Delicious food. Excellent service. Fantastic location and bustling ambiance. We loved EVERY single item we had. It's a wonderful menu.

*This review is for the SoHo location, which doesn't seem to be on Yelp* This was one of the most incredible Indian dining experiences I ever had. I went with my family and we ordered approximately half the menu to share (Rasam ke Bomb, French bean pakoras, beetroot croquettes, tandoori chicken chop, chaat, soft shell crab, grilled artichoke hearts, grilled prawns, lamb chop, chutney trio, bread and butter pudding). We enjoyed every single dish tremendously, and didn't have a single negative thing to say about any of them. Our favorites though (which we ordered a second round of because they were THAT good) were the artichoke hearts and the soft shell crab. These are not traditionally my favorite ingredients, but we were so blown away by these dishes we had to order more. The service was also impeccable- the restaurant manager and staff very diligently checked up on if we needed anything, and were very efficient and friendly the entire time. At the end of the meal they treated us with a second dessert, which was also fantastic. The restaurant was beautiful and cozy- the SoHo location isn't large but didn't feel cramped either. We very comfortably fit our table of five and it was lively the entire time we were there. The location was also extremely convenient in the heart of London. All in all, we loved this restaurant and would love to come back next time we're in the city.

Gunpowder rocks! They are at the same level at Dishoom in my opinion. Super creative food that looks and tastes great. They serve food with flavor from all over the country. This is their biggest and nicest location with indoor and outdoor seating. Service was brilliant and I left stuffed!

Our first meal in London! Right by the Tower Bridge. Such lovely food! Great service. Everyone's favorites were the rasam bombs! We ordered every single vegetarian option on the small plates menu. Everything tasted amazing! My personal favorite was the artichoke dish, explosion of flavors. Very well done!

We were a group of 10 people, for dinner and visited over the xmas break. So had the chance to try a good amount of the small and sharing plates. I must say the Reshmi Wagyu Beef Skewer was awesome - grilled to perfection with very flavorful seasoning. The Rasam Ka Bomb food shot was legit as well - a fun take on masala dosa flavours indeed. I enjoyed the masala egg curry as well! The Kerala beef fry , the Goan style prawn, and the pork braised ribs were good in concept, but it left me wanting for something - the seasoning was not too exciting to me. But overall - it was a fun evening with good food. The decor is a modern industrial look and well lit! We will be back to try more!

While I found a lot of the fine dining in London pretty subpar in comparison to NYC, Indian fare was the exception. Gunpowder is more of a modern take on Indian fare and it was one of our best meals in the UK. Located right in Tower Bridge, its in a newly developed area and the restaurant is swank, modern and clean. Reservations are a good idea and they'll require a deposit to hold the table so be prepared. The menu has a lot of familiar items dressed up for a more modern take (chicken tandoori, saag paneer, etc.) but the portions are more tapas size than a full entree. The flavors here are profound and really well done. Our meal spread didn't have any disappointments, it was all good. Service here is attentive and the staff here is excellent. If I'm going to gripe, the value isn't there since it's pretty pricey for the amount of food you get. If you want a good meal though, this place is a good bet to do right by you. Thumbs up.

Ya, it's good. Nouveau Indian style tapas. Don't ask for naan or anything here. For me, what makes this five stars is the following: - they accommodated our table of four on short notice - service was perfect - food was delicious - concept is great - inside is casual yet refined We ordered most of the menu, and every dish was incredible. The seabass, lamb chops and duck leg standout. Flavors on flavors on flavors! Menu changes I believe from what's on the website, but everything really is tasty.

I think if you're going to do a "modern" take on Indian food, you really have to hit it out of the park, otherwise people get upset that their favorite hearty cuisine is being done a disservice. Positives: It's in a great location, amazing walkable alley. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, and the service was great. Immediately greeted and seated. Now for the meat of the review. I found the food to be a bit disappointing, not bad, per se, but I was not wowed. The aloo Chaat was a bit too sweet and I thought a little scant. The chicken was okay and I would say that the paneer was the highlight of the meal. Overall the portions are very small and I left feeling hungry. The dishes are served tapas style so they are small but still quite pricey! Also I was underwhelmed by the rice with the gunpowder. It was an interesting experience to try but I'm not sure it would be my first stop if I visit again.

From what I know of traditional South Indian cooking, it also was pretty authentic. From many Indian dining experiences in San Francisco and Los Angeles, where Indian is quite standard, I'd say this compares with what I'm used to in terms of deliciousness :) I liked the interior, which felt both trendy and laid-back at the same time. The location's nice, right near the Peckham Rye station. Service was friendly and I was given extra hot peppers to accompany my meal at no extra cost. The only drawback, for me, are the prices, which seem to be on the high side. Of course, since we aren't in Kerala, we can't get an entire, delicious, gigantic meal for under £5. We're in London, so prices are higher. But this place would be more of a gem if it's prices were a little more appealing.

As soon as you walk in, they offer to hang your coat. The young lady who was our server for the evening gave us the best recommendations--I wish I knew her name. She was so patient with our many questions and didn't steer us wrong. My friends and I started with the wings as an appetizer. They had the perfect amount of grill flavor and were very saucy and well seasoned. There was no classy way to eat them--they were that good. For our entrées, we ordered the goat shoulder and the half rack of lamb chops. The half rack is more than enough for one person, especially with naan and rice. The reviewers were not lying when they said you must try the lamb chops. They came out sizzling, and we laughed because it took us back to dining at Chili's (iykyk). Perfectly seasoned and incredibly tender. The same goes for the goat shoulder. This was my first time trying it, and I was very impressed with how good it tasted. While I'm not usually a dessert person, you must try the carrot pastry. Think of it like a McDonald's apple pie (the old-school one), but with warm carrot filling on the inside and a sprinkle of pistachio on the outside--just 10x better. Everything here tasted spectacular, including the chili naan. Can't wait to come back and try more dishes.

The food was exceptional -- aroma, flavors, spice levels, portions; everything was perfect. While visiting London, a local friend invited me to Dishoom, knowing how much I love Indian cuisine. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon around 5PM, and the place was already packed. They don't take reservations for dinner unless you're a large group, but trust me, the wait is worth it. They have a fantastic bar where you can grab drinks while you wait for a table (they give you buzzers). I tried the Negroni and another tequila-based cocktail (sadly I can't remember the name), and both were phenomenal. Shared plates are definitely the way to go at Dishoom. We ordered the gunpowder potatoes (incredible), an appetizer with potatoes and pineapple (not my favorite; the pineapple threw me off), monkfish curry (amazing), and chicken curry. It was a lot of food for just two of us, but I couldn't stop eating. I seriously wanted to bottle up that sauce! The service was surprisingly impeccable, especially considering how busy they were. We ended up spending about £110 for an incredible dinner, and we nearly couldn't finish everything. Lastly, the ambiance! Inspired by Iranian cafes in India, the atmosphere at Dishoom is eclectic. I loved the dim lighting, unique decor, and the lively pace of the restaurant. Just go!
