It's on the site of one of the Carroll mansions and close to the flag house. Lots of history to consume. There is also lodging on site. And a courtyard for weddings right off S Front St. This is where the ceremony was held. The catering venue consists of four floors. Elevators are available for those needing it. The cocktail hour was held on the second floor under the City Lights. Dinner on the fourth. Wall murals all about Baltimore! Easy access via elevator or stairs. The food and beverage business at 1840's Plaza is exclusive to Rouge Catering of Hunt Valley. Exceptional team of professionals and food! Many shy away from evenings in town. Most of the time I can't blame them. But 1840's Plaza is well worth considering if you're planning a family or business event. Even if the fire alarm mysteriously goes off!

Upstairs cut out with drink trays alike the railing so you can look down on the stage. A lot like Union transfer but smaller. Sound system is really great. I'd love to see a band here. The building itself is brick, like an old factory. Inside it has exposed brick and high ceilings that are also exposed. There were three areas distinct areas in the venue that were separated either by the layout or sliding doors. The first room we entered into had a bar on one wall and some small round tables up against the aforementioned sliding doors. This is where drinks were served as well as snacks (post ceremony). The second room, which was around a big corner (keeping it separated from the bar section) was where the wedding itself was held. This room was a essentially a large open area with big windows looking out into the city. It easily accommodated the 140+ wedding attendees and could've held more. Bonus points for being able to see the Ravens stadium right out the window. Not so bonus, the train tracks which had a train go through during the ceremony. The third room was where the reception was held. This was the room that was closed off by sliding doors when we arrived. There were two levels in here, the DJ was set up on the stairwell landing. The dancefloor was decently sized with tables situated around the outside of it and other tables on the upper level. For the venue being an old factory, I thought the acoustics were good. Overall, I really enjoyed my experience at The Winslow as a guest.

I had the vegetarian option that consist of veggies in a quiche type thing, some pasta and two asparagus pieces. They provide a roll and butter for each person as well. Stopped in to grab a bite after a friend called and asked me to take her to get her meds from the Walmart at Carroll Island. My friends car broke down and is having some family issues that she wanted to talk to me about. I am 71yrs of age and my friend is in her 50's so we were not going to be out long. we were told the kitchen was closing down it was a little after 7 at his point, I asked the woman working behind the bar if they still had shrimp salad and she said yes so we ordered our shrimp salad and a beer. my friend ordered us another beer and the woman said last call we said ok and I asked for the check so as soon as we finished we could leave. The woman said no she was busy and would come back when she was finished cleaning. Then a large man came up behind us and said we needed to leave because he wanted to go home. It is not always what you say but how you say it. Please look at the camera and you will see he came up behind us and had was touching my shoulder like we were buddies. Well we are not buddies and he was so rude that I will be there tomorrow to talk with the Commander, this gentleman very loudly told me his name was Phil and he is the ex-Commander. I told him my husbands name is Phil and he mocked me saying Phil over and over again. I proceeded to tell him well I know why you are the ex-Commander. When the woman behind the bar tried to tell him she has taken care of us he told her NO I AM TAKING CARE OF THIS. I have no idea who took away this man's clipboard but he needs to lower his voice stop touching people he does not know and maybe take a seminar on how to deal with the public. Now the real reason I am hot about this is my husband was wounded in Vietnam and received the purple heart, our son is also a wounded Vet. who served in Iraq and Afghanistan with the 82nd Airborne, he had surgery and stayed at Walter Reed. So if this is the way you at the VFW treat Vets. and their families we still have a long way to go. A simple hey ladies, it's almost closing time NOT the hrs are posted on the door. Seriously this man did not make your post look welcoming. To be truthful I stop in time to time when I go to Richardson's there are about 4 guys who are there most of the time, we talk, laugh and it feels good to buy someone a beer and laugh a bit. Not knowing this man he may have had one to many but that is no reason to get loud and berate your customers and extended Military family. Thank you for letting me vent. Still not over how my husband and so many other were treated after coming home.
