Popped into this lovely and unassuming Indian restaurant after hearing great local reviews. I was on the hunt for some Indian take-away after a long day exploring London and the Paddington location was very close to the station! There seemed to be regulars dining in and really enjoying the food which seemed like a positive. I wasn't feeling very adventurous so ordered the chef specialty dish of butter chicken with saffron pulao rice and garlic naan. The rice and garlic naan were separate. The chicken is cooked in the tandoor and you can really taste the smokeyness it adds to it. I enjoyed the dish very much, although it was a bit sweeter than what I'm used to. The garlic naan was delicious! Also a pleasant surprise was what I believe to be a large puffed rice cracker/cake and mint parsley chutney that was added in complimentary! Best Shahi Chicken Korma & Chicken Tikka Massala I have ever had! Both savory, and creamy with the sweetness from the coconut milk & tender chunks of chicken. The Saffron Pilau Rice was fluffy & tasty & paired well together. We ordered a side of Garlic Nann which is an absolute must! I love hot sauce & they have two. I chose the 'hottest' which was the vindaloo & it was flavorful with just the right amount of heat to add to any dish. The Mango Lassi was sweet & salty, & the perfect balance to the entrees. I highly recommend this Indian restaurant located in a gorgeous area. We sat outside on a lovely evening at around 9p & the sun was just setting. NoorJahan is great neighborhood Indian restaurant. It is located in Paddington and has sidewalk seating as well as indoor, air conditioned seating. On the night we went, it was a little later and was much cooler than it had been so we sat outside. The host promptly greeted us and sat us at a table and gave us menus. We had out backpacks with us and he kindly took them and placed them off to the side so they weren't at our feet. Our server cam to greet us and brought water. We asked a couple questions about the menu. I asked if they had lamb korma. It wasn't on the menu but he said they could still make it. Score!!! He also told me about different rice options to go with the curry that I hadn't seen on the menu. We ended up ordering a lamb seekh kebab appetizer, garlic naan, lamb korma with coconut rice, panir makhani and plain rice. Yes this was for two people and somehow we did eat almost all of it! The seekh kebab's were absolutely wonderful. They were full of flavor and then came with this herb sauce that made it even better. I could eat those once a week easily! The garlic naan was very good. It has a good amount of garlic and coriander which is my favorite part. The bread was also nice a slightly fluffy. The lamb korma was not like I get in the states. It was a little sweet with no heat. I actually liked it. It was different but very good. The lamb was very tender and the sauce had a wonderful flavor and consistency. The coconut rice was amazing! I could eat it on a regular basis, it honestly didn't even need the curry but it just added something even more special to the curry and I really enjoyed it! My sister seemed to like her panir makhani and rice. The meal was well priced, about on par with other Indian restaurants. The service was great and at the end we got this very yummy little piece of chocolate. Great service, great food, nice sidewalk restaurant. Seriously a great meal. I would easily recommend and if I lived anywhere in the vicinity I would be there on a regular basis! read more

Food was great ; service was acceptable BUT a few things to be aware of; Everything is extra - rice, Naan etc which is fine - just watch what u order and what is 'recommended' The biggest bother was the aggressive tip ask- we charged the meaL and the manager ask we tip in cash- normally a % gratuity is added to the bill, which it was not here- however we tipped out 20% and the manager actually stood there and said 'is this all'? Returning to London from several days in Germany, I wanted to get my Indian fix in. NoorJahan II offers up familiar dishes (sizzling tandoori plates, chicken tikka masala, a nice selection of chicken, lamb, and veggie curries) prepared with care. While vindaloo (and phal) were tempting, I went with something milder: rogan josh with a side of Peshawari naan and a bottle of Cobra (a smooth Indian lager). That rogan josh was among the best I'd ever had: the lamb was fork tender, bathed in a richly spiced tomato curry. The naan, topped with toasted sesame seeds and filled with nuts and raisins, sopped up lingering curry. I was in London staying at the Paddington Station Hilton Hotel for a 24 hour layover. I was coming from Greece on my way back to the United States. I asked the concierge if there was any good Indian food in the area and he recommended Noor Jahan ll. It was about a 15 minute walk from the hotel. The restaurant was small but nice. The wait staff was very friendly and helpful. To start we got the Tandoori Chicken. It was amazing. Next we ordered some vegetable Samosas. These were made to perfection and the sauces that accompanied them were great and flavorful. For our main course we ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala. The flavor was robust and life changing. It was the best I've ever had. We also got a vegetarian dish and it was good as well. The garlic naan was incredible too. This restaurant was worth every penny and when ever I'm back in London I will return to this restaurant. read more

Every time we're in London we dine at Noor Jahan II. I usually stay in the area for work but even when I'm chilling elsewhere in London I will get my fix. Their dishes are authentic and delicious. I've brought some folks here for their first "real" Indian food but then received word later that their local fare was subpar compared to their 1st at Noor Jahan II. I've spoiled them foewv! Food is ok, not exceptional, but solid, tasty options. We shared the onion bhajee as an app, which was good but a little oily. The main course was vegetable biriani, mushroom mukerjee and a side of aloo gobi. Service was not good; at one point one of the waiters serving us gave the wrong apps to the wrong tables and then didn't even notice us swapping with our neighbors under his nose. If your first intro to British Indian cuisine, this isn't where I would recommend. You will get a bigger experience in Brick Lane with more choices for the same/lower price. read more

I loved how it's location allowed us to take the tube to Paddington station where I got to pose with Paddington Bear himself, haha. Just terrible. I'm a Indian foodie snob and lived in India, own a business there + studied there in college. When you hear London is full of great Indian restaurants this restaurant would dissuade you. The secret ingredient for this establishment's dishes is sugar. Like 2 cups of sugar per curry dish at least. It is so gross and disgusting. I asked the waiter "why is this curry extremely sweet" he says "because it's curry" I said "no there's over 2 cups of sugar drenched in this" and he said "well next time tell me you don't want sweet." WTH? Think this restaurant caters to people scared of Indian food but think it's good because they are tasting candy. I don't understand how else it could get away with this nonsense! read more

I used yelp reviews to find this place. The wife and I are at the Paddington Hilton so thanks to the guy who left a positive review that also stayed there. I'll add that there is a downstairs option so if it seems full, don't despair. There is likely still plenty of room. Note, being that the place is busy and knowing how the British love their Indian food, well that bodes pretty well for the place. The food is prepared with precision and the flavors are distinctive. The samosas were outstanding. I also had the lamb Biriani which was outstanding. I chose the lamb and did not regret it at all. We ended with the mango Lassi (sp?) which was really good as well. The one mistake I did make was to order garlic naan. Too garlicky for my taste when mixed with the food. The naan itself though was soft and marvelous. A short walk from Paddington train station, Noorjahan fulfilled my desire for delicious Indian food in London. The restaurant is in a quiet neighborhood sufficiently removed from the busy tourist traffic of the train station, with a nice outdoor eating area. I arrived at 9:30 pm for a late dinner--the kitchen is open until 11 or 11:30 pm--and found plenty of seating. Service was efficient though not particularly friendly, maybe because I was a solo diner. I started with a vegetable samosa, followed by lamb rogan josh, with garlic naan on the side. All washed down with Cobra beer. I savored every bite of every dish--the samosa had a light, crispy shell and was filled with large chunks of vegetables. The rogan josh was served on a bed of rice and was succulent and flavorful, not too spicy. And the naan was light, fluffy and just a bit chewy. I don't know enough about Indian food to know whether it was authentic, but I've had enough to know when it's good versus merely so-so. And this was really good. read more

There are so many good Indian restaurants in London, and while Noorjahan isn't the fanciest, it's definitely one of the tastiest. Service: Friendly and fast. Ambiance: Not a large place, and we were the only ones enjoying lunch the day before NYE. Super clean, even the bathrooms, which is a difficult thing to find in an Indian restaurant. Food: Everything was delicious. -- Samosas: My 9-year-old ate 2 of these and couldn't stop saying how much she liked them. I didn't get to try them (she doesn't share well). -- Spinach Kabob: Not sure exactly what this appetizer was called, it was mix between a pakora and a kabob, made of spinach and fried. SO unhealthy but SO good. -- Chicken Tikka - My husband said it was excellent (I don't eat chicken). -- Tarka Dal - Excellent. -- Dried Mixed Vegetable - Not greasy and quite tasty. -- Plain Rice - It was rice, what can I say? -- Naan / Tandoor Roti / Aloo Paratha - We went a bit crazy on the carbs but they were all quite good. Got food to go and went based on others reviews. ordered three main dishes and they did not come with rice so we had to order that. also got some Naan. the Naan was good. the main dishes were very generous if you got. vegetarian items but the one meat dish was not as generous. all three were ok but lacked seasoning and flavour. the place didn't ask how hot to make it but based on the markings of the lids,. they made then what they considered medium so I would have expected flavor. We finally ordered 5 dishes each under 14 pounds, 1 Kabab appetizer under 9 pounds, 4 rice, one garlic nan and 3 bottle waters and we were presented with a one line handwritten bill for 160 pounds. Had such an awful experience. I came alone around 1pm. There was no one else in the entire restaurant. I end up waiting for about 5 minutes before he comes and gives me a menu. I end up asking to get 2 items on the menu, as it turns out there is an 18pound minimum. So I order another two side items to hit the minimum. If I ordered any more I wouldn't be able to finish anything. The guy is already rude from the start and becomes even more so after I order the remaining food. Looking at me if I was cheap etc... Then two white British guys come in and sit down. This time he immediately serves them and gives them papaddum for free without them asking. When I had already ordered it. They came in 10 minutes after I did and were served food and drinks 5 minutes before I was even given a glass of water. Which I had to ask for. Service of this one guy was terrible and will never have me come back. Normally I would never write anything bad, but this experience was just terrible overall. Even as I was asking for the bill eating he started clearing the food while I was eating from one of the dishes... I don't recall what the Duchess and I ate, just that everything was delicious, and the prices were reasonable, the service good, and the ambience cozy. A bit too cozy, perhaps, if you desire intimate conversation (with your dining partner, not the strangers at your elbow), but nevertheless we were glad to have dined here. A note for cilantro-averse North American diners: in Britain, the herb that we call "cilantro" they call "coriander," whereas we think of the coriander seed when we hear "coriander." read more

For the food and sauces and your drinks - the table is small and gets pretty cluttered with everything. Service was super quick and they anticipated our needs. It is expensive.
