The service was crap, food was below average, and atmosphere wasn't great. Price wise isn't that cheap and they charge for every thing.

Absolutely loved Tayyabs!…read more The one thing I knew I needed when visiting London was Indian food and I'm so happy I found this restaurant. Found this restaurant on Yelp after seeing such great reviews and I wasn't disappointed! At first, I was nervous my friend and I wouldn't get a table due to how busy the restaurant was but since we were only two people, we had no issue getting a table. Seating is tight! You are almost arm to arm with the individuals sitting around you which I actually found to be a great experience. My friend and I ended up striking conversation with the people next to us which led to a fun dining experience. Service was quick! We ordered food and it came out quickly and all waiters were super attentive. In terms of food, everything was absolutely delicious and portion sizes were huge! First we ordered the lamb chops and the samosas which were absolutely amazing. We then ordered the chicken and lamb dishes with the naan which completely filled us. I can't wait to come back and I will absolutely be dreaming about this restaurant until I come back!

Absolutely delicious. One of the best meals I've had on my trip. I ordered the tandoori chicken,…read moretandoori lamb chops, tikka masala, garlic naan and rice. The tandoori items come out sizzling on a hot plate marinated to perfection. They also bring you some complimentary pappadum and salad. There are three sauces on each table (yogurt, a sweet hot sauce, and a tamarind? Sauce. A pitcher of water is also there for your convenience which I love. All the items are very reasonably priced. On my way out I noticed some people bringing in beer so maybe BYOB? I would definitely come back here. Seems like it gets busy so plan accordingly.

I loved staying in Shoreditch while visiting London because of all of the international cuisine…read moreoptions. I knew there had to be a Korean place nearby, and Kinkao was right around the corner from where I was staying. The inside of the restaurant is much bigger than expected from the outside, with lots of seating areas. I made a reservation for lunch at 1pm but it wasn't really needed; there were only two other people there at the time. I wanted to try the oi kimchi (spicy cucumber salad) but they were out, so I got regular kimchi and bulgogi as an entree. The kimchi was perfect; nice and spicy and crunchy. The bulgogi was more peppery and not as sweet as I'm used to, but I overheard my server telling another customer that they prepare it a little differently than traditional bulgogi. It was still very good and there was an ample portion of beef mixed in with glass noodles and veggies. It was so much food that I wasn't able to finish it all. The prices are very reasonable and my entire bill was about £18 (I also got a Diet Coke and large still water). The service was friendly, but a bit slow, especially considering by the time I left there were only three parties, including myself. After my dishes were cleared I waited about 10 minutes but still had to ask for my bill. It wasn't a huge deal because I wasn't in a rush, but I thought it was odd that the bill wasn't brought out shortly after my dishes were taken away. Either way, this is a good, affordable option if you're looking for Korean food in the area.

I don't get that excited about eating out around Whitechapel Tube station - it's a lot of fast food…read morefried chicken and questionable hole-in-the-wall spots covered in 10 years' worth of grease and grime. Imagine my surprise to stroll into Zaza's, at the heart of Whitechapel (a stone's throw from the Mosque) and get great, friendly service and fantastic food and drink. On the recommendation of a co-worker, I had the kebab roll off the starters menu, with is minced lamb and comes with naan. At £2 and with such a basic sounding description, I wasn't expecting much. But a wonderfully presented entrée that included two kebabs piled on a fresh-baked and perfectly cooked naan, topped with fresh tomato, cucumber and red onion and drizzled with mint sauce really impressed. I tend to find lamb entrees too salty, but this was not. It was simple, good quality meat and well-spiced. Not only was it an ample serving, the ingredients were good - the veggies fresh and crunchy and naan doughy and crispy in all the right places. And for just £2?! Consider me a fan. I also sampled a mango lassi (a yogurt based drink, I would call it a smoothie) that was tasty, of good consistency and not too sweet, but in my opinion should have been served colder (was slightly less than room temperature). Note: They take cards but with a £10 minimum.

The food is excellent. As good as, if not better than, everywhere else around, including Tayyab's and Needo. 3. The staff are friendly and the service is fast 4. Unlike most other places nearby, the whole place is clean, including the toilets 5. The decor is a cut above the standard you find elsewhere. It's not amazing, but you can see they've at least put a bit of effort into it.

Not just "hyped", dishoom deserves the recognition!…read more SERVICE Amazing service, easy to make reservations online, and easy to check in and get seated once your entire party has arrived. INSIDE Spacious, clean, and plenty of seating both upstairs and down. MENU For larger parties, they recommend their prefix menu which includes a various sampling of lots of delicious items. FOOD 10/10 I haven't eaten Indian food much, but was thoroughly impressed. From my mango lassi which was perfectly sweetened and tart to buttered buns, fried okra, black Dahl, garlic naan, and lamb skewers, everything was delicious. I esp loved the lamb skewers! We ordered a side of garlic naan with cheese which is basically a quesadilla and it was super cheesy and delicious as well. OVERALL Would def recommend Dishoom when visiting London. It'll definitely be a hit in your books!

The food was exceptional -- aroma, flavors, spice levels, portions; everything was perfect. While visiting London, a local friend invited me to Dishoom, knowing how much I love Indian cuisine. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon around 5PM, and the place was already packed. They don't take reservations for dinner unless you're a large group, but trust me, the wait is worth it. They have a fantastic bar where you can grab drinks while you wait for a table (they give you buzzers). I tried the Negroni and another tequila-based cocktail (sadly I can't remember the name), and both were phenomenal. Shared plates are definitely the way to go at Dishoom. We ordered the gunpowder potatoes (incredible), an appetizer with potatoes and pineapple (not my favorite; the pineapple threw me off), monkfish curry (amazing), and chicken curry. It was a lot of food for just two of us, but I couldn't stop eating. I seriously wanted to bottle up that sauce! The service was surprisingly impeccable, especially considering how busy they were. We ended up spending about £110 for an incredible dinner, and we nearly couldn't finish everything. Lastly, the ambiance! Inspired by Iranian cafes in India, the atmosphere at Dishoom is eclectic. I loved the dim lighting, unique decor, and the lively pace of the restaurant. Just go!
