstickers and katsu curry rice were both skips from me. The potstickers didn't have that much flavor to me, and they were really flimsy and fell apart upon picking up. I had higher expectations for the katsu curry rice as well but maybe it was an off day, as the chicken was dry and stringy and the curry didn't have the classic rich/deep flavor I was expecting. Overall glad I got to try Bon, Nene once! Definitely worth trying the mentaiko spaghetti here.

Everything was extremely fresh and the fish melted like butter in my mouth. Every course was extremely flavorful and just truly deliberate; there was a story behind everything. They also have a really great sake list and our server recommended delicious pairings that went well with each course. I genuinely cannot wait to go back and experience another Omakase here!
