This was an excellent Indian food restaurant. My dish for 1 was delicious and filling. My new friends from Oregon loved their food as well. The menu has a variety of choices and should satisfy your craving for authentic fare. It is clean and easy to get to. It is very simple in decor and the food very good. I thought their drought beer choices were limited and this restaurant required buying the bottle of still water. Upcharging meal options seemed very natural here and unfortunately the language barrier prevent a 5 Star experience. read more

Stopped in here on a weeknight at the recommendation of our hotel concierge-- my husband and I were the only diners in the restaurant for much of the evening and had a wonderful experience. The curries have some serious heat, especially compared to other Indian restaurants we tried in the area. The wait staff were incredibly attentive and kind-- they took the time to talk over the menu with us and recommend several of their favorite dishes. We will definitely be back! read more

My family and I were visiting London and this was in walking distance. We'd heard about how good the Indian food was in London and were excited to try it. The food was INCREDIBLE, I can't even begin to describe how amazing and fresh everything was and the service was amazing. Our server gave my sisters and I roses once we were done eating. Just a massive disappointment from beginning to end. On a Sunday lunchtime we were the only customers in the place for the whole time we were there. At least the draught Kingfisher was decent but the food was not at all to our satisfaction. Tandoori mixed grill was dry and short on taste. I went in for lunch on a cold Friday afternoon hoping to get some warmth and some good Indian comfort food. However, the food, ambience and service were all super disappointing. The food was really bland and the roti was half uncooked and very doughy. The owner/managers, thinking I don't understand their language, were clearly having a conversation about me which made me really uncomfortable. After I finished my meal, they cleared my table and threw the silverware around really loudly. I think I could sense from their body language that they were not happy to be serving me. The only tasty thing I had in my torturous 1 hour there was the chocolate covered mint that I had at the end of the meal, minutes before leaving. I wouldn't recommend this place. read more

The restaurant does it all for you. It feels like an accidental special occasion with fancy plates and silverware and... At the end of the meal, they give all the women roses. They sure know how to make us feel special. For that, I will never forget this dining experience. I hear they give out 100 roses or more per week! Don't worry men, they give everyone a piece of mint chocolate, too, so you'll get something at least. ;) I'm used to eating those licorice or herb tasting seeds to clean the palate after a meal so this was a nice change. Oh yeah, the food was pretty tasty, too. Unique curries to try. Vegetarian Thali-Basic basmatic rice, plain naan with a three curry dishes to try. Too bad I don't know the names of the curries, but there was a delicious creamy cauliflower one? Not too salty. There was also an okra one, hey, that's new to me, too! To start off, I was dying to have Indian food during the 3 days in london... finally my friend and I went to this restaurant the night prior to our departure. We met the owner's son who runs the restaurant and he is super friendly and we had a great conversation. The food is so amazing and he told us that it is all about the freshness at his restaurant which we really appreciate when it comes to food. I enjoyed it very much and I would so go back to them. I had my regular pick from the menu as every time I go to an Indian restaurant - chicken tikka marsala and chicken curry. I didn't expect the marsala would be sweet but it was great. read more

Decent food - not a lot of Indian fare in this neighborhood. I was in London for two nights, and the first night I was on my own and wanting to get some Indian food without venturing far from my hotel. Had a pint at The Speaker, then wandered over to the Indian Diner for dinner. It was a Monday night, and few customers there. Service was great (as it should have been since there were few customers that evening). Kingfisher beer was on tap and tasty. Overall food was good but not memorable. For the price, I was hoping for more. I had the meat sampler, which was 19 pounds, and the lamb was a bit tough (had to really push the knife to cut to smaller bites), and I wanted the chicken to have a bit more pizzazz. Presentation and atmosphere is very nice - nicer than the name of the restaurant implies. In a pinch I would go there again, but I'd try somewhere else. read more

Tasty but unspectacular Indian cuisine in a quiet neighborhood setting. The staff were courteous yet not quite personable.

I ordered takeaway and had the Butter chicken, vegetable korma, an off the menu order of Keema Mattar, raita, mango lassi. I'm from the US and I frequently eat Indian food in the SF Bay Area. The butter chicken and the vegetable korma had way too much sugar. It was very very sweet. The keema mattar was very good though. The raita was decent. Would not go back there for anything except the keema mattar. Maybe you can order the food with less sugar? Otherwise the service was fine with aluminum takeaway containers (although takeaway cups would be better for the lassi). You have to be careful it doesn't spill out when you carry it home! read more

I am in England for a couple days of s vacation. I am from am from San Diego and we have a fair amount of Indian restaurants. I ordered the same dishes as I get back home. Huge difference. Sauces are more creamy, meats are more tender, and spices taste more rich. Good food and highly recommended. If I lived here I would eat here all the time. read more

It was our final stay on London and we've been meaning to try an Indian restaurant. We stumbled upon this place as we were walking around the area by our hotel on a separate occasion looking for a place to eat. Oh my gosh, I would have to say this meal was the highlight of my culinary trip in London. The restaurant's name is "The Indian Dinner" but when we asked the server what part of India, they said it was a fusion of Bangladesh and Indian. It was so tasty! We ordered the 2 person meal...the curry, lamb, and tandori chicken were excellent. I have to say that I've had eaten at other Indian restaurants back in the U.S., but never had such a pleasant experience as this. I do have to warn that they require a per person minimum charge of £12. And the ladies get a rose at the end and everyone gets a chocolate mint. We've walked by this place a few times and it appeared empty but it was pretty busy this evening. It's a hidden gem. I liked it very much! read more

Spending 10 days in London we had to find a good Indian restaurant. We did. We ordered the set menu for 4. The dishes were fresh and not overly spiced - maybe because they recognized we were Yankees. Tip is not added to bill as is done by other London eateries so add the appropriate amount when they (finally) bring the bill. read more

I have been dining and ordering take-aways from this restaurant (originally the Rochester Indian) for nearly 5 years and it always does exactly what it says on the tin. If you want a cheap and cheerful curry then you won't be disappointed - the old skool King Prawn Madras is very passable as is the Chicken Biryiani. Breads are cooked in the tandoor and are always great. The decor is very shabby 70's/80's but that just adds to the charm of the place to be honest. A refreshing change from all those pretentious curry places that have sprung up all over town in the last 5 years. read more

The staff was very friendly and accommodating, however the food had WAY too much sugar in it. I order my food Indian spicy and despite all of the spice the sugar in the sauces stood out the most. In fact, one of the items I ordered, the Saag Paneer, had a huge chunk of sugar in it. When I took the first bite I thought there may have been glass in my food. I inspected it, luckily it was just sugar. If there was less sugar in the dishes I would return, but because of the overload of sugar I would definitely seek out another restaurant.
