A NIGHTMARE for What Should've Been a Joyous Occassion I hosted my 30th birthday brunch at The Belvedere, the overall experience was deeply disappointing and frustrating. The food was served cold I, the guest of honor, received my meal last. The service staff was disorganized and unprofessional: drinks were served in glasses with visible mold, a guest was spilled on with syrup, place cards were ignored. (Which I had to MAKE MYSELF to add) After submitting a detailed formal complaint, their response was both disappointing and dismissive. They blamed the cold food and disorganized service on my late arrival -- which, while true, does not excuse the breakdown in execution. The original schedule was for starters to be served at 12:45 and entrées at 1:10. Due to my delay, starters were served at 1:20 -- only 35 minutes off -- yet entrées didn't arrive until 2:30, nearly an hour later. Even with the slight delay in the start, the kitchen had ample time to follow the adjusted timeline. Their excuse was that the food was ready at 12:45 -- but if that's the case, why was it not served until nearly two hours later, after we'd already finished starters by 1:45? Rather than take any accountability for the cold meals, lack of coordination, and overall poor service, they deflected blame and offered no refund, no accommodation, and no solutions. At first they offered to sit down with us & the team to discuss further. But once we added we wanted to bring statements from guest to eliminate the "he said, she said"at the advice of an attorney, they stopped communicating with us entirely. After we pleaded with them that we were not seeking council or legal action they still never responded. The lack of professionalism and unwillingness to make things right only deepened the disappointment. This was supposed to be a joyful milestone event, and instead it became a source of stress and embarrassment. I do not recommend The Belvedere for any event unless you want terrible service, communication, and professionalism. If you stayed this far the venue was beautiful. But at what cost? Not the amount of money, time & effort put into this day to just be silenced and not considered at all. read more

This is by far the worst establishment I've ever worked out as a vendor in 21 years of djing. the most disrespectful and disgusting people I've ever encountered in my entire life. Never have I ever been into a place or genuinely felt like people who were attending the event as guests could effectively run the establishment better than those who are actually paid to do this. I read these positive reviews before booking and was incredibly disappointed to have a different experience. Future brides; and please read our warning and save yourself the disappointment. Venue specific feedback: It was incredibly hot and humid inside the building. One of the main reasons we chose this venue was because we wanted to be out of the heat but everyone ended up sweating bullets because apparently the building i/ too old to cool properly. They didn't even have the air on in the parlor suite where we got ready so makeup was melting off as it was being applied. We were incredibly uncomfortable and the humidity turned my hair into a frizzy mess that was super frustrating. I would absolutely not recommend a summer event at the Belvedere for that reason. It has all the drawbacks of an outdoor space with none of the benefits. Reception specific feedback: I paid around $600 for fruit and cheese displayed appetizer and multiple guests got rotten berries. Strawberries with obvious ugly brown spots. I thought my friend must be mistaken but then I went over and I got rotten fruit too. I would never serve that in my home and was incredibly disappointed to serve it at our wedding. We paid around 600 for a single baked Brie en croute pastry that our guests had to cut themselves. I'm assuming it wasn't sliced because then it would have been even more obvious that that isn't 40 servings. We had small plates fish and short rib for the dinner portion. I was charged for each guest to have one of each but when they went to be served the server made them choose beef or fish giving guests the impression they could only have one. They should have been in offered beef fish or both that's what I paid for. I paid for double the food that guests were actually offered. I also paid for two attendants but every time I looked over, there was only one. There was a bunch of nickel and diming over petty things. Example: the microphone for the ceremony and reception was an additional rental fee of $75 each. I was charged $200 for a table for dessert (that we had already paid the baker to set up). At that point just raise the venue rental fee with the initial quote. I don't want to deal with petty charges like that. I had enough to think about. I was happy on my wedding day. I'll have good memories of my wedding, but I would absolutely never recommend this venue to anyone. Maybe our 13k fee wasn't big enough for them to bring out the 5 star experience but our wedding was hot sticky and just generally below expectation. read more

I was happy to hear the 13th Floor finished their renovations! They opened just in time for Halloween and the place is gorgeous. The 13th Floor is located in the Belvedere which used to be a hotel that hosted celebrities and has since been converted into condominium units. They have valet parking which is nice if you can't find any street parking. It was $5 when I went but didn't need it and got a close spot. Walk in and you'll see a little bell-hop desk in and to the right. Take that elevator up to the 13th Floor. There's nothing to be scared about, even on Halloween :-) The place isn't huge and the views of the city are worth at least one trip here. They have awesome stained glass-type art pieces and have remodeled with red velvety decor. There's a decent size bar and I wouldn't say I thought the cocktails drinks are fabulous but we had a great time. Rafael is a really fun server and next time I'm going to take his advice and try the scallops. read more

I could not have imagined a more beautiful place to get married. Living in the neighborhood, I thought I would only be able to dream of getting married here and it really is amazing how this dream came true. Their event planning style was perfect for us. Venue, catering, event coordinators and a planning guide all included together which made every step of the process a breeze. The organization among all of the event coordinators was incredible. They all really made us feel like family from the moment we first toured until we packed up our final things at the end of the reception. One ongoing perk we will surely take advantage of is the lifetime VIB discount at the Owl Bar! Incredibly professional and an organization that really knows what they are doing. Would love to do it all over again! The 13th floor is now only open for private events but I say it's a perfect opportunity to host an amazing party! read more

I had my son's engagement at this venue. The 13th floors' view is spectacular. My issues were: communication with the party coordinators is very difficult. They charge a ton of fees on everything, including taxing the $2,000 venue fee. They also charge a 23% service charge on the top of the bill. When asked what that paid for, I was told the staffing. I had to pay at least $175 for each staff member, including someone to dip our ice cream for the dessert bar, so the staffing was paid for...CRAZY!!! The bar staffing (which I paid extra for additional bartenders) were rude, abrupt and downright ignorant to my guests. THE STATION FOOD WAS HORRIBLE...and expensive. The sliders were dry and cold (all 4 kinds); we ran out of bread for the crab dip and they refused to bring more; the dry rub chicken wings were like having a mouth full of powder. The butlered food was better but not worth the $$$. I would stay away from this place for an event. Like I said, the view was nice but it is certainly not worth the $$$. Anyone looking to have their wedding, party, or any type of social event, DO NOT HAVE IT AT THE BELVEDERE & Co. This place is a rip off. I held my daughter's graduation party, June 2023, on the 13th floor. The venue spaces are beautiful but the food is horrible. When I say horrible, I mean HORRIBLE. I chose to serve Butlered Horsd'Oeuvres and have Stir-Fry Action Station. The hot foods were cold and the portion size was small. I know one is saying, "Horsd'Oeuvres were served and they are miniature in size." My food items were undersized. In addition, do not expect homemade food. The food served was frozen purchased at your corner grocery store. * Miniature Crab Cakes - They certainly were miniature. My guests were served a pea size something. * Tempura Shrimp - They were cold and they didn't serve the amount I paid for. On top of that, the bartender was eating my food. * Salmon & Asparagus Enrooted - This food item was okay but cold. * Crispy Cauliflower Lollipop- This food item was okay but cold * Chick Stay - It seemed like the chef took the small chicken skewer out of the freezer and placed them on a serving tray. The Stir-Fry Action Station was served with bird's eye mixed vegetables with no rice or noodles. Anybody knows, stir-fry dish is served with rice or noodles. In addition, the vegetables were cold. One of my guests put a piece of broccoli in a server's hand so they could feel the temperature of the food. Also, the food wasn't replenished in a timely fashion. My guests had to wait at least 25 minutes before the cook was given more bird's eye mixed vegetables. I was so embarrassed and hurt. I am supposed to be enjoying my daughter's celebration, but I am running around speaking with cooks and the manager about the food. Being known as an event venue, I thought the Belvedere would but on a stellar event. They should have been prepared to host a gathering of only fifty people. Mind you, the venue is very costly and they charge for everything. I definitely will not be using the venue for any other celebrations nor am I going to suggest the venue to family and friends. read more

What a view, what a view... If you want to see a gorgeous view of Baltimore then the 13th floor is the place to be! The entire experience of the 13th floor is so different from the day to day life that it seems fitting that it is so high above the streets. First off to get to the 13th floor you have to ride in an old school elevator which kinda scary but yet cool at the same time. Once you arrive up top, you are greeted by a great view and a good sized bar to order drinks. I sat down at the bar and the bartenders immediately started a conversation. The 13th floor has a great feel and vibe to it, especially once you see the piano and live music area. I am not sure the schedule but most days they have someone performing. The day I went it was a piano player and he was awesome! Ok back to the drinks... the drinks that were prepared were great! they showed creativity and knowledge of the liqueurs. I enjoyed each more than the last. The bar service and food service were good as well, always asking how things were and if there was anything else that could be done. The food was good too, very flavorful and nicely done. My only draw back was the price and a slight delay in some of the food coming out but sometimes you did not even notice because you were enjoying the drinks and view. The view as mentioned is great, even if you come only for the view and one drink it is worth the parking hassle. So overall, The 13th Floor was a hit! Top notch food, drinks, service and a killer view!! I will def be back. I would highly recommend the 13th floor for anyone... even those afraid of heights! The atmosphere inside is gorgeous! Soon as we stepped out of the elevator I felt like we were in a James Bond movie. The room was dim with just candlelight and huge floor to ceiling windows that offer amazing views of the city. There's also Tom on the piano who was really sweet and checked on our table a few times. If you're planning a romantic date I would definitely recommend coming here. We started off with the avocado and tuna tartar and the crab ravioli for appetizers. Both were delicious, but the tartar was the definite winner. For my meal I ordered the sea bass served with crab meat underneath. It was a very light tasting meal. The sea bass was perfectly poached and the crab was a nice touch. We also received a platter of sides to share. It came with asparagus, potatoes, zucchini with marinara and parm, and green beans. I also had some kind of gin cocktail and it was delicious. Be prepared to spend a lot of money here. My share of the bill was around $67 for a drink, entree, and 2 apps split evenly amongst 5 people. And what sucked was that I was hungry 30 min later -- guess I shoulda ordered dessert! But overall, the food, service and atmosphere was definitely worth it. read more

The skyline views here are absolutely amazing. My first thought as I left the elevator was the cityscape view actually reminded me of this beautiful, 5 star restaurant in Orlando that's at the top of a building and has wide, expansive windows. However, that's where the similarities end. No 5 star anything here, with exception of the view. It's old, cramped and just old. Serious updating on decor needed right away. I felt like I was on a cruise ship from the 80's. Yeah, it was that bad. Glad it was dark because I'm sure there was some nastiness my eyes didn't need to see. The bartenders were friendly and accommodating. I actually got a smile and a joke from one of them. No problems ordering fairly quickly at 11 on a Saturday night. But the DJ was another story. He was all over the place with what he played and not in a good, like "ooh that's my song" way. More like, "WTH?" and everyone proceeds to leave the tiny dance stage. Saw a couple of bachelorette parties (the veil and matching outfits gave it away) and those ladies were smashed, so they were having a ball. Probably best for groups and mixed crowds of folks. I was here last night with a group of 8 for a birthday dinner, and I cannot sing the praises of this restaurant enough. I had been looking forward to going here ever since i was invited to my friends birthday dinner about 2 months before, so when the day finally came around, I was ecstatic. First, I like how there is a parking lot directly behind the hotel for only $5! Saves a lot of time when searching for a parking spot downtown. Upon entering the Belvedere, we were instantly greeted and asked if we were going up to the 13th Floor, so we were able to get on the elevator to go up to the restaurant. Once I got off of the elevator, I was even more excited to be there! Dim lighting, very classy, and it overlooks Baltimore City which was absolutely gorgeous at night. The hostesses immediately knew which group we were with, and offered to check out coats and scarves in which was awesome. The hostesses were all really nice and friendly and were sat immediately. Once we were sat, our server started us off with drinks. I ordered Stillwater's Of Love and Regret, and a few others ordered wine or cocktails. The cocktails all looked amazing and everyone seemed to enjoy their drinks. Since we had a larger group, everyone ordered appetizers to split. My friend and I ordered the sesame seared tuna and it was amazing! I am super picky about my tuna, but it was perfect and so were the sauces! It also comes with seaweed salad, which I don't really care for, but my friend loved. The two girls next to me ordered the brie and that also looked great! For my meal, I ordered the port wine braised short ribs. They were AMAZING. Perfectly cooked, tender, and a generous size! The mashed potatoes were also great, and the port wine demi glace was to die for. I asked for a glass of prosecco to come out with my meal and that was brought out promptly just as I asked! I was surprised that the server didn't forget since I had mentioned it some time before ordering my meal. Everyone else also seemed to enjoy their meal and most of us ate every last bite on our plate. For dessert, one of my friends ordered the lava cake and I had a bite and it was pretty good! I am not much of a chocolate person, but it's hard to say no to something as delicious as lava cake. My after dinner drink was an espresso, which was recommended by the server and it was amazing as well. As for the overall environment, it was definitely a very classy and elegant experience. The dim lighting was a very nice touch and I love how the restaurant overlooks Baltimore City. Our table was right by the window so it was nice to turn around and be able to look at the city from the 13th Floor. The music was very Frank Sinatra based, with a live singer and trumpet player who were there during the evening. There's a small space where you can even dance to music, and a small couch for those who would like to sit and observe. We even witnessed a proposal during our dinner! The singer and trumpet player also sang/played "happy birthday" for my friend whose birthday we were celebrating. At one point in the night, the manager/owner also stopped by our table and asked how things were going and of course we had nothing but great things to say. Our server was awesome! Very patient with our group, attentive, and friendly! She was also knowledgable and had some great suggestions for food and drinks. She even offered to take a group picture of everyone which was super nice of her. I had such a great time at the 13th Floor and hope I go back sometime soon, whether it's for dinner or even just happy hour. I had an amazing experience there and I can't say enough positive things about this restaurant. This is the perfect place for a nice birthday dinner, rehearsal dinner, or even if you wanted to impress someone on a first date. However, plan on spending a generous amount! Just for myself I spent almost $80, and our 8 person group total for the bill was $550, so be ready to spend some money here! Talk about a sexy meal! The Belvedere Hotel 13th Floor pulled out all the stops for Valentine's night. I will never forget my first trip to the 13th Floor. Oddly most buildings skip this floor for superstitious reasons... but you won't want to skip this sultry lounge spot. My Valentine's date invited me out for a surprise evening or luxury and I was sold! The ambiance in this place is electric and not overpowering. The Valentine's menu was four courses of class and fun.  Drinks: These drinks were totally top shelf and sexy! We had the "Lucky You" and "The Fitzgerald." The Lucky You - Patron, mandarin and blood orange liqueur, fresh citrus and St. Germain. The Fitzgerald - Woodford Reserve Biourbon, Combier Rouge Cherry Liqueur, Carpano Vermouth, Peychaud's Bitters. 1st Course: We had the Short Rib Sliders with onion straws. Those little things were robust in flavor. And you share it for a romantic moment. Nice! Plus it was a little bit of Baltimore's blue collar charm in a high class presentation. Although I was not feeling the salty onion straws. I'm also thinking, for Valentine's Day that's not a good call if you want to get all lovey dovey. IJS. "Onion breath... table for one!" 2nd Course: The Spring Vegetable Salad.. ehhh it was a salad covered in a ton of radishes. I found out later from a friend that radishes are allegedly an aphrodisiac. Ahhh well played 13th Floor. LOL 3rd Course: I had the Eggplant Parmesan and it was SO good! The eggplant was breaded with tomato basil,  mozzarella, sun dried tomatoes and sauteed artichokes. nom nom nom. My date had the Chicken Oscar. It was a broiled marinated chicken breast, with hearb seasoned jumbo lump crab, hollandaise, asparagus spears and roasted potatoes. So good! 4th Course: What else... Whoopie Pies! These Red velvet & White Chocolate Raspberry Whoopie Pies were good,  although I don't really like Red Velvet. Again these sweets are to be shared with your sweetie. So we enjoyed the treat.  SUMMARY: The 13th Floor dished up 4 courses of sexy Valentine's night fun on a plate. Kudos to my date for the night! He did everything right. If this place was located down a few floors, it would be 2-stars. If it were on the ground, 1 star. Its 3-star rating is entirely dependent on its altitude. It's expensive. It's the kind of grimy one only gets with gratuitous mirrors and a 4ft by 4ft dance floor. It's everything a club shouldn't be, but it has a BEAUTIFUL view. Belvedere & Co. helped us celebrate our dream wedding, even during covid. Originally we were supposed to have a 150 person wedding (in April 2020), but Belvedere helped us re-plan our event to just 15 people. They helped us still have everything we dreamed of, just on a smaller scale. Their staff was ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE - we can not say enough good things about them. The servers and bartender did a phenomenal job making sure everything about our day was perfect. They were so attentive and kind, and were instrumental in making the day what it was. It felt like they were there celebrating with us! Brooke, our planner, was very helpful and organized throughout the entire process (planning the wedding twice, basically), and make sure everything was accounted for. She made sure the entire day ran smoothly, and assisted us in modifying a timeline that worked best for us given the smaller-than-expected attendance. She rolled with the punches, and helped make everything much less stressful. Belvedere did a great job re-organizing our day for "covid", enabling us to still feel safe holding our event even thought I'm "high risk", and we had just been vaccinated. When trying to work out the specifics around the covid event, especially around the financial aspect of the wedding, they weren't quite as responsive as they had been during the initial planning or at the end. Also, there were some covid contracts and additional information we weren't given until the week before - which we would have preferred to have dealt with earlier to make it a little less stressful. However, we do understand this has been a very difficult time for the industry. In all, our wedding was absolutely nothing like we had originally planned it to be back in 2019, but thanks to the Belvedere, it was still the wedding of our dreams. read more

I threw my boyfriend a surprise birthday party here last night, and it was absolutely amazing. The event coordinator was wonderful and the service throughout the evening was outstanding (bar service and butlered hors d'oeuvres). We had a small hiccup with the AV (several hours before the event), but they had everything up and running on time. Definitely the kind of venue you need to budget for, but it was absolutely perfect for the party I envisioned. Beautiful space that requires little (or in this case, nothing) in the way of additional decoration. I'm thrilled with how well the party turned out, and guests repeatedly complimented my choice of venue. read more

I went to this place/ bar for a birthday party on a Friday night. First off, the place was empty which was a little odd to me. The sever was as rude and as disrespectful as they come. We asked her to take a photo of us and I guess we were taking too long because I heard her say "still waiting"...? Anyway, the food was mediocre. It took an hour just to get apps for two. Then it was cold , sent food back to be heated then we received our entrees before the apps came back. The manager excused the kitchen stating ,"it is all the way down stairs and the food has to travel in the elevator that the residents use someti es it can take a while "eeeewwwww ,yuck,,, and the drinks seemed a little pricey. The biggest issue was the check I was expected to pay or for the apps I never got . The manager told me that they can put it in a box and I could take it home with me, but I will have to wait for new food because the staff ate our apps in the back. What????? Never mind !!!! I paid by cc and when I looked at my statement a few days after the charged cleared they had charged me $10 more read more

There's a beautiful view, it's nice and exclusive inside. You feel the vibe as soon as the elevators open up. I would recommend making reservations in advance, as it's not that big of a place inside. We went on a night when they were playing live music which was nice. It's upscale, there's a fancy feel to it, and it's a great spot for dinner or drinks. I would recommend this spot to celebrate an anniversary, birthday or a romantic date. We didn't choose to eat here, as we came for drinks after dinner at Owl Bar, but the drinks were decent and typical prices that you would find anywhere else. read more

Just went to a formal birthday celebration dinner at the Belvedere on E. Chase St in Baltimore The banquet hall was gorgeous but the food was shockingly awful. I'm sure the hosts paid quite a bit for a 200 person group , but all we got was pink lemonade , peach flavored water and sweet tea - not even a fruit punch. The salad tasted fresh with a delicious dressing , but the main meal was a very dry , tasteless breaded chicken breast , a piece of salmon with perhaps a teaspoon of some unknown sauce , two stalks of broccolini which were so tough l literally could not cut mine with my knife ( nor could anyone else at my 9 person table) and maybe two tablespoons of mashed potato. I could not imagine any chef putting out food like that. Every other person I spoke to at the party had the same response. Requests for more bread or butter met with the response of no we don't have any more. Butter? Really? Rolls? All done ! Really! I requested a vegetarian plate anticipating they would bring me one without the meat and perhaps bigger servings of broccolini and potato- nothing fancy . The manager in my opinion came across as quite rude and said no we don't have any vegetarian option. This was without question the absolute worst meal I have ever had in a hotel. read more

It took ages to get water and our first drinks. It took even longer for our friends waters/drinks (they came a few minutes after us). The worst part was they weren't even busy. We were enjoying taking our time, however we started to notice they were super slow. Beers and cocktails sat dry numerous times (over 5 minutes). Food also took an extremely long time after ordering. This is a given since all food comes up the elevator from the 1st floor! Our waitress did apologize for the wait and was 'unsure' why it was taking so long. Just then, our 'duck fat fries' and 'baked brie' came out. The were delicious! This may have been brought on by the wait... Again, drinks glasses sat empty, service was bad. One of the beers ordered was totally 'skunked', bad beer. Both couples ordered and split 'shrimp and lobster risotto'. The wait time for this took FOREVER. Luckily there was a man playing a piano with one hand while singing (he had two hands, just only used one.) We were planning to complain when we overheard our neighbors complaining about their food... She then came to us and apologized for the extreme wait and again was 'unsure' why it was taking so long. We then lodged our complaint; saying we were unsure if we wanted to continue our dinner, etc., etc., and she offered a round of drinks or dessert and I said I'd like to speak with the manager to avoid hassling the middleman anymore. Voila! Our food arrives. It looked good and was split in the back of the back of house like requested. Because we were already aggravated, I stuck my finger in the dead center of the risotto. If you burn your finger, this is a good sign. It was lukewarm at best! It tasted great and we at it all. Again, maybe because we sat at 7:30 and the food arrived at 9:30! The manager then arrived... I (we) explained the situation: excited to come - bad service - good company - slow - we wouldn't expect this from a place like this (a place that has a dress code should have impeccable service...) She quickly noted that she checked the ticket time and said it was around 20mins from ordering to on table... First of all, this type of thing should never be said to the customer... I told her "I appreciate your forethought in understanding our service, however we are very unhappy". She asked if we wanted dessert. We said no. She then apologized for the wait and walked away!!! We were astounded. It was the opposite of customer service... Our waitress arrived (5 mins) later and said "was everything taken care of?" We said absolutely not, that she offered nothing (off the bill). The waitress said she'd take a round of drinks off - this was on a near $200 bill. Once we got the check, ONE of my beers was taken off. That's it! Where I come from, we consider a round as everyone at the table... They hadn't even taken off the bad beer (that we complained about). Just then, she brought a new check with 1 beer + the bad beer off. We explained/showed her the check and the 'round' not off. At this point the manager was watching us from the corner, while acting like she wasn't. Any adult or professional would have known to come and rectify the situation.... We told our waitress that this was absolutely ridiculous and that we would never come back. She left. The gentlemen gave their credit cards to split the bill and get it over with. The more we thought about it the more we couldn't stomach the thought of paying. Here's where you be the judge - we decided to walk out. We left $40 cash tip for the waitress. This was well over bill and over tipped as it was bad service but she was working for this mess so we felt bad. We then exited the elevator. I used the restroom while the rest of the party waited outside. When I got out, they said that the doorman was holding us and had called the police. UNREAL. We were fed up so one of the girls forfeited her credit card. We waited in the lobby of the Belvedere for the cops because of incredibly bad service! How's that for PR Miss 13th Floor manager... The police arrived and laughed at our story and said now they know not to come... The manager had come down and talked with an officer but didn't even attempt to talk with us / rectify the situation. We told the police to go chase crime and they laughed and told us to have a good night. We will never be going back to the 13th Floor. The End. read more

I am not even sure why this owner decided to even respond to my review when I was there she wouldn't speak to me but can respond to my review behind a computer. Go figure. The best you could have done was acknowledge some of the faults of your employees. I spoke to someone at your your business. The point of voicemail was to have the name of the person who I spoke to. I called that person back and ask them if outside cake was okay. I never called any other restaurants. Lets be clear I called this restaurant! I called this restaurant from my yelp app! Other yelpers will see how you handle this and see that it was poorly executed. A business should never come on here to try to attack the customer and make lame scenarios. Unfortunately I received poor service on birthday. It happen and I moved on. A simple sorry would have been sufficient. When I was there I said to your manager let me speak to the owner so that I can say why I will be rating here poorly. You never came out. I need no computer screen to hide behind. I was looking for the perfect date spot for a romantic dinner for my boyfriend and I and this place definitely didn't deliver. Upon entering you need to check in with elevator attendant to get upstairs to restaurant. They told us we could not get up even though we had reservations. After a few minutes an employee who had just come in from smoking casually apologized and took us up...very unprofessional. First indication this place was not nearly as exclusive and high end as they would like to think of themselves as (check out their website). Speaking of their website, it specifically talks about their dress code which gives the image of a swanky, upscale environment. I believe it said "men would feel comfortable in a jacket." I wore a cocktail dress, he wore a jacket. The reality was that most people were very casual- jeans, nothing special. On to the food...by far one of the worst meals I've ever had. I ordered ahi tuna steak, he had a steak. Both were HORRIBLE. My food was very cold- looked like rice had been sitting there for quite a long time. Tuna was terrible- just tasted gross, definitely not fresh. Both meals were extremely bland- no flavor at all. My boyfriend doused his steak with BBQ sauce to help him eat it. We were both disgusted. Service was mediocre at best and again, definitely not up to par for a restaurant that is supposed to be of a higher caliber. They did bring us 2 glasses of complimentary champagne and reduced our bill (slightly)l for the poor meals. I would have completely comped. The only redeeming quality about this place is the view but 100% not worth the time or money. The decor and environment was older too...definitely not modern, trendy or even classic. When leaving there was no one at coat check to retrieve my coat (boyfriend ended up getting himself). We then asked the elevator attendant for assistance getting a cab...we were told to go find one on the street. All in all, a horrible experience. They will not let you in if you're wearing sneakers or shorts, FYI. Once you're let in, you go up the elevator and enter into a dark but candlelit, beautiful lounge. It was smaller than I thought, but still impressive. The views of the city are amazing. There was a jazz singer who was really good, I thought she was a recording at first. I couldn't resist getting a glass of champagne! People here were the older crowd. read more

The Good: The ambiance was nice with a spectacular view of the city. Their restaurant week menu selections were well paired, plated nicely and tasty but nothing special. The Bad: My overall dining experience was awful from the time my party arrived until the time we left. The night started off bad when my party of fifteen was told we could not bring in a birthday cake even though we had voice mail confirmation from one of the staff members saying we could as long as we paid $3 a plate for service. We were willing to pay but the management refused to honor the voice mail commitment. In addition, our party of 15 was not allowed to sit at one table even though we all had all arrived prior to our scheduled reservation time. They broke us up into 2 sections anyway. The kitchen staff were running insanely slow. We were seated at 830. Our order was taken at 9. The appetizer came out at 945. The mane course came out at 1030. The desert came out at 1115. We didn't get to settle our bill until midnight. I have never spent 3.5 hours in restaurant in life. Through out the night we asked to speak to the manager several times. The manager was "to busy" to speak with us about our awful experience. Instead, the assistant manager was sent to our table. The assistant manager did absolutely nothing to make our party of Fifteen's dining experience better. She either didn't care or didn't have the authority to make it better. This place is completely out of touch with the overall customer experience. Do not go here to dine unless you like poorly managed, slow kitchen staff having establishments! read more

The place is beautiful. The amount of time, money and creative energy infused in every detail of the restaurant's remodeling is truly awe inspiring. From the dark hardwood floors, sleek white table tops to intricate fabrics on the chairs and handmade stained glass mirrors in the bathroom, the 13th floor bleeds beauty. It LOOKS WAAAY better than it ever has. Now to the food.. we're on a bit of a diet so I really couldn't experiment as much as I would have liked. However, we started with the scallops and risotto and they was delicious. The scallops were cooked PERFECTLY. The sweet pea risotto with mushrooms was a delicious accompaniment. And like the restaurant itself, the dish was a marvel to look at. We also ordered the ahi tuna soft shell tacos and grilled asparagus. Both were simple, fresh and light. The only thing I sent back were the brussel sprouts because they were tasteless and steamed (not grilled as indicated on the menu). We had the flour-less chocolate cake for dessert, which was also light and tasty. The food did take a while but it was worth the wait. I would have also liked to have had a few more options to select from. Now to the service. In short, its EXCELLENT. Out waiter was attentive, our hostess was extremely kind and the manager (Chris) was over the top friendly. The BEST aspect of the evening was the FREE Jazz. It began promptly at 10pm and went until 1am. On Friday we saw the Sara Jones trio, who were incredible. It was an added perk to the evening and really made it worthwhile. After all, where can you go and enjoy jazz without paying a cover? No where! As for all of the negative reviews about this place... I think their unjustified. I notice alot of people complained about being kicked out of the 13th floor because of the way they dressed Al I can say is, what's wrong with having a dress code? If it keeps the rats out, then its a good thing. Plus, I like making an effort to appear as though I bathe regularly and press my pants. If you want to be around a bunch of gangsters or whiny hippie idiots, go somewhere else.The 13th floor wants to be classy and if it means telling people they can't where their pants below their ankles then so be it! read more

Yes I gave this place one star . The food took over 45 minutes minutes to come out . Once the food came out it was warm not even hot . We asked could they possible hear the food up . They said they would but we was then told they had to recook everything . We then had to request for some bread . Usually when you go to a restaurant that's the first thing that is given out . Once we received our bread they didn't bring us any butter to go along with it . It took over 30 minutes for the new plate of food to even come out . The service here was overall horrible and I would not recommend this place to anyone . Also if you do decide to come here make sure you bring your own seasoning because the food didn't have any at all . read more

From the 1st phone call till the end of my event, everything was top notch. Everyone we spoke to and came into contact with was extremely friendly, professional, and accommodating. My boyfriend and I went in August and had a wonderful time. It was advised that we make reservations, but when we went it was almost empty, so that was unnecessary. However, it was also early, around 6 or 7pm, so that may be why. I will say that it isn't the QUICKEST service we have ever had, but our waitress was courteous and friendly. And with such great views, we weren't in a hurry at all. We are generally laid back at restaurants, never in a rush, so we had no problem with service time. Plus, we purposely planned to go around sunset time for the view, so with our initial drinks and our conversation, we were happily entertained. He had the steak mw and it was delish! I had the shrimp and lobster risotto...good, but not as good as his steak. The appetizer of mussels wasn't very good, I will probably not get it again. The smell was a bit off putting. The pianist, Tommy Joy, really was a joy. My boyfriend had a request and he graciously played it. His lady accompaniment had a wonderful voice. They were friendly, spoke to us, engaged the audience. We even had a dance or two on the floor. It was a lovely time. We planned on going back for his birthday in December, but it looks like the menu has changed and steak isn't an option for the winter food choices. So we will probably just go for happy hour sometime soon, to enjoy Tommy Joy again. PS - if you go to the bathroom, take your phone with you. They have cool mirrors to take selfies in lol. read more

Let me tell you about the 13th Floor. This is THE spot to take a date. whether it is the first date of the 20th year anniversary. The place is amazing I had reservations to take my fiance here on Valentine's day, but unfortunately military needs took over and I had to stay late at work. The staff was very accommodating in rescheduling me for the next night. The manager was very polite and sincere. They did everything I asked including having flowers and drinks at the table upon arriving. The waiters and other staff were on point and never missed a beat. The best food and bear I have ever had was here. The scenery was amazing. You have 360 degree view of the city. It was a quiet atmosphere and very relaxing. There was a pianist playing and singing in the corner which made it even better The whole meal was very pricy, but worth it to impress my lady. I think we left right as a large group showed up. I'm not sure If I would want to be there if it became too loud. I have not been there on a weekend. I am interested in seeing how that would be. read more

Located in historic Belvedere Hotel in the stunning view of the 13th Floor overlooking the city, 13th Floor should be a gem. But it's not. We wanted to like it, wanted to enjoy cocktails and a nice meal, wanted to enjoy live jazz music. Beautiful view, average cocktails, limited wine list, good appetizers, poor entrees and poor service. Arriving in the connected garage, it was a sketchy entrance to the hotel through run down passageway and poorly lit garage. We arrived to the pleasant hostess at the elevators and were told the staff was running late as a result of a private party ending. The start of our night out was slow. We finally were able to go upstairs and were thrilled with the room, dimly lit, cool vibe, and incredible window views of the city. Seated at a booth by the window, we were excited to experience the 13th Floor. The waitress greeted us in a pleasant manner but offered no passion or comments about the menu. We ordered cocktails- a south side and a Belvedere gimlet. The South Side was different- gin with earl grey infused tea and a fresh sprig of rosemary. The Belvedere gimlet was a sweet/spicy combination of vodka, raspberry lime and habernaro syrup. We sat with our drinks for several minutes before the bread arrived and several more before our order being taken. My husband inquired about the steak- which was being offered instead of the menu item of short ribs which was not available. The waitress did not know what kind of steak it was and offered no description. We had to wait several more minutes for her to tell us the price. The highlight and star of the evening was the appetizer- duck fat fries. In hindsight, It would have been best to order just that and call it an evening. We wanted to order wine with dinner and noted a limited cheap selection of wine. However, the Jacob cabernet and the offered Merlot were tasty. Our entrees arrived long after we were finished with the appetizer. The steak was a failure- thin, tasteless, and poor quality. The Vegetarian Napolean- a stack of mushroom, eggplant, roasted red bell pepper and fresh mozzarella and drizzled with balsamic reduction and arugula would have been delicious but was cold. We didn't bother sending anything back- but should have. Observing the surrounding table, we noticed two entrees being returned to the kitchen. For desert, we ordered a molten cake to share. It was tasty but average. Service was poor- our waitress went missing for long periods of time, especially while waiting for our check. We finally settled and were waiting for the elevator to leave when she approached us with the news she gave us the wrong check and needed our credit card back. It was not a good ending. On a good note, the music was very nice- a duo singing Frank Sinatra style jazz with piano. This would be a fun spot to visit but sadly, it fell way flat. And for the expensive pricing, I expect amazing, which it was not. read more

Does anyone remember that early 90's horror movie called Nightmare on the 13th Floor? It's about a boarded up, secret 13th floor in a creepy old hotel where a bunch of people were murdered. That's all I could think about going up in the elevator. Well, thankfully, this lounge is neither a secret nor homicidal. We showed up Salsa Saturday. Grooved to some sweet tunes and enjoyed the wonderful view of B'more. The crowd is a bit older, more tame. A nice, relaxing place to enjoy a drink and enjoy the music. There was a $5 cover, but, by gum, the price was right compared to any lounge in DC. For five folks with two rounds of drinks, the bill came to $55. Hot dog! TIP: Stay away from the $5 drink specials. In our case, it was Blue Margaritas and Long Island Ice Teas. The drinks are cheap enough to buy full-price. On second though, stay away from these two drinks for any reason. read more
