I go here for takeout at least once a week. I've dined in as well, but don't think much of the ambience or the temperature (always cold) so I choose to get my sushi to go. Rolls are large, fresh, and tasty. My favorites are sweet potato tempura, TCNJ, dynamite, and summer roll. I've had the Pho and it is quite tasty and a huge portion. The other items are hit or miss. The honey chicken is good and flavorful, but the thai crispy chicken was overly sweet and odd in general. Hot chicken, sticky sweet/spicy sauce, and cold pineapple on top? Seemed like somethiing Sandra Lee would make. Now that I know what to order and what to avoid, I'm never disappointed. read more

I should have known better when we walked in on a Friday night and the place was empty except for the couple who owns it and their four daughters (ages like, 12 through 2). And tall-tale sign of it not being a really good sushi place: they've got too much variety on their menu, like the Thai, Vietnamese, and Chinese dishes... I think everyone else who previously reviewed this place does not know what good sushi is. My boyfriend and I place a pretty decent order, and the food arrived beautifully after we sat and waited for like half an hour. Each piece of the roll was so big that I found myself constantly choking as I tried to chew and swallow, and it's not something you can take bites of because then the pieces fall apart and that's no fun. We ordered 6 rolls to see what kind of variety they had - very little. Everything we ate kind of tasted the same to me from the very beginning. The spicy rolls weren't that spicy. Overall, everything we ordered was alright but mediocre. Nothing terribly special. What kind of threw me over the edge were the owners' four daughters who were constantly running around the restaurant, yelling and screaming at each other periodically. I understand it's family-owned and operated and it's the summer, but I really don't enjoy eating mediocre sushi with little kids screaming and throwing things at each other. At one point, the wife/waitress took one of the girls to the back and reprimanded her - not cool as I'm sitting there trying to eat my dinner. The worst part of it was that I couldn't even yell at the girls because they're not my kids. Usually the boyfriend and I finish with tempura ice cream for dessert, but I guess he had had enough of this place, too. So we just paid the bill and walked out, and decided we'd never return to this place. read more

Everything said on this yelp page turned out to be true. The boyfriend and i really wanted pho and after discovering this is damn near the only place in mercer county to have it, we had to give it a try. we walked in on a sunday to find no other patrons, but the entire family was there...3 small children included. We were sat directly in between where the children were seated and where the woman owner was on the phone with customer service on speaker troubleshooting her computer, very loudly, the entire hour we were there. They were all yelling across the restaurant to each other and it was extremely awkward being in there, alone, with the family pretending they were at their house. And it smelled very strongly of clothes that had been sitting in a washer for a few days. on the flipside...the pho was FANTASTIC. It was delicious, a huge portion and all the fixings were available as well. However, there is only one kind of pho as this is not a pho place so there isnt an array of options. we also got tempura veggies and chicken which was also done well. The owners, despite the unprofessionalism were very nice and their one child actually asked us if we needed anything else at the end of our meal and brought us to go containers, which i thought was nice. I'm not a sushi expert, but I would never order from this place again. The first time we ordered from here (take out only, no delivery) the sushi seemed like it was definitely pre-made earlier in the night; not the worst thing considering we got a few of the traditional sushi rolls. The second time we ordered we tried some of their 'specialty' rolls. The fish was NASTY. The color, the smell, the taste. I spit it out in fear of food poisoning. It left a funny taste in my mouth for the rest of the night. I would not be surprised if these rolls were pre-made earlier in the day too. I love it here. It's the best pad thai in the area, and no meal is complete without a side of fried shumai. They also have very filling bento boxes for reasonable prices, and the fried rice is always delicious. The wait can get long during busy times, so be prepared for that and call ahead. read more

One of the few places my mom loves for Chinese food. Every time she comes to visit we go here. The food isn't too salty, they always give you a lot, and the staff is very nice. I would say the only downsides are the service can sometimes be slow, and it is a bit expensive if you are looking for cheaper Chinese food. Yummy sushi lives up to its name. Not only are the rolls creative, huge but delicious. Lots of sushi places have creative rolls but they don't taste good. Decent food but the worst service. I've been to this restaurant at least a dozen times because of its convenience and close proximity to tcnj's campus. I have given up on dining in because after they seat you, it could take upwards of 20 mins just to have your drink order taken and then another 15 to 20 for the rest of your order. I have never sat down for a meal here, but this my go to sushi (and Asian food) takeout place! All of the rolls I have had have tasted fresh and are much larger than your average sushi places. Any specialty roll is generally a whole mouthful per peice and if you get the lobster roll you can't fit the peices all in your mouth at once! They are huge (you get 4) and hard to manage with chopsticks, but it has become one of my favorite rolls. I also love any of there regular maki sushi, the TCNJ roll, the rock and roll and the east roll. I highly recommend any of those. I also am madly in love with their wonton soup! I have never had such delicious wonton soup anywhere, this is the king of wonton in my book! The broth is so flavorful and not overly salty and the dumplings have super thin, melt in your mouth dough and the meat is always tasty and never grissly. Give it a try, it's definitely worth it. The other Asian food available has also been consistently good. The veggies are always fresh and crispy, unlike many take out Chinese places, and they may be pricier, but the quality is worth the extra money in my book. I have greatly enjoyed their lo mein, Thai crispy chicken and the general Tso's chicken. read more

Don't ever go there if you're hungry, because you'll wait forever for your food- it's not a one time thing either, it's very slow every time. Frankly the place is more of a 3.5 star. I dig the food - I've had a number of sushi and Japanese options and they've all been very good. The service is good too and the prices are reasonable. The restaurant is also clean although it is a bit cluttered. I work in the area so I'm there sporadically - maybe a few times a year. The comments regarding the owners' kids are somewhat accurate. They've always been very well-behaved when I've been there, it's just a little too "homey" to have them all there in the restaurant. Been coiming here for years ever since I learned the chef/owner, An, used to be around the corner at East Sushi. Sushi is always fresh and tasty and comparable to the big cities, in fact usually better. Ask the chef for something special and he will surprise you! Very good sushi place! Love the fact that it's BYOB. However, the top sushi place in the area for food and atmosphere is Concerto Fusion over in Morrisville, PA. Yummy has a really large selection of rolls (be prepared to spend sometime going over the menu) and every one that I've tried has been very good. My only complaint about the rolls is that they are very large. So large that it it's actually hard to taste all the components of the roll. They are very reasonably priced though. I've tried some of their other dishes including their spring rolls, pho, etc. and all have been very good. They are usually not that busy. Service is friendly and quick. However be prepared to have little kids running around. The people that own the establishment often have the kids there playing in the back and sometimes the front. Don't let this discourage you from going, but you might want to pick a different restaurant for a romantic/nice evening out. read more

Best sushi in Mercer that I know, and I try every place imaginable. Rolls are very generous in size, especially "regular" rolls like salmon avocado. Only $8.51 for lunch special and massive portions. Love this place. Nemo roll is pricy but one of my favorites and also very generous portion. Only complaint: It's freezing inside during winter months. I have no idea why they don't turn on the heat. You have to wear your coat inside, which the main hostess herself does! She'll take your order with her coat on! Weird tiny distraction but sushi is fantastic. Best I can find around here. (Especially since Kenji in Hamilton changed owners.) Best sushi in all New Jersey remains Sushi Lounge (sushilounge.com) in Hoboken, Totowa, and Morristown. But such a hike for us in Mercer. read more

Love this place! It's a little pricey but it's so worth it. Generous portions, not like most other sushi places around here. Andy makes the sushi fresh right before your eyes. His wife and children are so sweet and the service is excellent. Ask for the jason roll, it's shrimp tempura with sauce and chopped shrimp on top. It's sort of a secret menu item, but don't tell them you got it from me ;) I come here a lot, and I definitely will be going back very soon. read more

This is very much a family run operation and it shows in the great care put into every aspect of the restaurant. We went here for my birthday last week and were very happy with our meals. Three of us shared a large plate of sushi rolls and sashimi; pieces were large and very fresh. My parents had the beef teriyaki and chicken teriyaki, which I tasted and both were fabulous. The veggies on the side were so fresh and crunchy. Reasonable prices for the quality of food.
