I was not well educated in coffee when I originally reviewed Zeke's. As a coffee professional, I can say they bake and poorly develop their beans. The staff and atmosphere is fine, but the coffee is bad. read more

I was in the mood to find an authentic coffee house and found great reviews of this place on yelp (surprise, surprise). I have also heard several friends talk about how great Zeke's coffee is so I was doubly intrigued. I finally decided to check the place out. Unfortunately, I was arriving rather close to closing time so I could only go in and out. There is ample street parking out front (pay to park machines). Zeke's was very kind to accommodate me even though I showed up right at closing time. The first thing I noticed is how cozy and welcoming the place is. I would love to spend a few hours here relaxing in my own little world (... and I plan to one of these days!). There are many options for coffee, pastries etc. I ended up getting a triple espresso and coffee with a splash of whole milk. The barista was very quick and friendly. I also picked up a "Fueled by Zeke's" bumper sticker that are free for customers. Overall, I was impressed even though I really just ran in and out. I feel I may have found a place that I would love to hang out at when I need some caffeinate me time! I will definitely have to come back and see what more this place has to offer! read more

Friendly service and a nice drink selection! I love that they have oat milk and other dairy alternatives.

Great tasting coffee, nice little assortment of breakfast sandwiches & pastries. The staff is friendly and there's wifi. The bagel w/ Lox was delicious btw. I'd never been here before and had no idea this place was so close to my office. Parking out front can be tricky if it's busy out but daytime parking isn't bad and the seating inside fills up quickly during peak hours, but it's a nice little place with great coffee. read more

Really enjoy zekes coffee. The shop itself is cozy, with just enough grunge to keep it legit. The coffee is great. The breakfast is average, but does the trick to accompany the coffee. Mostly breakfast sandwiches and pastries. read more

The location, the space, WiFi, parking in the back: these are great features. We prefer the coffee from The Daily Grind or Vigilante coffee (that we buy in Fells Point). This is a question of taste of course. We also prefer to patronize neighborhood, smaller coffee shops, like Artifact, Bird in Hand, even Atwater, places where staff is trained to make "latte art" (this actually produces a better quality foam, so it's not just a question of design). Unfortunately big business like Zeke's and Starbucks are just minding the bottom line. But we wish Zeke's continued success, since the place is good for the neighborhood. read more

Prices are fair and reasonably cheap! Their coffee is smooth and rich in flavor with the options of unique flavor shots. I tried their Chicken Salad on a croissant with bacon and cheese. I was a little skeptical but it was sooooo much better than expected. Food here is amazing, breakfast or lunch. Very sweet staff read more

I like the coffee at Zeke's, all the drinks I've had are pretty solid at the coffee shop, friendly staff, although a little pricey...that being said, I ordered a coffee and a mocha from their truck at the Waverly Farmer's market today and I was very disappointed. The coffee was weak and watered down and the mocha was the same weak coffee with a spoonful of chocolate powder. It tasted awful. I finally gave up on drinking it and ended up tossing it. I do like Zeke's though and how they are a part of the Baltimore community. I hope they step up their game in the truck. read more

Love this cafe. Love the retail and buying coffee by the pound as gifts for friends and family. My only complaint is that it's not closer to my house. read more

I just moved to the Hamilton area and am so glad Zeke's is walking distance to my home. The ambience is casual, friendly, and draws a diverse clientele. Good for hanging out, and reading or working. It accommodates single-person guests to large groups. The baristas are friendly, timely, and good at what they do. I ordered a medium roast drip coffee, and a toasted sesame bagel with peanut butter. The coffee was excellent, and the pb to bagel ratio was right to my liking. It seems like the whole Hamilton-Lauraville community comes by, which makes it feel like you're really part of the community. I imagine that living close by and returning I'll see some familiar faces. That said, I see why baristas have good rapport with the customers. I'll be back! read more

So happy they finally added almond milk! Zeke's has now become a regular hangout for me and their new location is wonderful. Always treated so well by the friendly employees too! read more

I've been to Zeke's several times and the visits have always been mediocre to underwhelming. I haven't posted a review before because I like to see neighborhood businesses thrive and do well, we need them. I'm only posting this 2 star (should be a one star) review because after messaging Zeke's I received no response to the notice I sent about my messed up order. This last visit will be, well, my last visit. Overall I waited 20 minutes for my order and saw patron after patron that ordered after me get served before me. I ordered an Italian soda, coffee, lox bagel and cinnamon bun. About 10 minutes into waiting the cashier called my name to inform me they didn't have the flavor soda I ordered, ok, no big deal. Then we waited and waited some more. I went to stand back in line to ask the status of my order when it finally came out. We got in the car and drove away. Upon opening the bag we realized the cinnamon bun was down right frozen. Absolutely inedible. I can't believe they would give me a frozen bun rather than just ask me to substitute. Or at least humor me and stick it in the microwave. It was a poorly wrapped frozen puck. The salmon bagel had about two small slices of salmon. They have to serve it closed/bun style because if it were open faced they'd have to actually put a decent amount of salmon on it. Overall this place is run by friendly enough hipsters that have neighborhood and around-town friends that are frequent and loyal customers. I'd guess their following is largely due to the vibe and quality of friendship versus the quality of food. That's fine and all, but if you want quality food this isn't the place. I'll take Red Canoe, or drive the extra 5 mins to Belvedere Bagels and Grill or Dooby's in Mt. Vernon for breakfast instead. read more

Great spot. Really enjoyed the Chai Tea. I do recommend you get Almond milk. I was actually shocked when I noticed you didn't have any.

Great local coffee spot with plenty of natural lighting which I love. The coffee is so good even my coffee snob friends approve. They have bags of their coffee beans for sale in different varieties along with some t-shirts and other related coffee goods. The last time I was here my friend accidentally ordered me an iced tea when I asked for iced coffee and even that was good! I'm dying to try their breakfast options that I see people ordering all the time. The only thing that I've ordered here that wasn't 5 stars was a muffin and another pastry which I can't remember the name of. Instead of being moist and flaky both items were a little tough and crumbly which may have been because they had not been thawed out properly so I'm guessing their baked goods aren't fresh every morning. Not sure what the deal is with that, but totally willing to give it another go to redeem that experience. The space is small and quaint so it's hard for others not to unintentionally eavesdrop on your conversation, but I like the feel of the place. I would recommend coming at non-peak hours because this place gets packed frequently and seating is limited. Customer service has been great the last few times I visited. The girl taking orders was patient with us (I'm always the indecisive person making that last minute decision ugh). Parking is also a little tough but I usually always find a free spot on the side road adjacent to the building. Love it here!! read more

By far the best coffee roaster in Baltimore. I know this for a fact. As a gift for my husband, a huge coffee lover, I went to each local coffee roaster in Baltimore. I picked up a bag of coffee at each location and put together a Baltimore coffee sampler. (I'm a great wife!) None of the other roasters even came close! We've been drinking Zeke's for years. Even when we didn't live right down the street, we drank Zeke's. If fact, we MOVED to the neighborhood to be closer to Zeke's...ok, that part isn't true. Not only does ever roast taste amazing, but the bags make great gifts. Local Baltimore inspired names like Herring Run Roast and Bad Birds of Baltimore blend paired with great artwork make their coffee a no-brainer gift for anyone who loves The Greatest City in America. read more

I finally got to check out Zeke's Coffee's Cafe. I personally love Zeke's coffee because it has a bold flavor without being too bitter. Moreover, Zeke's Coffee is made right here in Baltimore and I love supporting local businesses. However, I have mixed feeling about their Cafe. Let's start with my breakfast sandwich. I got a smoked salmon, egg and cheese sandwich, but I opted out of the cheese. I was very disappointed that they used McDonald's style egg and not freshly scramble ones. Also, as you can see they were a little l light on the salmon portions too. I have no complaints about the croissant that the used. I also got a Strawberry muffin, that was very good. I love the aesthetic of the cafe, it's modern but industrial at the same time. It's a lot bigger than I was expecting too! The staff was very cool, but my order was completely right when I got it. Honestly, I think they are severely understaffed. There same guy that took my order made me food and while he was taking my order someone interrupted it because there was a problem with their food. They need at least two more people working there, one to strictly take orders and one to clean the tables after people leave. Nearly all the empty tables were dirty which is never cool. I took a picture of the one I sat at while I was waiting for my food. However, even with my issues I will definitely go back again because I love their coffee and they have some great pastries, but I think they can do a little better. read more

For all the coffee lover Zekes is a Baltimore gem be sure to check it out. It's a very lovely cafe and the coffee and snacks are always great. read more

I love the everything bagel sandwiches here and the enormous amount of seating. The outdoor patio out front is really cute too. They sell pretty much all of their roasts and you get a free cup of coffee with every bag you buy. My favorite roast is Mexican Chiapas. There is a full cafe menu and also a good selection of pastries. It's not in the least bit pretentious like a lot of other high quality coffee shops. read more

Good selection and quality of espresso drinks. Nice layout of the store-very spacious. One of the best coffee spots in the area hands down. Prices are a bit higher than Starbucks. Their WiFi is very slow though. read more

Love the coffee and artsy atmosphere- the staff is always super nice. My son loves the hot chocolate and they adjust the temperature if it's for a child. He also gets excited to pick a pastry and than point out which art piece he likes better on the wall. read more

Zekes has always been great. The new location is much larger with the same great service. The Chef from now closed Tooloulou is working here. That's why the food is great. Also, they just finished installing Electric Vehicle charging in the back lot. Two level 2 chargers. Help support a great local business. read more

Zekes Coffee - Life - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Baltimore, Maryland

When I moved to NE Baltimore, I was really excited to have such a popular local business waking distance from my house. However, Zeke's has unfortunately been a constant disappointment. Under baked pastriess are microwaved within an inch of their life and overpackaged to go (not every pastry needs a single use clam shell, and I'm consistently asked if two croissants are allowed to go in the same full sized sandwich bag). Then there's the coffee itself. It's weak - even the darkest roasts need to be over portioned at home and it's not better when I order on site. Other coffee drinks, even ordered extra hot are served tepid. I have had some enjoyable breakfast specials there in the last year, but I'm afraid it's just time to break up. read more

Love their coffee, but had the absolute worst blueberry muffin in the history of muffins...or blueberries for that matter. It was comically bad. Not sure if they make the muffins in house or have them delivered, either way, the muffin was dense and impossible to chew, flavorless and bizarrely crumbly for how dense it was. Ended up with no breakfast after this disappointing grab and go. read more

This is the second time in a couple months that I've ordered the Everything Bagel with Lox (at an expensive $9 a pop), and they conveniently always forget to add the lox. One has to wonder if this is by design, some sort of scam maybe. The trashcan AND the recycling bin next to the coffee station, as well as the bus pan are overflowing and disgusting. My table was shimmied with trash, and there was more trash accompanying it right next to my feet. I saw several employees walking by the trash, shoving more stuff into it; one was having a personal conversation the whole time I dined instead of cleaning up the place. The coffee is watered down and burnt tasting. Funny considering I've had Zeke's coffee at the donut shop and it was delicious there. Will not be returning to this overpriced trash hut. read more

Zekes coffee is pretty good, however after trying various baked goods on numerous occasions I am sorry say that they are incompetent bakers. Their pastries are often old and dry. This is unacceptable, selling old pastries is a big no in my book. On one occasion my muffin still had chucks of uncooked flour in it. I happen to also work in a cafe and live with a professional baker, so it is possible I just have high standards. I hope you take my suggestions seriously because I know others who feel this way about your baked good as well. read more

By far the best place to get coffee in Baltimore. The coffee is great. My favorite has been the Baseball Blend. I also like the Market Blend. The first time I visited Zeke's, I looked like a fish out of water. But Thomas came over, introduced himself, and I ended up getting a personal tour of the coffee roasting process in the back. And that is another great thing about Zeke's: customer service. The people working there are personable and kind. If you go enough times, you start getting to know the folks beyond the "the weather is nice/bad today" conversation starters. Lastly, it is a good spot to do work or meet people. The WiFi is consistently excellent, with little to no disruptions. You have options of small tables in the front or work group tables in the back. I forgot: they know how to make a great PB&J! This is my go-to spot in Baltimore! read more

Wonderful atmosphere. Staff was helpful in deciding what blend of coffee to choose & bakery items were outstanding

Literally walked in all smiles as I have not been here in a few years, and stood at the counter for 5 minutes (I set a timer after 2 mins) and NO ONE spoke to me. Two women and one male in the back standing and talking @ 8:26am with clearly a regular customer and I didn't even get a Good Morning. Nothing. With my cash in hand, I turned around sadly and walked out. I don't care how your coffee or options may taste, if you want to pretend to be a neighborhood coffee shop yet can't say hello to people IN your neighborhood, I rather give my money to Starbucks which is where I'm now headed to. read more

LOVE THIS PLACE !!! Amazing coffee - I get the large hot light roast with room every time. Everyone is so nice and welcoming and I love having this so close to home. Their breakfast sandwiches are bomb too, the sausage egg and cheddar on a croissant is HUGE and sooo good. Highly recommend this place, particularly if you are hosting visitors. Visited Baltimore for the first time and Zeke's Coffee was being served in the small cafe in our hotel. The coffee was great and we did a little research to see where we could get some to take home. We went out of our way to visit the actual coffee shop, and it was well worth the trip! Great coffee, great food, and a nice selection of coffee to take home. Bought the Z-cups to take home with us and those were great too. Only con is that it seemed like the staff was annoyed with us since we had some questions while ordering and weren't from around there. It seemed like they we're a lot nicer to you if you were a regular. We also went on a Sunday morning, so the place was crowded but cleared out fairly quickly after the breakfast rush. read more

Zeke's is Amazing Definitely one of My All-time favorite Places in Baltimore M.D. You Guys are Great!!!!!

Great place in Hamilton to grab the best cup of joe in the city. They roast their own coffee and have different varieties from all around the world; you'll be amazed at how different a cup of coffee can taste from different roasts, origins and drying processes. And the employees truly know their stuff and are passionate about helping you discover new kinds of coffee and your next favorite. They have truly ruined coffee for us; we can't look at a run of the mill coffee the same way, we gotta have Zeke's! read more

Cappuccino and hot chocolate were great. Nice atmosphere. Would go back for the drinks and the pastries.

Zeke's coffee is our favorite local coffee, and we're so happy to get to support a local business instead of just a big chain. I really love the details of their shop, with great options for natural sweeteners and non-dairy preferences in the fixings area. They have tastings for Kopi Luwak occasionally, and other coffee tastings, and all of the staff we've talked to about any questions are always super knowledgeable and proud of their products. It's a truly positive environment to get a cup or pound of coffee, and we're happy to visit them here and at the Waverly Farmers Market (Saturdays) and downtown Farmers Market (Sundays). read more
