The cream of crab soup was exceptional: It possessed a desirable thin consistency, avoiding the heavy, pudding-like texture sometimes encountered. The portion of crab meat was generous. The flavor profile was exquisite. The quality of the draft beer indicated meticulous maintenance of the beer lines. The brownie sundae was satisfactory. Areas for Improvement (Negative Observations): My filet mignon was served with noticeably burnt edges. This was only discovered late in the meal, as the service up to that point had been ideal. I love dry martinis. Dry towels. Dry senses of humor, even. What I don't love is dry fish. My grouper had the makings of a fine dish. The flavor. The texture of the couscous. The crunchy onion straws. Then I bit into the white, flaky meat, hopeful it would match the caliber of its accompaniments. I was sadly mistaken. To avoid reaching for my dad to give me the Heimlich, I gulped water to get it down. Considering fish comes from water, it's quite a trick to make it taste like kindling. If you're going to serve your patrons dry fish and make them sweat to death in your hot dining room while they wait for refills, kindly put a carafe of water on each table. Or let them wear CamelBaks. Our waitress was clearly overworked. She was managing about 20 tables, making it hard to get more water--or anything, really. At least put man bun to work and have him ask customers if they need anything. Like water. If it were socially acceptable for me to wring my shirt into my glass, I would have. I didn't want to embarrass my father, so I refrained. I swore I wouldn't rip any more restaurants, but no one asked why I left three-quarters of my fish on the plate. Not the overworked waitress. Not the manager, who walked past our table half a dozen times, intentionally dodging eye contact. If they had, I would have told them the truth. Frankly, I think they already knew. So here we are. Was driving through Monkton and decided to have dinner at the Manor Tavern. The atmosphere seemed nice and we were looking forward to a great meal. Ordered the Prime Rib with Montreal seasoning. Sadly, I've seen better steaks at Bonanza, Ponderosa and Texas Roadhouse. This steak was less than a 1/2" thick and half of the entire steak was gristle & fat. soft crab dinner was a special. We asked if we could get it on a sandwich and was told there would be a $3.00 extra fee. We said okay no problem. They served the crab on a bed of shredded whatever and brought a second plate with 2 pieces of white bread, tomato slice and side of mayonnaise to be assembled by us not by the kitchen. I found this terrible service. Also, the french onion soup was watery, not finished with sherry, a piece of plain white bread and not a french baquette slice in the bowl. Tasted like they made it from a Lipton onion soup package. Our bill for 2 appetizers, one bowl of onion soup, a soft crab sandwich made by my husband at our table, 3 glasses of house wine was $165. Great atmosphere and bones of a good Resturant but service and food just ok and not worthy of the higher dinner prices. And with large obvious cameras in dining and bar makes you wonder can't management spend time in the dining room and not behind a desk. read more

My first visit to The Manor Tavern did not disappoint. I made a reservation online and noted we would be celebrating our anniversary. Our server, Shannon C., immediately welcomed us with two glasses of complimentary champagne and a cupcake. A perfect start! We shared a bottle of Pinot Grigio for 1/2 price wine Wednesday and enjoyed the hot crab dip appetizer. The Grouper entree and Short Ribs entree were both phenomenal and made for leftovers to enjoy the next day. The seasonal peach cheesecake was different AND delicious. Recently moved to the area and passed The Manor Tavern quite a few times. Finally decided to check it out. Visited multiple times - food was consistently average but the prices were consistently astronomical. Checked with some long time locals who said the food used to be fantastic and worth the $ but not anymore. During one meal, I ordered the ribs which weren't that great - tough, tasteless, etc, and priced as if they were the best in Maryland. Server came by to deliver the check and noticed I hadn't finished the ribs and asked if I didn't care for them. I offered some gentle feedback. She replied along the lines of: 'I'm not surprised. We've had a few complaints.' YET they still served them. Still had to pay the full price. That was the last visit... read more

Theresa is super helpful and informative about the foods. What she doesn't know, she admits but asks to get the answers for us, which was very great!! Okay, getting there from the coast was such a treat! The drive was easy and beautiful! And then, their extra parking lot is so serene and a great spot to just hang out and listen to natural sounds! The outdoor patio is lovely and great for warmer weather. And the inside rooms are lavish, luxurious, and very, very comfortable! I mean, warm and sweet with chattering sounds of comfortable conversation and great scents of yummy food! My partner and I got the meal sets. His corn chowder was gentle and may have had shellfish in it. The French onion soup is divine and wonderfully textured with stewed onions! Wow! And my mushroom entree was such a delight and overwhelmingly delicious! To taste the umami of mushroom so thick and deliciously with cream on bread was new to me! And the ham was just so juicy, especially with the pineapple marmalade that added that sweetness to balance the saltiness of the ham. What a well thought out dish!! Such sublime flavors and textures! That cinnamon ice cream goes WELL super well with the bread pudding. Even without, each desert is unforgettable and so enticing! Perfect meal with amazing memories and inspiration behind each bite. Our first visit was amazing. We came to celebrate our 10-year anniversary. The front host staff immediately greeted us with "Happy Anniversary" as well as our server Shannon. Shannon was excellent! Attentive, kind, and a pleasure to be around. I will say that the manager was attentive to the other 2 tables in our section, but did not come up to us once to ask how our meal was. I thought it was odd, not because he need to, but because he was at the other tables several times. Shannon was great though! We shared the crab dip as an app, it was creamy and had a lot of jumbo lump. Husband got the crab cake, it was large and delicious. I got the burger, and it was so good! Had dinner with the family there the night after Thanksgiving. The service was awesome, and every dish was delicious. Two of us had the cod, two had the salmon and my daughter had the scallops. All of it was really good. I have had the pot pie before, and it is great, too. It is a nice relaxing restaurant for a special occasion or just a day when you don't want leftovers. I was here for an outdoor event. It was sponsored by eatdrinkrelax. Everything was great! This was an Oyster fest but it actually involved a little bit of everything. Including a pig roast. They had a variety of vendors and entertainment. Tons of outdoor seating available. Everything was held outside. The lines were pretty long but that could be expected. Especially since this was the first outdoor event held for 2021. It felt so good getting out and feeling like we are trying to get back to some normalcy. We bought our own chairs and found a spot to enjoy the scenery and the event. I did get a chance to make some soap purchases from one of the vendors. My family recently moved very close to the Manor Tavern and have been frequenting it quite often because of that. The good and the atmosphere are amazing. We usually sit at a booth in the bar area because it is the perfect amount of classy and casual. Can dress up or down. For my dinner I got a Crabcake Grilled Cheese, that bad bacon and tomato's in it. This was up there for one of the best ways to eat a crabcake I have ever tasted (being from MD that really is saying something). My dad got the short rib and it was served over Mac and cheese with asparagus as well. For our appetizers we got the buratta ensalada and truffle fries. Buratta is one of my favorite things to get as an appetizer. With this balsamic dressing it was outstanding. How good do those fries look??? I bet they tasted even better. read more

Came in solo and sat at what they call the Saddle Bar. I'm so used to DC servings, so I wasn't prepared that I would receive so much! Had the fish and chips and asked for a Hot toddy (best it's ever been made for me in my life; found out they used the honey from their bees in the drink--so delicious!). The bartender Bronwen said the food might take a little longer, to set up my expectations--but it didn't at all! And, I loved the food. My second time here, all the way from Howard County. The service is great--from the minute you walk in. Really enjoy it here. Looking forward to making this more of a regular thing. Also, many people here but not too loud or overwhelming. This place is much bigger than it looks on the outside. I sat on the side without the live music this evening. I've learned I need low sound (my Human design) to digest properly. read more

My wife and I had a great dining experience this past Friday. We were greeted by a nice girl who sat us by the fireplace in the dining room. She asked us if we were there for a special occasion to which we told her was our 33rd wedding anniversary. Teresa, our server could not have been any better. She let my wife sample two wines before she ordered her glass....something I never saw at a restaurant. Teresa, later brought us two complimentary glasses of champagne to celebrate our anniversary. The atmosphere, great food (rack of lamb) and delicious desert made our night one of the best. I am batting 500 at this place. The first time I went, the crabcakes, the salad the drinks. Everything was amazing. The second time I went. I had the shrimp stirfry special and it was almost edible. It had no flavor and the noodles were overcooked. Very disappointed. I will definitely try it again because the service is amazing and I figure they may have just had one bad night. read more

Five of us came here for dinner last evening with reservations for the indoors since it was so dang hot out. First of all, if you are going to check in on Yelp, do it before you enter the building. The walls are so thick your phone will not work. Everything was just fine here and I really can't complain. I had the jumbo shrimp with corn. We also got the Bucket of Bacon, which, frankly, was super fantastic especially when paired with the pineapple onion salsa-- outstanding! I was also pleased to be able to enjoy the local Union Craft Brewery Duckpin Pale Ale-- this is one of my favorite Baltimore beers. They also had ice cream from Prigel Family Creamery. We had the cinnamon ice cream for dessert-- what a great treat. Our server Michael was just outstanding and was really working hard last night. We had a small wedding party and were privately seated in the beautiful sun room located off of one of their many spacious dining rooms. We dined here on 6/29 for my son's 21st birthday. My wife and I were visiting from out of town and we found the staff, atmosphere, and food top notch. We arrived early and had a cocktail at the outside bar and the bartender Cliff was excellent. One of the best Old Fashioned's I've had and my wife loved her mojito. When my son and his friends arrived, the staff was well aware of the occasion and made the dining experience even better. We will be back again on our next visit for sure! read more

Management is terrible, especially Luis (I believe that was his name) whom was extremely incompetent and vividly degraded multiple servers and bussers. Our dear friends treated us to lunch at the Manor Tavern. We were the first to arrive and were seated in front of the fireplace. The dining room had such a warm and welcoming feeling. Megan, our server, was a delight. She was so accommodating when I asked for a chair with arms as our friend was recovering from a broken leg and having a chair with arms would be easier for her. The cocktails we enjoyed were the Cranberry Sangria, Chardonnay, Orange Crush, and a Chocolate Martini. We all split our Caesar salad, which were dressed perfectly. Our friends had French onion soup, salmon BLT (roasted salmon with applewood smoked bacon and heirloom tomatoes on a grilled pita with hot honey aioli) and the French dip (tender prime beef on grilled ciabatta bread with Swiss and au jus dip) with the crispy onion straws on the side. My husband enjoyed the jumbo shrimp salad with lettuce and tomato on a grilled buttered bun, and I had the Low Country Burger made with local Roseda beef, horseradish cheddar, crispy onion straws on a brioche bun. I had them put the Carolina Q sauce on the side, which was a great request as it was too spicy for me. My burger was cooked perfectly. We all enjoyed the double dipped French fries. Our husbands like to end their meals with something sweet, so they ordered a brownie hot fudge sundae and the egg nog cheesecake. Disappointed in lack of selection for a buffet Thanksgiving dinner at $55 a head they ran out of turkey for the 5:00 seating. Everyone that I was in line with got one little slice of turkey and all the sides were cold. Management was nowhere in site. Either they badly underestimated how much food was needed or people from other seating times overstayed their time. No pumpkin pie and whipped cream either for dessert just carrot cake cupcakes and cookies. Definitely not worth the money. read more

Don't get up here often, but we had a great lunch this time. Ordered the French onion soup to start and it was great. Lots of cheese and the croutons still had some texture to it and not soggy. The smashburger was awesome, cooked perfectly, and messy to eat...it didn't matter. I crushed it all, especially since I wasn't too enamored with the fries (a little cold and I only seemed to get small, broken pieces). Great food, friendly staff, beautiful atmosphere! My boyfriend and I went here for Baltimore County Restaurant Week with another couple. We made reservations in advance and had no issues upon arrival. The property is beautiful and once it gets warmer, the outdoor seating looked lovely! Our server quickly brought out bread and took our drink orders. There was mostly wine, a few bottled beers, and a small cocktail menu which was printed separately. Our server was friendly, patient, and helpful with several of our questions. The chef (assuming so as his face mask said "Chef" and he had a Chef hat and jacket on!) actually came out to ask how our food was which was very nice. (Note: Our server mentioned the restaurant changed ownership recently so they were working out some kinks and menu changes, so for those who have been before and were disappointed, I encourage you to give them another chance!) My boyfriend and I got the same order ha, the oysters and the tri tip steak. Oysters were small but cold and came with a nice garlic butter sauce. The steak was cooked to order and both of ours had a nice crisp crust on them. The side of potatoes and veggies were both great too. For dessert, they actually had a huge menu of cakes, brownies, and ice cream! We got the Monkton Mudslide which was a layered chocolate cake with lots of chocolate candies in it. My boyfriend and the other couple both loved this! I liked it too but I ordered the Cannoli cake and I truly thought that was the star dessert!! Christmas Eve dinner at Manor Tavern didn't disappoint! We had a 7pm reservation and were seated immediately. It was surprisingly not too crowded. For starters I had the Louisiana gumbo. It was a little spicy but delicious. It had nice chunks of crab and shrimp throughout. For the main entree my dad and I split the pot pie. They actually served it on two separate plates with our own pie crust. Service was a little bit slow but it was Christmas Eve so I wasn't in a hurry and can cut them some slack. My partner enjoyed the drive and gushed about it. This "tavern" is more of a clean and cozy country club geared towards the elderly and those who enjoy the slower pace of life. Everything was comfortable and soft, more warm and comfortable than the dark and grundgey tavern feeling. The food was flavorful, well balanced, and so succulent that the savory tasted sweet and delicious. Even the beverages are well put together by the helpful staff and I enjoyed exploring the drinks. My husband and I were looking for a place to hold our rehearsal dinner for our wedding and learned about Manor Tavern from our officiant and wedding venue. We had a party of 30 people and held our dinner in the sunroom. Our whole experience with the Manor Tavern was wonderful and we were impressed. We had an opportunity to select our linens and layout, customize our menu and drink list, and were able to bring our own desserts. The team was professional, and the food was delicious. On a Saturday night our party of two sat in a booth in the bar at 6:30. Only eight other people (at four tables) were dining there. The service was incredibly slow. We were not given bread or anything, and waited for a long time before our order was taken. When we did order our appetizer that took an unusually long amount of time to arrive as did our meals. It shouldn't have taken long because we had ordered raw oysters. The oysters were small and bland. The softshell crab was small and flavorless and some parts of it were inedible, not soft shell, more like seashell. The fries were delicious. The Maryland crab soup was ordinary and sparse and filled with inedible shells. The chicken pot pie was satisfactory. However, the food prices are too high for the substandard dinner and service. There are many other restaurants that are better options. Friends of mine had warned me that the food was no longer good at Manor Tavern. I thought I would give it a try anyway because I haven't been there in 15 years. I will not return to the Manor Tavern for at least another 15 years. read more
