Brigadiers will likely be one of the best Indian meals, if not simply meals, you eat in London. Though on the pricier side, the consistently excellent quality of each dish, ambiance, and service all combine to produce a top tier experience that I can't wait to have again next time I'm here.
The restaurant is super easily accessible from the District line; it was a mere three minute walk from Mansion House tube station. I arrived before the rest of my party and was seated at the bar; the bartender and other servers were super friendly and helped provide any information I asked for about the menu and drink options. Once we were seated, we started with cocktails which were all excellent; the Nepalese vodka cocktail and the gin drinks were all great.
For food, we started with the seafood Tellicherry fry and the tandoori chicken skewers which were both very tasty. The chicken was nicely spiced and the array of seafood, including soft shell crab, squid, and shrimp provided good items for us to munch on. After this, the main dish came and we were amazed.
Definitely get the bread basket; all three breads, especially the cheese naan and the roti, were amazing. The chicken biryani was topped with crispy fried onions and mint leaves, the latter of which I've never seen but was such a fun addition. The chicken curry (butter chicken perhaps) was delicious and the chefs managed to elevate a pretty standard dish into a superb one. The dal was very tasty and the green vegetables were a welcome contrast to the richer items we ordered otherwise. Broccoli, peas, and other greens were all present and cooked in a more South Indian style which was highly enjoyable. The shrimp entree was great as well, well seasoned and grilled without any burnt parts. The only entree that wasn't amazing was the paneer, which could have been softer, but it was still quite good.
The food was 10/10, easily, but the ambiance was remarkable as well. The restaurant is divided into various areas including the outdoors, main dining area, and small bar to the side. The music was house music and would have fit well with a rooftop bar or nightclub. Super enjoyable music to go with the food, drinks, and darkened atmosphere and contributed very well to the overall experience. The staff was attentive, made jokes with us, and thoroughly enhanced the experienced. Cannot wait to return next time I'm in London. read more
