Shout out to this business. They didnt even know what I had previously went to and they don't know that they came to the rescue. My friend and I had plans for a granddaughters that fell thru for a tea event. I called this business right after they opened on Sunday morning trying to make last minute reservations. They don't normally do same day reservations but, we were blessed because they accepted reservations for 4. Our little ladies were so excited to go to the tea spot. We were all tea party dressed and ready. We entered and was greeted with smiles. Not only the staff but, also others that were dining complimented us on our attire. It's not a very large place. But, it was just enough. Nothing fancy but, we all had a great experience. We started with 4 different teas. I remember peach, blueberry, mint and I can't remember the last one. We enjoyed them all. My favorite was the blueberry. Nothing was rushed. It was a little busy for them so the food was a little slow coming out but, we didn't mind. Remember they accommodated us and we were patient with no complaints. We started with the sandwich tier, then the scones their and last the dessert their. The girls were just tickled. They even received a marshmallow treat and a gold balloon that I forgot to snap a photo. Great experience and I would return. read more

I thought I had written a review but I guess not! I loveddddd this little spot. I'm still thinking about their tea sandwiches and I came here a few months ago. The prices were affordable and the teas were good. The mugs and plates were pretty old a bit chopped up so I was worried about that. They're also veryyyy stained. Other than that, the service was great and my time spent there was peaceful. It wasn't too busy and I was able to work. They had a few outlets against the wall. I did the High Tea for $30 pp it came with everything you see in the pictures. I got to choose the Sarnies (sandwiches) I wanted. I got the Egg and Cress which was delightful!!! Overall I'll be back! I visited Emma's for my first time today and had a lovely experience! I did not have a reservation, but was welcomed to sit in the dining room with my to-go order. I had the cranberry chai scone with season fruit which was apple and pear, and served with clotted cream and jam. The owner took my order and she was so lovely and helped me refine my order to get the most for my money. She was quick to accommodate my friends and myself since we came for the Mystical Magical Market hosted in the parking lot of Emma's. We were able to use an open table for our carry out order and sit and enjoy ourselves without feeling rushed. My scone was freshly baked, tasted delicious and had just the right amount of crumb and tenderness. The chai was delicious as well. It was so refreshing to receive actual seasonal fruit with my meal. The thinly sliced pear and apple really rounded out the plate and added to our festive mood! Thanks for a lovely first visit, we will return. read more

Came here for a Sunday tea party. The place was actually packed. It's self seating, but they do take reservations. You have to place your order at the counter and they'll bring your food to you. The selection isn't too extensive, basically sandwiches scones, and fruit. The sarnie was surprisingly delicious ( I wasn't sure I'd like it) and the scone was soft and pretty tasty as well. I appreciate that they also have a kids menu which made my dining companion very happy. I was also happy to see they do have some breakfast sandwiches if you're in the mood for breakfast and not a regular sandwich. Will I be back, maybe. There wasn't anything that made me feel like I had to come back, but it is a good place to have a brunch or dining outing that's different. read more

My girlfriend and I went to the Mad Hatter's karaoke tea party for our first visit to Emma's Tea Spot. On the online reservation form, there was space to indicate any dietary concerns as well as an open space to add additional details if necessary, so we mentioned that we were celebrating our anniversary. When we arrived, we were greeted by the hosts--Emma, who runs the tea shop, and Benjamin, who runs the karaoke. They were both incredibly welcoming, and congratulated us on our anniversary as soon as we checked in. Emma showed us to a lovely spread of croissant sandwiches, petit fours, sangria, and a DIY hot tea station, as well as informing us that we could just ask for anything else we needed. A few of the tables and chairs were a bit close together, so going back and forth between the food and your table could be a bit awkward at times, but it wasn't too bad. Everything we ate and drank was delicious, but the crab croissant was the highlight for both of us. The building itself looks a bit like an old-school diner with checkerboard tile, display cases of cakes, and a checkout counter. It's also stuffed full of giftables like candles, soap, and of course teacups. On the evening we went, local artist Gray of Pop! Baltimore was also selling some of their items at a table in the back. Overall, Emma's Tea Spot felt like a hidden gem with a lovely community atmosphere both from the hosts and other guests. We didn't know what to expect, especially having driven from 1.5 hours away! We had an amazing evening of karaoke with great food and company, and it was well worth the price of admission. Although it's not a drive we can make all the time, we'd definitely like to come back again. read more

Went here with a friend and I was not impressed. The location is sketchy, the inside doesn't look very clean or high tea-esque. They have a display case when you walk in that made me feel like I was walking into a deli. I don't like that you can't get a variety of sandwiches, you have to order one that they'll cut into 4 small pieces for you. The one thing I appreciated was that they have a little market on the side of the dining for people to shop for different British items and snacks. I wonder how much is actually purchased, I can't imagine it being very popular, so a lot is probably old or close to expiring, but it was neat to browse around. I also liked that they cover your tea pot with knitted tea sweater. I thought that was cute. But I would definitely not go here again for an afternoon tea experience. I've been to four tea places now and this was definitely the worst and most disorganized. I know they are a more "casual take on high tea" but this was just not my vibe at all. We ordered at the register, which was very atypical for tea. Its actually much smaller than other tea places I have been to. Its almost like a cafe that serves tea and traditional tea food, which wasn't that great. The server seemed pretty clueless and wasn't that great at confidently answering questions. I wanted to make a reservation for Galentines day and did so in advance. The customer service regarding follow up before the date of the reservation also wasn't A+. Had to update my review for Emma's after my third or fourth visit. I love that Emma's is so understated and charming compared to other places offering high tea. Is it just me or has every other high tea I've ever been to been like $100 per person and super bougie but with mediocre tea trays? Emma's isn't like that. It's casual and cozy and approachable and affordable. And yet still super English. Ploughman's Platter? They have it. Cheese and pickle sandwich (or "sarnie")(made with Branston pickle - not pickles - just FYI if you haven't had it before)? They have it. Bangers? They've got 'em. Toasties? Yep. Scones, Victoria sponge, strawberries and cream (seasonally)? Yep, yep, yep. All the classic tea choices. They offer several set menu tea options with different things included and different prices. They even offer a mini me high tea for kids. The last several times I've been I've had the tea & sarnie with the cheese & pickle sandwich and a pot of either China Breakfast or Jasmine or Earl Grey. I couldn't love their cheese & pickle sandwich more. It may not be for everyone but I love Branston pickle and their sandwich could not be more simple or satisfying. The service is great, and they have a little shop in the back where they sell some British goods, including jars of Branston pickle. And it's cute without being kitschy, tea without being fussy. For Christmas I got a Groupon gift for High Tea for three. My request was experiences for Christmas gifts. Emma's Tea Spot is a high tea British experience. They are located in Baltimore, MD. The location is a bit sketchy but I am not sure if the business can really help that. Upon walking in, we went to the counter to let them know we had a reservation. We were told which table to sit at, given menus and told each get to choose a tea and a sarnie choice. The remainder of items like scones and dessert were "chefs choice" so we didn't have choice in that. I had asked if the desserts had any tree nuts cause my daughter is allergic. I believe I noted that in the reservation as well. They let me know it there wasn't any items with nuts. Great!! Once our table decided on the items, we went to back to the counter and placed our order. There were maybe about two other tables with people there so not crowded. While waiting, we looked at the extra snacks and candy you could purchase. My daughter got some chocolate and her friend got prawn chips. When purchasing them, I asked if I could leave a tip as well. I was informed that cash is preference which I wish I knew before hand. I gave all the cash I had for tip. Here are the sarnies and tea we ordered and our rating for each: -Cucumber Sarnie- classic sandwich & great flavor! -Egg & cress Sarnie- good! Love the microgreens! -Tuna & cucumber Sarnie-my favorite! I could have had another!!! -China Breakfast black Tea - good! -Tangerine & Ginger Tea - holy ginger!! Very strong for my taste, but it's pink!!! -Peach Blossom -fragrant & light - Scones: The sweet scone was the best! There was a pistachio with strawberry topped scone which my daughter couldn't eat cause she allergic. I tried it and it was ok. The desserts were meh. The girls ate them though. A cute no frills tea place in the Hamilton / Bel Air neighborhood and such a special place in the city. Authentically British and costs $20 for a pot of tea and savory sandwiches. I first came here in 2022 and just went back and I forgot how much I loved it. It's quite spacious inside so it's good for groups and couples alike. There is a small store in the inside where you can get British goods. The service is order at the counter and they bring you water (most recently they gave us giant copper mugs which is so perfect for me as I drink a lot of water). The owner was there the first time we went and she was lovely. I've done high teas in NYC and this is a far better experience. I've tried the onion and cheese toastie and the horseradish and beef toasties. They're both good but the onion and cheese is memorable. Very classic and something you don't find too often. I remember going to Emma's Tea Spot 4 years ago and liking it so I came back with a friend who wanted to try it. I don't think I will return anytime soon because while the food was pretty good, the format and service is a little wonky. Emma's has a rugged take on high tea which is totally fine. I like the mismatched China and the cozy feel of the place. I really like that there is parking for customers, and the service is really nice. But you order at the counter, and no one checks on you, so if you need anything, you have to go back to the counter. The sandwiches we had were really good (salmon and coronation) but you only get one each per high tea (cut into 4 triangles so you can share) but I thought I would get 4 DIFFERENT triangles of sandwiches. The scones were also delicious, but I had to ask for butter and they gave us about a teaspoon worth of clotted cream and jam for 2 scones (1 sweet and 1 savory so we did not get our own). The top tiers, the desserts, didn't feel thought out and seemed like store bought sweets that were too sweet. Also, it took half an hour for them to tell me the tea I selected was out. Overall, not the best experience and some changes need to be made to enhance the high tea experience. read more

Solid 3.5 I made a reservation for two at a cute Tea Spot I saw featured on Groupon. There is limited but free parking at the back of the restaurant, which is convenient. The tea service included a choice of tea, a sandwich, and the chef's selection of scones or sweets. One nice touch was the handwritten reservation card with your name and the number of guests. However, I noticed a few downsides during my visit. First, the table was sticky, which wasn't very pleasant. Second, the tea was weak and lukewarm, which was disappointing. I suggest bringing out a fresh tea cup because the place settings were already on the table. While I understand the need to plan, I wonder how long the teacup had been out, especially with no napkin covering the rim. read more

Emma, the owner, reached out to me right away after my inquiry and was incredibly kind and accommodating in helping me plan everything I was looking for. This was for a joint birthday party, and it was a huge hit. Everyone loved the tea, sandwiches, scones, desserts--and especially the quiches. They were eaten so quickly we didn't even get a picture! The food was absolutely amazing, with every detail thoughtfully done, right down to the clotted cream and jams. Emma even delivered everything to my home, which made the experience completely stress-free. As an afternoon tea aficionado, I always seek out local tea services when I'm visiting a new city. If you're looking for a more formal experience, this isn't it. However, Emma's gets points for warm service, an affordable price point, adorable tea cozies, and plentiful tea options. The food portion was a bit of a letdown. Our party of three agreed that the sandwiches were fine, the scones were tasty bread products but not scone-like in texture, and the sweets were across-the-board disappointing. The workers were graciously accommodating of one of my friend's anti-cheese stance, so I definitely appreciated that. It had been awhile since I had been back to Emma's. I always had a good experience but this morning there were no scones in the case in fact there was nothing in the case and it was 10:30. So that was disappointing there was one scone that just came out of the oven. I bought the only one available. It didn't taste like a scone at all.. was not fluffy it was a little burnt it was like a biscuit not a scone. Supposed to have been raisin and white chocolate . There were matbe 8.small.raisins and i never really tasted.the white chocolate. I don't know what's going on there but little disappointed. Didn't help the server was hacking and coughing. This was my first time at Emma's Tea Spot and I had went with a friend who recommended the place. Based off the inside, it seemed quaint and laidback. We had gotten the Queen Bee Tea which comes with choice of tea, house made soup, sandwich, scone, fruit, tarts and little cakes. Everything was delicious especially the tarts, Sammie's and tea ! We had gotten the Jade Cloud tea which had a really nice taste to it. Our server even gave us a little discount and helped with recommendations of what to get. Our dinners were supposed to cost $35 each. But that didn't include sandwiches and tea, without which the meal was nothing, and which boosted the cost to $45 each. (My 2 daughters, granddaughter and wife, with whom I ate, do not share my opinion.) My four small pieces of tuna sandwich were NG. The tea was tea. Then there were a few tiny morsels, mainly so-called scones, on a tray pyramid. The gave a very skimpy amount of jam to put on the soft scones. We selected the Queen Bee tea which comes with a pot of tea, one sandwich and the chef's selection of scones and pastries. Our scones were currant and cheddar with chive. Two of us came here this past Saturday at around 12:30pm for lunch. I wanted to make reservations, but Emma's Tea Spot only accepts reservations for High Tea. When we got there, half of the tables were empty but we were told there were no seats left-- they had all been reserved. Sadly, we ordered our sandwiches to go. It took about 15 minutes to get our food and we went back to our house to have lunch. The curried chicken sandwich I had ordered was fine. It came with a bag of chips, all for $12.50. The sandwich was tiny, more like a half-sandwich. Just visiting Emma's Spot, I now see that it's primary purpose is tea parties. They are really not interested in being a drop-in lunch spot. I came in on a Sunday morning for some tea to go and a little bit of breakfast in the form of a pastry. There was a large party seated and 2 medium parties. It was pretty loud in there and my first time coming in. There were 3 people seemingly staffed and it took 20 minutes to get my tea to go with my scone. The more disappointing part is that my tea to go was made with Twinnings vs loose leaf tea. It looks like it's best to come in if you're doing a high tea session but with the staff being so overwhelmed and running behind on tickets for the tables seated, it wasn't worth coming in just for a quick takeout order. I also did get some loose leaf tea to take home with me and I'm hoping that it tastes good because it smelled good. The staff was nice and apologetic for it taking so long, and I appreciated that, but I don't see myself coming back. read more

A friend of mine invited me to this spot because she had a groupon and we hadn't had a girl's day in some time. I was super excited to go because I absolutely love cafes and tea sets. It was....underwhelming. When I was driving to the location, I found it incredibly difficult to find the entrance. If it were not for my friend, I would have driven right by it and not known. I ended up turning around in the middle of an intersection to get to the parking. It was certainly a....rustic....parking spot with limited spaces, most of which were filled up already. The walk to the business was short so that wasn't a problem. The place is small but very adorable. I did very much like the interior of the business but I will say there was a tad too much clutter. It was like they put a hodge-podge of items on display simply because it said "made in Britain". The items are cute by themselves but together I was a bit confused. The food was fine. It was kind of on the bland side. Nothing spectacular. I did feel that the portions were small for what you were paying as well. The really aren't any vegan options. You can ask for something if you really want to but don't expect much. All in all, it's fine. If you are going for the quirky vibes more than anything, you will have a good time. I came here today with a friend of mine and honestly, everything was pretty terrible. We made a reservation and when we were sat, we were told that we had to order at the register. Okay, that's fine, but when we went up to order, we had to pre-pay for our food and tip. Again, that would have been okay (still really strange because who pre-pays for a meal and a tip) if we had any real customer service, but I regret leaving a 20% tip because no one ever checked in on us. For high tea, you can only get one sandwich instead of a mix of sandwiches like other tea shops. My friend and I wanted to try a couple of different sandwiches, so I ordered a cucumber sandwich and she tried to order the egg and watercress sandwich. They were out of egg and watercress so she ordered a smoke salmon sandwich. Eventually, our tray of food came out , but not our teas. When we asked, our server said the tea would be out shortly. Some time passed and we still did not get our tea. I went to ask a staff member about our tea and he didn't seem to know. My friend then asked another staff member about our tea and she yelled to the back staff that our table never received our tea and to send it out immediately. It was super awkward and unprofessional to have her yell that to the staff in front of the whole restaurant. Our tea came out almost immediately after that. I only drank two sips of my tea because at that point it had been sitting out for a while and was no longer hot. In addition, they only have sugar and honey for their tea, and no artificial sweetener, which was really strange. What if someone is a diabetic and they need artificial sweetener? Personally, I only like artificial sweeteners so with the tea being lukewarm and having no way to sweeten my tea, I just didn't drink it. in addition, the scones were burnt and tasted terrible. They also only give you a tiny amount of clotted cream and jam, which wasn't enough for one scone, let alone two. The desserts were mediocre at best. At no point did anyone even check on us to see if we were okay. The food was mediocre and the customer service was terrible. Honestly, the best part of the meal were the apple slices. There are a number of good tea shops in Maryland but this is not one of them. Basically, I paid $40 for a cucumber sandwich and a few apple slices. It was definitely not worth the money! read more

We picked up a Groupon for this place because we felt like having a little tea. It is a corner spot that reminds you of a store front. They have a few gifts that you can pick up. Service was good, the tea tray was average, the sandwiches were a little on fillings and taste. When we first arrived the staff were very friendly and explained the process. We didn't have a reservation but lucked out because someone else had cancelled. I would recommend getting one if you can though, as it was relatively full. I can't say I'm a big fan of the food typically included in a high tea. My wife enjoyed it, which was the point, so I think if this is your thing, you will to. For me, the highlight of the meal was the scones. They we some of the best I have ever had. Fresh, crumbly, delicious! One last thing to add... it isn't uncommon to have sub par experiences at good places when you use a Groupon, so I sometimes get nervous about dining on one, but so there were no issues at all. I want to like Emma's, however I have serious beef with this place. One would think a place that serves tea would be an awesome place to stop by in the morning to have a nice warm beverage of high quality- except it's not that kind of place. Apparently they only serve high tea, which is honestly disappointing. You need to have a reservation or they can't serve you. The staff seem overwhelmed and unfriendly. The prices are ridiculous. Their upcoming winter solstice tea, which consists of soup, sandwich, and tea is $60 per person. I think this shop is out of touch with what customers want. High tea on the weekend or a special occasion is nice, but honestly it would be nicer to be able to drop in for a drink and a pastry to go. read more

My good friend invited us out for high tea. I was so excited, never been to high tea. We all dressed up and went to Emma's The Spot. This is the cutest place I ever seen. The warmth inside the shop took my mind off the cold that was waiting for us outside. We got blueberry rooibos tea, orange and peach blossom tea. That blueberry and peach blossom was divine. The scones were great with the strawberry and orange spread. We ordered additional ham sandwiches, but honestly just the sandwiches that were on the tier were better.
