My computer had completely shut down and my biggest priority was getting the data off of it. I didn't want to bring my computer somewhere where they'd dismiss my emotional attachment to my data and instead try to just get me to purchase a new computer. After speaking with Manu, he was really sympathetic to my attachment to my data, and I felt confident of my computer in their hands. Their team worked tirelessly for MONTHS to get the data from my computer. The lengths they went to (research, working with teams, etc) was way more than I could have asked for. They truly took all the stops to try to get my data back. Unfortunately, my computer had a VERY unique freak accident that was essentially impossible to get the data off of it. I certainly was devastated, but it was absolutely no fault of Manu and team. I am 100% confident that they put their all into getting my data back, and I'm certain that if it wasn't a crazy situation with my computer that they would have succeeded. So please DO NOT misconstrue my situation as this team having a lack of knowledge, ability, or care. I can't stress enough the effort they put into this. They really cared about my personal attachment to my data, and they truly did not give up on it until they tried every possible avenue. They went the extra mile multiple times for me and didn't even burden me with any insane costs during this stressful time. Someone else had told me that the desktop was too old, but we didn't really need a new computer and like to prevent ewaste when we can. Apple &Mac Solutions we bring it in to check it out. So we took it in and to our surprise they were able to fix it! Only needed a new hard drive (ours was the original). And now it boots much faster and so far so good! Before posting this review, I reached out directly to Emergency Guy to give them an opportunity to address my concerns and provide clarification. Unfortunately, I did not receive a response. I came to Emergency Guy seeking guidance after experiencing issues with my HDD and SSD. Overall, the staff and technicians were respectful. However, I did have one interaction with an individual staff member who appeared overwhelmed and frustrated - possibly the owner, Phillip? While that affected the tone of that particular interaction, I understand that these situations can happen. It did not deter me from my overall experience, as I continued working with other staff members who were professional and helped improve the overall tone of the communication. I paidfor an evaluation and assessment, including shipping costs. During a follow-up phone conversation, I was asked over the phone whether I would consider increasing my budget to approximately $2,000 so the HDD could be sent to another company. While I was open to discussing available options, I ultimately decided not to proceed. Approximately four weeks later or longer, I was informed that the HDD platters were damaged and that there was essentially no realistic chance of recovering my data, even through another recovery provider. I was also asked whether I wanted the drive recycled, which I understood as disposing of the device, and I chose not to proceed with that option. I sought additional professional opinions. After receiving a second and third evaluation from other data recovery companies, I was advised that the condition of the HDD did not appear to match the assessment I had originally received. This experience raised concerns about the accuracy of the initial evaluation. Since I paid it, I expected a clear and accurate diagnosis of the drive's condition, along with realistic information regarding possible recovery options. My concern is not that recovery was uncertain -- I understand that data recovery can be complex and that outcomes are never guaranteed. My concern is that I was told it was beyond recovery, yet further evaluations resulted in my data being successfully recovered. My advice to anyone going through a similar situation is to seek multiple professional opinions. I chose Emergency Guy because I believe in supporting local businesses, and I appreciate the services they provide. However, when dealing with important data recovery decisions, it is always wise to consult other qualified professionals. If something does not feel right, take the time to ask questions, gather information, and get additional opinions before making a final decision.
