Yum!! This place was so good and the service was awesome. The owners were so nice and very attentive. The tuna tataki, miso soup, seaweed salad, and the chronic roll were all amazing. Would definitely come back here. We both left stuffed for less than $40 each after tax and tip! Thank you to my Yelp Elite homies for showing me this place

This is my cult favorite sushi spot in San Francisco. Do you want to support a small business? Feel like mom n pop restaurants are dead? COME TO HOT ZUSHI, it's cozy, and the green tea is perfection. Connie and her husband are a kind, efficient, duo that spin up fresh sushi every time. We come to Hot Zushi monthly, take our friends here, and visitors. If there is a wait, since there's only a dozen tables - I promise it's worth waiting for, just grab a drink across the street at the Woods. We haven't tried anything what isn't great but here are our favorites we rotate: - House salad is a MUST - Edamame - Miso - cucumber salad - wakame (seaweed) - Hamachi lime - Jalapeno tuna - big team - Big poppa - chronic - smashing pumpkins - tiger - any sashima My star rating: 5 - must go!!! 4 - liked it, give it a try! 3 - it was alright 2 - I probably won't go back 1 - turnaround and run

Delicious rolls. The vegan rolls are amazing. I got garden and hot night.

Amazing food. Reasonably priced. Super nice and intimate. Vegan rolls were great. Adding this to my regular restaurant rotation.

The name of this place is absolutely deceiving, I seriously questioned how the food would be considering the name. To my surprise this place is great - the quality is fantastic and it's superrr reasonable!! Everyone is hyped on drenching their sushi in "eel sauce" and spicy mayo, this is not the place for that. It's fresh fish prepared well - very clean tasting. Even though it's not on the menu I've heard that you can request omakase, which I will definitely be getting the next time I'm in!

This is out go-to sushi place in SF. You can't get better than Hot Zushi. The attention is exceptional (Connie and David - the owners - are AMAZING humans) We come here probably once or twice every couple of weeks. Sometimes we dine in and often times we pick up to go (they don't deliver). My husband and I have made a tradition of celebration our birthdays here, and everyone that comes and tries their sushi are immediately converted into customers. Sushi is great and fairly priced which is so hard to find in the city. Highly recommend you order the crunchy sake, the tuna tataki, the nachos are to die for, and the sake kale is incredible. My mouth is watering just by writing this. My husband's favorite is the jagger (only order I'd you are dining in, because to-go, it will get soggy) The place can get crowded sometimes. Definitely worth the wait if you have to wait. The inside is nice and simple. And if you have a party, make sure you call ahead and they will make a reservation (please make sure you show up, and don't leave them hanging- a cancellation of a big party is a big deal for a small business like this)

I thought this was a great casual dinner spot and a good value! We paid about $60 for two people and left very full. I'm a vegetarian and really appreciate that they had some fun unique options for rolls! I got the garden roll which I HIGHLY recommend if you are a vegetarian - the garlic eggplant on it was reallyyyyy delicious and the tempura asparagus was incredibly crispy. I also got the buddha roll, it was just okay and I wouldn't rave about it. Honestly I would have been full with just the one garden roll. My boyfriend got three rolls - he liked the 49ers roll the best. The other two were pretty good too! Overall I thought this was a good place and the service was friendly.

Really enjoyed this hole in the wall sushi place! From the outside, it didn't look like much and I thought it was going to be cheap, not super great sushi. Even sitting down I wasn't too impressed because it was pretty empty for a Friday night. We ordered the Sake Kirota, Hot Stuff, and Delicious and they were really good! Same Kirota was carb free (they used a daikon instead) and it was definitely an interesting take on sushi. Personally not my favorite, but really glad I tried it and they gave pretty generous amounts of salmon. Hot stuff and delicious were really good! I was a huge fan of the tempura in the hot stuff and the delicious had a nice sweet kick that made it the perfect dessert sushi. The waiter was also very friendly! She was smiling all the time and seemed like dish a sweet person :)

Chronic roll, best thing we ordered but was still average

Hmmm yes this place is affordable, but it shows in the quality of the fish and the craft. Overall a pretty mediocre sushi place that's not worth going out of your way to try. We ordered a vegetable appetizer kale & mushroom, 4 nigiris (hamachi toro, blue fin toro, sake toro, and scallops), the Kale sake roll and the chronic roll. Everything was pretty average. The fish was fresh, yes, but also not that high quality. A lot of cuts of meat tasted pretty bland. The scallops would have been great but there was too much wasabi. The rolls were okay - they fell apart when I picked them up... I've had much better rolls at other places at similar price points. Service was okay. We waited for an hour for our rolls to come out - could have been a busy night for them. Won't return for sure; there are way too many good sushi places in SF even at this price point.

We called to ask about a walk-ins, and they told us they could get us a spot in 20 minutes on a Saturday at ~7:45 p.m. We had: - Scallop skewers: 5/5, I've never had scallop skewers this good. So creamy, juicy, and tender - Uni toast: 5/5, perfect ratio between the toast and the uni. The toast was super soft. It just paired really well with all the other ingredients. Seasoned also perfectly - Heavenly salmon roll: 5/5, before eating this, we were so skeptical because we saw imitation crab which usually overpowers everything but WOW. It just paired so perfectly. - Snow mountain roll: 5/5, love the acidity on this. - Okaeri donburi: 4/5, felt like too much rice for the ingredients that were on it, but still enjoyed it. The level of execution and attention to detail on some of these dishes was insane. It's so rare that places nail so many dishes. I cannot wait to go back!!! Still dreaming of this meal.

The first time I came here, I got the strawberry matcha latte with my friends. We ordered it via delivery on DoorDash, and I'm not sure if it's just the whole delivery part, but I could not taste any part of the strawberry! It just tasted like regular cream on top. Typically I'm more of a coffee person than matcha, so I'm not a great judge in whether this was good matcha or not. But I guess it did taste ok in my opinion. The funny thing is, my coworker also said the same thing when she ordered the strawberry matcha latte a separate time! Disappointing. A separate time, we also ordered from them via delivery. This time I was eager to try their food items instead, since they have a pretty interesting selection, like those cake sandwiches and various Japanese items. I got the spam masubi, which I thought would be a solid choice. It did arrive warm, but the slice of spam that was in the masubi was so thin! It was the thinnest piece of spam I had ever gotten, and I've gotten spam masubis at a variety of places including ABC stores and other places in Hawaii, and even various stores in the States. The rice was okay, some brown rice thing with seasoning, that was decent but not my preferred white rice. Overall my two times here have been disappointing. I will really never line up for this place in person, nor will I understand why people do.

The fish were plated beautifully, and the quality was pretty good. + Shungiku Kama Sarada (chrysanthemum greens & duck breast) [6/5 - would recommend]: WOW. I was so pleasantly surprised by how fresh, crunchy, and acidic this salad was. The greens are amazing. On top of that, the duck breast was so tender and delicious-- I just wish the dish came with a few more slices. + Chicken Oyster [4/5]: I really loved how juicy this was. I normally don't like chicken because of how dry it is, but this was a great skewer. I wish the skin was a little less burnt. The chicken was also so thick that while the outside was juicy, the inside was a little drier. + King Trumpet [4/5]: Wow! These looked amazing when they arrived. I thought the flavor was great but the texture was a bit rubbery. + Kama Tama Udon (carbonara) [4.5/5]: Delicious! I couldn't stop eating this udon slathered in amazing thick sauce. + Chiizu Tori Katsu [4/5]: This was sooo good.
