I can describe the owner of Chase Court, David, with one word: unhinged. During my one hour ceremony on 11/25/23 David did the following; -Told our photographer how to do her job (unsolicited) -Made comments to a 16 year old girl that left her in tears -Began arguing with my father in law, calling him a "coward" at one point -Did his best to make sure we were not in the venue for a single minute longer than booked. 61 minutes is unacceptable, 60 is ok -Acted confrontation with me (the groom) when discussing this -Left my now wife feeling incredibly uncomfortable with both his comments about her and ways in which he touched her -Spoke rudely to my wife's grandfather, and immediately warmed up to him upon learning he was the pastor Last but not least: -Commented, "are THOSE (emphasized) people with you?" towards my wife's black family. As a human being and fellow business owner, I couldn't be more disgusted with the shameful way he conducted himself. read more

This review comes over a decade past due...BUT my wedding there was spectacular in May of 2012. I dreaded being turned away from venues due to wanting a hand-fasting instead of a traditional wedding. I shouldn't have been worried, though, as Chase Court was the first (and the last) venue we checked. Chase Court is very accepting and accommodating to ALL. Not only is it beautiful, but inclusivity is a major plus and not to be taken for granted. I'm truly happy that this is where my husband and I said our vows. read more

I went here for a friend's wedding and it was very enjoyable. During the big day it rained so the staff was good at transitioning the wedding service indoors. The building is very historic and picturesque. I thought the food could be better as the meat portions were small and lacked full flavor. Otherwise, this is a nice venue for a wedding. read more

Chase Court was the most amazing venue for my husband and my wedding! As soon as I saw the place in person I just knew it was where I wanted to get married. It looks like a little fairytale secret garden tucked in such a great location close to downtown. David, the owner of the venue was always helpful, kind and enthusiastic with my husband and I. The space has two outside areas, both gorgeous. The first is the entrance garden, a lovely outdoor walkway with tree branches overhead creating a hallway effect. A blooming tree next to a striking red door and vine covered stone walls complete the picture. Speaking of pictures, the entrance garden makes for a great spot for some staged pictures of the bride and groom. I was lucky enough to have 70 degree sunny weather for my march wedding and I was able to get married outside in the equally beautiful ceremony garden. David was so flexible when a week before my wedding date I realized how nice the weather was going to be and switched my ceremony from being inside to outside! White chairs set up with a koi pond, a beautiful pedestal for the bride and groom, stone walls really make this a gorgeous space. Inside there is a foyer, library, ballroom and upstairs a brides room. The brides room was a beautifully decorated and elegant. I got there an hour before my ceremony and after I checked in on everything being set up spent the rest of my time in the Brides Room with my bridesmaids and it was so fun because the windows were looking out on the ceremony garden so we could watch everyone arriving and getting seated. Downstairs was just as lovely, if not more so. The foyer, library and ballroom all have beautiful hardwood floors, gothic inspired stained glass windows and classic white walls. The library is the smaller of the rooms, a good spot to have your bar and hors douves set up and the ballroom is the larger room, where we did dinner and dancing. We used long tables in a U shape which worked perfectly for our 50 person wedding. The venue is so gorgepus and speaks for itself so much that you don't need too many decorations. We had simple hydrangea centerpieces which looked chic and classic. The location is also great. Technically, its in Mount Vernon but its sooo close and convenient to downtown. My guests and I all stayed in a hotel downtown and it was so easy getting back and forth. Overall, amazing everything here. Couldn't have found a more perfect venue. read more

We attended a wedding reception here on New Years eve. Difficult to find, the driver of the shuttle had to circle the block twice before letting us off around the and kind of shrugging when we seemed confused that there was no Chase Court in sight. Some of us had seen a sign pointing towards a gate between two buildings, and sure enough down a pathway we found what we were looking for. The space, when we attended, was set up as follows: The door entered into a hallway; a large room to the left with a fireplace, about 11 large round tables, each seating 7 or so. Down 3 steps to the right there was a smaller room which could fit 4 cocktail tables and a bar setup(A long service table). As I take it, the event space didn't come with any setup, so the tables were brought here by the party. In the hallway there was a large staircase leading up, which the wedding party often used, presumably as a preparation area. Also on the ground floor was a coat room. Service was decent at the event, servers with hors d'oeuvres were quickly overwhelmed by guests who hadn't eaten since noon, and after getting exhausted from getting picked-off in the hallway on the way to the cocktail room, started to ignore some of the guests trying to stop/flag them. The servers assigned to the bar were fantastic, although at one point I believe the regulars took a breather and I wound up teaching the substitute how to make a vodka soda. Service for dinner was fantastic, the staff was knowledgable and accommodation. The hostess was aware of my girlfriends vegetarianism and monitored our table to make sure that she wasn't given a plate she wasn't supposed to be. Additionally, the salad had nuts on it, which my girlfriend is allergic to. No sooner did she ask if the salad had nuts on it did the waiter turn around and take it back to the kitchen, coming back moments later with a totally fresh salad - allergen free. The evening didn't seem spaced well, and I'm unsure if this was on the part of the venue or the party. For a three-hour event, the hors d'oeuvres were passed out for about an hour and dinner service lasted about an hour, leaving only a half our or so for dancing and whatnot. Seeing as the bridesmaid had painstakingly created a two-hour dance playlist, I don't think it was the parties intention. All-in-all, a beautiful space with only a few missteps for the entire reception made for a very memorable evening. read more

I'm giving Chase Court 4 stars because it is a absolutely beautiful venue. My husband and I had our wedding there 2 weeks ago. We got had the elopement package with a cocktail reception. And while I wish we could have had more time but it was perfect. Now while I did not witness this first hand some of the stuff that David did was not cool in my book. He kept coming in the brides room over and over while we were trying to get ready. I also had someone tell me that he locked himself in the library so that no one would go in until after the ceremony. He also was putting chairs away while we were still there and did not say excuse me when my guests where in his way. He was however very helpful when trying to book our caterers and he picked an amazing officiant and photographer for us. So all in all I would recommend this place if you are looking for that gothic/ renaissance feel. read more

Our daughter planned her wedding here two years ago due to the lovely venue and garden for an outdoor ceremony . Covid hit after we paid in full. No reimbursement per contract. Ok. Planned for a year later. After several adjustments (again due to Baltimore City restrictions) we settled on a reduced (less than Baltimore City at that time allowed) group of 28 wedding party and family. Hoping for outdoor ceremony and reception, but had a weather plan discussed and agreed upon after several exchanges with the proprietor. He didn't like our requests but finally allowed our ideas. Reminder, we paid in full over a year earlier for 5 hours, only to receive 4 hours and there was no concession about that. Possibly because we stood up against his irrational offers (bridal party doesn't need to enter building just stand behind bushes to enter for ceremony (wow) and relented by allowing the bridal party with their 'stuff' into the building only to tell us that our 'stuff' would need to be removed before the wedding ceremony began as he was locking the room we were allowed in as soon as ceremony began. Wasting time and making nerves fragile for no reason. After scrabbling around to do as the proprietor wished, the ceremony began and he starting loudly closing windows during the nuptials. Rain began and the tables were set outside getting wet and dirty with tree foliage. It took several attempts by the caterer to get the go ahead to move the tables and reset indoors, taking up more precious time. Precious wedding gifts and mementos and our 'stuff' that was required to be moved outdoors before the ceremony began, got wet and some things damaged. The steward didn't allow us to be in the agreed upon larger indoors ballroom, but instead told caterers to set up in the very small library (not Covid appropriate) and the bar was to stay outdoors in the rain. To end all, the venue "steward/proprietor David opened the upstairs window where he resides and yelled out "Last call". An embarrassing display all around on his part. He should be ashamed of his behavior. He hovered and scolded guests and vendors if they stepped off the paved way by mistake. He purposely tried everything to make our time there difficult and I can imagine it's because we didn't go along with his absurd rules which were not in line with Covid restrictions at our wedding time. read more

The venue is every bit as striking as the pictures would have you believe. The great hall looks like something out of a fantasy story; and for two nerds getting married that made it perfect. It also has a fantastic indoor/outdoor setup; the weather for our wedding was as nice as we could have hoped for in October in Baltimore, but if we'd been forced to go inside it would have been fine and fitting. If you're getting married outdoors though, watch for the bridge! We didn't have anyone go off of it, but only because we were all paying really really close attention to it. The catering list, while limited, still gives you plenty of options. We ended up going with The Pantry at David's suggestion and can't recommend them highly enough. Speaking of David, he is an integral part of the Chase Court experience. We understand that his hands-on approach may not be for everyone, but neither of us had Our Perfect Wedding Planned Out From Age Six and his reassurance and advice was critical for us. We also wanted to find as inclusive an environment for our wedding as possible, and David's dedication to social justice and inclusion was a big selling point. The venue is beautiful, albeit small. My husband and I were considering having our wedding here however the owner made us rethink the decision. When we met with him, he gave us a rushed 5 minute tour and kept pushing us into booking a date on the spot. When I said I wanted time to think about it and wanted to bring my mom by to look at the venue, he condescendingly said, "You're in your 20s and still need your mommy to make decisions for you?" After that, I was completely put off from the place. Also, the parking garage is far and we had a hard time even finding the building since it is not very visible from the road. read more

I feel strongly that I should write a review of this venue even though we did not choose to get married here. Our main reason for not choosing Chase Court was that it just wasn't a good fit for what we were interested in. That being stated though, I feel honored to have found this beautiful location. Chase court is in a beautiful Gothic building that has been around for a very long time. From what I could tell the building has been very well taken care of and David has been doing an excellent job of keeping the business coming. Walking into the courtyard was like entering a sanctuary. Even though it was a busy weekday, we could barely hear the traffic just on the other side of the wall. The indoor option was just lovely and had so much character! If we were going to keep to a small number of guests (as in 6) then we more thank likely would have chosen this venue. And regarding the pricing - you really do get what you pay for But a bit longer than 30 mins would be a bit easier on everyone. PS - David, I apologize for not calling you back to let you know that we went with another venue, things got a little hectic! read more

We were married here years ago. David, the owner was very helpful and friendly. The location is beautiful and impeccably kept with that old gothic feeling without all the weird church tradition. We're a lesbian couple, so LGBT friendliness was important to us, and the whole staff was great. We had our ceremony in the garden, drinks in the library, and dinner in the ballroom. Worked perfectly. This was also a really reasonably priced location for the versatility and beauty it offers. Especially if you want an outside ceremony but want an easy alternative if it rains, Chase Court is great. read more

We wanted to get married without the hassle of planning a wedding, but at the same time didn't want to just go to city hall--we were looking for a nice ceremony that honored the significance of what we were doing. The Chase Court Elopement package was absolutely perfect. It was obvious that David and the officiant he chose for us would have accommodated any request and let us personalize/customize the ceremony pretty much any way we wanted to, but for us the point was to not have to do all of that. We let David and the Pastor know what details did matter to us, and left the rest up to them. We showed up and got married with absolutely no stressing over the details. I have already recommended Chase Court to another couple looking for a nice and beautiful but low-key wedding. read more

Chase Court is gorgeous. We absolutely loved our wedding there and our guests raved about it. The garden was simply magnificent and the space was really perfect. I also love that the place is LGBTQ friendly. David, the owner, helped us to coordinate a wonderful event that went off smoothly. The reviews on other sites mention this (and I appreciated the warning): David is opinionated and can be heavy-handed. We tended to be grateful for his advice, though, and he worked flexibly with our tastes and vision. His recommendations for vendors were also fantastic. He really knows what he's doing! My only complaint was with the sound system. We used an ipod for music, which we hooked up to the built-in system there. It's not great and we would have liked it to be louder. On the other hand, it didn't stop us from having a pretty great dance party! read more

My new husband and I just had our wedding here (3/19/14). Unfortunately, this past winter was exceptionally cold, snowy, rainy, and just ...bleck. Our wedding day was no exception, so we ended up doing our entire wedding (ceremony and reception) inside. The four out of five stars relates to the cocktail hour, which was rather awkward because the ballroom was closed for repositioning from 'ceremony' to 'reception.' Maybe for some couples this would be o.k., but if you are like us and have many elderly, disabled, and infirmed guests, you might find it a bit uncomfortable and crowded during this time. We had about 80 guests and it was hard to fit everyone comfortably - to the point where many people didn't really get to enjoy the appetizers or specialty cocktails because we were rather smashed in and lacked space for chairs or tables. Aside from this (which was a mere 20 minutes of the night) - we LOVED Chase Court. CC offers the best of both worlds: you're right downtown near hubs of transportation, tourist attractions, and high-end hotels, but you feel like you're in some fairytale country estate straight out of an Edwardian novel. David is efficient, no-nonsense, and yet took the time at the end of a busy night to visit with us and our photographers for a few moments of humor and banter. I had heard about this place as an "accepting" venue, which is what I needed. However, I'm not sure if the person who answered was having a bad day, but he was not very helpful or enthusiastic. Maybe its because I am a man and he is used to dealing with female callers? (I actually had two venues mention that its usually a bride calling, not a groom). I'm not sure. Anyway, I called about two weeks ago and I asked him some questions, and he just offered abrupt yes or no answers without any further explanation, and his attitude and tone of voice sounded like I was interrupting his sleep or I was bothering him. I was calling for more information, but I feel like getting the info was like pulling teeth. He did not offer for me to visit, or set up an appointment. I asked all of the questions, he answered them with short nondescript answers, then there was silence on his end... By the end of our conversation, I did not even want to ask for a tour or an appointment, which is a shame, because it seemed perfect on the website. I just don't understand...all the reviews were great, but I'm not going with someone who's first impression on the phone makes it seem like I am bothering him. If that is the tone when he's trying to sell the venue to me, I could only imagine what would he do if I had an actual problem on my wedding day... read more

This is a really beautiful venue however, the owner is very rude. During my site visit, I was told by the owner that in order for me to have my wedding there I would have to pay the total price of my wedding, and reception upfront. The price that I was quoted was for a total of five thousand dollars for approximately 10 guest. Whatever happened to deposits??? He stated that because my wedding was three months out I should be able to pay huh??? The reason I considered this venue is because I wanted to elope. I don't believe a elopement ceremony should be that high. Especially for a two hour event. After the meeting I was turned completely off! read more

My wife and I got married here Monday, April 28th. We were eloping, but didn't want a court house ceremony. We used the Destination Intimate Wedding Package, one of many elopement packages David offers, and couldn't be happier. It's so nice to have all of the details taken care of for you, and everyone was so nice and really seemed excited for us. David the owner, our officiant Heather and our photographer Daniel (all included in the package) were all warm smiles and encouragement. I didn't feel like I missed out on a thing by eloping, and it allowed us to have enough money left over to have a reception back home. Wedding ceremonies go by so quick whether you have 2 people there or 200. It was such a romantic space in the ceremony garden, and each person was so nice it almost felt like they were our guests.
