Outstanding food and the service was just as good. Such a chill spot for meeting up with friends, a date or even by yourself.

Exterior sign - we almost missed the entrance, just off the corner

"We're all small place but we're known all across the world and people come here specifically for an experience." The Quote was from one of the hosts there, which sums up my time there. The Agra galli KI aloo Tiki was my favorite, so much that we ordered a second dish. The dim biryani vegetarian was great too, the presentation created a suspense that added to a full experience that was quite enjoyable. Definitely planning to visit again, next time in the area.

Great find at Borough Market! Not many places are open on Sunday at Borough Market. We passed by the area earlier thinking I won't find any restaurants on Sunday and walked to the Tower bridge area. A quick Yelp search with "open now" function led me to this restaurant. Upon arrival without reservation, we were told wait is 30 minutes, so we put our name and went to a pub for a quick drink. I highly recommend making reservation here as more people arrived after us was told no more that night. I guess we were lucky to get a table that night. We all heard this before about Indian food in London, some are hit and miss but this place is defiantly one of the best I've ever had in London. Excellent service and great food. Now I know them, I will defiantly come back on my next trip to London.

    Very interesting menu imagery

I will say that I'm not an expert on Indian Cuisine, but I really enjoyed this meal last night. The flavors were very good and the seasoning was throughout the meat. I was impressed with the lamb chops, as I had the meat plate, which seemed to have the most variety. I'd say the only thing I was not as impressed with was the Mango Brule. Although the flavors were good, I would have expected more of the sugared crust and the filling was a bit runny. Overall the staff were friendly and the food was tasty and moist. I would definitely go back again, if I was craving Indian food and in the area. Enjoy...

A very unique fusion experience of Indian food with British infusion. 5 stars for the creativity, -1 for the execution, but all in all I would still recommend Mango Indian if you are trying to experience something unique!

WOW! This has to be one of my favorite Indian meals I've ever had. My family and I got a couple appetizers and 5 entrees to split between us and were all just gushing over how amazing everything was. We started with the chili squid which was some of the best calamari I've ever had- it had an amazing sauce and was breaded in chickpea flour which made it so crunchy. We also had the papadum with these two amazing chutneys. For our meal we split it the Shinkandari Lamb Chop, the Goan fish curry, chicken Dum Biyrani, Saag aloo, and channa masala. HOLY MOLY! Everything was so flavorful, the meat so tender and just perfectly cooked (especially the lamb and the fish), and everything was perfectly spicy without being too hot. The atmosphere was wonderful, filled with people enjoying their meals, and the staff was so friendly and helpful in highlighting great dishes. We have already recommended this place to multiple people and will continue to do so!

For starters, we had the prawns and veggie samosas. Prawns were good and my family enjoyed the veggie samosas. Please not there are only 2 to an order. Entrees included black lentils w/garlic naan and chicken biryani. One can't handle spice and is lactose intolerant, and she was sniffling through the whole meal lol. The black lentils were good but the full flavor wasn't there and it wasn't as creamy as I've had in the past. The best ones I've had were in Thailand, but this didn't even come close. For both the lentils and the biryani, we had to add salt to try to enhance the flavor. We decides to give dessert a try and it was just okay. Initially we planned on order the gulag jamun, but it came with Cornish (vanilla) ice cream and I wanted pistachio. They were very inflexible and would not swipe out the ice cream even though they physically have to put the vanilla scoops on top. Overall, we wouldn't be back here. The quality of food is mediocre at best and hospitality could use a facelift.

A last minute rezzie at Dishoom was a long shot, so we were pleasantly surprised to find Delhi Grill a few blocks away from our hotel. Please note that they are open on Sundays - even though the Yelp page says they are not. Hopefully, that info will be corrected soon. Upon entering, your eye is immediately drawn to the myriad movie posters on the walls and to the lively Indian music videos playing on TV. I especially liked the many murals that dot the restaurant. For our party of 6, we ordered a variety of dishes to share along with 3 cocktails and a beer for the adults. All Of the cocktails were refreshing, tasty and were made with fresh fruit and/or herbs. Of the 3 cocktails we sampled, we liked the Ginger Refresh the best. The Elderflower & Strawberry Refresh and Mango Mojito were just as delicious. The Mojito uses fresh mango purée so be sure to stir well to incorporate the fruity yumminess! Let's talk about what we ate! Although the portion sizes are small to medium size, we felt that the 9 dishes we chose were satisfying for our party of 6. Everything we tried was delicious. Some of the stand out dishes were: tandoori paneer, chana, lamb biryani, spicy butter chicken and kurkuri bhindi.

The food was exceptional -- aroma, flavors, spice levels, portions; everything was perfect. While visiting London, a local friend invited me to Dishoom, knowing how much I love Indian cuisine. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon around 5PM, and the place was already packed. They don't take reservations for dinner unless you're a large group, but trust me, the wait is worth it. They have a fantastic bar where you can grab drinks while you wait for a table (they give you buzzers). I tried the Negroni and another tequila-based cocktail (sadly I can't remember the name), and both were phenomenal. Shared plates are definitely the way to go at Dishoom. We ordered the gunpowder potatoes (incredible), an appetizer with potatoes and pineapple (not my favorite; the pineapple threw me off), monkfish curry (amazing), and chicken curry. It was a lot of food for just two of us, but I couldn't stop eating. I seriously wanted to bottle up that sauce! The service was surprisingly impeccable, especially considering how busy they were. We ended up spending about £110 for an incredible dinner, and we nearly couldn't finish everything. Lastly, the ambiance! Inspired by Iranian cafes in India, the atmosphere at Dishoom is eclectic. I loved the dim lighting, unique decor, and the lively pace of the restaurant. Just go!

As soon as you walk in, they offer to hang your coat. The young lady who was our server for the evening gave us the best recommendations--I wish I knew her name. She was so patient with our many questions and didn't steer us wrong. My friends and I started with the wings as an appetizer. They had the perfect amount of grill flavor and were very saucy and well seasoned. There was no classy way to eat them--they were that good. For our entrées, we ordered the goat shoulder and the half rack of lamb chops. The half rack is more than enough for one person, especially with naan and rice. The reviewers were not lying when they said you must try the lamb chops. They came out sizzling, and we laughed because it took us back to dining at Chili's (iykyk). Perfectly seasoned and incredibly tender. The same goes for the goat shoulder. This was my first time trying it, and I was very impressed with how good it tasted. While I'm not usually a dessert person, you must try the carrot pastry. Think of it like a McDonald's apple pie (the old-school one), but with warm carrot filling on the inside and a sprinkle of pistachio on the outside--just 10x better. Everything here tasted spectacular, including the chili naan. Can't wait to come back and try more dishes.

I love Indian food, and Metro Vancouver has a huge Indian population, so Indian food is comfort food. The restaurant's wall was decorated with various historical photographs, and right above our table was a photo of Vancouver, titled "Well-dressed Sikhs walking along the street in Vancouver, Canada c. 1908." Although over 100 years ago, I immediately recognized the location -- the corner of Granville and Hastings. How coincidental is that, to be thousands of miles away from home in a different continent, and to come across a photograph of the very street corner I cross multiple times a week! I don't recall what my husband had (a chicken dish), but I had Acharri Murgha ("chicken curry cooked in a traditional pickling spice mix") and it was delicious! Both my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal -- it was a taste of home! I also had a couple of glasses of wine, but each glass was 250ml, so I was pretty tipsy. In the washroom, a woman, another tourist, started conversing with me, but she only spoke French, and despite being drunk and rarely speaking French, I was able to have a semi-coherent conversation (she was also a bit tipsy). I had a drunken conversation in French inside an Indian restaurant in England! Anyway, Punjab Restaurant is one of the best Indian restaurants I have been to, and it is no surprise that it has been around since 1946. [Yelp collections: Europe 2024; London, England]
