The painted ladies of Fells Point, last 4 wooden houses from early 1800s.
    Gary V.

Excellent food tour, mixed in with some history of Fells Point, a pivotal part of the US victory during the War of 1812. I'm not sure if the tour always incorporates the same restaurants, but the 4 we visited were all delicious. We were met at a park In Fells Point by Zach, who gave us a rundown of the afternoon's activities and said our guide, Simone, would be meeting us at the first restaurant. Simone was outstanding, very knowledgeable and personable, great charisma. It's easy to tell she enjoys what she is doing, and anyone who gets her as their guide is very fortunate. First stop was Chilango, a Mexican restaurant/tequila bar. Street taco was excellent, and guacamole some of the best I've had. Drinks were also very good. Next was The Point, a popular place for seafood and pub fare, where we had the house rum punch and were served a sampler size crab cake and steamed vegetables. Crab cake was very good, but not the best Baltimore has to offer. Our next stop was to Broadway Market and Thai Street, one of the booths inside the market. Some chicken drunken noodles were very tasty, as well as a sample of one of their teas. Finally we ended up at Pitango Bakery where we were given a selection of pastries and a charcuterie selection. The pastries were very European style, sweet but not laden with sugar and icing like many American places. They have great coffee, too. The tour is highly recommended and a great way to spend an afternoon.

I just moved to Maryland from Brooklyn for work and wanted to explore Baltimore one weekend and learn about some of the history of the area, since I had never been there before. However, I quickly discovered that Baltimore does not have a lot of traditional walking tour options available. Which is how I discovered this tour. For someone like me, this tour was a bit on the expensive side. I set a certain amount in my budgeting for going out and exploring on the weekend each month. However, I figured that this was the best way to experience Baltimore history and there was also food, which was a plus. After going on this Fell's Point tour, I highly recommend it. For those who want to make a day of experiencing the city: I recommend seeing the aquarium as well (which was expensive and has no discounts, but very, very beautiful) and then heading over. You honestly only need an hour for the aquarium. I learned that Baltimore Harbor is very much not like NYC and it has very little shading. Also, the museums are scattered extremely far from each other. You will get sunburnt easily! Take sunscreen and apply often!!! The tour: The meet up spot was easy to find. For anyone else who has no clue what a "pagoda" is for the meet up point, it's like a gazebo. There was a mix-up the afternoon of our tour. The tour manager was able to quickly fix it, however. He actually gave us the tour himself. We visited 4 different spots with different ethnic food. He also showed us spots of historical significance in the area and gave us a great historical background of Fell's Point. I'm not going to spoil that here for you. It was very interesting and I learned a lot. A note before attending: I didn't eat lunch that day because another post had stated that the portions were large. Also, I couldn't find any place for a quick grab-and-go as I was exploring the city (I feel very uncomfortable eating alone in a restaurant as a single woman). Do not make this mistake!!! Eat lunch before you head out! The food: The food was very good. I ate and enjoyed everything. You meet at 3 PM. So, this is effectively an early dinner. 1st stop -- Mexican food. We had a beef taco that was not spicy with a small appetizer that tasted like lightly fried corn bread. It was very yummy! We got plenty of water to drink as well as chips and guacamole. 2nd stop -- Traditional Baltimore. We had a fresh fruit salad along with a crab cake and broccoli. The crab cake was clean and fresh. It was very good. I'm Sicilian-American; so, I eat a lot of fish. This was very good crab. We got bottles of water here as well as a choice of alcoholic beverage. 3rd stop -- Thai. We stopped at this small food hall next. We got a container with rice, some vegetables, and a mixture of chicken, beef, and one shrimp. I don't like shrimp, but luckily the taste of shrimp did not permeate throughout the dish. It was not spicy and it had a sweet-savory sauce. We also had Thai tea. Very tasty. 4th stop -- Dessert. At the last stop, we were allowed to order a coffee of our choice and we shared a dessert platter. I only like chocolate desserts and I was glad to see that there were chocolate chip cookies there. I ordered a Dirty Chai Tea. This place was ok. The best part of it was the drink. I definitely recommend this tour for your solo or group travels. Due to the lack of shading in the Baltimore Harbor area, I recommend visiting on a cloudy day or sometime not in the summer if possible so as to not get sunburned. It's a long tour but there's not a lot of walking involved for those who are worried.

We saw historic sites like the Lloyd street synagogue, Corned beef row, the Carroll Mansion, Reginald F. Lewis museum, and birthplace of the Star spangled banner flag. It was about a 3.5 hour walking tour and there were intermittent breaks to eat in restaurants. Before this tour I had no idea there was a 'Little Italy' or a 'Corned beef row' and how much history these places had from the restaurants started by immigrants in the 1800s. It also makes a difference having an enthusiastic group and getting to know everyone. This tour is highly recommended.

The day before the event you get an e-mail with a zoom meeting invite for the actual event, along with some instructions so you are ready when the class starts. Our Instructors were Mike and Kevin, they meeting started on time and while the is some downtime while the water boils and the grains steep Mike and Kevin kept things interesting with helpful hints and tips, Brewing history, the reasons why you are going what you are doing at a certain time, what happens when you do certain things, why those things are good, bad or necessary and what to expect in the next two weeks while you are waiting for your beer to finish. There were some questions from our group and Mike answered them all, he was very knowledgeable about beer and the process of making beer. While I don't think I will become a master brewer and take up brewing as a full time hobby I did very much enjoy the experience and found it very informative and educational . If you like beer, or even if you are not a huge fan (yes we had one in our group and he enjoyed the class as well) I would highly recommend trying this type of event at least once, just so you know a little more about beer. Based on my experience with this home brew event I would be very willing to attend one of City Brew Tours in person events when things open back up again. (And when I'm in a city they serve) Highly recommended just for the fun of it or if you want to try brewing but are afraid to go it alone the first time. 5 Stars for the event 10 stars for Mike and Kevin
