One ongoing perk we will surely take advantage of is the lifetime VIB discount at the Owl Bar! Incredibly professional and an organization that really knows what they are doing. Would love to do it all over again! The 13th floor is now only open for private events but I say it's a perfect opportunity to host an amazing party!

A NIGHTMARE for What Should've Been a Joyous Occassion…read more I hosted my 30th birthday brunch at The Belvedere, the overall experience was deeply disappointing and frustrating. The food was served cold I, the guest of honor, received my meal last. The service staff was disorganized and unprofessional: drinks were served in glasses with visible mold, a guest was spilled on with syrup, place cards were ignored. (Which I had to MAKE MYSELF to add) After submitting a detailed formal complaint, their response was both disappointing and dismissive. They blamed the cold food and disorganized service on my late arrival -- which, while true, does not excuse the breakdown in execution. The original schedule was for starters to be served at 12:45 and entrées at 1:10. Due to my delay, starters were served at 1:20 -- only 35 minutes off -- yet entrées didn't arrive until 2:30, nearly an hour later. Even with the slight delay in the start, the kitchen had ample time to follow the adjusted timeline. Their excuse was that the food was ready at 12:45 -- but if that's the case, why was it not served until nearly two hours later, after we'd already finished starters by 1:45? Rather than take any accountability for the cold meals, lack of coordination, and overall poor service, they deflected blame and offered no refund, no accommodation, and no solutions. At first they offered to sit down with us & the team to discuss further. But once we added we wanted to bring statements from guest to eliminate the "he said, she said"at the advice of an attorney, they stopped communicating with us entirely. After we pleaded with them that we were not seeking council or legal action they still never responded. The lack of professionalism and unwillingness to make things right only deepened the disappointment. This was supposed to be a joyful milestone event, and instead it became a source of stress and embarrassment. I do not recommend The Belvedere for any event unless you want terrible service, communication, and professionalism. If you stayed this far the venue was beautiful. But at what cost? Not the amount of money, time & effort put into this day to just be silenced and not considered at all.

After dinner, our member friend took us on a tour of the mansion. It was great seeing the different rooms. This place was huge and the architecture was really beautiful. The Engineer's Club is located in the Garrett-Jacobs Mansion in Mount Vernon. It's the city's oldest private social club, but it hosts events and weddings in addition to serving its membership functions. It was an absolutely stunning venue for an opera. The staircase, the wood, the stage...! If you love architecture, you just have to see it for yourself (may in combination with that other gorgeous building just down the street - you know the one!). Definitely adding it to my list of Baltimore's most beautiful buildings. If you have a chance, don't hesitate to visit for a performance or event. I know I'll be back for another opera next season. They also offer tours, which I am adding to my must do in Baltimore list!

For a state known for its crab, there was barely any crab meat to speak of. My husband fared better with his fried Brussels sprouts starter, which he really enjoyed, and his pork chop entree was solid. I ordered the wahoo fish special as my main, but it was so dry I couldn't get through it and had to send it back. I replaced it with a shrimp Caesar salad, which was fine but completely unremarkable. Our server was genuinely lovely and attentive, though drink refills were frustratingly slow throughout the meal. It seemed like a bar bottleneck rather than anything on her end, but it did affect the overall experience. The biggest sticking point is the price. For the quality of food we received, the menu feels overpriced. The cocktails were a bright spot, but the kitchen needs to catch up to justify what you're paying.

We first toured this venue in June of 2015 and met with Kathy Peck from the Sales Team. Kathy was highly knowledgeable and very patient as she addressed each and every question that we had. During our tour, we were blown away by the classic architecture and how well maintained the facility was considering it's age. The venue was stunning and it was quickly obvious to us that The Grand was truly an appropriate name for this stunning building. The Corinthian Ballroom showcased 30'+ ceilings, walls covered in rich marble and marble pillars throughout. My jaw dropped as we entered and I'll never forget the feeling of "this is it". We wanted to be very thorough in our venue search and entertained many meetings with countless venues in the area. Ultimately, the all-inclusive wedding package paired with a stunning location that would allow us the convenience of the ceremony and reception in one building and their reputation for state of the art catering is why we chose to move forward. In the months following, our wedding planners, Joie Events, became directly involved in managing the relationship with The Grand and we were assigned to Diane Abrahams as our Wedding Coordinator. Diane was the consummate professional. She possessed an exceptional attention to detail and showed us the highest level of commitment and attentiveness throughout our time working with her. Diane was incredibly responsive and showed a tremendous amount of flexibility when working around our demanding schedules. I admired Diane's passion for her work and her pride in the Venue. It was obvious to us that she truly valued the Staff and spoke incredibly highly of her peers every opportunity that she had. Throughout the process my Husband and I introduced some "out of the box" requests, Diane was always quick to accommodate us whenever possible and customized our package to fit our needs. It was during our tasting, that we became aware of how exceptional the food would be. We were truly amazed by the feast prepared for us and by how important it was to the Chef, the he created the meal of our dreams, for our special day. We walked away selecting a customized dish, the petite filet and crab stuffed shrimp with a lobster sauce. We were so confident in our selection and knew that our guests would love it as much as we did. In the week leading up to the wedding, Diane requested a meeting with our Wedding Planners and us to finalize all of the wedding details and ensure that every detail would be perfect. In attendance, was the Manager in charge of Guest Services, the Manager in charge of Catering and even the Engineer who would be responsible for climate control. We walked away feeling 100% reassured that the Team at The Grand was absolutely on top of it and were fully prepared to execute our day flawlessly. The day of is the reason 5 Stars are truly justified. As impressed as we had been with Diane, we quickly realized, that her team was a direct reflection of her. They also possessed an exceptional attention to detail, the highest level of professionalism and commitment to our day. Every staff member that I had the pleasure of interacting with was incredibly friendly, personable and genuinely happy to be working our wedding. The food was as exceptional, if not more so then it was during our tasting. As we walked around the ballroom greeting our guests, we saw evidence of cleanly scraped plates. I figured the best way to help him was to get first hand experience of the tour, so I booked a Friday afternoon tour for my team. Can I just say what an awesome time we had? We are all fairly local folks but we learned so much and ate amazing food. I appreciate the level of service Zachary provided including helping to fit this in my budget. All communication was prompt and easy to understand. The payment process was simple. Instructions for where to meet and questions about food allergies or other issues were appreciated. Even in the rain, this was just so much fun. We started at the Maryland Center for History and Culture. As a museum junkie, I loved that we started with a quick tour through Baltimore history! And we got to pop into the Jim Henson exhibit. They have the Labyrinth Dress!! After that we started walking. Did you know the Ouija board was created in Baltimore?? I did not. We walked into the Enoch Pratt Library and poked our head into the Peabody. And we did a quick tour of the Washington Monument. I did not know you could go inside it for free. The food part was even better! Started at Tio Pepe's which was delicious and such a cool building. After more walking we stopped that Helmund for more food. The night of the rehearsal no one was there to assist or turn in the lights and it was a very dark and rainy night. Very dangerous for walking. The day of the wedding, it seemed that the staff only wanted us gone. They were cleaning up the rooms before the wedding was over. The lead coordinator of the day had our caterer in tears because they told her that I would be docked money due to her not cleaning the kitchen right. As it turned out we did get the entire security deposit back but if I had to do it over, and based on what I know now, I would not contract with them.
