    This was an utterly spectacular experience from the moment I arrived at the doors. Keep in mind this is a place at a high price point, but the experience and food truly are worth every penny. The staff here is MARVELOUS. I initially wanted to sit outside on a nice afternoon that had a light chance of rain forecasted - I was indeed sat there but kindly was moved indoors when that rain chance increased suddenly. And throughout our short meal they were absolutely awesome. The aromas coming from the kitchen were appealing and downright mouth-watering. The duck chutney seekh starter was truly memorable. The sommelier went over some wine options with me and was very helpful in offering options that would pair nicely with the menu items I was considering. The menu suggests pairing options for each menu item, but the somm helped suggest bottles to tie everything together. Ultimately we had several delectable starters here and at least 2.5 bottles of excellent wine prior to a theatre engagement, but I truly look forward to returning for a full meal.

    We went for lunch and got the 3 course tasting menu for £50. It is well worth it for a Michelin star restaurant. The food is incredibly good: intensely flavorful and perfectly prepared. It is the best South Indian meal I have ever had. I started with the soft shell crab. The crab is pretty standard: very similar to a deep fried soft shell crab in any cuisine. But there's a side preparation of crab meat mixed with curry and a really subtle sauce that you dip the crab in. This was pretty good, and probably the dish that was the least distinctive. I next had the Bream. The Bream was perfectly cooked and an excellent piece of fish; it was moist and flaky. It was covered with a cilantro and green chili paste that was had a complex and savory flavor, and that had a heat that snuck up on me. It was outstanding. This was my second favorite dish. My favorite dish came in the 3rd course. The baby Aubergine with peanuts was insane. The eggplant was a little Smokey, and the peanuts gave it a very deep flavor. The contrast in texture between the eggplant and peanuts was also wonderful. Bonus prize also goes to makai palak (spinach with corn), which was a complementary side dish but almost stole the show from the aubergines. In addition, the restaurant is very charming. The dining room is cozy, yet also bustling with diners coming in and out. The service is also quite good. My water glass was always full, and our servers checked in on us often.

    They got me in for an hour last minute. Was recommended to get the brown crab curry with lemon curry rice which was delicious. However the crab curry had 4 shells left in it. Chai was mid...basically get 2 percent or semi skimmed milk, add masala chai and crushed ginger and you will get the same consistency and flavor. I prefer my chai thicker so longer on the stove. Kheer was a rice pudding with pistachio, apricot slice that was grilled and apricot jam which wasn't too sweet. Small restaurant with about 10 tables. If I were to come back, I would only order the crab curry.

    This is Michelin star Indian restaurant in London. We booked the early dinner reservation where you can go for 4 course tasting menu for £55 which is a great deal. Everything was delicious and service was spot on! I loved their take on old fashioned (see pic for more details) Their rasmalai dessert with Kunafa was a delicious twist. Service was outstanding!

    Hands down our favorite London meal on our 5 day trip. If you are mad you can't get into gymkhana or brigadiers give Trishna a chance -- you won't be disappointed. Just about everything was 5 stars. Service and food were so memorable. Enough gushing, here's the details on what we enjoyed: Lychee martini: delicious and light. Not overly sweet and light on alcohol; the curry leaf is a pleasant surprise Jal jeera old fashioned: very sippable, hubby loved and wants to learn to make it at home now Corn and coconut tikki: the sweet coconut and corn, the curry leaf, the daal, the crunchy exterior and smooth interior -- this is a revelation and a must get. The cheese isn't strictly necessary in there so I pulled it out but it isn't harmful either. Do as you wish with the cheese but DO get this dish. Prawns chukka: brilliant, spicy, and bold. A flavor bomb. Keep the water handy but even then you won't actually be able to stop eating because each bit is better than the last. Prawns are plentiful and cooked perfectly. Baby aubergine vangathal: out-effing standing. Smokey baingan, cooked in this robust sauce with the crunch and "something special" from Peanuts and plenty of curry leaves. Goes best with the roti. Breads: the bread basket is good but not worth it for 2, get an order of roti you be just fine. Lemon rice: such a simple dish that other places may forget to put in the effort. It legit takes like 15 minutes to make at home. This tasted JUST like home and I really appreciate that. Chettinad potato roast: again, fantastic. Not for the faint of heart. Spice to potato ratio was perfect and the Chettinad spice mix tasted authentic. Cashew and pepper chicken: hubby was blown away. Sweating and wiping his brow but -- blown away. Spicy for sure so get a hold of some raita to cool things down. Alphonso mango malai: Creamy mango malai, sweet/tart mango lassi, sweet mango pieces = mango dream. Wonderful end to a wonderful meal.

    If you drew a Venn diagram with a circle that said 'local curry house' and another one that said 'fine dining', the bit in the middle would be taken up by Trishna and more power to them for it. This middle ground means you are treated to seriously haut cuisine in a place that is warm and friendly if a little bit idiosyncratic in its layout. You can quite happily forego the extensive and well picked wine list for big bottles of Cobra along with portions of food which are expertly conceived and delivered but also generous, plentiful, abundant, groaning, all those words that make you feel warm and fuzzy inside when you think of going out for an Indian. Townhouses in Marylebone are narrow and higgledy piggledy and don't make for statement restaurants. And so it is with Trishna. We stand with two other couples in a waiting area as big as a small lift. We stand stiff and gaze at our shoes, no touching, no eye contact. Assistance is soon with us and very pleasant it is too. We weave our way through rooms and corridors and end up in our own corridor on a table that's too big for the space and the seating arrangement too small for the three of us not to be knocking knees throughout our stay. If you don't mind all that, you're in for a treat. The well chosen wine list gets scant viewing. Cobras all round. The big bottles. The menu is familiar in one regard only. Plenty of choice. Part of the fun of a good Indian is being crippled by choice. The choice here isn't mad but there's enough to get our brains fired up. Koliwada squid and shrimp, Partridge pepper fry and Nandu Varuvan are duly ordered. Nandu Varuvan is soft shell crab, served whole. Not pretty but very inviting. The batter is light and the taste is good. Partridge pepper makes good use of the game that's knocking around at this time of year. Copious amounts of pepper add warmth and the partridge can take it, Squid and shrimp are done with care. The chilli and peanut chutney lift things further. Because we're out for an Indian we also order some lamb chops from the tandoor. Two in a portion but an extra one added for us at their suggestion which is indicative of their attitude. There to please. What comes out are three of the plumpest lamb chops you've ever seen. They are bravely burnished in perfect fashion, if burning something can ever be described as that. It looks beautiful. And on cutting into the meat we discover impossibly juicy pink flesh underneath. The fat's rendered but the flesh has received just the right amount of heat.Trishna may be posh but nobody is going to stop us from gnawing the bones and making a mess. That's where Trishna wins. Top class fare, curry house vibes. Perfect combo. Mains are punchy. Lobster Cabral comes with a thick coriander sauce which sets off the sweetness beautifully. A whole tail with the shell used as decoration. A real treat. Beef short rib coconut fry is deep and rich and chocolate brown. The meat is holding but tender. Cashew and pepper chicken again utilises the warmth of that spice very well. All the dishes are pretty enough to look at but delicious enough to destroy. The duck Keema naan is skilfully done but perhaps a little too considered. Thin stiff boards of fried bread sandwich minced duck breast. It doesn't really work as a traditional accompaniment, you could order that and eat it by itself as a hearty lunch. Pudding. Nobody eats Indian puddings. Fact. That's all covered off by the chocolates you get with the bill. Trishna duly obliges. We love the familiarity. We leave lighter of pocket, lighter of spirit and much much heavier of body. Our tongues are dancing all the way home. Extremely well executed food in the heart of Marylebone delivering that unmistakeable feeling that you thought only your local curry house could.

    As The first Michelin starred Indian restaurant and one of the most long standing I'm aware of - perhaps my expectations were a little too lofty. While the dining experience was positive there weren't as many call out dishes as I would expect for a restaurant with this level of pedigree. The space is cute and the western ghats tasting was great- the amount of food provided was more than an enough. We left incredibly stuffed. The desserts and appetizers wooed me far more than the mains, and the service was nice but not exceptional. I am definitely glad that I gave this spot a try but I am not dying to come back if that makes sense.

    Trishna has a really nicely decorated and welcoming interior. The ceilings are definitely way too short, not saying much coming from me as I have this problem a lot, but this restaurant was noticeably a little bit claustrophobic throughout its entirety. Service was spotty -- sometimes they would come refill my water right away, and other times I would finish and refill my own glass 3 times before they even noticed I needed more water. I even went a full course without having any water as I couldn't get anyone and nobody was refilling my bottle. Timing between the courses was very inconsistent. I feel like the dishes were so colorful and had so much going on, but still nothing stood out to me as great. I feel like they got TOO creative, to their disadvantage, and sacrificed taste for aesthetics of the food. It was definitely a good meal, but nothing to write home about.

    Following the theme of trying Indian cuisine in London, I booked a reservation at Trishna for dinner on the first day that I got to the UK. Compared to some other Michelin-star restaurants like Gymkhana, there were a lot more available slots for Trishna so it was pretty easy to get a spot here. The interior is on the smaller side, but it is nicely decorated and the staff were able to let me be seated around 20 minutes earlier since I got there ahead of schedule. I decided to go with the tasting menu, which included a partridge pepper fry, tandoori venison, half lobster ghee roast, and the valhrona manjari chocolate chikki. For one person this was a lot of food, so definitely make sure not too eat much beforehand! Although all of these dishes were excellent, the real stand-out dishes to me were the partridge pepper fry and the lobster ghee roast. The paratha the partridge was on was crispy and flaky, while the partridge itself was bursting in flavor due to the spices on it. The lobster roast was actually amazing, and probably is one of the best versions of lobster I've eaten in my life. It was cooked exquisitely, and Indian flavors really go well with seafood to enhance the taste. Overall, Trishna is a must-eat in London if you want to explore the Indian culinary scene here.

    The Food: Trishna's Lamb Chop is my favorite dish of all time; smoky, and falling off the bone, it is so good it stays in my mind long after leaving Trishna. This is a beautiful dish at a beautiful establishment. Trishna's walls are decorated with historic posters of Indian airlines to give the establishment a cool vintage travel theme. The vibe: Both perfect for a special dinner with friends (it was my birthday) or a fancy first date - either way everyone will be impressed. The service: It is excellent. Not only was the staff warm and friendly but they helped my friends and I navigate their menu to ensure we explored enough of their offerings. While I live in New York I will surely be back anytime I am in London.

    One of the best restaurant experiences I've had in the UK. Food was spectacular, service was great, and the restaurant was lovely inside. I don't think you could choose a wrong item on the menu. The appetizers were especially delicious. I could not write enough good things about Trishna. I can't wait to go back!

    We went to Trishna while visiting London. I was able to get an early dinner reservation last minute so when we arrived we were one of the first ones. Service was amazing! Everyone was friendly and knowledgeable. The inside of the restaurant was cozy and inviting. I liked the artwork they had throughout. We tried the Chemmeen Manga Curry [Vannamei prawn, coconut, green mango, Malabar tamarind] & Cashew & Pepper Chicken Curry [roasted coconut & cashew nut, telicherry peppercorn]. We also added a bowl of rice and the naan to split since everything is a la carte. Overall, the curries were amazing and full of flavor. The naan was fresh and delicious too. I do think it is very over-priced though. We left feeling not satisfied with what we paid. The allure of a "Michelin star" is what drew us in but I would have been just as happy food-wise at any other local Indian restaurant (and for less money). If you do go, I would recommend trying one of the tasting menus instead of the a la carte menu. It looked like a better deal with a variety of different plates to try.

    Really great experience dining solo here. The service was impeccable. The papads were crispy and chutneys were flavorful- I wanted to eat the whole box but had to stop myself or I wouldn't be able to eat the rest of the meal. 5/5 Squid & shrimps 5/5: crispy but not oily, tender and not tough Duck chutney seekh 3/5: not super impressive or memorable, it was fine Gongura Lamb 5/5: loved the deep flavor that had been developed. Hard to find this in the US. Really enjoyed the potatoes that came with it as well. The naan was overly salty though. Mango & pistachio kheer 4/5: enjoyable if you like rice pudding

It has to be some of the best Indian food I've had outside of India. The little complimentary chai while you wait in line is such a thoughtful touch and really sets the tone. Even though there was a queue, it moved surprisingly quickly. Once inside, the service was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. As for the food... every dish we ordered was outstanding. Rich flavors, perfectly balanced spices, and you can tell a lot of care goes into every plate. Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. If you're in London, don't overthink it. Just get in line, enjoy the chai, order what sounds good, and have a fantastic meal. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in town.

In my opinion, there are 2 main things to know about Dishoom: it's an Indian restaurant that is a chain, with 11 locations worldwide. The food is really good for a chain, bit it doesn't begin to come close to a restaurant that takes care of of its individual customers. Walking in, there's lots of energy. People are having a good time, there's no question. We were seated upstairs where there must have been around 40 tables. All of the staff are walking around in a hurry, cause everything here is in a hurry. The intention is to get you our in less than an hour. They want you in, through, and out. I saw this with multiple tables. Our server Yanko came to our table quite promptly and helped us make selections, both for food and drinks. For the first time in my experience eating in a restaurant, the appetizers arrived minutes before our cocktails. They came so fast that we didn't even think it was our order. And then moments after the drinks arrived, all of the main dishes and sides were placed on the table. With no way to keep anything warm. All of this with 10 minutes of placing the order. I appreciate prompt service, but this takes it to an absurd extreme. Our appetizers included the house Chaat and prawn koliwada. I enjoyed the prawns more but the flavors were facile, not close to what I expect and have enjoyed in excellent Indian restaurants. The main dishes were the Goan monkfish curry and Sali Goan. These were also just OK, absolutely nothing special. The cheese naan was soggy, though the flavor was good. This was an unacceptable texture for a naan. Dessert was Basmati Kheer, flavorful Basmati rice with fruit compote on top. In between and unneeded, was a thin layer of creme brulee. I did enjoy my tea: ginger, lemon and honey and my wife liked her mint tea. I do not know the restaurant scene in Edinburgh, we've been here for 4 days. But this is just not a place I'deven consider returning to. It's really a factory that feeds folks, not a restaurant that cares for its customers. The business model had been optimized to maximize income with lots of throughput. What's been almost completely lost in my opinion, is the heart and soul of the dining experience.

The menu had so many delicious options to choose from. I went with the vegetable samosas to start and a fresh nimbu soda which was very refreshing. For our entrees, we got some biryani, ruby chicken and rice, malai chicken, the gunpowder potatoes and 3 orders of naan! It was all delicious! The biryani with the yogurt sauce is my personal favorite but their garlic naan is great too. For dessert, we got the chocolate cake and I opted for the chai to end the meal which was delicious! This meal was stunning and you must stop by Dishoom while in London.

For me, Gymkhana absolutely lived up to the hype. Although they offer a set lunch menu, I went à la carte to try exactly what I wanted: Chicken Butter Masala, an Indian Onion & Green Chilli Salad, and Garlic Naan (which I appreciated they offer in single pieces). For drinks, I started with their signature Masala Margarita, paired the meal with a Salty Masala Lassi, and finished with a Masala Chai. It was more food than I usually eat, but it was too good not to finish. Every dish was outstanding--bold, layered flavors with distinct character. It really highlighted how exceptional Indian cuisine can be. The drinks had creative twists and complemented the food beautifully. Service was warm, attentive, and efficient without ever feeling formal or rushed. I could tell the staff would gladly accommodate special requests if needed. It was all very deserving of its two Michelin stars. Total bill: GBP 94 including drinks, service, etc. One tip for first-time visitors: go easy on the rice and bread. The other dishes are far too good to fill up on carbs.

The waitress went back and redlined the menu to show what he could have, what he couldn't, and what they might be able to alter. Super nice and it didn't take more than a few minutes. As for the food, a-maz-ing Indian. I recommend their prawn special - not too spicy but very flavor forward. The naan was a nice side to order as well. This location is fairly big with seating on the main floor, downstairs, and outside in a cover lounge area. We had a reservation, although they probably could have handled us if we didn't. That said, it was a busy weekend and the place looked fairly full by the time we left, so maybe grab a reservation. Enjoy!

INSIDE Spacious, clean, and plenty of seating both upstairs and down. MENU For larger parties, they recommend their prefix menu which includes a various sampling of lots of delicious items. FOOD 10/10 I haven't eaten Indian food much, but was thoroughly impressed. From my mango lassi which was perfectly sweetened and tart to buttered buns, fried okra, black Dahl, garlic naan, and lamb skewers, everything was delicious. I esp loved the lamb skewers! We ordered a side of garlic naan with cheese which is basically a quesadilla and it was super cheesy and delicious as well. OVERALL Would def recommend Dishoom when visiting London. It'll definitely be a hit in your books!

As soon as you walk in, they offer to hang your coat. The young lady who was our server for the evening gave us the best recommendations--I wish I knew her name. She was so patient with our many questions and didn't steer us wrong. My friends and I started with the wings as an appetizer. They had the perfect amount of grill flavor and were very saucy and well seasoned. There was no classy way to eat them--they were that good. The reviewers were not lying when they said you must try the lamb chops. They came out sizzling, and we laughed because it took us back to dining at Chili's (iykyk). Perfectly seasoned and incredibly tender. The same goes for the goat shoulder. This was my first time trying it, and I was very impressed with how good it tasted. While I'm not usually a dessert person, you must try the carrot pastry. Think of it like a McDonald's apple pie (the old-school one), but with warm carrot filling on the inside and a sprinkle of pistachio on the outside--just 10x better. The best part of our meal was making new friends with the two young gentlemen at the table next to us. My husband and I were twice their age but we all enjoyed lively conversation and watched the football game together on the television as we sat in the outside garden area. This restaurant was right near Watling street where we pub hopped in the shadow of St. Paul's cathedral. London is magical and Brigadier's is part of that magic.
