Found myself in Columbus, NJ, after a court appearance in Mt. Holly, the county seat of Burlington County. This building is right in the center of town and looks to have been a bank in the past. It is mostly takeout, but there are a few tables (mostly taken up by the owners' kids) for the brave souls who prefer to eat while the food is hot. The Sesame Chicken was above average. Although the amount was somewhat less than given in most other Chinois houses, the breading was not overly thick, and the sauce was actually pretty good. The Fried Rice was full of pork, peas and a few other veggie pieces. I liked the dish. Most appreciated was the curtsy to hospitality provided by the real plate on which the meal sat. It was a pleasant touch to get away from serving in-house customers as if they were taking lunch with them. I don't like eating out of Styrofoam when seated in the restaurant. The small extra cost of washing a few dishes is nothing compared to the sense that the other places really don't want you around. The front of the house woman was friendly and engaging as she watched over her kids and the shop. While Hong Kong Restaurant is still a Sino/American house with standard menu, their effort to provide a welcoming touch to their operation goes a long way.

Roast pork with mixed vegetables combo plate was very good.

Very happy with my take out from this small family run spot. The roast pork with mixed vegetables was very good. Clean and fresh flavors. Fried rice had good flavor and not oily at all. The restaurant seemed very clean and the woman who took my order was very nice.

Love the won ton soup!

Our favorite go-to for local takeout. My favorite dish is the Pad Thai and my husband loves the sesame chicken meal. Highly recommended for anyone in the area.

The food tasted fine but I was highly dissatisfied with the duck. It was a bit pricey to receive imitation duck rather than the real thing.

The duck was imitation duck not the real thing. The fried rice was good, I was just highly dissatisfied with receiving a pricey fake version of duck.

Chicken and Broccoli!! Crab rangoons are also a must order of the Appetizer menu!!

I don't know which is better, the hospitality or the food. These foods can charm the fly specks out of the pepper.

The highlight of the meal was easily the hot appetizer -- the wontons in chili oil. The delicate…read morewontons were packed with flavorful filling and coated in a rich, aromatic chili oil that delivered the perfect balance of heat, spice, and savory depth. The sauce had just enough numbing warmth without overpowering the dish, and every bite was incredibly satisfying. The texture combination of silky wrappers and bold sauce made it an unforgettable starter. Beyond the appetizer, the restaurant offered a warm atmosphere and attentive service that made the dining experience even better. The presentation was thoughtful, portions were generous, and the flavors tasted authentic and carefully prepared. If you enjoy dishes with a little spice and a lot of flavor, the wontons in chili oil are absolutely worth ordering. I would definitely come back just for them.

Glad I made a reservation via Google Assistant b/c it was a full house plus tons of people waiting (1hr) for their takeout orders. Great sign! We ordered quite a bit for 3 of us b/c we're excited to try them out. We loved them all especially the wontons in the authentic sauce as it should be (not in sesame or peanut sticky sauce), the salt/pepper chicken as how I remembered from back home, the delicious noodle soup with tender beef and tendon, and the flavorful black bean fish. The restaurant is nice and clean. They're busy but the kitchen was pretty quick. The waitress brought out the dish as it's done, not waiting to serve all dishes at once. We actually preferred this way. The wait staff were attentive and friendly. We really enjoy our dinner. It's less than 30 min for us; we will definitely return to try some Sichuan dishes.

TLDR: It's a Chinese restaurant that you can trust. The english menu won't tell you everything they…read moremake, and you will be rewarded by knowing certain foods in Chinese. Tofu and Fish hotpot: Fried white fish, fried tofu, string beans, bell peppers in a sauce that is probably reduced chicken stock. I'm biased since it's one of my favorite chinese dishes. I don't know when this specific dish is amazing, but I can tell you when it's bad. Green Lake's version is anything but bad. Shrimp Stuffed Tofu: We were given a sample since they were trying something new. The sauce is similar to the tofu hotpot but has a porkier feel because of the ground pork within the dish. The tofu is the same, but the way they fried it is different, so it took a step up. The shrimp was fine, and I think they should have this on their menu. Whole Fried Chicken: It's fine. Didn't love it. There's no batter to speak of at all, and you're reliant on the spicy sauce and ginger sauce provided. Stir Fried French Beans w/ Salted Fish: Crunchy French Beans, and very salty salted fish. Not my favorite, but it keeps things different. Hot prawn salad with broccoli: The broccoli was just boiled. Nothing to talk about. The pawn was fried and bathed in mayonnaise. What's not to like? Pork Chop: This is another Chinese restaurant staple. 85% of the chinese porkchops that you eat will taste the same. This one is no different. Hokkien Fried Rice: My chinese restaurant guilty pleasure. How else can you get a shrimp fried rice bathed in an umami sauce? The restaurant did a really good job with this and I'm glad that I asked if they had it (in chinese). Service: It was a slow night, so we had all the attention that our table needed. Ambiance: The location is big and can support small families to larger gatherings. They have a private area that fits 30+ people, so they look like the go-to spot for parties.

They roll the carts through the restaurant offering lots of dumplings, soups, noodle dishes and more. We loved everything except the Turnip Cake was way too salty. Someone dumped salt or too much soy sauce onto this dish. Also we were offered vegetarian dumplings that had some greens in it, but was mostly pork. Be sure to ask about the ingredients if you don't want pork or meat in a dish. We've been here before and all other dishes were great...Chinese broccoli sautéed, dumplings with shrimp, eggplant with shrimp, sautéed wide noodles with some veggies, soup dumplings, etc. finally tried the mango dessert. It was yummy.

Sitting right next door to Pho Palace on Bustleton Avenue in the far Northeast in Philadelphia,…read moreYaudim Dim Sum & Noodle is a small modern semi fast food Chinese kitchen that models itself as a quick dim sum (small bowl) house where you order at the cashier from the large laminated menu on the counter the most popular traditional plates, and then sit at a table until the order taker/chef/server brings your food to you on plastic trays. All that would be fine if you don't miss the old ladies with their pushcarts hawking their goodies at your table. I sort of did miss them as they are what I remember most fondly about those enormous meals around a large round table with family and friends that I enjoyed growing up. But, this is certainly not that, and therein lies the difference of having a totally enjoyable experience vs a fast food version without any cultural entertainment value. Without that, the food was just not as tasty and fun. The Xiao Long Bao skin was too thick and chewy, although the pork infused hot soup within was decent. Similarly, the sui mai and shrimp dumplings had better texture outside, but tiny shrimp within. The glutinous rice rolls had a pleasant light soy sauce and right textured wrap, but small shrimp in both size and number. The best we had was the potato croquette (crunchy outside, hot and grated tato within). The room was all blond wood and large traditional Chinese kitchen mural on the wall. Service was efficient. Prices were about right given the recent restaurant inflation. For my three stars I would rather return to the enrapture of the old ladies and their carts.
