Oh my! What a very special weekend here where we attended a family members wedding and reception. This beautiful and wonderfully appointed old mansion was an incredibly romantic spot for two young people to join the knot. Our accommodations as guests attending the wedding for the weekend were in the "Tudor" room. The four poster bed was extremely comfortable with plenty of pillows. HVAC didn't appear to be adjustable but was quite comfortable nonetheless. Bathroom had a very large Jacuzzi as well as sink and walk in shower. Plenty of hot water, strong pressure, very refreshing. The grounds are absolutely amazing and neatly landscaped. The food for the event, including dinner and breakfast were spot on! All-in-all, simply charming. read more

I stayed here for a friend's wedding recently and let me tell you this is hands down one of the best BnB's ever and I've been to a few. The building is in the Tudor style but has lots of medieval accents, which I found to be interesting. There are several vintage pieces and artwork for sale at affordable prices on display throughout the building. I was super excited about that and purchased a couple of pieces to take home with me. The rooms are very cozy and the mattress/pillows/towels are such good quality. And to top it off, breakfast is solid and hearty. They also know how to host an event. I had my wedding here and it turned out beautiful. They were gracious enough to give my decor person a little more time to set up. The only reason I gave a 4 out of 5 was because I would have liked a little bit more communication as we got closer to the wedding date. Maybe some insight on what to expect the day of not just a call to confirm my guest count. That alone would have helped my anxiety levels the day of the wedding. Tuesdays with Anne Review I recently visited the Gramercy Mansion for a wonderful garden and mansion tour with a delicious box lunch included from The Lunchbox Lady. The tours are led by the owner, Anne, and are on Tuesdays from 11:00-1:00 by reservation only. Your group must contain at least 6 people. We started the tour with Anne showing us all of the gardens surrounding the mansion including the pool, the angel garden and the Japanese garden with coy pond. Along the way we encountered a gong and drum that we were encouraged to play. We made our way to the front garden where many in our group took advantage of the swing. We then headed to the Carriage House for a quick tour. Next we enjoyed a delicious box lunch prepared by The Lunchbox Lady. You have a choice of sandwich, salad or half sandwich/half salad. The water with fresh basil was refreshing after a humid tour outside. We finished with a short tour of the main floor of the mansion and one of the large guest rooms. We learned about many of the antique items and artwork. If you love gardens, this is a great tour for you! Anne is incredibly knowledgeable about all of the plants and trees on the vast estate. Where do I begin? From the moment we toured Gramercy mansion I knew it was something special. The grounds alone take your breath away. I got married here on 11/10/23 and keep replaying each moment over and over because it was everything I had hoped for and more. Gramercy Mansion is a charming Tudor mansion and bed and breakfast in Baltimore county's Greenspring Valley. I think it was original built for someone's daughter as a wedding gift. They are not luxury, gourmet or anything that "boring". They just want you to visit and make this home your home. I especially liked the fresh flowers throughout the house and cookies everyday. The rooms were nice, featuring antiques and artwork, whirlpool tubs and fireplaces. I enjoyed breakfast in the morning with top notch service. For what it is, I can't find one thing to complain about during my stay. Just suggestions to make something good, better. I wish they offered a complimentary Wine Hour at night and a Billiard Room. There's really nothing to do. You can walk the garden or shop the antiques throughout the house but that's it. They should also have handouts for every area in Baltimore and recommend things to do, where to shop, where to dine, where to hear good music etc. I only saw handouts about the history of the mansion, garden, other sister properties and wedding services. This was seriously the most lovely experience. I'm not usually a bed & breakfast type of girl, but I had to be in Pikesville early in the morning, this was ten minutes away from where I had to be, and it looked completely gorgeous. I'm a total sucker for anything historic/Victorian (this mansion was built in 1902 so it's technically one year younger than "Victorian", but all the decor is the beautiful ornate Victorian style that I fawn over every time.) I happily booked a night here with my fiance in the Ambassadors Room. The mansion itself is a sprawling tudor, and every inch of it is stunning, from the chandeliers to the paintings to the authentic period furniture. Everything has that decadent old money feel that makes it easy to imagine it's 1910 and you're staying at a very rich friend's house. We arrived after 9 so we weren't greeted by anyone (which I actually preferred because I was tired, grumpy and kind of dreading having to interact with an overly friendly b&b owner.) We were, however, greeted by a beautiful cat waiting at the top of the staircase for us! He was a floofy, sweet old Himalayan (maybe Persian?) who followed us into our room and enthusiastically accepted my showering of attention. We eventually had to escort him out (very reluctantly on my part because I would've loved to let him sleep in there, but a lack of a litter box might've been an issue.) The room was as comfortable as can be - spotless, spacious with a fireplace, desk and table to sit at, adjustable ambient lighting from the chandelier and the most heavenly bed I've ever slept in in my life. If that were my bed at home, I'd never leave it. I want to say it was a feather bed, and it's the type that's raised really high so you need a foot stool (which was provided) to get on it. The room had a private bathroom as well - I was concerned that it wouldn't since technically this is a house and not many houses have bathrooms in all the bedrooms, but that proved not to be a problem. If I HAD to state a minor complaint, it's that the thermostat wouldn't go below 68. It was really muggy out and I prefer a very cool room for sleeping. Honestly though, that didn't detract from my complete satisfaction with everything else. I'll also add as a disclaimer that based on the photos of some of the other rooms, the Ambassadors Room seems like one of the more glamorous ones. Some of the others are more floral/airy with a notably different feel. Not as sexy and dramatic - probably just as comfortable, but I'm glad we got the one we did. I definitely recommend looking at the photos before requesting a specific room so you can pick one that's best suited to your taste. We were on a tight schedule, so I regrettably didn't get to try the breakfast. I also didn't get to see the gardens, but I imagine they're beautiful. If I'm ever in the area overnight again, this will be my choice of where to stay. I hear this is a popular wedding venue too, and based on what I saw, I highly recommend it for that! I'd consider getting married here myself if I weren't eloping to Malibu. read more

My husband woke up in the morning with bug bites ! I woke up with a stiff neck (hard pillows and bed...) I found the decor overly cluttered, with some statues disturbing... One family member had nightmares throughout the night...The creepy clowns were just too much... Breakfast of eggs benedict were served cold, overcooked, and the English muffins were not toasted but stale... At one point, my husband left his phone (which is in a phone case that looks like a wallet) on a table in our room. He keeps one credit card in that phone... We got married at Gramercy Mansion in 2023 and it was such an amazing experience. The moment you stepped into this place, it was like being transported into a Tudor mansion. It was quiet, peaceful, and just beautifully decorated. Out of all of the vendors I have worked with for our wedding, the staff at Gramercy Mansion was my absolute favorite. They were so quick to respond to our emails, and were always soooo gracious towards us. Everyone was so nice and so kind to us, especially me, who at the time such a nervous bride. Our photographer was so enamored with the mansion that she came back on her own months later to spend time her and be inspired by the beautiful garden. The mansion is beautiful, and it is authentic. The fireplaces are wood-burning, and they actually function. There is also no shortage of interesting antiques to look at, most of which are for sale. The food was great, the customer service was excellent, and they even upgraded our room when we expressed interest in another. I would definitely stay here again, over any other b&b. read more

We attended an outdoor wedding at the Gramercy Mansion a few months ago. Everything about the grounds and interior is gorgeous. Whatever you're there for this is a place that you'll just want to wander around and explore. The outdoors are so sylvan that you just want to find a hidden nook off a path with a stone bench and start writing poetry. It is not very far from the heavily trafficked road, so outdoor events should take into consideration that a string quartet will do nothing to drown out the noise from the passing cars. The inside of the buildings is just as gorgeous in the tastefully expensive way you would expect when you hear the word "mansion". It seems they are prepared to move anything around to accommodate any type of catering for any type of event, and wandering from room to room was a large part of our enjoyment. read more

I was looking all over the state for a bed and breakfast for a weekend getaway when I stumbled upon this beautiful Victorian lodging. The main house is spacious and the parking lot has spaces reserved for each named room. The house is set back in the woods with wonderful gardens and a pool (a bit too chilly to test during our spring cold snap). Our room is gorgeously appointed and warm, with views of the gardens behind the house. One of the things I really appreciated more than I thought I would is the option to take breakfast in your room. You indicate your selections before bed the night before and voila your meal appears at the time you designate in the morning. Eating in their provided robes just adds to the quaint luxury. Although apparently the mansion is host to many wedding parties it's also ideal for a romantic getaway as well. We'll return for sure. read more

Gramercy Mansion staff went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect for our special ceremony to honor my loved on. As someone who is very detail-oriented, I was happy to note that everything I asked to be done in preparation for the service was completed on time and with care; these are the things that matter when choosing a venue like this. Stayed here this weekend in the Ambassador room and adored it! We wanted a chilled out, relaxing weekend and that is exactly what we got! Loved the super comfortable bed, wood fireplace, and the deep tub. They provided tons of wood for the fireplace, which was great, although the fireplace was a little tricky to get the wood going. The room had a mini fridge, microwave, and TV which you could hide away in an armoire. It was also fantastic that our room had a table so we could order breakfast in our room in the morning! The banana pancakes were awesome! The place was full the last night we were there, however, it was so quiet and we barely saw a person! The grounds were beautiful and I would love to see it in the summer! We will def be back for special occasions. read more

I attended a wedding here, and stayed the night in the Bar Harbor room -- everything was fantastic. I love old mansions... and especially love weddings in old mansions. The ceremony was performed outside and the dinner/reception was on an enclosed patio. The dance floor was inside the mansion, and it was amazing what they were able to do with the space. There's a huge pool out back where everyone can hang out the day of the wedding, which is perfect for summertime. For each couple that gets married here, the mansion puts a brick with their name and wedding date in the back walkway -- a nice touch. read more

This B&B is in my top 3 that I've ever stayed in, and I've stayed at a good number of them! A B&B has 2 components that should be equally honored and respected - a great bed and room to rest in and an outstanding breakfast. This place, thankfully, has both! My husband and I stayed here the weekend before MLK day. Good thing we didn't stay Sunday to Monday - I totally forgot the inauguration was the next day! Firstly, this mansion has a lot of character - some of the best I've ever seen. It has a lot of great spaces to meander around to peak your curiosity. It has a lot of its original old flair (if you can ignore the air conditioners hanging out of most of the windows year-round). Secondly, every awesome B&B has a resident housepet - either a cat or a dog. This place has an awesome old cat named Romeow. He was SO adorable and sweet. When we came back from dinner, he followed us all the way up the stairs and into our room (no joke!) I felt so bad leading him back out of the room, but we didn't have a litterbox and food to keep him happy :) We ended up staying in the Bar Harbor room. Thankfully, it did not disappoint. It was absolutely gorgeous. My one minor complaint would be the lack of pillows on the bed - it wasn't enough for 2 people for sure. But the rest of the room was fantastic. I was 22 weeks pregnant at the time and besides not being able to fit past the part of the bed that's close to the wall, it was excellent. The inclusion of a microwave and a fridge was fantastic - really helpful. Also helpful was the heater in the bathroom - definitely necessary in the middle of winter! Now onto my favorite part - the breakfast! The menu that you get to choose from for breakfast is like what you see at a hotel - except you get to pick as much as you want! They have vegetarian and vegan options if you want as well... being a big preggo mama, I got many items and their oatmeal was the BEST I'VE EVER HAD. I know that sounds weird... it's just oatmeal, right? But it was the embodiment of coziness... it embodied that second B in a B&B so fantastically for me that I literally emailed the owners of this B&B's facebook page to ask for how they made it, and had my husband make it for me for the next 2 weeks when we got back. It really is amazing... the whole breakfast was so tasty. I have never had a better breakfast in a B&B, and it was one of the best breakfasts I've honestly ever had. I would really love to come back here again in the spring or the fall sometime. I love this place! read more

I am reviewing Gramercy Mansion's wedding services (they host wedding ceremonies and receptions). My fiance and I signed a contract for our wedding ceremony with Gramercy. I want to start off by saying I am NOT a high maintenance "bridezilla," and I'm not easily driven to complain about anything. This is the only negative review I've written in relation to my wedding, and that's saying a lot! I want to give a huge warning to all brides considering Gramercy Mansion for their wedding: the staff and managers here could care less about customer service. They seem nice enough at first, but once you've paid for your contract, they stop caring and treat customers like dirt. Never in my entire life have I dealt with a business manager as unprofessional, rude, and condescending as Cristin Kline (General Manager at Gramercy Mansion). She was deceitful, manipulative, and absolutely cold-hearted. During our final phone conversation, her total lack of empathy for my concerns about my wedding day actually drove me to tears, and she even shouted at me and was extremely unfeeling. Now that I look back on it, I can't believe Gramercy is still in business with such a terrible manager. If you book your wedding here, and if anything doesn't go as originally planned, do NOT expect the management to help you or be understanding in any way! What happened? My contract (paid in full) was violated by the managers (they wanted to change the location of my ceremony and the start time of my wedding to the morning) so as to bend over backwards to accommodate the other bride getting married that day. When I calmly asked Cristin Kline, the manager, why she would do this to me and my fiance only 6 months before our wedding day, she became defensive, rude, and raised her voice. She refused to give me a good reason for violating my contract, and "punished" me for asking questions by forbidding me from bringing my photographer on the property for a photo shoot before the ceremony. Don't risk it ladies. They might change your contract suddenly, for no good reason, without a care for what you've been dreaming of on your wedding day. read more

I went here for a holiday party with a date for her work party. The decorations are really random and some have price tags which I guess means they're for sale. I saw a cool painting of Republican presidents playing pool with Lincoln, which I'd never seen before. Even Obama would think that painting was cool. The Gramercy Mansion was everything I wanted for an outdoor/indoor fall wedding. Our ceremony was on the brick patio, cocktail hour on the main lawn, dinner in the atrium and reception in the main house. The outdoor area was the perfect backdrop of fall foliage in our outdoor photos. The atrium with additional draping and string lights glowed with light and warmth in the most romantic way for dinner. The aesthetic was perfect for what we were looking for. The staff is incredibly helpful with any questions I had from the day we toured the venue leading up to the day of. We're celebrating our 42n'd anniversary at the Gramercy Mansion Bed & Breakfast and couldn't be more pleased we picked it. The home is large and beautifully decorated with antiques and art. The Tower room where we stayed is large, pleasantly decorated and equipped, and very comfortable including the bed. The gardens are VERY beautiful - just amazing. Breakfast was delicious and you won't go hungry. The location is close to a lot of other things which we took advantage of (Ladew Topiary Gardens and Tark's Grill). I booked my wedding here back in March and at that time with Maria I booked a room for the guys (5) to get ready in and two nights in A suite for the girls to get ready in. When I booked the room Maria informed me that the room I booked for the guys has one king bed, however when I check in I should request two fold out beds. When myself and my fiancé checked in we requested those beds. The young lady at check in told us that we have a problem because another party has requested two beds and they only have 3 available. I told her that this reservation was made in March and at that timeMaria told me I should wait until I checked in to request the fold out beds. The young lady at check in said she would work it out and not to worry. We then proceeded down to the garden area for our rehearsal. About 15 minutes into our rehearsal we see an army of 3 women marching down to us - Literally marching and looking quite unhappy . Christine (the manager) and two of the young ladies from the front desk in tow behind her who I might add were posted up like security guards begin to tell me how 5 guys can not fit in that room and I NEED to have a larger room. I then asked well when did it come to they can't fit in the room, this is a first. At first the issue was not having enough fold out beds, but now the problem is they can't fit. In an effort to keep my sanity and remain calm for my wedding which was happening in less than twelve hours I told her that it's not a problem for us to upgrade but a HUGE inconvenience for you to tell us this now! Christine then begin to tell me how Maria has been working for the Gramercy for 18 years and in so many words she was telling me that I probably was unsure of how many were going to be in the room. I kindly let her know I was never unsure, the number has always been 5 and while I really don't appreciate having to put out an additional $150 do whatever needs to be done so we can stay on schedule and resume our rehearsal. This was pretty much the last interaction I had with Christine, we did have a separate conversation with her away from our wedding party to get a better understanding on her reason for marching into our rehearsal and changing her reasoning for coming down to whether the room couldn't accommodate five or she just didn't have the beds available. What we took away from the conversation is that the Gramercy didn't have the beds and keep everyone at peace she rode with the story that the room was just "too small". Because we wanted everyone to be comfortable in our wedding party we didn't mind the larger room. We did however mind that no ownership was taken on managements behalf, you just don't inconvenience people the day before their wedding with no REAL reasoning other than your place of business didn't have the resources available. An 11 room bed and breakfast should have more than 3 fold out beds available. Other than that issue with Christine everything and everyone else (staff) was perfect!! This review could've been a 5 star but customer service is a huge part of business and the face of your business should have someone with superb customer service skills. Christine does not. My wedding was beautiful despite the rain and having to have it inside. I enjoyed my stay the night of my wedding and breakfast was wonderful. I would recommend the Gramercy to others, just make sure you get everything in writing if you're having a wedding there. read more

I hate to have to write a bad review. But in this case, it's only fair to warn people who may want to stay here. I really wanted to love this place. The Good: Very cool tree swing outside. The gardens minus the trash. The Bad: Poor customer service, very rushed on check in and didn't even say goodbye or thanks for staying with us when we left. Loud music till 11pm from a wedding, people/kids running up and down hall No access to first floor or pool on arrival. Bad breakfast-hard sausages, disliked burrito, stuff floating in the ice water in mine and my husbands glass. I didn't drink that. Yuck. Dead mosquito on the table. Legs up. Gross. Walk through gardens, trash along trails, two dirty plates on the swing, plastic cups littered everywhere. I know there was a wedding the night before but we were walking around at 10:30am! Rooms and property very run down. Wallpaper stapled to the wall in our room. Fluorescent and incandescent bulbs mixed in room Very dirty pool-leaves on bottom, bugs floating, very old patio furniture If you want to have a fantastic stay at a bed and breakfast, go to The Ivy in Baltimore. This place was the real star of me and wifey's wedding. Anyone in attendance, or who saw any pictures could attest to that. I'll be honest, before our venue visits, I almost wrote the Gramercy off as probably old, stuffy, and sterile (like a museum). Luckily we actually visited the property and my preconceived notions couldn't have been more wrong. What we walked into was a beautiful mansion with a history as rich and vintage as the house and grounds. More suitable words to describe it would be warm, magical, and welcoming. Meeting the owner Ann (very unassuming and down to earth) during a modest plant sale, the ever helpful mansion staff, and the quirky house cat Romeow over the course of what would be many visits (they host lots of really cool events like high tea, fancy dinners, and free wedding workshops) really gave life to the soul of Gramercy, making it that much easier for us to fall in love with it. With a pretty reasonable (and competitive - compared to a dozen other sites we visited and considered) rental rate and perpetually decorated house and grounds, we were actually able to save a lot with our decor budget. The natural and classic beauty of the property, inside and out, really sets the Gramercy apart from others, which after an event typically resume being a blank slate. Not here. Some furniture moved around, tables and chairs and linens taken out...still pretty as ever and retaining plenty of warmth, charm, and personality. On that note, an overwhelming number of our guests commented on how gorgeous our decor was in the reception area. We could maybe take 20% of the credit for that. OH and I didn't even talk about the fact that this place is also an awesome BnB with a variety of amazing rooms! PERFECT if you have an awesome open bar like we did, as it couldn't possibly get any easier for hard-partying guests to simply find their way upstairs (and stay off the roads) and go to bed. And the breakfast the next morning: recalling excellent memories from the night before, while enjoying some of the best breakfast you will ever eat - it just doesn't get much better than that for the complete wedding experience. I could go on and on, gushing about this wonderful place but you really should just see it and experience it for yourself. Only suggestions are that the seats at the table are very uncomfortable and they put the wedding ceremony chairs on top of each other, the man to the right and left of me were on my lap, there's plenty of grounds there, the seats can be spaced out a bit. FYI: if you request an Uber or Lyft to pick you up, comment that the have to follow the driveway all the way up. For some reason the 'ping' for the location happens 1/4 up the driveway and the drivers sit there waiting then leave and charge you the cancellation fee. read more

I did not stay here, but went for a wedding. The building was lovely, the food was excellent, and the space was great to have a relatively small wedding reception. Would definitely go again for the great location for a weekend away. read more

This is one of my favorite places in the area! My husband and I got married here in 2000 and had an amazing wedding. We returned for our 10th anniversary and enjoyed a lovely stay and fabulous breakfast. While I think the property is pretty close to perfect they continue to do improvements-Iike the brick walkway down to the garden, they put an addition on the mansion to add more rooms. All the while in keeping with the original character. The wood details are amazing and the whole mansion is decorated perfectly. It's beautiful in every season and the gardens are amazing. So amazing I didn't order that many flowers because they are already here! I can't wait to go back and visit again!! read more

We stayed here for our 18 anniversary in the Camelot room. We loved it! We will definitely go back. The rooms are beautifully appointed. The service is friendly and warm. We got in room massages and had breakfast on our balcony. The attention to detail was wonderful. read more

my husband and i were married in october and we decided to do something more soothing and relaxing for our honeymoon. we had an amazing 6 day stay here at gramercy . stayed in the ambassador suite , it was perfect in everyway. there are really no further words to describe such a magical place . breakfast in our suite everyday @ 9am and ive never had such fresh and wonderful plated food for breakfast in my life. we even had the pleasure of meeting the owner Mrs Ann. she was so glad we were enjoying ourselves and she even gave us her permission to explore the house ( that was not marked privite ) i cant wait to stay here again for another magical expirence . read more
