No frills Indian-Pakistani restaurant with amazing lamb chops. Used to go here all the time with mates to have some awesome lamb while bringing in a few beers to wash it down with. Made an RSVP (which is def recommended as it gets busy) and was sat right away. Table was a bit cramped, but was expected. Server came around and immediately asked what we wanted. Ended up ordering some channa, dahl, lamb chops, and chicken tikka. The channa was a little salty, the dahl and chicken tikka were good, but the lamb chops - was 100 all the way. Would def come here again for the meats.

Returned to Tayyabs after 10 long years and the only thing that has changed is the ease of getting into this place. We managed to get a last minute 10 pm reservation on a Fri night and food continues to be in line with expectations. The place hasn't gone through any upgrades in terms of seating or decor, and it shows on their chairs and walls at places - but if that doesn't bother you - stick to ordering their classic dishes like the Lamb Chops, or the the Chicken Kadhai and you won't be disappointed. Yes, food is on the oiler side, and yes, its not for the health conscious person, but hey - we all deserve a cheat meal! Service was good and food arrived within 20 mins. Btw, their mango lassi is rich but has a disgusting texture. We were surprised to see people order jugs of it! And this is a BYOB place!

Great food, bustling environment, stern yet lightning fast service. Will definitely be returning. Don't let the below 4 star rating fool you. This place was completely packed on a tuesday night for a reason!

A friend recommended it while I was visiting London and the food did not disappoint. The poppadom with mango chutney was so good! The paneer and the mix grill were so tasty. The flavors were perfect, the meat was tender, and their naan was buttery and fluffy. The service was quick and the place was packed for the weekend. We were seated on the second floor and the place was decorated well, the windows were open allowing in a perfect breeze. Great spot for family and friends!

We received a recommendation from someone local to come here instead of Bricklane. I wish we hadn't listened. We made a reservation so didn't have to wait long for a table. Unfortunately we were sat in an odd corner and promptly forgotten about. A waiter finally came by around 20 minutes after sitting. Our food took around 30 minutes to arrive after ordering, while we saw other tables sit, order, and get food in less than that amount of time. The food itself was nothing special. Our dry meat lamb chops were overcooked and hard to chew. "Dry meat" was an apt description. The sauce on our chicken was delicious but the chicken itself was very dry inside. Garlic naan was on point. Would not come again. This place seems propped up by its past reputation. If you have a large group of 20-something men, this might be your spot. They have plenty of large tables and it is BYO. For anyone else, just avoid.

Dined on 30 December 2023 I went here after seeing another Yelper's mouthwatering lambchops picture. We were not disappointed. The prices are reasonable. We paid approximately £40 total for meals for 2 people, no drinks. Just like most things we've noticed around London city, this restaurant is tucked away in a side street in an unsuspecting location. It is a large space, but seating is tight as they cram a lot of tables into a small space to maximize occupancy. Our table seemed very small and barely fit the dishes we had. For meals, we had lamb chops and  mutton Tikka, which came out on a skillet still sizzling. We had small prawns, which came in a stew-like dish. We expected individually cooked prawns as an appetizer, but it was good nonetheless. We topped it all off with garlic Naan that was not very garlicky and rice with green peas and small yellow pieces that I mistook for cheese (I'm still not sure what the yellow pieces are in the rice). We also had a side salad and papadam (unsure of spelling) with sauces.  The food was good. Each meal was perfectly seasoned with the right amount of spices without being overly spicy.

What can you say about Indian food in London? You would think that it has to be very close to being in India... and it is when you consider Tayyabs. Located in Whitechappel which is a highly Asian population, Tayyabs is one of the best Indian food experiences in London, as rated by many magazines. And really it does not disappoint. The ambiance is very authentic and old world - as if they never updated from their 1972 beginnings. The staff is knowledgeable and the service is quick. Food prices are very affordable. They do charge you for the papads and the water, but for the food being so prices amazing, it's worth it. The flavors and size of dishes make it fully with it. Great value.

Came here on 04 2024. Hello mate and thanks for following me on my UK journey. . Definitely come here for their grilled sizzling meat chops!. . But first make sure you do a reservation it is a zoo in here. Meaning it's crowded quick. As well it expedites the waiting. Some say it doesn't work and for me rvsp worked like a charm. As soon we checked in, we went upstairs seating. It was around 7pm, and it was empty. 720 comes around and boom all seats filled. . There is no alcohol to purchase so everyone brought their own bottle. You may purchase from next door which is a small liquor store. As well there is no tap water, they only charge and serve you bottle stilled water. . Grilled lamb chops - omg so heavenly. Mama was so happy. And 4 pieces for only 10 dollar usd. It was a steal. . Grilled king prawns -a must get if you love seafood or prawns. It was amazing. . Grilled kebab - if you love meat it was yummy. Definitely recommended. It's a mix between beef and lamb I believe. So good with the sauce tray they provide you which enhance the flavors. . Tikka chicken masala - don't recommend it was basic. Not as good as in usa where I try Tikka masala. But it was fun to try the dish where it was invented from in london for chicken Tikka masala. . Sagg paneer - don't recommend, it was missing flavor and was just basic. Best to date is pooja in west sacramento. For sagg paneer. . Garlic Nann - only one piece and charged per piece big enough to share. . Overall service was great. The manager saw me fanning myself due to the smoke and warmth. He opened the window for me and I loved the prince royalty treatment. We had a blast people watching and I see lots of friends coming here for celebration and drinks. Thanks for reading andhope this review is useful. Follow me for more. Have a yelptastic day mate.

Suggested as a must-visit for Indian food while in London, Tayyabs did not disappoint. TLDR: Good Indian food; quick service; polite servers Tayyabs was a good recommendation and we loved everything we ordered. We have the chef's special for the Lamb Chops in karahi masala and the Kebabs. Also all their chutneys are really good. Chops could've been more succulent for my liking but still were decently good.

Food was so good I forgot to take a picture before starting

We found the food here excellent, all dishes we ordered were served promptly and were delicious. Heard the chicken tikka masala was one of the best in London; it did not disappoint. Attentive staff too, overall an outstanding location. Will definitely go again.

As an outsider I consider myself a backyard connoisseur of Indian food. This spot was utterly incredible, highly recommended by two separate people I met in London, and I had to give it a try. The service was amazing and made my trip to England so special. Most US spots don't have Peshwari naan and pilau rice together, so I made sure to treat myself. Located in the historic Whitechappel neighborhood - you will not want to miss this place.

The food was exceptional -- aroma, flavors, spice levels, portions; everything was perfect. While visiting London, a local friend invited me to Dishoom, knowing how much I love Indian cuisine. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon around 5PM, and the place was already packed. They don't take reservations for dinner unless you're a large group, but trust me, the wait is worth it. They have a fantastic bar where you can grab drinks while you wait for a table (they give you buzzers). I tried the Negroni and another tequila-based cocktail (sadly I can't remember the name), and both were phenomenal. Shared plates are definitely the way to go at Dishoom. We ordered the gunpowder potatoes (incredible), an appetizer with potatoes and pineapple (not my favorite; the pineapple threw me off), monkfish curry (amazing), and chicken curry. It was a lot of food for just two of us, but I couldn't stop eating. I seriously wanted to bottle up that sauce! The service was surprisingly impeccable, especially considering how busy they were. We ended up spending about £110 for an incredible dinner, and we nearly couldn't finish everything. Lastly, the ambiance! Inspired by Iranian cafes in India, the atmosphere at Dishoom is eclectic. I loved the dim lighting, unique decor, and the lively pace of the restaurant. Just go!

So we did some research. Somewhere along the line we found Meraz written up as one of the 12 best Indian restaurants in England. Okay, so we trek over to the East End (pretty wild neighborhood that we enjoyed) for dinner at Meraz. My husband was disappointed not to find a particular dish on the menu, but the waiter didn't hesitate to offer to have the kitchen whip it up special for him. My husband also went a little wild ordering all sorts of appetizers and side dishes. Now I don't like to deal in hyperbole. A five star rating should be sufficient praise. But I'm going to go overboard just this once: BEST INDIAN FOOD I'VE EVER EATEN IN A RESTAURANT. EVER. I've eaten in Indian restaurants at home in Chicago, in L.A., New York, St.Louis, Atlanta, San Francisco, etc., etc. etc. Many have been good, but none approached this. We ate every scrap of all the food we ordered, and only because we had a tight timeline and a busy itinerary for our brief visit to London did we not go back for at least a second meal.

They had the perfect amount of grill flavor and were very saucy and well seasoned. There was no classy way to eat them--they were that good. For our entrées, we ordered the goat shoulder and the half rack of lamb chops. The half rack is more than enough for one person, especially with naan and rice. The reviewers were not lying when they said you must try the lamb chops. They came out sizzling, and we laughed because it took us back to dining at Chili's (iykyk). Perfectly seasoned and incredibly tender. The same goes for the goat shoulder. This was my first time trying it, and I was very impressed with how good it tasted. While I'm not usually a dessert person, you must try the carrot pastry. Think of it like a McDonald's apple pie (the old-school one), but with warm carrot filling on the inside and a sprinkle of pistachio on the outside--just 10x better. Everything here tasted spectacular, including the chili naan. Can't wait to come back and try more dishes.

Location: The restaurant is a little out of the main road and it is just down after the Hakkasan which is next door so easy to find once you get on the right road. Decor & Lighting: Modern design with low light levels and separate bar area as well as a separate private dining room so great for events and private parties. Open Kitchen so you can see all the work. If you want to take photos in the evening you will need to take a light and/or flash. With large glass windows however i think light levels will be fine during the day. Ambience & Acoustics: No need to shout here and music is background and not overpowering. I am sure they can turn up the volume as desired should you want more of a party given i have seen they do live music events in the bar area. But during a normal dinner the level of background music was perfect so you can actually talk without needing to shout. Drinks: Many options here but as i do not drink i focus on the mocktails and they had a good selection and again the staff were able to adjust and amend any based on your taste. You also can get masala chai by the way for all the fans out there. We had the following: Passion Infusion - Asked for one to be more citrus and loved it. Very fresh and sweet but i really enjoyed it. Darbaar Smoothie - A nice red berry drink, thick but full of flavour, i got a hint of cinnamon but i like cinnamon so no complaints there. Food: There is a good selection of food but not too much that you cannot make you mind up. It does seem at first that there is a limited vegetarian selection but this is not the case as they are able to accommodate and make dishes off the menu. One of the party was vegetarian and did not go hungry. Portion size is perfect as any more and we would have wasted it. Worth sharing dishes so you can taste a wider selection. Food all arrived promptly and hot. We had the following: Papad and Chutneys - Great selection and mini papad making it a lot easier to share. Came with three chutneys, all were great and different to the usual. Corn Fritters - Veg option and small portion size but it was nice but not spicy Grill platter (to share) - We asked for the salmon to be substituted which was no issue and you get a selection of Panner, Lamb Sheekh, Murgh Malai Kebab as well as Tandoori Salmon which we had subbed out. The selection and food was fresh and clean. All tasty but mild with the exception of the Lamb Sheekh which had a little kick to it. Chutney served with the dish was just right. Nothing was left.... Nizami / Baby Aubergine - Again everyone liked the dish and something i have not tasted before, came in a sauce which i tried as i don't really like Aubergine (just the consistency i think) but i did enjoy the dish and great vegetarian option for a main course which is not on the menu. I noticed another review said it was caked in oil but i did not find this was the case when we visited. Cumin Roasted Potatoes - Cooked perfectly and a nice side dish. Kasturi Butter Chicken - Cooked well and tasted nice but i am not sure how you can really make a butter chicken taste much different as you get a similar taste in many good Indian restaurants but not too sweet and classic taste so you know what to expect. Rice / Garlic Nan and Roti all served cut and initially looks like a small portion but really fresh and not thick but plenty for us. Garlic nan was really nice and not overpowering. The rice was also really perfectly cooked and very aromatic. Could have eaten the rice just by itself. Desert - Not a large selection but plenty to choose from and they do specials of the day. I was lucky as the special was one of my favourites a Dark Chocolate Fondant with Cinnamon ice cream. Really lovely chocolate sauce inside and it was really good, even though i was full i could not resist and had to eat all of it. Single portion size but enough for a dessert. Highly recommend this dessert if you are a fan of chocolate. Staff / Service: Everyone was super friendly and attentive. There was only some confusion over a second drinks order but this was rectified with no fuss and it is important to know that any issues are dealt with. Head Waiter was always attentive and kept passing by and was always able to help and advice on dishes and happy to make amendments to a dish and even suggested and made off the menu items. We were also introduced to Abdul Yaseen who is the owner and chef. Which was a nice touch. Bill / Cost: We had three in our party and we shared dishes with only mocktails and no alcoholic drinks and the bill came to £50 per head (£150 total for three of us) which i think is reasonable for fine dining. But i would add another £20-40 for those drinking depending on how much is consumed. Conclusion: I would highly recommend a visit and its nice to be in a different area
