The ambiance of the bar area, through to the dining room is one of sophisticated elegance. Our server Sunit is a true professional, and made us feel at home, treated us like VIPs. Of course, we started with cocktails. For my wife, a gin martini, beers for my son and me. The main courses were the star of the show. Our son enjoyed the Butter Chicken, my wife had Afghani Chicken Tikka, and I went with the Lobster, all outstanding. We shared Dal, amazing, and another chicken dish, for which the names escapes me. What an absolutely wonderful experience, this is on my top three list of restaurants in London. China Tang being number one and number three still to be decided...! We had the chefs menu, I'm always a bit hesitant to tasting menus, because you are served so much food, but this was absolutely perfect. The amount of food, the mixture of flavors and texture, the speed with what they where brought out was everything you could wish for. We chose the wine pairing and I definitely recommend that as well. Arrived a little early and enjoyed the new spice old fashion and the Lychee rose martini in the bar upstairs. Such a beautiful space, a great start to what would end up being a wonderful evening. The restaurant was very busy but the noise level was still good, the service was lovely thru out the entire night. I got the spicy butter chicken, rice, and paratha. They had an order minimum of 60 a person. For 60 I expected a bit more but portions were tiny and it certainly was not spicy. Chutney Mary was one of my favorite meals in London, and I would go as far as saying one of the best dine-in experiences for Indian food. Can't say that I've even had fine dining at an Indian restaurant, so Chutney Mary set the standard high. The customer service wasn't that great though. Servers were hospitable, sure, but not attentive at all. The food, however, exceeded my expectations and was downright fantastic. We ordered everything as family style, so that we could share. We ordered two appetizers of crispy fried chicken and vegetable samosas, 2 entrees of shrimp curry and butter kitchen, a couple of orders of naan, side of basmati rice, and a side of saag with paneer. All excellent. Only thing that I thought was average was the sticky toffee pudding. Chutney Mary put their spin on it with Indian flavors, but I would've much rather preferred an original version. I can't say enough about how wonderful our experience was at this restaurant. We are on a girls' week vacation to London doing all the touristy things. Our guide suggested Chutney Mary for dinner after a long afternoon of sight seeing. We were initially a bit surprised by the £60 minimum per person but got over it pretty quickly when we started eating. We ordered the veggie samosas to start and they were fabulous. I offered lamb as my main meal, and I truly believe it was the best lamb I've ever had. It was rich and incredibly flavorful with all the herbs in the coating. The sweet mint sauce was a perfect accompaniment. The vibe in this restaurant is very modern and high end. It's much larger than it first appears with a room towards the back. Service was excellent. As dinner portions were ordered the highly tauted Butter Chicken - lacked depth. The Lamb and the Drunken Chicken. The ambiance of this restaurant is cozy and the lighting is immaculate. I would highly recommend coming her on a first date and I did notice lots of large groups so it seems that they're able to accommodate groups. I would get a reservation if you have more than 6 people! The food was *chefs kiss* absolutely amazing. There's so many complex layers to each dish and it was the best food I've had in London thus far. The drinks are also great. I recommend trying a few as there's many different wonderful options. I gave a 4 star review because the service was slow, I went solo to the restaurant and it took me two hours from start to finish. When I asked for the check I ended up waiting almost 30 minutes for someone to bring it over. I was waiting with no food and no drink at that point. I wanted to get home and felt that bringing over the check shouldn't take 30 minutes. Otherwise, great restaurant, amazing food & drinks. The food all came out to high expectations including the drinks. Service was very attentive and the ambiance was just something else. Stopped here for dinner on a bank holiday Monday. Arranged via the concierge at the Corinthia hotel. I was seated right on time at 6 when they opened. Good friendly service and a welcoming atmosphere. Decor is quite nice as well. I started off with a mock tail which was a cucumber elderflower drink. It was served over crushed ice. Too sweet for my taste but as the ice melted it got better. App was a 4 tandoori artichoke hearts which were soft and delicate and flavorful. Great choice I could have had 8! Main was butter chicken. Perfect sized portion and sauce was spot on. Very silky and tasty. Garlic naan and rice were required to use up the extra butter sauce. Also each was delicious in its own right. Omg Yes Chutney Mary! I sort of wanted to go back again during my short visit but I didn't think my friend wouldn't let me repeat a restaurant. I had this hibiscus martini that had champagne in it. It was amazing. So much so that I had to. Then later I just had to dance to Beyoncé's Cuff it because 2 was probably too much. We ordered a crab appetizer which was more like a deconstructed Indian spiced crab cake. It didn't come with a chip or a piece of bread so we were sort of uncertain how to eat it. We were not crazy about this. However, the samosas were so good. Very flavorful but we did not get many on an order and they were shaped like sushi hand roll cones instead of the traditional shape. The butter chicken was amazing. I had it with basmati rice and fried cauliflower. The fried cauliflower was not so fried but coated with a paste that was spicy. Still it was good but not exactly what I expected. My friend got a seafood grill. She said it was good except the prawns were mushy. We also got the plane naan and the chili butter naan. The chili butter naan was spicy but not soggy as I expected. So both of those were very good as well. We also ordered dessert and sorbet and a gelato. My friend had the honeycomb and dark chocolate and I had the dark chocolate and vanilla. Both of these were very good and just the perfect ending! I would definitely visit again.
