WOW! Everything was phenomenal from the food to the service. Definitely was impressed with this dining experience everything was great. They have a specific vegan menu which makes it easy to order. Our server Bhavik was one of the best Ive ever had! He made the experience that much better. My favorite item was the aubergine - salan it was so flavorful, a must order!! If you're thinking about eating here do it!

I actually found this place by Tik Tok. A London local recommended this restaurant and boy was it astounding. My father is a big fan of Indian food and continued to rave about this meal throughout the week. I made a reservation online, which is highly suggested. We rang the doorbell and were seated promptly. The staff and our server were very kind and attentive throughout our meal. For our table of four, we ordered three main dishes, three sides, and two baskets of bread. This was the perfect amount for all of us to leave happy and our bellies full. We opted to finish our meal with three desserts. WOW! Masterfully crafted with major flavors and beautiful presentation. The sorbet was my favorite! If you're on vacation or live locally. I would highly recommend this local spot.

Fabulous restaurant in Chelsea, romantic, great food and elegant setting. We were able to get a table without a reservation (we were early) but the restaurant filled up. We had chicken tikka Masala, paneer dish and a samosa appetizer. The dishes were small (for American stomachs ) but the flavors were excellent. Recommend!!

Old fashioned with class on the terrace.

What a hidden gem. This is probably the best meal I had in London and that includes some pretty good meals including one at Dishoom. We took a short shopping date one weekend while we were in London and wound up nearby and hungry and this place popped up although we would have never found it without Yelp. It's a block of the main shopping strip in a row house that you have to ring the bell to get inside. Once inside, we got seated on the terrace, which was lovely and quintessentially London including haven't to step through a (large) window out onto the terrace. The whole experience had the feelings of a very fancy restaurant with the amazing parts of also fantastic Indian food. The service and ambiance was perfect for a date. The service was attentive without being intrusive. The sparkling water sat in a silver dish and somebody refilled our glasses from the bottle at regular intervals. The view from the terrace looked down through a skylight into an elegant dining room. The plating for each dish left nothing to be desired. The cocktails were spectacular, I got an excellent variant of an old fashioned (with peated whisky) and my wife got mango mocktail that was really interesting. I'm pretty sure it was the Jhoom (mango and ginger ale), which is something I want to try at home. When it came to food, we got the lamb chop tandoor/grill as an appetizer and it was exactly what you'd want from lamb. It was deep and earthy with a firm, but not chewy texture and perfectly spiced with a tomato, onion and chili (kachumber?) side to coat the meat as you saw fit. The lamb was probably the best single thing we got. I got the sea bass curry and my wife got the guinea fowl biryani. The curry was lighter and more intricate than the curry you normally get spiced deliberately with curry leaves (which is different from curry) and a bit of a citrus element. The sea bass itself was a great conduit for the curry, but I'd recommend also getting the rice to make sure you can sop up all of the curry sauce. The biryani was also light and bright instead of the easier-to-do rich and earthy. It's not that I don't like rich and earthy biryani, but the lighter and brighter version was different and much more elegant. Better suited to a lunch date. I'm not sure how much the Guinea fowl added over chicken, but it was yummy and certainly didn't taken anything away from the dish. To top everything else, they brought out a small dessert (two chocolate-covered blueberries) with the bill as we left. I couldn't have asked for a better date meal out.

Dessert from the festive tasting menu... and five little coconut Petit fours.

The restaurant is inside a small house with rooms separated into small dining rooms each with about five tables. Our party had the festive tasting menu as well as the vegetarian tasting menu. We had the wine pairing. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive. All of the food was delicious. I would definitely return. The price was reasonable for a Michelin star tasting menu.

Decided to come here for lunch and got the pre-set menu. The restaurant is situated in a very beautiful building where you have to ring the bell to go in. I thought that was clever and cute. I personally wouldn't consider it fine dining but it was nice nonetheless. The service wasn't bad, I did have to have a quite a bit for them to remove my main entree plates to get the dessert, but that is minor. Let's get to the food. I decided to go with the aloo tiki as an appetizer. I was leaning towards the goat keema but was told that was not halal so got aloo (potato) tiki instead. The tiki had a nice texture to it and the chole underneath had good spice. The tamarind chutney on top was also decent but all together the meal was too salty. The accumulation of all the elements had to too salt. For my main, I ordered the butter chicken. This I was told was halal (chicken and lamp are halal from what the waiter said). I like the use of fenugreek in my butter chicken but something in this made it a little too bitter. I liked that they used chicken thighs and it was tender enough, but something in the sauce was off. For dessert, I ordered the steamed yogurt with fruits, I forget the name of it on the menu. It looked pretty and everything tasted fine individually. However, I did not consider it to be a cohesive dish. Meaning when the elements were eaten together, there was no wow factor. Nothing wrong with it but I didn't see all of the elements compliment each other. The star of the meal had to be the tarka daal. That was perfect. This is complementary with the main course. I really enjoyed the daal. That was the savior for me. Overall, my experience has this restaurant was average.

Had a delightful tasting menu here for a special occasion. My fave was the broccoli/morels dish and the gorgeous banana fritters in the Valrhona choc dessert. The truffle naan scramble was scrumptious too. Can never have too much truffle IMHO! I found the ambience lovely but the service a little patchy. The extra dessert was a very sweet touch though and I'd recommend this spot for a romantic meal, no doubt!

If they master one thing here it's the spices! Went for the weekender special (35£ set menu) a great deal to sample their food without breaking the piggy bank. The starter: Softshell crab with chickpea, tellicherry pepper, garlic and mustard. Deliciously crispy and fulll of flavour , a must try! 2nd starter: Salmon Mooli -tandoori tikka, dill raita and pickle. This was my fav of the 2 starters. A buttery salmon full of Indian spices Lamb tandoori chop, tomato kachumber, salad. Good but nothing special. Mains: Chicken Tikka Masala, classic nothing bad about it but nothing special either Prawn curry, the prawn were really soft so not my thing. Dessert: Spiced poached pear with melon sorbet. A good dessert to end the meal, again nice spices. The best little finish was the little chocolate filled with a roasted pineapple puree. They should sell those Overall this is a beautiful restaurant set in a townhouse. The dishes while not so creative are full of the Indian spices that lot of places lack of. I would definitely come back to try more dishes.

It has to be some of the best Indian food I've had outside of India. The little complimentary chai while you wait in line is such a thoughtful touch and really sets the tone. Even though there was a queue, it moved surprisingly quickly. Once inside, the service was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. As for the food... every dish we ordered was outstanding. Rich flavors, perfectly balanced spices, and you can tell a lot of care goes into every plate. Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. If you're in London, don't overthink it. Just get in line, enjoy the chai, order what sounds good, and have a fantastic meal. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in town.

In my opinion, there are 2 main things to know about Dishoom: it's an Indian restaurant that is a chain, with 11 locations worldwide. The food is really good for a chain, bit it doesn't begin to come close to a restaurant that takes care of of its individual customers. Walking in, there's lots of energy. People are having a good time, there's no question. We were seated upstairs where there must have been around 40 tables. All of the staff are walking around in a hurry, cause everything here is in a hurry. The intention is to get you our in less than an hour. They want you in, through, and out. I saw this with multiple tables. Our server Yanko came to our table quite promptly and helped us make selections, both for food and drinks. For the first time in my experience eating in a restaurant, the appetizers arrived minutes before our cocktails. They came so fast that we didn't even think it was our order. And then moments after the drinks arrived, all of the main dishes and sides were placed on the table. With no way to keep anything warm. All of this with 10 minutes of placing the order. I appreciate prompt service, but this takes it to an absurd extreme. Our appetizers included the house Chaat and prawn koliwada. I enjoyed the prawns more but the flavors were facile, not close to what I expect and have enjoyed in excellent Indian restaurants. The main dishes were the Goan monkfish curry and Sali Goan. These were also just OK, absolutely nothing special. The cheese naan was soggy, though the flavor was good. This was an unacceptable texture for a naan. Dessert was Basmati Kheer, flavorful Basmati rice with fruit compote on top. In between and unneeded, was a thin layer of creme brulee. I did enjoy my tea: ginger, lemon and honey and my wife liked her mint tea. I do not know the restaurant scene in Edinburgh, we've been here for 4 days. But this is just not a place I'deven consider returning to. It's really a factory that feeds folks, not a restaurant that cares for its customers. The business model had been optimized to maximize income with lots of throughput. What's been almost completely lost in my opinion, is the heart and soul of the dining experience.
