Our experience was overall pretty good. We enjoyed the appetizers the most - the prawns and okra fries. Unfortunately we did get a couple wrong dishes served to us that we had to send back but that wasn't an issue. Our server was super nice and considerate and was really helpful in choosing our meal and how we ordered. The food itself was good - but nothing completely out of this world. I've definitely had better back home in Boston, but it was a great experience nonetheless. Next time we go back we're definitely going to try out breakfast as we've heard great things!
The best food and vibes. We waited about an hour and a half without reservation, but it was worth it. The staff were great at every touchpoint, the cocktails were delish, and the food was great. They had most of the classics you'd expect, with a bit of a modern twist. Medium spicy, with excellent flavor. The biryani and fresh made naan/roti were amazing.
YES!!! This is worth the hype. I'm from the states and tried to get in a year prior. The line was too long. Came back this year and we were able to get in. The chai while you wait is to die for. I still think about it. Food was phenomenal and the staff was amazing. They were so helpful with allergies and ensuring we could eat everything we ordered. The restaurant is huge and has a cool vibe. We will be back!
Oh. My. Gosh! I was recommended this restaurant and I cannot thank them enough. After walking around the rainy streets of London for 11 hours I wanted some amazing comfort food and this is exactly what we got. Much like other places in London walking in you have no idea how far this place actually stretches. The restaurant is HUGE. We were seated right away on a Friday night and worried it would take a while to get food. It took us longer to decide what to order than to receive our food. The service was quick and every single dish was phenomenal. We decided to start with the samosas served with the most delicious sauce. You only get 3 so 1-1/2 each it was, yum! For entree we decided to split the super popular chicken ruby, a side of rice and the garlic naan. There was definitely some spice to the chicken but amazingly delicious. Out of our 10 days travels through Paris and London this was our absolute favorite meal. We didn't have a refrigerator in our hotel but opted to take our leftovers anyway because it was too good to leave behind. I cannot recommend enough giving this place a try!
Dishoom is my favorite go-to for Indian cuisine when visiting London. I am thankful for my friend Tiffany J. who made the recommendation. On my first visit, I was coming from Italy and Germany and had to pick an overnight stay before coming back home to Houston. I literally picked London and stayed in a hotel in Covent Garden just to be within walking distance to Dishoom. Priorities. It was late, and I was exhausted traveling from the morning to 3 different countries. I read that there could be a significant wait time without a reservation, so I knew what to expect. It was still quite chilly in mid March and a little damp from the rain, but it wasn't so bad standing out in the line. I actually only had to wait 10 minutes, and they served chai tea. I think because it was just me, I got a seat ahead of larger groups. I was seated at a table for four. Since I hadn't eaten since breakfast, I ordered quite a few things like the infamous okra fries, charred lamb chops, garlic naan, basmati rice, hot tea and a cocktail. I laid it all out in front of me. The small bowl of okra fries were amazing and perfectly crispy without being too covered in breading and dusted with spices. I could snack on that often. The charred lamb chops were flavorful and nicely blackened. I liked the pop of pomegranate seeds to the dish. The basmati rice was cooked well like how I make it at home. There was plenty of thin garlic naan. The pot of ginger, honey lemon tea was soothing since it was cold, and I was feeling under the weather. The India gimlet gin cocktail was refreshing with the cucumber. Second time around, I was busy doing touristy things and celebrating the New Year and almost didn't make it back here, but I pulled myself together to catch the tube in the freezing cold on my last night. I actually hadn't been eating much due to the time change, so I was hungry. It's about a 20-minute commute walking and by tube from South Bank near the River Thames. I waited less than 5 minutes and was seated downstairs again. This time, I tried the Chicken Ruby with a side of basmati rice and a bottle of water (there's a charge). I started with the okra fries first, though. The Chicken Ruby was sooo good and homey. Loved that it was served in a cast iron pot. The makhani sauce was everything, and the chicken was so tender. It was like butter chicken. I'd order this again next time. I would've ordered a NA drink from their Teetotal Tipples menu, but I was so full and needed to hydrate. This was the perfect last meal before flying home. The server recommended I try breakfast items next time. I will definitely be back!
Came here on a Sunday morning around 10am, mainly because it was one of the few places open for breakfast. We had originally wanted to try Dishoom for dinner another time, but since they were open early, we decided to stop by for breakfast instead. This review is strictly based on the breakfast experience. Dinner may very well be better. The breakfast overall was a bit underwhelming and didn't really deliver much in terms of Indian flavor. The highlight was the chai tea, which was nicely done with a subtle hint of spice that was comforting and well balanced. We ordered the bacon naan roll since the server mentioned the naan roll is a signature item. Unfortunately, the naan wasn't warm and was quite soggy, and the bacon wasn't crispy, which made the whole thing lack texture and flavor. It just didn't come together well. We also tried the Kejriwal, which is essentially a cheesy toast topped with egg. This was better than the naan roll, but still fairly mild and nothing particularly memorable flavor-wise. On the plus side, the space is large with plenty of seating, and it was pretty busy when we were there, which says a lot about its popularity. Our waiter was friendly and attentive, which we appreciated. Overall, not a bad stop if you're looking for a place open for breakfast on a Sunday, but based on this visit, the food didn't quite live up to expectations. I'd be open to coming back to try dinner, as I've heard that's where they really shine.
Krishna the server/host was wonderful! We really enjoyed every single dish that we had and loved that there was a kids menu as well! Our family really enjoyed the Pau Bajji, samosas, dishoom chaat, matter paneer, roti, vegetarian biryani and the drinks! We really enjoyed everything and will fly back from the US to come back! Absolutely a great experience and way to end our vacation on a high note! Also was surprised with the Kheer dessert for my bday! It's a special touch and really was just memorable.
From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is warm, stylish, and buzzing without feeling overwhelming. The food is exceptional. Every dish we tried was full of flavor and clearly made with care. The curries were rich and perfectly spiced, the naan was fresh and fluffy, and the small plates were ideal for sharing. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients and the attention to detail in each dish. The service was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable--our server was happy to offer recommendations and made the experience feel relaxed and welcoming. Despite how popular Dishoom is, everything felt smooth and unhurried. Overall, Dishoom lives up to the hype. It's the kind of place you'd happily return to again and again, whether for a casual meal or a special night out. Highly recommend.
Did you even go to London if you didn't try Dishoom? The food is consistently high quality, and the flavors are incredible. The chicken ruby (their signature dish) is a must. Pair it with their garlic naan! The okra fries are also a yummy side, and the unlimited chai is plus. Highly recommend making a reservation as it's always busy and usually a long line. The restaurant layout has a classic, old-school Bombay vibe, and the service was really attentive. They also surprised us with a Chocolate Lava Cake at the end because we were celebrating a birthday. For the quality and experience, the prices are super reasonable. Dishoom truly lives up to the hype.
Ambiance: this place was in a cute neighborhood. the restaurant was busy & quite larger than expected. it was more of a casual atmosphere Service: our server was nice & quick. she was informative of the menu (it had a lot of items on there). Food: everything we ordered here was so good except the lamb kabobs. not that it was bad but not to our liking. out of everything we ordered, the chicken ruby was the stand out - so delicious!!
We came for their breakfast. Their breakfast items are basically western food with more and better seasoning, nothing wrong with that, Maybe it's just my experience, but I may have expected too much based on everyone's raves. If you like fusion style, this is great! But we left Dishoom craving more Indian food, this felt like a teaser into an introductory version of western but Indian seasoning. We both got chai, they came in small cups but were supposed to be bottomless. But, after our order arrived, no one checked on us, until we were nearly done and they took away our plates. We had to wave someone down to ask for refills when we remembered the chai was supposed to be bottomless. And then wave down someone to get the check, and then find someone to pay the check. Ok I know, I'm expecting too much. Bottom line, their breakfast is good but not something I would return for.
Hard to say anything that hasn't already been said. Fantastic food, service, and ambiance. I came here for brunch while visiting and do not regret it at all. The naan rolls are a unique and delicious combination of flavors, and the big Bombay, while a large portion, was probably my favorite. Chai was also fresh and delicious, and bottomless. Can't stop at just one! I'd return here frequently if I lived in the city. Or the country. Highly recommend checking it out. One note - we came on a Monday morning around 10am, and it was pretty busy. I imagine at peak times you may need a reservation. Go give it a try! read more

I went to this restaurant for my birthday dinner and I honestly think the butter chicken (chicken Ruby) was the best butter chicken I've ever had and I've tried this dish at many many places. The chicken was so tender and the curry was so flavorful. I recommend it 150%. The ambiance is beautiful and lively. We made reservations before coming which I recommend or else you'll be waiting in a long line. Other hits included the keema pau and basmati kheer. The keema pau was very flavorful and had a spicy kick to it. read more
They gave us complimentary tea while waiting which was a good you. We ordered vada paos for evening snacks. They were a bit soggy due to the chutneys being over-smothered on the paos. We had vada paos at another location and they were exquisite. The service was quick and the ambiance was quiet and pleasant. read more

London greeted us with drizzle and crazy winds that day. By the time we reached the restaurant, there was already a huge line of people waiting outside in the rain. I thought to myself, is this Indian restaurant my daughter's friend recommended really worth it? But once we sat down and started eating, all the exhaustion from walking in the stormy weather just disappeared. Every bite was pure comfort. What an amazing place. The restaurant was fantastic and the food was great. The house chaat is delicious! The potatoes were nice and crisp with an even more delicious yogurt sauce. The star like previous ones have said was the Chicken Ruby. It was packed with flavor and had some pockets of heat. Overall, we loved this place in London! read more
We were told a trip to London is incomplete without a trip to Dishoom. So that's what we did. Went at around 3:30 pm on a Saturday. No wait at all; we were seated straightaway. Summary: Food and ambiance 5 stars. Service is 3 stars. We were waited by three different people when we visited, and two of them were excellent but the first one... hmm.. could use some training. We needed to park our husband's mobility scooter and charge it, and the first waiter didn't know how to accommodate the request. After a tense back and forth, he ended up calling his manager. While we didn't want to escalate and this was unexpected, the manager ended up not accommodating our request as well. No offer to reseat us in a more ADA-friendly location. While she made no attempt in even considering reseating us, the restaurant was cozy and quite full so we understood. Let's jump to the good, shall we? We ordered masala soda, Kala khatta, sherbet, rose cardamom lassi, Dishoom house chaat, and samosas for starters. Kala khatta sherbet reminded me of the ones you get it Mumbai. It was amazing. Rose cardamom lassi belonged to another world. Bloody brilliant. Samosas were great too. Dishoom house chaat was outstanding. For the main course, we ordered pav bhaji, makhmali paneer, stuffed cheese naan, garlic naan, roomali roti, Dishoom house dal, and choley puri halwa! Everything was great-- although the makhmali paneer was the least favorite to be honest. The paneer was super fresh though, but just sprinkled with a riot of spices. We had to add some additional chutneys they had provided to us. Choley was amazing, dal had a great depth of flavors and the naans specifically the cheese stuffed naan was A++. Wrapped up with Alphonso mangoes with vanilla ice cream. My only suggestion to this business is to have something in place to accommodate guests who have a disability. While you may not have a ton of customers who meet this criteria, as an establishment, it's still important to make them feel just as comfortable like you do for all your customers. read more
Dishoom (Convent location) absolutely lived up to the hype. It was the first restaurant on my list when I planned my London trip because all my friends had raved about it and they were so right. There were three of us & even one friend who is not usually into Indian food loved every single dish. We ordered the keema pau, charred lamb chomps, black daal, prawn curry, chicken berry britannia, chicken tikka, garlic naan, & roomali roti and everything was delicious. The decor and service were amazing too. Definitely make a reservation because the line outside was long and the place was packed on both floors. Such a great experience and I would 10/10 recommend it! read more
Location is easy to get to from Subway Highly recommend reservation as this very popular and u may have to wait for a while before getting seated I have kids w me so MUST make reservation They state they r halal We did try multiple food options and everything was great and delicious Our waiter was good Food was reasonably fast and they usually bring food as it becomes ready not at once also most of their recipe u cannot control how spicy it can be It is large and space is nicely decorated overall great place to taste indian food and I think it does deserve its popularity read more
Had a reservation. It was pretty busy at the restaurant overall. Service was good and atmosphere was great for an Indian restaurant. Ordered three dishes total and two drinks came up to 85 quid. Imo over-rated and overpriced for what you get but I will say good quality. Probably won't visit again just due to the value of money read more
Great food and trendy huge restaurant! There was about a 30 minute wait and a long line outside, but it was worth it. The curries were tasty and a nice portion size. The staff were attentive and friendly. The only reason this place didn't get a five was because I feel like it was too pricey. Two meals and 3 drinks ended up costing over $100. read more
A lot of friends hyped up this place - very deserved. Best Indian food I've ever had. Broccoli salad was fragrant from the mint, crunchy from pumpkin seeds, slightly spice and a little sweet due to dates. The chicken ruby was so tasty, like a lighter version of a butter chicken that wasn't too heavy or oily. The roti was a good accompaniment to sop up the curry. The lamb chops were nice and succulent, perfectly seasoned. 10/10 read more
First stop in the UK--an upscale Indian restaurant. (Not sure if all the other Indian restaurants in the UK are like this.) We had a reservation for 5 pm, but it wasn't as busy then as the reviews say. The space did fill up later into the evening. The front desk was a bit rude, but our server was kind and attentive and gave us great recommendations. Loved the lamb rack, and the mango lassi was a standout--light and refreshing, unlike the heavy thick version in the US. read more

Every rec I received for London eats, was Dishoom! And every time we walked by any of the Dishoom locations, the line was quite lengthy. average wait I would say is about 35-40 min. Worth the wait? Hmmmmmmmm, if I have to think about it, I would say no. The service is pleasant and a 5 star experience, but the food itself is a high 3, or a flat 4. Maybe the hype was a little over the top. I've had more than my fair share of Indian food, so I do know good Indian eats when I taste it. While you wait in line, they pass out a small glass of chai or warm mint tea. Nice touch, Dishoom. lol, while waiting in line, some people asked if we were waiting for a show or concert. And when they heard it was just food, they looked surprised. Yes, the line was THAT long. It's good food, like I said, but not something I would wait in line for like that. Fun experience and good vibes tho. One thing Dishoom does well, is dishem-up fast! Once you sit down and order, it comes out quickly! read more

The Irani cafe style space is charming and warm. We waited for around 15-20 minutes in a Q outside while chatting with hosts. Our server was friendly and explained the menu and portions. The food was fantastic, and the ruby chicken was definitely the star. The house chai was warm and welcome on a cold, windy day. This was highly recommended to us and lived up to every expectation! If we're in London again we will definitely be back! read more
Dishoom came highly recommended. We started with the house chaat. Loved it! The hot/cold dish consisted over delicious flavours. The chicken ruby was the highlight entree. The mattar paneer was just fair. We ordered chai after our meal which tasted overly sweet. It was a little tacky we were charged for water. I am now a lover of Indian food. Our waitress was so lovely and helped us out with ideas and size portions. The restaurant is very popular so make reservations as lines are long. Delicious snack foods to start your meal. Sharing plates is recommended. If you are unsure try the fried okra for a start. Chicken ruby is a fantastic creamy sauces dish with tender chicken and a wonderful sauce to dip with garlic naan bread. The samosas are so flavorful with a bit of a spicy kick I loved the dipping sauces. For dessert since it was our anniversary they brought out chocolate pudding and chilli ice cream. It was phenomenal. We tried to tip our waitress as her service was superior yet she was humble saying the tip is in the prices. Highly recommend this. read more

If there is one restaurant I could dine at for the rest of my life it would be Dishoom. Everything exceeded expectations, and the service was top notch. I went for lunch and the Dahl is not to be missed. The bottomless Chai as well is such a value and the best I have ever tried. Can't wait to visit london just for this place. Do your taste buds a favor and book a reservation ASAP! read more
Food was amazing we got there for lunch right before the line. Wow so glad we got in everything was amazing. The broccoli salad is a must! The dahl was great along with the basmanti rice. You must order the naan we got the cheese it comes with 3 dipping sauces. The place is very large inside plenty of seating. read more

It was 100% worth waiting in line to get a spot inside this electric spot for some of the best Indian food we've had anywhere! Staff realized the wait was long, so they came through offering hot chai to keep us comforted as we stood in line. Once inside, they whisked us downstairs into a space that was probably two to three times large than I'd expected while we were outside. The open air kitchens were humming with energy and dishes were flying throughout the restaurant. We ordered a "family style" meal where we shared a number of small plate (and main) dishes as we celebrated one of our party's 60th birthday. Here are all the things we tried...lamb samosas, veggie samosas, okra fries, Dishoom house chaat, chili broccoli salad, garlic naan, house black daal, murgh malai, chicken berry Britannia biryani, basmati kheer and finally Dishoom chocolate pudding (with Kashmiri chili ice cream). Everything was bursting with flavor, but those okra fries were sooooo addicting we ordered it a second time! The berry tart at the end (with a candle in it) was a nice touch and made our birthday girl feel extra special. Thanks for the very memorable dining experience! read more
I'm so glad we discovered this spot during our brief visit to London. We tried to get dinner reservations on two different nights but had no luck, so we ended up booking a breakfast instead. The ambiance inside is lovely--details like the steel tumblers and chai glasses really make you feel like you're in a café in Mumbai. The chole puri halwa was delicious; the chole had a good level of spice, balanced nicely by the lightly sweet halwa. The pickled vegetables were a great addition as well. And the chocolate chai? Absolutely amazing. Free refills? Yes, please. All in all, a fantastic experience. read more
So this was a hot subject when I was planning a London trip. Everyone who had been to London mentioned that I had to try this. Seems Dishoom has 6-7 locations in London and no reservation is needed if you are less than 6. It's a simple walk-in. We were staying in central London (5 mins from this location) and saw this joint 2-3 times. it was always crowded and the line was always there. However, on 3rd day of the trip, I decided to try this, and the next moment I was in line too :D We were served hot tea while waiting and surprisingly our turn came up in 20-25 minutes. The line was moving quickly. The decor is contemporary and the only hint that it was an Indian restaurant are the various Bollywood pictures and "aged" pictures of family and friends on the walls. We got the table downstairs that too in the corner and my wife was not very pleased about this. I called the head server (who was managing this whole thing) and requested to move us upstairs and she obliged with our request. We settled nicely and ordered * Sheekh Kabab- it could be more juicer. ours was a bit dry * Chicken Ruby - small juicy chicken pieces in tomato-based gravy * Naan * Basmati Rice * Fruit Crumble (Dessert) - superb taste! The food was really good and how quick was their service... Wow..Everyone was running it seems (and that's how they accommodate everyone even though there were like 30-40 folks in line waiting for their turn) now I got, why it is so popular and become the #1 Indian restaurant in London. read more

I thought this place was going to be overhyped but I was wrong - the hype was so real. We chose this location since it was opened the latest and we're afraid we wouldn't be able to get a table. Even at the late hour there was a line outside! I was worried we wouldn't be seated but the line went SO QUICK! The hostess said it would be probably a 15 minute wait but it was more like 3 minutes. The ambiance inside was incredible. Such a beautiful restaurant. Dimly lit, and 1960's Indian music playing in the background. I absolutely loved it. The place was packed for being almost 11pm. We ordered chicken ruby (basically their version of chicken tikka masala), the Matar paneer, and the most amazing garlic naan. Everything was 10/10 in my opinion. Definitely the best Indian food I've had. I can't wait to go back to London and experience this place again. read more

Dishoom is hands down, one of the most loved restaurants in London. Six different people put this on our must do list while visiting London, THEY WERE NOT WRONG! We made our pilgrimage to the flagship in Covent Garden and waited in line for 45 minutes. The line moved quickly and the atmosphere was that we were about to experience something different and very special. The staff was very helpful in helping us navigate the large menu. We started with chota papad with mango chutney, an Indian version of chips and salsa. It was good and left us waiting for more. The Dishoom house chat was unbelievably good and savory. The gunpowder potatoes were different and very tasty. One cannot leave here without trying the legendary ruby chicken, it was memorable. The chef's special of prawn pathway was packed with rich and deep flavors, we will not forget. The garlic Naan was the perfect vehicle to sop up the sauces so nothing was waisted. I can honestly say, This was one of the best meals we ate in London. Flavors here were never experienced by us in the past. We are generally leery about Indian cuisine in the states, that will now be changed forever. If you are in London, open your mind and run to Dishoom for a life changing dining experience. Dishoom has changed our opinion on what Indian food can be. Thank you Dishoom for opening my son's eyes to those things that are good in international cuisine. OUTSTANDING FOOD AND SERVICE. I love Dishoom, and I love that all of their locations are a little different, but it's always a vibe. You can't go wrong with any of the food. It's so tasty. The tea and dessert is also delish, and the cocktails are unique. Definitely make reservations if you can or be prepared to wait. Check out the website because they have rules about reservations. The Saint Martin location was great if you are going to see a show, which we were! Really friendly service, but the food is the best part! read more
