Still my favorite Indian restaurant in London. Been coming here for 6 years and the staff is always friendly and attentive

    Moon J.

A cozy & intimate atmosphere. Food was phenomenal - we had samosas, butter chicken & another curry with ginger which had a very lovely spice. The service was amazing! Very friendly and attentive staff - they were genuine and made the experience enjoyable. Will definitely return when we get the chance.

    Great Food!

My most favorite restaurant in London or anywhere! Fantastic service, the best food and wonderful service and atmosphere!

There is limited seating so be sure to make reservations. We've eaten at this restaurant about ten times in the last two years. When making reservations, request upstairs seating. This is not a great restaurant to bring small children or babies. The kutchoomer salad is a great way to start. It is comprised of diced apples, onions, cucumbers, lemon juice and parsley. It is so refreshing. The chicken skewer is spicy but comes with a dipping sauce that calms it down. Mukhun murgh is our favorite dish that is basically cooked white meat chicken cut into chucks and simmered in a rich curry sauce. We also order garlic naan bread and pileu rice. We've tried the lamb and beef and the chicken is the best.

This place was fantastic! The setting was beautiful and intimate. We started with samosas and a fried shrimp dish. For our entrees, we ordered the mix grill (lamb and chicken), lamb saag, naan and basmati rice. Everything was the delicious and the staff was friendly.

    So well spiced

So tasty! We came here on a rainy Saturday for lunch, mostly due to proximity to our destination, but this could be a destination in itself. The server was opinionated about what was good and what wasn't (we did ask) and helped us select a fantastic combination of dishes. We weren't starving, so ordered two curries and one rice as we figured that would be enough. Took our first bites and immediately ordered some naan as well. Not due to hunger, but just because we knew we'd want to mop up every last drop of sauce we could. It's not cheap, but for us it was totally worth it!

Underwhelming and rather empty at 6pm on a Monday. Came in for dinner alone, and only one other couple in the front of the restaurant and the chef in the back working on his Mac. The food was ok, but nothing breathtaking (had the til mil jheenga - two fried shrimp with a rather basic hot sauce; mukhun murgh - their version of chicken tikka masala, naan and basmati rice). Try something else if you want extraordinary.

This restaurant was recommended to me by someone who comes here whenever they're in London and it did not disappoint. There is indoor and outdoor seating, and the restaurant is very busy/popular. I decided to have lunch on my own and there was about a 15 minute wait. All of the staff I interacted with were very kind, and the inside of the restaurant is dimly lit so it sets a cool and intimate vibe. It's a very vibrant atmosphere. The menu had so many delicious options to choose from. I went with the vegetable samosas to start and a fresh nimbu soda which was very refreshing. For my main dish I had the chicken ruby and a said of garlic naan. Everything was so incredibly fresh. The food was served as soon as it was done being prepared and the flavors were immaculate!!!! 10 out of 10! No notes! And I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking. We managed to snag a reservation here before coming to London on a Saturday around 6:30 PM. We got there right on time and and our table was ready immediately. We had great booth in the back of the restaurant so it wasn't too loud. We all ordered some drinks when we sat down and opted for a Kingfisher to drink. For appetizers, we got some samosas and chili chicken which were delicious! They also gave us some of these rice crackers with different sauces which were delicious. For our entrees, we got some biryani, ruby chicken and rice, malai chicken, the gunpowder potatoes and 3 orders of naan! It was all delicious! The biryani with the yogurt sauce is my personal favorite but their garlic naan is great too. For dessert, we got the chocolate cake and I opted for the chai to end the meal which was delicious! This meal was stunning and you must stop by Dishoom while in London.

For me, Gymkhana absolutely lived up to the hype. Although they offer a set lunch menu, I went à la carte to try exactly what I wanted: Chicken Butter Masala, an Indian Onion & Green Chilli Salad, and Garlic Naan (which I appreciated they offer in single pieces). For drinks, I started with their signature Masala Margarita, paired the meal with a Salty Masala Lassi, and finished with a Masala Chai. It was more food than I usually eat, but it was too good not to finish. Every dish was outstanding--bold, layered flavors with distinct character. It really highlighted how exceptional Indian cuisine can be. The drinks had creative twists and complemented the food beautifully. Service was warm, attentive, and efficient without ever feeling formal or rushed. I could tell the staff would gladly accommodate special requests if needed. It was all very deserving of its two Michelin stars. Total bill: GBP 94 including drinks, service, etc. One tip for first-time visitors: go easy on the rice and bread. The other dishes are far too good to fill up on carbs.

It's just I think this establishment gets so much hype for what it is. This location is particularly historic as it was built on a trade spot between Indians and the British; the place maintains most of the architecture from more than 100 years ago. Service here is pretty good too. We walked in on a Sunday afternoon and were able to get high table seatings.

As soon as you walk in, they offer to hang your coat. The young lady who was our server for the evening gave us the best recommendations--I wish I knew her name. They had the perfect amount of grill flavor and were very saucy and well seasoned. There was no classy way to eat them--they were that good. For our entrées, we ordered the goat shoulder and the half rack of lamb chops. The half rack is more than enough for one person, especially with naan and rice. The reviewers were not lying when they said you must try the lamb chops. They came out sizzling, and we laughed because it took us back to dining at Chili's (iykyk). Perfectly seasoned and incredibly tender. The same goes for the goat shoulder. This was my first time trying it, and I was very impressed with how good it tasted. While I'm not usually a dessert person, you must try the carrot pastry. Think of it like a McDonald's apple pie (the old-school one), but with warm carrot filling on the inside and a sprinkle of pistachio on the outside--just 10x better. Everything here tasted spectacular, including the chili naan. Can't wait to come back and try more dishes.
