Everything about Sun Lok is amazing!! It is our go to take out restaurant but it's also a great place to dine in.

We ordered the other evening from here after my GF had a craving for Chinese. I have to say the portions you get for your mains are huge! We both ordered lo mein (vegetable and a lobster lo mein) with only one size option. It definitely feels like that size is a quart size and you get plenty for what you are paying for. It was full of flavor and well worth the money IMO (10+ for the vegetable and 14+ for the lobster) You get a decent amount of crab rangoons in an order, but they seem like they are on the smaller side. read more

Sun Lok Garden is a local chinese food staple that's been around for years! You may order your food for dine in or takeout. They have a decent sized dining room with booths and group seating available. The customer service is usually friendly and quick. You are served complimentary hot tea and crunchy wonton noodles with duck sauce upon arrival. The food portions are generous and made fresh, so there is a small wait, but meals usually come out fairly quickly. The fried rice if flavorful, and the sweet and sour chicken is pretty good too. First time ordering from this place after receiving recommendations from a Facebook group I belong to and reading other Yelp reviews. I ordered the Moo shu shrimp for myself and 20 minutes before writing this I was in my bathroom dry heaving. I guess I didn't get a fresh batch. My husband had the sweet-and-sour chicken and said it was doughy. Way too much breading and not enough chicken. I also ordered beef lo mein and sesame chicken for my son, but he hasn't eaten it yet so he'll have it tomorrow. Needless to say I will not be returning and still believe there are no good Chinese restaurants in the Mercer County area. read more

The tower of perfection for all other Chinese food to cower in the shadow of... The tower has fallen. The king has died. There is no law. Sun Lok... GET IT TOGETHER. Get your house in order. On a recommendation, I ordered meals for 22 people at 10:45 for an 11:45 pickup. I'd called prior and was informed my order was not considered large and 1 hour notice was more than enough time. Wendy took my order and read the order back to me. Wendy also took each person's name who I was picking up for. I arrived at a very clean establishment. By the time I reviewed and paid for the order, all the meal was ready. Wendy helped me carry out the boxes. The food was individually labeled with people's names and easily distributed. Everyone was pleased with their meal. In addition to what my colleagues selected, I ordered suggested items for people to try. Wendy also suggested chicken and asparagus. Very good choices. Sunlok is a must-go place to dine at with your friends and family because it would be a crime to not share the wonderful experience with the world. The servers here are very friendly and quick with their services. Not only that, but they also have great food! The portion sizes are perfect and much more than you pay for. This is a perfect restaurant and I recommend it to everyone I know. As someone of Chinese descent, this is a place that I feel is very authentic and does the culture justice. I cannot imagine the work that goes into making this restaurant possible especially with it being a small business. I can tell that everyone working here is genuine about their service and only hopes to provide their customers with the best experience. A long time resident of Yardville, we have been going to SunLok Garden since they opened. We have NEVER had a bad experience with the food or service which is amazing since we order at least once or twice per week. I am especially impressed with the efforts of Wendy who is there ALL the time. On a busy Friday night, she is answering phones, seating guests, and ringing up take-out orders. Warning for those who order from Sun Lok Gardens! Love their food, but they raised some of their prices by $4, but haven't updated their menus. We ordered takeout tonight and I was shocked that they charged $4 more for each of the dishes we ordered. I questioned my bill and was told they now have two portion sizes for the orders - small and large. It previously was just one size - the large. We have been ordering take out from them for years. I am ok with the price increases, but feel it isn't right to charge customers more without indicating the price increases on the menu. read more

Just randomly saw Sun Lok in the parking lot and ordered Veg Lo Mein and Spring Rolls, with the lowest of low expectations, to take care of a late lunch and calibrating to poor Yelp reviews. I was in for a real treat, as both dishes were outstanding. I took the family to dinner there again today (takeout only) and ordered the same dishes, again, as perfect as I remember them and same reviews from family! While I ate my meal, I don't think we'll be ordering again. The sauce served with the veggie dumplings spilled all over the bag. The dumplings themselves were delicious, albeit soggy. Not really a complaint otherwise and since we got takeout, it's totally normal and almost expected for a sauce to spill. I got the shrimp curry for dinner, which was mostly onion? I guess? Some sort of translucent vegetable made up the majority of the quart. For curry, it was shockingly bland, but otherwise inoffensive. My fiancé got the sesame chicken combination platter. His sesame chicken was great, but the fried rice was, once again, bland. The lo mein was a real low point. The noodles were mushy and once again, the whole thing tasted of very little. This is our favorite restaurant when we're in NJ. We've been going there since it opened in the 80s, and have never been disappointed. We especially love their black bean dinners, the asparagus in brown sauce, the moo shu and the pad thai. I have caught good glimpses of the kitchen / back of house and it looks very clean and well maintained. 3 Stars with a Bullet. There are some very good things about Sun Lok Garden. The floor plan is old style Chinese restaurant, from a time when you brought the family, in-laws and assorted others to join you for a Chinese meal. Plenty of room for tables without violating anyone's personal space. Design elements include a full wall archway done in a traditional style, complete with wood carvings and black lacquer and gold screens. No wonder it has been here 32 years! The only downside is the use of carpeting in the dining area. While it does help with acoustics, it also can hold decades of dirt that is impossible to remove short of replacing the flooring. It would be so much better to have everyone remove their shoes and put on disposable soft slippers. The staff was a big plus. Both the owner and the server were friendly and engaging in a pleasing way - a joke with the water refill is a nice touch. My General Tso's Chicken was the weak link in my meal. The Wonton Soup was above average, with a decent broth base and tasty dumplings. The Fried Rice was a huge portion, and although mass produced earlier in the day, it retained a fresh feel, and a chunky, chewy texture. The problem with the General was the absence of the proper sweet/spicy balance for which the old man gave his life. He wanted something that both pleased his sweet tooth, but also raised his triple heater to prepare him for either love or battle. This one was neither sweet, nor hot enough. The chicken was fresh, mostly dark meat, but the sauce was off. Still, my overall impression was positive, and I will return to try other menu items for lunch or dinner. I suspect that in 32 years they have learned to do many things the right way. Thus, the bullet for good things to come. read more

Chinese restaurant that I always went to near my work place, whenever I'm craving for some. Their food is pretty yummy. Go try their House Special Fried Rice. It is very different than your ordinary 'yellow' Chinese fried rice. Taste yummy-er. Their portion is more than enough and cheap. You can literally feed 3 people in their Large size of fried rice, for less than $8. They have their lunch hour special, just like any other Chinese restaurant. Cheap and good as well. If you decided to dine in, you can grab ice cream next door in Carvel afterward. CVS, 7-11, Rite Aid, Dollar Store, literally next door from it. Another good reason to grab Chinese food here.
