This was an amazing surprise date for me. My wife kept telling me she had a something nice planned but this took the cake. So it was a candlelight tribute to Adele. Where the band plays a selection of different singers music. My wife knowing how much a huge Adele fan I am picked her of course. It was unbelievable experience the musicians were very transparent & engaging with the audience. The only thing I will say that was an issue is the refreshments were subpar but other than that this is most definitely an experience I would recommend everyone experience read more

Attended a wedding here on New Year's Eve into New Year's Day! It was very beautiful! The couple had their ceremony, cocktail hour and reception here! The venue is attached to embassy suites which is convenient for a wedding party and guest! The size of each room was very nice and grand. A little cookie cutter typical wedding venue! Though there can be multiple weddings going on at once one would never know Bc they are very separate! The food was nice! Had many options to chose from. I was there this past Saturday for a friend's wedding. It's such a gem within the inner harbor. Her wedding was on the 8th floor, in a beautiful room with windows that allowed for natural light (meaning good wedding photos!). Her cocktail hour was a floor below, in another incredibly fancy room, then back up to the eighth floor. The food was excellent! Salad with bacon, chicken wrapped with bacon :) Even after coffee service was done, I asked one of the servers if they wouldn't mind bringing my husband and I more, and they went out of their way to bring us some. read more

We went to view the property last year and we had an okay experience. We arrived 20 minutes early. The manager that was suppose to meet us couldn't meet. So we waited about an hour for another manager from another department to meet and show us around. The halls are very nice, and are something one should pay for to host a wedding reception - not the rinky dink halls with drop ceilings. This manager said everything is customizable on the menu and hall times. We liked that idea, since many of the larger reception halls charge for a cocktail hour, however at the grand it was optional. We liked it and wanted to know more, including the pricing. The lady showing us around said the original manager who was suppose to meet us would follow up with us the next day and give us pricing details. We emailed that individual but we never heard back. A week later we followed up again and she said she would email us tomorrow. Again never heard back. It has now been 12 months and she never gave us more information, she always says tomorrow. I don't know what kind of business does this, but this was a first. We have over 100 guests that are coming. We had originally planned for April-May 2020, but We are now shooting for the wedding after covid dies down. But we have decided we would not be doing business with the grand. Instead of giving money to this joint, we ended up buying a 9500 square foot house on 5 acres. We will just be having our wedding at our house. Your halls are nice, but the way you snubbed us was an insult. This is not how you conduct business, this is not how you make money. I will be sure to keep an eye out, once you go bankrupt, I will most likely be the individual that buys that property. And if I do, heads will roll. read more

This place relies on it's beauty and history way too much and it's a shame they can not execute when it comes to performance. Our wedding reception was beautiful and a good time was had by all, but the service was horrible. Most of the night only one bar was staffed opposed to the two which were paid for. They ran out of ice at one point. For dinner, the filets were delicious, but the chicken option was not the same as it was at our tasting. Our concierges were nowhere to be found at different points in the evening. And finally, I was hoping for a little more coordination from our coordinator to say the least. read more

My Husband and I recently were married at The Grand on June 25, 2016. Our experience with this venue was truly exceptional. We first toured this venue in June of 2015 and met with Kathy Peck from the Sales Team. Kathy was highly knowledgeable and very patient as she addressed each and every question that we had. During our tour, we were blown away by the classic architecture and how well maintained the facility was considering it's age. The venue was stunning and it was quickly obvious to us that The Grand was truly an appropriate name for this stunning building. The Corinthian Ballroom showcased 30'+ ceilings, walls covered in rich marble and marble pillars throughout. My jaw dropped as we entered and I'll never forget the feeling of "this is it". We wanted to be very thorough in our venue search and entertained many meetings with countless venues in the area. Ultimately, the all-inclusive wedding package paired with a stunning location that would allow us the convenience of the ceremony and reception in one building and their reputation for state of the art catering is why we chose to move forward. In the months following, our wedding planners, Joie Events, became directly involved in managing the relationship with The Grand and we were assigned to Diane Abrahams as our Wedding Coordinator. Diane was the consummate professional. She possessed an exceptional attention to detail and showed us the highest level of commitment and attentiveness throughout our time working with her. Diane was incredibly responsive and showed a tremendous amount of flexibility when working around our demanding schedules. I admired Diane's passion for her work and her pride in the Venue. It was obvious to us that she truly valued the Staff and spoke incredibly highly of her peers every opportunity that she had. Throughout the process my Husband and I introduced some "out of the box" requests, Diane was always quick to accommodate us whenever possible and customized our package to fit our needs. It was during our tasting, that we became aware of how exceptional the food would be. We were truly amazed by the feast prepared for us and by how important it was to the Chef, the he created the meal of our dreams, for our special day. We walked away selecting a customized dish, the petite filet and crab stuffed shrimp with a lobster sauce. We were so confident in our selection and knew that our guests would love it as much as we did. In the week leading up to the wedding, Diane requested a meeting with our Wedding Planners and us to finalize all of the wedding details and ensure that every detail would be perfect. In attendance, was the Manager in charge of Guest Services, the Manager in charge of Catering and even the Engineer who would be responsible for climate control. We walked away feeling 100% reassured that the Team at The Grand was absolutely on top of it and were fully prepared to execute our day flawlessly. The day of is the reason 5 Stars are truly justified. As impressed as we had been with Diane, we quickly realized, that her team was a direct reflection of her. They also possessed an exceptional attention to detail, the highest level of professionalism and commitment to our day. Every staff member that I had the pleasure of interacting with was incredibly friendly, personable and genuinely happy to be working our wedding. The food was as exceptional, if not more so then it was during our tasting. As we walked around the ballroom greeting our guests, we saw evidence of cleanly scraped plates. There was a not a single guest that did not comment on how exceptional the food tasted and how impressive the presentation was of their meal. I recently got married at the Grand in August 2017. My service was absolutely HORRIBLE!!!! The staff treated my guest so bad. I was so embarrassed. This place made my wedding night horrible. I was so devastated. I overbooked and they couldn't accommodate anybody. Most of my guest went home and I had a horrible wedding. I order extra desserts and they told my guest they ran out which is a lie. They also had a lot of extra food and couldn't accommodate anyone. I really want to sue! I've been to two events hosted at the Grand Historic Venue so far. The location has a more than five floors of event space. As suggested from its name, the interior can feel kind of "historic", but with the right theme and planning, you can easily look over the fact. read more

We got married here and had so much trouble getting in contact with her new coordinator who was very rude and abrupt!!! I did not feel warm and fuzzy and was treated like a conference attendee and not a bride. This is my fourth coordinator and wonder what is going on there, It would have been nice if management or someone on the upper level had at least called to let me know of the change. It really ruined my experience. We were told that our previous coordinator Kimberly "had pursued other interests" and was no longer there! If it weren't for all of the work, planning, meetings and documentation Kimberly had done before she left I don't know what we would have done. She guided us every step of the way.My husband and I are grateful. She was professional and so sweet and creative. I'm not even going to talk about the food because it was disastrous and not what I had at the tasting with Kimberly. I saw her write it all down so I was amazed that they didn't get it right! I heard they went through several chefs in a couple of months. Beautiful venue but my advice is to find out where Kimberly is now so she can coordinate your wedding! read more

We recently had our wedding here, which was secured and planned very far in advance. To be fair in the ratings, if I attended a wedding here, I would probably give it a 5. The venue, buildings and rooms are amazing and nothing compares! The food, food and beverage staff were amazing. The banquet staff worked with us to provide a unique and customized menu that exceeded my expectations. However....the wedding coordinator piece of this as noted on previous reviews--a disaster. Initially we started out with Amy who was organized, wonderful and we were thrilled. When she went out on personal leave we were assigned another person whom we had a "final" two hour meeting with 2 weeks before the wedding and with no warning or notice from anyone in management, got a call from "our new coordinator" 2 days later, named Eun. We had to spend hours rehashing all the details and she was very patronizing and seemed most interested in getting payment and just getting the poorly written contracts and invoicing signed above all else. Many promises were made about how things would happen the day of, and that was a joke. I handled phone calls and issues up to the moment it was time to walk down the aisle which is exactly why we chose a venue like this--to NOT have to manage all this. Eun was barely present, wouldn't answer her phone, saying she "forgot it at home" that day (but strangely saw her with it a few minutes later)??, including several other mistruths. As noted previously, get your own wedding planner--this part of the venue was stress inducing! The "wedding attendant" who was supposed to be helping all day while getting ready appeared for the first time a few minutes before the ceremony began. We managed dragging lights and chairs from other rooms, finding something to hang tuxes in the guys' room, foraged for safety pins, mirrors, etc, called the lighting/sound manager at home on a Sat because Eun was not handling this nor present. (A few examples from many). Guests were arriving and no doorman or attendants were directing them where to go as promised. Very disappointing as we really loved this venue and expected so much more as promised. read more

IF YOU DON'T WANT MAJOR STRESS ON YOUR WEDDING DAY DON'T GO with this group! This Venue was historic and beautiful but the Wedding Planner(s) were disorganized and made unfulfilled promises. We were told that only our wedding would be held in the venue instead there were two other weddings held at the same time! This ended up in crowds of unknown people wandering around (exactly the scenario that we were promised would not happen). The wedding planners kept changing, no one knew what was going on, and on the day off, there was so much confusion among them. Service was poor and to top it off....they FORGOT THE WEDDING CAKE! Overpromised and under delivered...My husband and I were completely wowed by the beauty of this venue at our first visit. After seeing this place there was just no way that we were going to be married anywhere else. We made no hesitation to book our wedding date right away. We received exemplary service from our sales manager, Cindy Baucom. If everything was going to go according to the responsiveness and attentiveness that we received from her this will be money well spent. At least we thought. Things changed once we were given to the other side of the house, event coordinating. During my initial conversation with the coordinator I expressed my A type personality and need to be involved in every aspect of my wedding day. I was assured that I would not have to worry and exceptional care would be taken. Well, my first hiccup occurred when the stand in coordinator did not know my now husbands name. I was then promised information that I never received After a week of waiting I had to have my coordinator request a new representative. This request was honored. I arrived at Embassy Suites on Friday, October 13th to check into the room that was to be comped. The receptionist knew nothing of it. This all was to be coordinated by The Grand. A phone call had to be made to confirm that the suite was in fact to be comped as a part of our wedding package. We rented an additional suite for my mother and sons only for her to check into the room and find someone else's clothing on the floor. We brought this to the coordinator's attention at our rehearsal. It was resolved. However, no one should be given a room that has not been thoroughly cleaned. Fast forward to the evening of our wedding. The venue showed very well but the level of service that we received did not. My guest were served their food and walked away for a quick spin on the dance floor. Only to return to their seats and discover that their plates were removed and food discarded. Leaving many of them to go home hungry. My husband and I spent a large portion of our time mingling with our guest and celebrating. We were asked by our wedding concierge if we would like to have the food wrapped up and delivered to our room. This didn't happen. We arrived at our room later that night to find that nothing was there. We also gave our concierge his and hers rock glasses to serve our drinks in. It was later discovered that they were not returned to us. So after spending nearly $24,000 a few of our guest and we went hungry for the night. At around 10:30 the photographer asked that everyone meet outside for a staged sparkle send off. After the photos were taken we arrived back the Edinburgh Hall only to find that the room was being dismantled. My centerpieces has been taken apart and the room itself looked to be in disarray. I advised the manager for the evening but did not hear or see him again. We were stuck. There was no one to call or help us with this. Exhausted, frustrated and disappointed we returned to our room only to find that it was not converted as promised. I specially asked the coordinator what will happen with the room after it is used during the day for the bridal party to get ready. She advised me that it would be converted into the honeymoon suite. Yet another disappointment. We found that the gift that was left form is was placed in a room that wasn't the suite that was given to us. My husband and I were eager to get to our honeymoon the following day after the disappointments of the day before. We returned from our honeymoon only to find that items from our wedding were missing. Most importantly the top tier of our cake was missing. I immediately contacted the coordinator to advise of the situation only to be met with blame. She hid behind the BEO that stated that they are not responsible for items "left behind". Well, it wasn't left behind. It wa never surrendered. She also stated the they "assumed" the event was over because of the sparkle send off. This assumption was not brought the my bridal party's, coordinator or myself. Essentially, they shut down my reception. I have asked to speak with upper management @aimbridge hospitality in regard to the events that transpired on what was to be best day of our lives. To date this request has not been honored. By the way , the two of the items that she vehemently denied were in The Grands possessin magically appeared. This is evidence that they did not surrender everything as claimed. I can honestly say that this was the worst experience that I've had and it happened to me on my wedding day. If you're expecting follow through for your wedding DO NOT CHOOSE VENUE! read more

I came here for a conference-like event and was very impressed by not only the venue, but also the friendliness of the staff. First of all, this venue, as the name suggests, is closely connected with the history of the City of Baltimore itself. It was first built by the Freemasons in the 1860s, and served as the headquarters for 130+ years. After renovations, this venue was reopened to the public in 2005. As you can imagine, the interior is very lavish, with large banquet rooms, sweeping stairwells, marble steps, draping curtains, high ceilings, rich wood paneling, fancy paintings, but all with the comfort of modern technology. The staff is also very courteous and so helpful (especially when you get lost amidst the great halls). I would recommend bringing a jacket or layer if coming here for an event. Since the rooms are so large, the temperature may be more difficult to moderate efficiently. All in all, a beautiful site worth visiting when in Baltimore. read more

We were there for a Jazz concert and this is very grand place to be in. The interior may feel a little dated in some halls, but it doesn't take away from the experience being there. Wow! What an amazing place. If you ever get a chance to go here, you should. This place is a true gem, with lots of historic charm (no pun intended charm city). We had a chance to go here, because it is where they have the Do Or Die Mystery Dinner Theater every last Saturday of the month. If you are in the Downtown area, see if they will let you walk in and look around or ask if they give tours. Just a short walk from the Sheraton, Monaco and Lord Baltimore hotels (maybe 5-7 minutes at the most). read more

We just had a wedding ceremony , cocktail hour and reception. We actually utilized the marble ,strada and Corinthian rooms. From Friday through Sunday morning we got fabulous service. From the drive up to Embassy suites to the venue areas. The entire staff on the ground fulfilled our needs from top to bottom. Our Wedfing coordinator Eun balanced a lot of detail and balancing throughout the planning. She was thrown into a situation after having 2 other planners who left GHV . We worked closely with Eun Kim and she accommodated and delivered any and all tasks that were required. This venue is a lovely place to have a wedding from soup to nuts. She even jumped in at the eleventh hour to assist us on a mistake that was really ours. So perhaps it was a blessing the other people left this establishment. Our wedding attendant was excellent as well. We had so e very tough request with the family needs and a few people who were under the weather. The guest were wowed ! The florist we used was phenomenal ! They did the decor in the ceremony room and reception. Stunning - simple elegance .... There was one thing that was a little bothersome which had nothing to do with anybody but the kitchen. The filet which by contract was supposed to be pink /medium rare was well done over cooked. That was a consistent gripe amongst our guests. Salmon and Veggie meal was great ! Filet was a real screw up because we were on schedule so there was no push back on waiting. Not sure what happened but we had 65 filets out of 125 and they were all over cooked grossly. We will deal with that with their management team. That was not the planner fault. Andre was a great server during the reception some of the staff on the brides side took a break around the time cake was served - we went and got our cake off the trays ourselves. Not sure why that happened ? Make sure if you outsource for events you train them appropriately. Andre did it all while the other team was taking a break in the middle of the reception on the side where the brides dad was sitting ?? That will be dealt with as well. read more

Attended a 2 day conference at the Grand. Beautiful historic venue space. Conference experience was one of the more comfortable ones I've had. Events were catered with daily breakfasts, coffee service,and afternoon snacks. Venue was clean and all the employees I encountered were polite and courteous. We had our wedding here. First the good parts: the food, cake, banquet captain Billy and the facility (though repairs to damage and wear to the building are not fully being kept up with- we noted some damage months before our event that they said would be fixed but never were). The sales and event staff and contract documents are a disaster. Their contract form is a confusing legal mess with contradictory terms, poor grammar, large areas of responsibility missing, etc. They try to enforce policies they do not provide to you at or before contract signing and that are not in or referenced in the contract, potentially a breach of contract issue. They tried to enforce some "policies" they did not tell us about until months after signing our contract and these "policies" affected other vendor contracts we had entered into. They have 3 deposits before event plus final banquet checks and payment due after event. But they pressure you to pay all of the event costs before the event, in actions that seemingly amount to criminal extortion by threatening to not hold the event. The contract does not say anything about their right to cancel an event for which deposits have been paid, thus my opinion that their tactics may have been criminal in nature. In short, if you are going to hire these people, I recommend you hire a lawyer to review the contract and then pay the lawyer to make sure the contract is adhered to and enforced. The sales staff, who were not new, did not know names of all the rooms and could not answer some pretty basic questions that slowed the initial process down. Our event manager Eun was fairly new to the venue but supposedly had much experience planning events. She was often slow in responding to emails or calls, was not detailed oriented (which is a fundamental skill-set in this type of work), was condescending and would change things without asking, rather than drawing them to our attention and making suggestions. She failed to use most recent files or otherwise used outdated information. She sometimes came unprepared to meetings and failed to follow through on some promises. We completely lost faith in her ability so we ended up creating our own timeline of events and required check-ins to be sure things had been done. We'd have to recommend anyone else do the same. We were never told her shift would end in the middle of the event and she would leave. We only met our bridal attendant the day of the event. She was nice but had long, unexplained disappearances during the event despite having a radio to communicate with other staff. This included disappearing for most of our pre and post ceremony photography when we were on other floors of the building. I'd recommend just deleting that person from your contract, save that money and hire someone you know to attend the bride. Twice the bills provided to or charged to us were wrong and they did not enter billing charges correctly from the contract. We also had a block of hotel rooms in their hotel- this was also a disaster. They claimed they were reorganizing the business but it took weeks to get our room contract out of them. Then when guests went to use the phone and discount codes provided the online system erroneously claimed rooms were booked for our dates and call center staff also did not have our wedding rate info. The only way to book a room under our event was direct calls to the reception desk. Another major hassle for us and our guests. There are not enough elevators at peak times the wait can be 10 minutes. In short, be prepared for a lot of hassles and stress of dealing with their staff if our experience is typical if you really want to benefit from the facility. read more

We held our company holiday party at the Grand in Dec 2018. The service was the worse ever!!!!! Some of the staff were flippant with the guests. We didn't receive the appetizer we ordered and the cold meatballs that we did get had to be eaten on napkins because there were no toothpicks, etc. We ordered/paid for a plated menu and instead received platters to share at the table. Utensils were missing from an entire dinner table AND an entire table itself was missing. It had to be setup smack in the middle of dinner service so that guests could sit. We were told the Grand ran out of wine glasses, so we were unable to have table wine service, of which we'd contracted for wine served...never received it. The list of horrible service goes on and on. I can't begin to list all of the things that made for a HORRENDOUS night. I will say, at the end of the night, guests had to retrieve their own vehicles because there was only one valet retrieving cars, which took nearly thirty minutes between each vehicle. The other valet available got stuck trying to jump start a guest's electric car...WHY? The Grand agreed to refund a portion of the fee for the event. When asked for half (though a full refund was due us), they refused even though they were in clear breach of contract. Never ever again, will we use the Grand or recommend them to anyone. read more

My organization held a luncheon at the Grand today. The location is lovely, but there were a number of negatives: the rolls were stale; the dishes at the head table were not cleared; the dessert was tasteless; and no coffee was served at the head table until several of us chased the staff around. Considering the price point, this was a very disappointing affair. read more
