Fab food, perfect for a group
Mark D.

Fabulous food, terrible service.... but the food makes it worth it. Cheap and delicious. Mains arrived 3 mins after the starters were delivered, and the credit card machine stopped working.... although there was no warning of this when we booked ot arrived...but the lamb chops starter's were so good that it's still a 5 star rating.

Fish masala and roti

I felt a little guilty as we passed the blue neon glow of Tayyabs calling out to me but we walked on by and turned right to Needoo's. I have spent the best part of twenty years locked in an affair with Lahore Kebab House and Tayyabs - each with their charms and faults. But tonight I was with friends and they wanted to try somewhere new. When it comes to Punjabi I don't do new....why would I? But Needoo's wasn't really new... this was a Tayyabs clone. Done well but not perfect. No queue, no licence and a short menu with the focus on grills. Ticked my boxes. Poppadoms and sauces were very good - better than Tayyabs actually but that wasn't why we were here. Lamb chops and seek kebabs plus roti followed. It was all fine...but not the real deal..seek kebabs just a bit too pattie like..not enough texture but spicing was good. Lamb chops - again tasty - but the grill needs to go up a notch - just not chargrilled enough. Sizzle plates but no sizzle....not hot enough to make the onions caramelised and no pungent aroma to entice you in. Fish masala was very very good - deep sauce and fish perfectly cooked - not dried out like I have encountered too many times before. So reason to visit again... The staff were great..we sat and drank our rum with them topping up the ice. It was great to kickback and take our time without waiters trying to free up the table. Overall very good - but not Tayyabs and Lahore good. Next time and there will be a next time despite the guilt I will explore the menu a bit deeper and beyond my trusted Punjabi favourites..

I am sitting in Needoo after seeing a friend recommend it. So far so good; my seekh kebab was excellent and service is lightning fast My chana chicken was excellent too. The only downside is that this place is just as busy as Tayyab's around the corner!

I love this place - the quality of the food, the staff, the vibe but it let's itself down with such limited vegan and vegetarian choices

The curries and biryanies faired much better than the grilled items. Good food in a low atmosphere. BYOB.

One of the great mysteries of the night was the 'Daighi slow cooked dry meat,' which was one of the best tasting things I've had the pleasure of putting in my mouth hol

We got the dry meat and it was a good portion, nothing exceptional per se. The naan had pools of ghee on it which I don't think was necessary. The menus are sticky and the bathrooms are pretty dirty. Found this restaurant on Yelp after seeing such great reviews and I wasn't disappointed! At first, I was nervous my friend and I wouldn't get a table due to how busy the restaurant was but since we were only two people, we had no issue getting a table. Seating is tight! You are almost arm to arm with the individuals sitting around you which I actually found to be a great experience. My friend and I ended up striking conversation with the people next to us which led to a fun dining experience. Service was quick! We ordered food and it came out quickly and all waiters were super attentive. In terms of food, everything was absolutely delicious and portion sizes were huge! First we ordered the lamb chops and the samosas which were absolutely amazing. We then ordered the chicken and lamb dishes with the naan which completely filled us. I can't wait to come back and I will absolutely be dreaming about this restaurant until I come back!

So we did some research. Somewhere along the line we found Meraz written up as one of the 12 best Indian restaurants in England. Okay, so we trek over to the East End (pretty wild neighborhood that we enjoyed) for dinner at Meraz. My husband was disappointed not to find a particular dish on the menu, but the waiter didn't hesitate to offer to have the kitchen whip it up special for him. My husband also went a little wild ordering all sorts of appetizers and side dishes. Now I don't like to deal in hyperbole. A five star rating should be sufficient praise. But I'm going to go overboard just this once: BEST INDIAN FOOD I'VE EVER EATEN IN A RESTAURANT. EVER. I've eaten in Indian restaurants at home in Chicago, in L.A., New York, St.Louis, Atlanta, San Francisco, etc., etc. etc. Many have been good, but none approached this. We ate every scrap of all the food we ordered, and only because we had a tight timeline and a busy itinerary for our brief visit to London did we not go back for at least a second meal.

He was so popular that he eventually developed a fixed premises outlet and expanded over Pakistan, Dubai and now the U.K. My visit however left me feeling that I need to get out to the real Karachi joint if im gonna be wowed! I went on Saturaday for lunch and we were the only other table at the place. so we ordered a feast and waited and waited until rather bewilderingly all the food arrived at once starters and mains. i didnt appreciate this since i was starving and isnt it the norm to ask if you want everything brought to the table together? i thought this was not on for a smart looking restaurant. As we know Asian food can get a bit messy and well i got messy then realised that we didnt even have serviettes at our place settings and then the staff were not on hand to tell them of their oversight adding further rage to my experience. The thing is i would usually excuse such things but not when youre paying the price they charge. The only attentive service we got was when the manager came over to charge us - man he was so laying on the charm, but sorry pal you lost my custom as soon as the food arrived. I could see from the business card bowl on the counter that this is City folk lunch spot and thats all, where the food gets churned outta the kitchen unloved by its makers. The food was ok nothing to write home about, we asked for prathas and instead we got purries, by this point i was way to hungary to point this out and since it was half in my belly i continued shoving the rest in.

It is a little blander than its American edition but nevertheless a pleasure to scarf down one's gullet hole. :) They have amazingly reasonable deals. Only 6 quid for a kind of chicken curry + rice + veggies + a can of soda! Luckily, we went in just as the lunch crowd rushed in behind us. This place seems to be a quick lunch stop for a wide range of people (i.e., men in suits, biker chicks, foreigners like me, locals (I'm guessing), etc.) My one regret is that I didn't buy another meal to takeaway (American: takeout). I really should have. Talking about regrets, I actually have one more: I forgot to take a picture of the food and realized I should have halfway through the meal. Oops...

I needed a curry fix and this place seemed to be the cheapest on Brick Lane. It is all formica table tops, fixed chairs and bright lights. It would have had the atmosphere of a grubby yet sterile take-away, except that it was packed with locals and a few suits. I had some truly great pilau rice (there is a difference), a tongue-tastically flavoursom saag chicken and a tarka dahl. If I don't have tarka dahl every so often, I become morose and feel not only physically hollow but a little emotionally bereft. This dahl here was not inspirational, not the sort of dahl to order as a last meal, nor sell a kidney for, it wasn't mouth-orgasmic, but it was OK and the rice and saag chicken made up for it. At just a shade over a fiver, this place may see my bot on one of their chairs again very soon. I noticed a few locals having lamb biriani with what looked like rather crunchy and pleasant fried chicken, but I can't vouch for it. I accidentally had a KFC once, it was the second worst thing I have ever put in my mouth.
