Everyone I spoke to prior to our trip to London recommended Dishoom, and they weren't wrong. We had reservations for a late 2pm lunch. We fed the kids beforehand since they're usually a tough crowd to please especially when food has flavor . Free to order what we wanted, we got samosas, ruby chicken, okra fries, black daal, garlic naan, lamb biryani, and aubergine, along with bottomless house chai. It was probably a little too much, but I wanted to try a little of everything. Would definitely come back. Make reservations!

How did I not know Dishoom existed until now? Visiting London from California, this ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. It has to be some of the best Indian food I've had outside of India. The little complimentary chai while you wait in line is such a thoughtful touch and really sets the tone. Even though there was a queue, it moved surprisingly quickly. Once inside, the service was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. As for the food... every dish we ordered was outstanding. Rich flavors, perfectly balanced spices, and you can tell a lot of care goes into every plate. Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. If you're in London, don't overthink it. Just get in line, enjoy the chai, order what sounds good, and have a fantastic meal. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in town.

Dishoom is my all-time favorite Indian restaurant. It has the perfect mix of fusion and classical Indian dishes and is incredible for vegetarians - there's so much variety, and they do everything so well. My personal favorites are the okra fries, the slow-cooked lentil daal with the cheese naan, and the chili cheese toast. I also love the bottomless chai during the daytime; they have a set time window for it, and you can get it with regular milk or oat milk, which is incredible. The staff is super friendly, the vibe is great, and you even see the kitchen on your way to the restroom, which makes it a really immersive experience. The drinks and desserts are fantastic too. Overall, it's fantastic - you can get a reservation, I recommend it; otherwise expect about an hour wait in line, though they keep you happy with chai and drinks while you wait.

Exceptional food and service! I had the masala prawns, chicken ruby, garlic naan, and rose & cardamom lassi. All were amazing and the flavors really stood out in every dish.

We had wonderful service here! Dishoom is a popular place but the dinner line for 3 on a weeknight wasn't too bad (they don't take reservations), I thought the line moved fairly fast and at some point they handed out small sample cups of chai to us which was nice. It's very spacious inside. Although their black bean dish Black House Daal is popular, I don't think it's something I'd reorder because I don't like beans that much in general. As a chicken tikka masala fan, I enjoyed their butter chicken the most. It's the closest thing they have to chicken tikka masala--which they don't have, they only have chicken tikka which is dry and quite spicy, has no creamy sauce. I also liked the okra fried, which is a type of fry I'm not used to seeing! It's got flavor, and I also loved the chutney and sauces on the table! I enjoyed a Dishoom Margarita which was strong in alcohol content and flavor, and a nice addition to the meal. They have an interesting drink menu, where you will find lots of nonalcoholic and rather healthy options! They have a small shelf in the middle of the room where they sell some of their chai and cookbooks amongst other things.

Some days this place would be jam packed, but other days I passed by, it seems chill. I recommend making reservations if you can. I came here on a weekday night and waited about one hour for a party of five. While waiting in line, they offered a cup of hot chai tea which was perfect for the cold weather. The chai is absolutely delicious. The Chicken Ruby, Okra Fries, and Masala Prawns were my favorite dishes. House Black Daal is their signature dish, which is good to try. The restaurant is dimly lit for an intimate family dinner, but a bit loud. The restrooms are clean. The staff is friendly. I only give them 4/5 because the curries are pretty comparable to places I've been to before, but if I have to recommend one dish and one drink - Okra Fries and Chai Tea.

Was recommended to come here by a lot of people! Food: The food was so warm and tasted to fresh. The chicken ruby tasted so good with the rice and garlic nan! I loved the lentils with the nan! The sauces they gave were very lovely paired with everything. Service: Our waitress was very sweet and knowledgeable with the menu. We told her it is our first time and she broke down the menu items for us! Very sweet of her to do so. Overall: I would recommend this place to other people and possibly come back in the future when I revisit London! Food was pretty high quality and so were the people working there. The restaurant is pretty big and spacious too!

This place is packed! We had to wait in line for about 25 mins for dinner on a Monday night. Service is pretty good although the waiter only refilled our water when we asked and we were pretty thirsty, even though we each got a mango lassi or chocolate chai drink. We ordered the garlic naan, house chaat, murgh mulai, chicken ruby, chicken biryani. Everything was delicious but my favorite was the chaat and the murgh mulai since they were somewhat unique from other Indian restaurants I've been to in the US. It was pretty expensive and they charge an optional 12.5% service charge but they never gave me an option to take it away? Anyways coming from the US, I'm used to providing 20% tip so it was ok. Overall good experience and meal.

Very busy restaurant, make sure to make a reservation. We ate here around 5:30 PM and it was fully packed. We were pretty full from eating all day as tourists so we just wanted to try the food. Okra fries were nice, chili chicken was good but I don't handle spices well to judge. Chefs special prawn Pathia was very good.

This place truly surprised me and unfortunately, not in a good way. I've heard a lot of hype about this place. It almost seems like it's considered the best or one of the best restaurants in London and unfortunately, that was just not what I would say. I will admit that Indian food is not my number one choice of cuisine so that should maybe be factored in, but I have grown to start to actually really Indian food with time so I still think I'm a fair judge of how this restaurant is based off what I ordered. We got three different entrées and a starter and only one out of four of those were actually good to me. My friend ordered the lamb samosas and I usually love samosas, but when I saw that it was a lamb filling I just wasn't really moved to order them but since she got them, I tried one and it was very OK. Nothing special about it at all and that was quite disappointing because I feel like samosas are usually pretty good no matter what. We also got basically their chicken tikka masala and that was definitely the best item out of what we ordered and honestly the only thing that I truly enjoyed. The problem I have with this though is I feel like chicken tikka masala is good anywhere you go. I've been to restaurants in Atlanta where I've actually had better versions of this dish than what I had here so even that was a little disappointing since I would expect such an international city like London to have almost the best of the best. However, I will say that I did enjoy it for what it was so I will not take that away from them. It was good. However, the other two entrees that we ordered were purely based off of what the menu wrote and what our waiters said about how they were like the chef specials or like the most popular menu items. They just made them sound like they would be really good and out of this world and amazing and I literally did not like either of them. Both of them were just not tasty at all. I just felt like they were very bland. They both were stews, kind of like chicken tikka masala, but the flavor was just not good and my friend agreed as well. It was interesting because we walked in with no reservation and immediately got a table and while we were there a line started forming that was wrapped around the front of the building and I was in complete shock. This place is very popular so you know maybe other people really like it but me and my friend we didn't think it was that great. I will say our servers were really nice and helpful for sure, so they did well with that and the ambience was pretty nice too. It was completely filled up and that was to be expected. I will say nothing super amazing in terms of the atmosphere, but I didn't mind it. I personally would not be running to come back here though at all like if somebody really wanted to go then I'll come and just get the chicken tikka masala again. However, I just personally think this place is very overhyped based off of my experience and the fact that we ordered multiple menu items to really get a good understanding of how their food is.

Came here after the movies and the entire restaurant's ambiance was amazing! When everyone in the restaurant is happy, you know the food is good!!! We got the Garlic Naan, Murgh Malai, House Black Daal, and Chicken Ruby along with some Basmati Rice!! Absolutely delicious meal!

Walked in and got seated within 10 minutes, which was unexpected for a busy Friday. Wish we came with more people to order multiple dishes but was sufficient with four dishes. I enjoyed the Black Daal more than the Chicken Ruby - the creaminess paired well with the lentils. We had to order a side of rice, as we had thought it would come with our curries. We also had wished the naan portion was bigger but we still finished all our foods.

For starters, we had the prawns and veggie samosas. Prawns were good and my family enjoyed the veggie samosas. Please not there are only 2 to an order. Entrees included black lentils w/garlic naan and chicken biryani. One can't handle spice and is lactose intolerant, and she was sniffling through the whole meal lol. The black lentils were good but the full flavor wasn't there and it wasn't as creamy as I've had in the past. The best ones I've had were in Thailand, but this didn't even come close. For both the lentils and the biryani, we had to add salt to try to enhance the flavor. We decides to give dessert a try and it was just okay. Initially we planned on order the gulag jamun, but it came with Cornish (vanilla) ice cream and I wanted pistachio. They were very inflexible and would not swipe out the ice cream even though they physically have to put the vanilla scoops on top. Overall, we wouldn't be back here. The quality of food is mediocre at best and hospitality could use a facelift.

A last minute rezzie at Dishoom was a long shot, so we were pleasantly surprised to find Delhi Grill a few blocks away from our hotel. Please note that they are open on Sundays - even though the Yelp page says they are not. Hopefully, that info will be corrected soon. Upon entering, your eye is immediately drawn to the myriad movie posters on the walls and to the lively Indian music videos playing on TV. I especially liked the many murals that dot the restaurant. For our party of 6, we ordered a variety of dishes to share along with 3 cocktails and a beer for the adults. All Of the cocktails were refreshing, tasty and were made with fresh fruit and/or herbs. Of the 3 cocktails we sampled, we liked the Ginger Refresh the best. The Elderflower & Strawberry Refresh and Mango Mojito were just as delicious. The Mojito uses fresh mango purée so be sure to stir well to incorporate the fruity yumminess! Let's talk about what we ate! Although the portion sizes are small to medium size, we felt that the 9 dishes we chose were satisfying for our party of 6. Everything we tried was delicious. Some of the stand out dishes were: tandoori paneer, chana, lamb biryani, spicy butter chicken and kurkuri bhindi.

I feel like all my friends who've been to London have come back talking about this place, and I'm happy to join their ranks. Dishoom was also one of a handful of dining options recommended by my hotel concierge for a party of 11, including kids. Booking was easy, via SevenRooms, no phone calls or emails necessary. It's a large restaurant, and part of a popular chain--I guess they have things figured out. The space was great, open and casual, exposed ceilings and eclectic decor. Lots of fans, which my three-year-old appreciated. Service was friendly and attentive. I started my lunch with a drink, a refreshing green India Gimlet, gin and Rose's lime with celery bitters and fresh dill. I also tried and liked a sip of the New Permit Room Old-Fashioned, a slightly sweet cocktail with coconut-washed bourbon, Pedo Ximénez sherry, and Medjool date liqueur. There was only one menu available for a party of our size, a pre-set family-style group feast for eight adults, to which we added a pre-ordered platter of lamb chops. I loved the variety of dishes that came with this meal, and every one of them was ridiculously delicious. (There was less available for the three small American children, but they loaded up on hotel breakfast and snacked on naan and colorful puffed crackers.) The first round brought trays loaded with keema pau, okra fries, and bhel, along with lime, cilantro, and sauces for serving. The keema pau was incredible, probably my favorite dish of our lunch, if in part because it was 100% new to me. It was a spicy, aromatic blend of minced lamb and peas with dill and lindi pepper, served with toasted, buttered buns to make little sliders. So much flavor, it almost explained, by itself, why the British could never leave India alone. The okra fries were warm and crispy, and I loved the bhel, a crunchy snack of puffed rice, peanuts, and Bombay Mix tossed with pomegranate, tomato, onion, lime, tamarind, and mint. The main course was another giant spread: chicken ruby, house black daal, awadhi jackfruit biryani, and chilled broccoli salad, plus our charred lamb chops, with sides of roti, naan, and raita. The chicken ruby was the highlight here, a fragrant, comforting curry Chicken Ruby Tender chicken in a rich, silky makhani sauce.
